Generate additional unique IDs from existing Unique IDs

I am using FME Form 2021. I have a Point Feature Class with 100,000 points that includes 4 ID fields, all of which are populated with unique IDs. I want to simplify the process of creating new unique IDs from the existing ones, so I no longer have to manually enter each one when I add a new point. For simplicity, I will refer to the unique ID fields as Field1, Field2, Field3, and Field4. For Field1, the maximum value is 141386; for Field2, the maximum value is 592124. What would be the best way to do this in FME? I am looking for general information like what transformers and parameters I need to use; I think I need to use the Counter Transformer. My goal is to add a new point in ArcGIS Pro and then run the FME workspace to generate the unique IDs for that point.

fme_geometry undefined when writing to fgdb

I am having trouble writing a few rasters to a raster fgdb. Most are fine but a generate errors of undefined. But previous definition seems fine. bit of a stumper. don’t think it’s a projection issue. Any thoughts? Error on write for 1 or 2 rasters Previous step has all as fme_aggregate and fme_type as raster.

FME2023 fmeobjects folder installation missing python folders?

I’m trying to discover why my stand-alone python script cannot now ‘import fmeobjects’ after an upgrade of FME Desktop 2022.2 to FME Forms 2023.2.2. The sys.append path that worked previously had a python version subfolder inside the installation’s fmeobjects folder, like this: if os.path.isdir(rf"{FME_HOME}\fmeobjects\{python_subfolder}"): os.add_dll_directory(FME_HOME) sys.path.append(rf'{FME_HOME}\fmeobjects\{python_subfolder}") sys.path.append(FME_HOME) os.chdir(FME_HOME) import fmeobjects but those python subfolders are no longer there inside the fmeobjects folder in the Form current installation, but rather are outside in their own ‘python’ folder now. Is this correct? It seems that most of the searching I’ve done has the path to the python version as a subfolder of fmeobjects folder. No amount of appending sys.path versions of the python_subfolder will allow python to correctly ‘import fmeobjects’ and not stop producing: ImportError: DLL load failed while importing fmeobjects: T

Output excel file hiding column names (row 1)

I am writing data to an excel file but when I open the written file, the first row of the file (that includes the column headings) is hidden and I have to manually expand it to show the headings. Is there a way to fix this in the writer at all?

What is the Host URL in FME AR app? Any other optional app for AR?

Hello! I want to use my phone to visualize the FME model I created in laptop. I am using FME AR app now. I don’t know how to log in. What is the Host URL? What’s more, since the FME AR app is no longer available in app store now (I download it long time ago but cannot use this app through other device), which software should I use to create the AR project?

FME Form freezes when adding a new database connection

I’m trying to add a new database connection (FME Form 2024.2). I haven’t had any problems with this in the past but today the Add Database Connection dialog just freezes when I click Save. I’m able to click the Test… button to test the connection and that works. I’ve tried various connections to various databases and get the same behaviour - I’m able to test the connection successfully but not able to save it, so it does not appear to be a DB connection issue. I suspect it’s a file lock / permission issue on the connections file/DB that is being used but I have rebooted the computer and that did not help. I’m trying to save the connection for my own user (not a shared connection). Has anyone else experienced this and know how to resolve it?

Can't subtract solid geometry with csg-builder

I can't subtract solid geometry with the fme csg-builder. My goal ist to subtract the terrain (extruded by -10m) from buildings, to evaluate the volume that is above the terrain (subtract the basement under terrain). 3D-View: 2D-View: I tried several fme-transformer before plug them into the csg-builder. I used combinations of geometrycoercers and solid-builders with no success. My approach is to negative-extrude the terrain convert it to a solid and then substract it from the building-solids. The result ist always “nothing” (rejected): Or i just get one building dissolved (union) or cut (difference) when i dont use grouping:

STAC Asset Reader

Hi guys! I'm trying to understand how the STAC Asset reader works. In my case, I have a URL to an item, but when I try to access it, it complains that I don't have authentication. When I then check the "Use authentication" box, I only get options related to AWS, and not the service I created. I've used the URL to retrieve data via Radiant Earth Stac browser with my credentials and it works there. Has anyone used this reader to extract data from sources other than the default ones?

