Workbench not doing the same when uploaded to FME FLOW

Hello  I have a simple workbench that should export data from and ArcSDE Geodatabase to a local File Geodatabase. I have 2 readers, 1 for a point feature and one for a polyline feature. After the reader I only have a datetime Stamper and an Attribute Manager. These features should be written to a local file geodatabase, so both features in the same file geodatabase. The goal is to run this automated every day, so I used “Fanout Expression” with “Export_@Value(timestamp).gdb” so the exported file geodatabase has the date in the name. If I run this script in FME Workbench it works perfectly fine and I have the 2 features in the same local geodatabase. I uploaded this exact script into FME Flow, configured the connection to the ArcSDE Geodatabase and the desitnation file geodatabase. But now if I run in in FME Flow only the point features get written correctly into the file geodata base, the polyline features not. But there is also no error so I have no idea why.  Im a noob so im sure the

PointCloudSpatialThinner without altering z-coordinates

Hello,I would like to decimate my point cloud to keep one point every meter for example.I tried PointCloudSpatialThinner but i suggest it extrapolates the coordinates to fit the best to the original cloud point.The problem I have is I can’t change z-coordinates. Optimally I’d like to decimate my point cloud only on the x and y coordinates.Does someone have a solution ?Best regards,Gurvan

Remove Fields Issue

I can't remove the "issue." fields. I tried deleting them with Attribute Manager and AttributeRemove without success. Could someone tell me how to do this deletion?

Automating Workflow with Multiple Shapefiles of Different Schemas

Hi everyone, I'm working on an FME workflow that needs to process multiple Shapefiles. The challenge is that these files come with different schemas (different attributes, attribute names, etc.). I’ve noticed that transformers like DuplicateFilter, AttributeExposer, DatetimeConverter, SchemaMapper... don’t handle these schema changes dynamically. That means every time a new Shapefile with a different schema is added, I have to manually update these transformers to accommodate the changes. Is there a way to make this process more dynamic, so the workflow can adapt automatically to different input schemas without manual intervention each time? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I would like to fill the holes or patch the gaps that are not really holes (see image), but in the output I don’t get any attributes. Why is that, and what is the best method? I try Areaamalgamator but ii cannot retrieve the attributs in output…thank you

How to read and write geotif files in a zipped map

Hi,I want to automate the process of downloading a dataset that comes as a zipped folder. Inside the folder, there is a GeoTIFF file that I want to read into FME. Multiple shapefiles to single feature class with attribute changes

I have a process that downloads groups of shapefiles of the same schema to a folder from a google bucket. I am trying to read in those shapefiles with a feature reader so that I can add an attribute containing the shapefiles name. Then I want to write all those shapefiles to a singe feature class in a geodatabase. How would I set up my featurereader so I can create and write that attribute in all those shapefiles before writing to the feature class?

Guidelines on the use of "FMEP" as a certification designation

I have noticed some folks including “FMEP” after their name on LinkedIn. I assume this is a designation that they passed the FME Certified Professional exam.Is this a generally accepted way of indicating this certification? Does Safe have guidelines about using this abbreviation?

Extract Campground site number information Question ?

Hi,I do have a question for anyone that experience about extracted information from a website . I have a geodatabase that I set it up as a field with Domains.The project I am working on is Campground for my Forest here we have many campgrounds.  I work on about 18 campground so far…My question is can I go to Recreation.gov site and select a campground using in FME ? For example, in the search box , type Colorado Campground and then it turns to new page and you will see the campground map that has all the Site number you can pick.So click on number three and then click View details...which will bring another page and it gives you all the information about that site number…That is what I plan to use this…I have done input all the information into my geodatabase  there. Will HTMLExtractor work for this type of thing ? Am I making myself clear  Thanks !

