Using readers and writers to extract and load data.

Hi.I am writing to a Microstation V8 DGN. I have used the DGNStyler transfomer to convert a series of points to cells, and now I want to set the color of the cells based on an attribute. However there doesn't seem to be the option in DGNStyler or in any of the igds format attributes to set the color of a cell.Any ideas? Thanks,
Hi,I have got citygml files. I need to extract the footprint of each building and the corresponding building id, such as:<bldg:Building gml:id="_26991">One building can have more than one footprint.I'm not very familiar with citygml / fme. Can someone give me a hint how to extract the footprints (which seems quite easy) but additionaly get the building id as well. It seems I need to access the "building" for the id and "footprint" for the footprint. But how do I get building - id for each footprint? Many Thanks, Rob
Would be grateful for some advice on this. FME is refusing to load any data from this WFS service. I can see the set of layers (get capabilities) from the service when I try to add the reader but when I select the data layer I need and hit ok the log is giving me the error below. This WFS service loads vectors just fine into Qgis but not FME. Any help would be appreciated.http://www2.guildford.gov.uk/ishare5.2.web/getows.... Good Day FME'ers,I have recently upgraded to FME 2016 and I have been testing all our production workspaces to make sure they run correctly. Some of our workspace write data out to CartoDB and they have all no started producing errors. The log record is as follows:2016-01-28 11:42:05| 17.1| 0.0|ERROR |CARTODB writer: HTTP Error 400-599: HTTP error code : 4002016-01-28 11:42:05| 17.1| 0.0|ERROR |CARTODB writer: Error returned by server : relation "{table_name}_cartodb_id_seq" does not existwhere {table_name} is the cartodb table. The data or table structure has not changed since upgrading and this did not occur in 2015.1. I'm not sure if it's a bug in FME or an issue with CartoDB. I could delete and recreate the tables in CartoDB but I would lose the styling.Any thoughts? Thanks,David McDermott
I have to transform various datasets in gml-files which have to have a certain structure (>xsd-schema-file). The gml-files get imported into a subsequent application which checks the structure and throws an error if something is missing. In my original data though, not all the featureclasses exist in all the datasets, and in the gml-files that are written, those featureclasses are not contained and I get errors afterwards.I would like FME to write all the featureclasses to the gml that are defined in the schemafile, so that if there is no data for a featureclass, the tags for this featureclass are written into the gml-File, but without data between them. There's a parameter for the GML-writer "Write all featureclasses", but the tags are still not written for missing featureclasses.(In the docs it says concerning this parameter: Every GML writer DEF line is translated to the output GML application schema document as an XML Schema element declaration and a corresponding
Im frequently receiving this warning that forces me to delete postgres or postgis readers and add the readers again. There are cases that forces me to always keep the workspace open otherwise i will need to re-ad readers and set again exposed params. Anyone else noticing similar thing with PG readers ? Thanks Jorge
Hi Guys, another question for an issue i never did in FME.... with which transformer i can do such operations before writing excel ? (screenshot substract)
Hello everyone!I am extremely new to FME Desktop (2011). I've been playing with it for the last few days. I am at a point where I would like to ask for your help! I would really appreciate all your suggestions/answers.Background:Currently, I'm trying to modify an existing workbench. This workbench grabs data from an Oracle database. The data goes through a series of transformers: Joiner -> AttributeClassifier -> 2DPointAdder -> ListExploder -> FeatureMerger (where another Oracle table is merged) -> ListExploder_2 -> FeatureMerger_2 (where a new CVS file, with 277K rows, is merged) -> ListExploder_3 -> AttributeFilter -> MapInfo TAB file.Current Situation:The above seems to be running okay for a small subset of data (1000 rows from Oracle). There is another CSV file (60+ rows of lookup data) that I would need to merge into the existing workbench. (Creating another table in the Oracle database might be a better solution for this lookup table. But
Why does TextPropertyExtractor expose no Attributes?
I am trying to work with LiDAR LAS files but am having an issue. When FME reads the file or when I open it in inspector all I am getting is the bounding box of the points, what am I missing to work with the points themselves? Thanks
Hi! I am fairly new to FME. I am trying to develop a tool which creates a bounding box around features in the database. I've managed to create the bounding box as well as all my features into a .CSV file. What I want to do is make the writer use the coordinates found by the bounding box when saving the file name for each file. I have tried using @Value(<attr name>) however this just tells me my schema isn't set. I have also tried using a fan out feature on the writer, doing this allows me to save the file with the coordinates, however this then just leaves me with a blank file whereas I need a table with all the features and their added bits with it. Any help or advice on where to look would be appreciated!
