I’m writing data from FME into an existing Excel sheet (XLSX writer) that is later edited by others in Google Sheets. Some columns are manually updated after the file is generated.When the workspace runs again, FME starts writing at Start Row = 2, which overwrites the existing rows and removes those manual edits.Is there a recommended way to append new rows to the bottom of an existing worksheet in FME while preserving existing rows and user edits? I saw a somewhat similar question in a different post, but didn’t know if there was an easier way?

Hi,Has anyone used the 12dxml reader before and know why it is so incredibly slow? Even for small files with caching turned off. If there was a way to speed it up that would be great.The actual reader isn’t so bad, it is ludicrously slow when you use the feature reader though. I can’t see whyThanks

I want to embed a DB connection in my workspace without the password being saved in the workspace.A password should not be saved in an FME workspace file. But I want the connection details to be saved in the workspace file.What I've tried:- If I leave the password blank, the workspace does not run because the connection requires a password. I could save the workspace with a blank password. But if I want to run the workspace, I need to edit the Reader/Writer or Transformer properties and enter a password. FME detects this as unsaved changes in my workspace and it could easily happen that the workspace gets saved with the password by accident. This is a stupid solution.- I could create a user paramter for the password field. When I run the workspace, I have to make sure that the "Save As Parameter Default Values" option in the parameters dialogue is disabled. To ensure that, I could add a custom message to the parameters dialogue telling the user to be care

I am working on a project creating building footprints from a lidar point cloud. However, the original lidar point cloud being used has some portions of buildings classified with “unassigned” values which has created incomplete building footprints. Are there any suggestions how I could identify these “unassigned” building values to fix the building footprint?

Hello all - grateful for some suggestions here - I’m being driven slowly mad…We are developing a ‘data portal’ style workbench running in FME2025.1, using a dynamic writer to deal with multiple input and output datasets and multiple possible output formats - the dataset and output format are specified by user parameters.The source datasets are point or polygon datasets stored in an MSSQL Esri SDE and output formats  include all the usual GIS data formats.This is generally working well but one polygon dataset is failing to wite out. Hello,I have a workspace in FME Form that reads a large number of tables from a PostgreSQL database and writes them into another PostgreSQL database with the same schema structure but without data.Workspace designI use a FeatureWriter configured for PostgreSQL with the following settings: Table name is dynamic and taken from the incoming feature type: Table Name = fme_feature_type Attribute Definition = Automatic The destination database already contains the tables (same structure). Each feature is therefore written to the corresponding table in the destination database.

Hi, I have a query that reads data from a view. When I run the workspace that executes the query locally, it executes.If I then set the workspace to FMEflow, the query no longer works. Local and FMEflow use the same Oracle client version.The error message is meaningless: SQLCreator_11_<Rejected>: Termination Message: 'SQLCreator_11 output a <Rejected> feature. To continue translation when features are rejected, change 'Workspace Parameters' > Translation > 'Rejected Feature Handling' to 'Continue Translation''The query does an select with a group by on a view. The same query runs in SQLdeveloper without errors.The only strange thing i see is when i skip the 'group by' that there are fields with the value "<Missing>" Normally i see Null.

How can one rasterize a vector where all cells touched by a polygon/vector get drawn during rasterization?I have tried the NumericRasterizer, but I believe there’s an issue with tolerance values greater than 0.5 not being respected when using the NumericRasterizer transformer.With tolerances like 0 and 0.5, I can see a difference in output. However, a tolerance value of 1.0 has no change in the output (see below). I have a donut geometry (see WKT below) which I am trying to validate. Using the GeometryValidator only looking for self intersections I get an error on the start/end point of the outer ring: Error report:Coordinates from the inspector: I would expect this to not be reported as a self intersection since polygons normally require intersection at exactly that point.  Why is FME reporting this? I have some columns within my Excel template that have a lot of text, so I thought to put the wrap text feature on for basically the whole spreadsheet. Thing is, only some of the cells wrap text instead of all of the cells. In the screenshot you can see what I mean - I have tried everything to try and fix this. Hoping someone in this community can assist! I tried using the ExcelStyler transformer too to no avail. 