Error when using GoogleCloudStorageConnector on MacOS

Since the last update of the GoogleCloudStorageConnector (on 26.03.2025, safe.google-cloud-storage [2.5.0]), it no longer works.I always get this error message: Message Type: fme::internal::_v0::py::Exception Python Exception <TypeError>: JSONConnection.api_request() got an unexpected keyword argument 'extra_api_info' Error encountered while calling method `input' GoogleCloudStorageConnector_CALLER (PythonFactory): PythonFactory failed to process feature I am using FME 2025.0.0 with Python 3.13 on a macOS Sequoia (15.3.2).Except of the transformer update nothing has been changed.The error does not appear on Wondows with the same FME settings.

In Form the FME Flow connection is overwritten when creating a new database connection

In Form (2024.1) the FME Flow connection is overwritten when creating a new database connection. This behavior is in our Citrix environment. Why is this happening and what can I do about it? Doesn't have a clue at the moment.

Write geometry to PostSQL Database

Hi, I have this workspace and databse connection, worked nicely to write to a table. This is geometry column for another table in PGAdmin My workspace using the PostGreSQL writer: But for some reason, even if I add column geom manually in pg admin after, it refuses to write. What could I be doing wrong? The column jsut never appears, maybe it is a pgadmin question not FME question how I store the geodata, not as X,Y points but as readable geometry like this:

Using Spatial Filter within a FeatureReader

I’m using FME Workbench 2023.1. I have a workspace where I am trying to use a FeatureReader with a Spatial Filter for a constraint to limit the number of Parcels I bring in from the Parcels layer by running them spatially against the Corporate Boundary layer. I’m new to FeatureReaders and I’m not sure what I am missing to get this to work as intended. I have my Corporate Boundary layer connected to the Initiator Port on the FeatureReader. The settings for the FeatureReader point to the ESRI REST Service URL of the Parcels layer. And no matter what Spatial Filter selection I use: Initiator OGC - Contains Result, Initiator OGC - Intersects Result, Initiator OGC - Within Result...I only get 1 output to the Schema and 1 output to the Initiator port. See the image below. Can someone please explain what I might be doing wrong or missing when trying to use the FeatureReader? How to get seamlines for different aerial photos?

Hi, we are searching for a solution to create seamlines between aerial photos. So we have a lot of photos with different overlapping areas like this: footprints Is there a possibility to create seamlines between the images? So we wouldn´t like to do this manually. It should be approximately the center line of the overlapping areas. At the end we wanna cut out the origin arial images based on the seamlines. Does anyone have experience with this?

GTFS Lines along road network

I had a look at this documentation: gtfs-measures/docs/GTFS_Script_Documentation.md at master · VolpeUSDOT/gtfs-measures And it is exactly what I would like to do in FME. I already found the script to create lines from shapes, routes and stop text files, the problem is that those lines follow the stop coordinates. I need it to follow an existing road network. I couldnt get the Python script to work and it is pretty old as well. I tried snapping the bus stops to the road network before I run the script, creating a bus_stops_snapped but it still doesn’t really follow the road network. Any idea of how this would be done? I have the road network as both shp or geoDB. I creates line using this FME script Translating from GTFS – FME Support Center

Understanding parallel processing in FME Form

I’m using FME 2023.2. I thought I understood parallel processing but clearly there are some intricacies that I don’t understand and I’d appreciate any insights people can provide. I have a custom transformer that processes Lidar tiles and takes some time to run, so I enabled parallel processing and saw some significant performance improvements with my test set of 20 tiles. Python Libraries not available?