How convert tiif, geotiff or jpeg2000 (jp2) multispectral (3 bands) in ecw,Thank you,Best regards
I have some route geometry that I am trying to highlight when it is selected or rolled over. I think that I should use the KML styler but I am not sure how to proceed.
i have an LAS file and want to export a custom text file with X Y Z R G B Classification. how would i do this the writer for txt only exports XYZ values and i can't seem to find a way to get this information out of my point cloud.
I have a text file extracted from an Oracle Spatial Object containing an ID field and ST_GEOMETRY with a pipe delimiter between the fields. I would like to create a polygon shapefile from it using PointConnector, or any other transformer. PointConnector does not recognize the ST_GEOMETRY field.
Hi all,we are in the process of evaluating the FME tool for one of our proposal to the client. since I am new to FME, I just downloaded FME trail version and tried to generate some easy report using Oracle Database spatial tables as source. here i tested with one oracle geospatial table which has one sdo_geometry column 'Coordinates' so i have used oracle spatial object reader type and selected the above table but it did not show the Coordinates column rest all it showed - can you please let me know how to get this column in reader table? and am i using the right type of oracle spatial category?
Hi,I am trying to migrate microstation V8 graphic elements with tags into ESRI's shape format. I am using a dynamic reader and fanning out features in different shape files based on fme_feature_type.The problem is when I read elements from microstation several other attribute appear in the process which are not part of the TAG SET of microstation file. I tried removing those by adding attribute remover or attribute keeper transformers but those attributes are not visible as an attribute in any of the transformers, I can able to see it only FME DATA INSPECTORS attribute property pane, these junk attributes manages to pass through and write in the shape file which I don't want. Can anyone please help me solving this. Thanks in advancedIMRAN
I have a database with fields for x-coordinate, y-coordiane and a textstring. Now ik have to create a Microstation dgn-file with the middle of the text on the xy-coordinate.I'm using FME Desktop 2015.0 In the workbench I start with a VertexCreator. Then I use LabelPointReplacer to place the text at the coordinate, but the coordinate is at the bottomleft corner of the text. When I set igds_oiginal_justification to 7 (centre-centre for Microstation), the coordinate moves to the middle of the text. So the text is not on the correct coordinate. How can I move the middle of the text to the coordinate?
Hi,I have this string for example : "Hello-World! Let's talk-about-you!"If I want to know the number of "-" (here would be 3) into that string, how could I do that with a transformer? Thanks!
Hi,I have created a graphic ORACLE table from a CSV file. The CSV file contains the coordinates X and Y to create points. Now the ORACLE table contains the points but the graphic column contains null values. It seems that I must : 1. Check the types of geometry it is passing to writer (i.e. line / point) , but how to do what ? 2. Define the parameter " oracle_type " with an attribute creator, but which value "point" or "oracle_point" or "SDO_point" ?Thanks you for yours answers
Hi All,I have attached dgn reader and connected to dgn writer (No transformers in between). Both reader and writer are V8 files and I have enabled "Write Tags" to "Yes". I'm getting the output dgn file without tags.Is there any action/option shall I have to do to get tags in target as present in source.Pratap
I would like to establish a QA script for photogrammetrically derived point clouds where a flag is thrown if there are double layers. I am trying to find a way to detect points on top of each other, or some other method of finding double layers of the same data.
I am trying to create routes for multiple inspectors in FME. I think ArcGISOnline Router may be the way to go. Has anyone tried it out? If someone is using some other method, what would they recommend?
The error says "SmallworldWriter Error: Object unset does not understand message field()with arguments: :fme_feature_type".Steps I have followed:-1- Opening a smallworld image.2- Making the alternative writable.3- TICS server was running on 30000 port.4- Mapped the reader to shape files, the writer configuration was given as local host & 30000 port. But the object & attributes got mapped to the writer directly from reader. It's easier to export data from smallworld, because the reader identifies the dataset & lists the objects. I am not sure about the the writer though.I am new to FME, please help me.
HiI am trying to transfer data from Oracle sde database from one server to other with same environment. But when i add reader and writer these get other columns but miss shape column. Please experts guide me.