I am loading a small raster/tiff into CesiumJS via ion for a limited area of interest, which works, but I am getting a sharp “cliff” between this raster and the surrounding Cesium-terrain (I assume it is the Ellipsoid, it sits at roughly 35m above MSL). My initial idea was to see if I can “lift” the surrounding terrain up to the level of my custom raster-tif, but I guess that’s not possible, so my second idea is to expand my raster to continue outward at a set height (say 80m) for a few hundred meters instead to better mask the impression of the vertical cliff, and maybe have it ramp downhill until it meets the default terrain. However, I have no idea how to do this in FME, and ChatGPT is hallucinating around FME as per usual :)Does anyone have an idea of a solution for this? Ultimately, I just want something nicer than the sharp cliff a la Grand Canyon into something that is not too distracting for users. I need to update environmental data in our system. The input data comes from an ESRI Shapefile, and I am using FME 2021.2. The output is stored in Oracle Spatial.However, the system that reads the data from Oracle only accepts simple polygons. When I try to insert multipolygons, part of the geometry is ignored by that system.Is there a way in FME to convert multipolygons into single polygons while maintaining a 1:1 relationship between input and output features?If I use the Deaggregator, the number of records grows exponentially, which is not viable for our database.I also started working with FME recently, so I may be missing a simpler or recommended approach.What would be the recommended way in FME to transform multipolygons into valid simple polygons without increasing the number of features?

My long time transformer friend FMEFlowLogFileRetriever is not avaliable in FME 2025. The error asked me to use HTTPCaller to retrieve the job log file. So I used this rest point in the HTTPCaller’s Request URL with GET - https://my-fme-flow-hostname/fmerest/v3/transformations/jobs/@Value(jobid)/log. I tried the Basic and Web Connection authentications, but both gives the error “HTTPCaller (HTTPFactory): An error occurred while accessing the URL 'https://my-fme-flow-hostname/fmerest/v3/transformations/jobs/98/log'”. I have no problem publishing using the same Web Connection for the authentication, so don’t understand what the issue is. The jobid = 98 was run successfully on the FME Flow.

Hi everyone,I’m currently building a tool in FME to compare a point cloud with a .000 layer that contains point soundings.Because the two datasets have different geometry types, I rounded the coordinates in both datasets to the same decimal precision (0 decimal places), using the CoordinateRounder. After that, I extracted the X and Y coordinates as attributes so that I could compare them directly using the CoordinateExtractor.When using the Matcher, I intentionally excluded the geometries and matched the features purely based on the coordinate attributes. The matcher does find some matches between the two datasets, but it does not capture all of them.I also tried using both FeatureJoiner and FeatureMerger, but these transformers merge all attributes, which I would prefer to avoid for this workflow.Initially, I suspected the issue might be related t

Hi,In a workbench, I created a Custom Transformer to loop batch of features.It is a workaround to prevent machine reboot on large feature datasets processing. At least, writing-along features in the Output to .csv. file help to recover features processed in PythonCaller and it is easier to resume for the remaining features… Here is the workbench, with Inputs:batch = 10counter = 54000 (total of features)loop = 0 (to keep track of iteration)offset = 0The Tester_counter transformer filter out batches 10 features at each iteration, sent to PythonCaller. At the end of processing the Tester_Loop tests if there is remaining features to process. Hi.This may be a simple or a complex question, I’m not sure which.I’m attempting to use a dynamic expression, that I construct dynamically from values read from a file or table, and evaluate it on all relevant feature read from a database or file. Including AND/OR etc.How can this be achieved in Workbench ?I’ve tried to utilize ExpressionEvaluator with the expression @Value(@Value(expr)), but it doesn’t return any value in the “_result” variable.What am I doing wrong, and is it even feasable ?Are there better ways to achieve this ?Using 2025.2.4Cheers

Hi there,We recently installed ArcPro 3.3 with the data interoperability extension FME version 2024.0.1.0.I have succesfully used WorkspaceRunner in the previous version of ArcGIS PRO 2.8.But now, when I use the WorkspaceRunner transformer to run a simple workspace the transformer fails to read the published parameter, it says "Specified workspace has no parameters or could not be read". Hi FME gurus. I am trying to extract values from a list to populate columns with the associated values in the fields.  In my list (called _columns) I have a caption field which has the name of the column I want to create and the date value I want to populate into the field so the example I have in the screenshot I want to look like this: Application ID Last Inspection Next Inspn Due 648343 2025-06-23 2026-06-16 15456.. 2025…. 2026….  The list exploding only brings out the name of the original column ‘caption’ but I am looking to use the values in the list itself to build the attributes and populate the values. There are rec