Hi all,I’m attempting to create a python script to encrypt a file for transfer to a bank.We need to be using PGP encryption, and as I understand the only way to encrypt using FME is by way of python. Having only recently joined the organisation, I was not here when the installation of the latest Form and Flow was undertaken, (otherwise I would have advised that the Flow installation 2022.1.1, should at least match the Form version 2023.2). But that’s only part of the problem I believe.First, I would like to attempt to figure out if the libraries are available from a Form workspace running on my desktop. When I check the INTERPRETER settings in the Options menu, it appears I cannot change or make reference to any alternative path. So far I have had very little luck, and would like to know if anyone has a simple python script that can run in a workspace PythonCaller/PythonCreator that will provide a test (so far the script produces an error any way I attempt to write to the log). HTTPCaller response different to browser response

Hi All, I've replicated a print call to a public mapping application using HTTPCaller. I've done this to try to capture some metrics on intermittent print errors we are seeing. However, complicating this, the response body results URL (from which the pdf would be retrievable) is formatted slightly differently between the HTTPCaller and the browser Dev Tools response. For example: In the browser I see: "url": "https://utility.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/directories/arcgisoutput/Utilities/PrintingTools_GPServer/x_____xW6zDASkYrE9-8aNcJmscBA..x_____x_ags_e458af6a-0932-11f0-acf5-0e5ef779a06f.pdf" However in the HTTPCaller response I get: "url": "https://utility.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/directories/arcgisoutput/Utilities/PrintingTools_GPServer/_ags_10f9db8b-0934-11f0-84d5-0afff93c372b.pdf" What would be the explanation for this difference? Snowflake database connection with keypair not recognising schema

Hi, I have and issue trying to connect to snowflake DB using keypair authentication, it is not recognising my schema. I'm using FME(R) 2024.1.2.1 (20240906 - Build 24624 - WIN64). I can connect fine in DBeaver using the keypairs. I'm using the advance JDBC settings to add the parameters in a new snowflake database connection. The error I get is ' C OM.safe.fme.jdbc.TranslationFailureException: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Connection established with no current schema. Make sure that schema 'dbo' specified in connection settings exists and is accessible by the user ‘. I know you need to have the case correct in the parameter I have checked with the DBA and have been told that the schema is definitely lowercase. I can’t show all the jdbc connection string, but this is the schema bit ‘ schema=dbo ’ so it is passing the lowercase parameter. Again, I am using the lowercase in DBeaver and connecting fine. I’ve also tried the scheme DBO, “dbo”, “DBO”. There is another schema in the databa

BulkAttributeRenamer - unexpected attribute removal in FME 2025.0

Just recognized, after migration of a workspace from 2024.2 to 2025.0 a BulkAttributeRenamer shows strange results: The transformer is set to change attribute names to lowercase (mode rename) for a selected set of attributes. This works as expected. However the remaining attributes (not selected for any change) got almost completely removed. ‘Almost completely’ means from the >5000 records only 4 have the attribute after the transformer while all other records show the attributes as <missing>. @safe - although it’s easy to mitigate it might be worth to dig into it. note: in mode ‘keep original attributes’ results are as expected. PointOnAreaOverlayer not producing expected results

Hello Forum, I am experiencing an unexpected problem with what should be a simple point in polygon search process in FME Form. I have a Creator connecting to… FeatureReader - reading in a point dataset of 16255 records FeatureReader - reading in a polygon dataset, which covers a smaller area of what the points do The two FeatureReaders feed into a PointOnAreaOverlayer. But when I run the workspace 16255 point records are found. The number should be far smaller. Thanks.

How to Perform a Utility Network Model Subnetwork Trace Using Python Caller or Python Creator in FME?

Hello FME Community, I am working with a Utility Network Model (UNM) in ArcGIS Pro and need to perform a subnetwork trace using FME. Since FME does not have a dedicated transformer for UNM traces, I am exploring options using the Python Caller or Python Creator to execute this operation. What I Need Help With: Python Script Guidance: How can I use the arcpy module (or another approach) within FME's Python Caller/Creator to perform a subnetwork trace. Read AEC Objects (Geometries and Attributes) in FME

I am working on feature and attribute extraction from an AutoCAD Architectural file, namely the extraction of room polygons and their attributes from AEC blocks that represent rooms. I have tried the Civil 3D reader and the reader actually sees the layer with the room AEC blocks and it shows me the available attributes correctly, alas the reader does not return any features. There are no errors, only a lot of warnings about attribute renaming because of scpecial characters. Has anyone ever succeeded in reading AEC block features and attributes? If so, how did you do it?