XSD Driven XML Writer and _XML_FRAGEMENT_

Hi, I’m using XSDDrivenXMLWriter to write very dynamic XML to a file. There is one part of the xml with a lot of features that is very static and contains always the same data like origin and publisher… I don’t want to create all the 30 features with the XSDDrivenXMLWriter for this static part and thought I could use the _XML_FRAGMENT_ feature and 3 attributes like xml_fragment, xml_document_append_path and xml_document_append_as to tell the XSDDrivenXMLWriter to add my static xml to the output. But somehow I can’t get it working.Can you please provide me an example workspace? Unfortunately I cannot provide my workspace because it is restricted by the customer.Many thanks.

Segmentation fault - FME Worbench on Linux

Hi, I have installed FME Desktop onLinux (Technical Preview), unforunatelly when I try to start Workbench I get the following message: Segmentation fault Did anyone of you have similar problem, is it something wrong with Linux configuration? fmedatainspector seems to work fine.

What is your preferred transformer alignment?

Yesterday, after completing a first draft workspace, I showed my canvas to a colleague and they commented on how bizarre 🤢 my transformers appeared.I’d been painstakingly aligning my transformers by port - so that the output of a transformer would lead directly into the input of the following transformer. This creates flat, linear connections … but the transformers themselves don’t necessarily align. What’s your preference?  Check out your options here:  Arranging Objects on the Canvas

Don't read geometry, only attributes

Is it possible to only read the (selected) attributes, and not the geometry?Quite often, I need to join the attributes from two spatial datasets, but only need the geometry from one. And I am assuming that reading in only the selected attributes without geometry is noticeably faster than reading the attributes with geometry.Is it possible to read any dataset without geometry (other than reading it with and then doing a GeometryRemover)? And does this apply to all formats?

Issue with Noto Sans Condensed rendering in FME Mapnik Rasterizer

Hello everyone — I’m struggling with the Mapnick rasterizer and would really appreciate some help. I’m using the Mapnick Rasterizer and need to render labels with the Noto Sans Condensed font;I’m attaching screenshots that illustrate the problem: Mapnick outputs configured to use: Noto Sans, Noto Sans Bold, Noto Sans Condensed, Noto Sans Condensed Bold.  Mapnick open showing the four font settings for each situation.The result, showing that Noto Sans applies Bold, but Noto Sans Cond does not apply Bold.Noto Sans font configuration — but the Mapnick Rasterizer, although it shows Condensed + Bold in the font styles, does not accept selecting it and always reverts to only Bold.Finally, comparing this image with a label in QGIS — both using Noto Sans Condensed at size 30 — the fonts do not appear to be the same.I need to use Noto Sans with various styles — almost all Condensed, some italic, some bold — but I can’t apply all the styles in Mapnick and the Noto Sans Condensed rendered there d

ArcObject Error while inserting rows in a feature class

Hi, I am getting this error:An error occurred while attempting to insert a row into the table ‘ABC’ using a cursor. The error number from ArcObjects is: '-2147217323'. The error message from ArcObjects is: {The cursor has been invalidated by an edit operation.} I am experiencing an issue when trying to insert features into a feature class stored in an enterprise geodatabase. Specifically, I am both reading from and writing to the same dataset. I haven't encountered this problem before, but it began after I set the Feature Operations to "Upsert" while updating existing records and inserting new records that are not yet present in the database. I suspect that performing inserts and updates simultaneously may be causing a disruption with the cursor. I also attempted to use the Feature holder, but I received the same error. This disruption is affecting the automated process. Does anyone know what might be causing this error or how to fix it? I would greatly appreciate any assistance!Thank

ArcGIS Portal writer works in FME Form 2025.1, but fails in Flow 2025.1

I have a workbench that was written in Form 2024.1 that takes data from a file geodatabase, runs a bunch of tests on it, and eventually writes to two Portal feature services. I published the workbench to Form 2024.1 and it worked without issue. When we upgraded to Flow 2025.1, the process stopped working, erroring with “ArcGIS Portal Feature Service Writer: 'addResults' error for a feature in '<feature service name>'. The error code from the server was '10500' and the message was: 'None'”. The workbench still runs successfully in Form 2025.1 with no changes to the data.The Portal writer is set to Use Existing and Insert and Truncate Existing. From other Community posts, it looks like the error I get is usually associated with a schema change, but there hasn’t been one here. Did something else change? We are running Portal 11.3.

Geocoder with ArcGIS Online

For years I’ve successfully used the Geocoder transformer with the ArcGIS Online service. Now with the recent upgrade to Version 2025, it appears to be broken. I’ve read a bunch of recent articles concerning the new (?) ArcGIS connector package, but nothing seems to relate to the Geocoder transformer. Anyone else having similar problems?

ACAD Reader Hangs on LogCount_func

Hi everyone,I’m running into an issue where FME hangs while reading a DWG file using the ACAD reader. The translation process stops and doesn’t progress past the following message:while reading dwg file translation will be stopped by 'LogCount_func' Loaded module 'LogCount_func' from file 'C:\Program Files\FME\plugins/LogCount_func.dll' FME API version of module 'LogCount_func' matches current internal version (4.0 20240212) Additionally, when using a PythonCaller with arcpy, I can confirm that the Python Factory locale is being flipped from UTF-8 (German_Austria.utf8) to ANSI (German_Austria.1252):import locale print("Startup locale:", locale.getlocale()) import arcpy print("After arcpy:", locale.getlocale()) Output:Startup locale: ('German_Austria', 'utf8') After arcpy: ('German_Austria', '1252') This matches the warnings shown in the FME log:PythonFactory script changed the current FME process locale from 'German_Austria.utf8' to 'German_Austria.1252' and FME has restored it back to

Fanout in writer fails 2025.1.1

HiSomething strange. I just wanted to write shapefiles with a fanout based on a field in the attributes, and that no longer works.  No errors, it creates the folders in the specified location but does not fill them.  It selects one and ignores the rest. I don't understand. I've used it a million times and never had any problems.  Has anyone else noticed this? Is it the version or is it me?

Extracting from AGOL, filling in MS word template and exporting completed template to pdf

Dear community, I am trying to activate a workspace when a survey123 form has been edited and the user confirms that all necessary information has been completed (yes/no field). The work space would then extract data from ArcGIS online feature layer of incidents and the relevant repeat tables. The extracted data would then be used to populate a MS word template which once complete would be saved/exported as a pdf document. This pdf document would then be attached to an email and sent to the manager of who filled in the survey123. My main problem is trying to find a way to fill in the relevant field in the template with the extracted information from the ArcGIS online layer. Is there a transformer or series of transformers which make this possible? Thanks in advance.

fme form 3dtiles The texture written is incorrect

The texture image displayed by the Appearance Setter converter is correct, but the texture map written in 3dtile format is incorrect. It should be due to the loss of texture coordinates. When will 3dtiles improve? Currently, it can only be used simply

FME Form Ubuntu 22.04 synology file server permission problem

Hi,We are trying to use a FileCopy Transformer to transfer files from one location to our server (synology) / other computers (other computer).If we do it in Ubuntu GUI / SystemCaller command it works perfectly.But the file copy transformer always give error messages as we don’t have sufficient permission. Even if I put our NAS credential in the transformer (with a featureWriter), it give the error messages. The files are created in the server but there’s no content inside.Does somones already experienced it ?Thank’sSam

Hello, I want to access an api (not open to public but from one of our suppliers) using the HttpCaller .Connecting to the API with postman works fine. Connecting from the same server with FME gives the error: HTTPCaller (HTTPFactory): HTTP/FTP transfer error: 'SSL connect error'HTTPCaller (HTTPFactory): Please ensure that your network connection is properly set upHTTPCaller (HTTPFactory): No proxy settings have been entered. If you require a proxy to access external URLs, please ensure the appropriate information has been entered Connecting with FME from another environment works fine. We dont use a proxy.I have changed the option: Verify SSL certificates to NO Any ideas on what could be the problem?
