Hello FME experts, Is there a way to read an Excel table containing file paths (100's of them) and load the data into a workbench? I would like to open the MapInfo TAB files to know the projection parameters and list them in the spreadsheet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Thiru

I am in the process of developing a java based reader/writer for a custom data format. That data format is a single file containing records of different data types. I have implemented the readSchema() method in the reader and the information is also retrieved by FME when the reader is added. However, only one feature type (the last type reported by readSchema()) is added to the list of feature types and the workspace. When the feature types are extracted by adding a new writer with the option "Extract from dataset...", all feature types are successfully extracted and added to the workspace. Is there anything special that is needed in either the code or the metafile to enable that functionality for the reader? I can see from the spatialite reader, that it is possible after all but currently i have no idea what controls that behavior.

I was loading a set of LAS files to process through the RASTERDEMGENERATOR transformer and kept receiving an error which would stop my workbench "Either all points are linear or initial set of points did not consist of 3 non NAN elevations". After scouring the log file I noticed some of the las files being read contained no points. Once I manually identified those las files the processing went on with out a hitch. My question is how can I test incoming LAS files so they will filter out files with no points in them?

I have a folder that contains all the excel files I need to parse. I need a way to combine all the workbook files and work sheets and parse the data into a new workbook in a table format. Can FME do this?

Hi, I have used FME 2015 to transfer data from shape, mapinfo file, etc. to postgis and everything was correct.. Now with FME 2016 nothing is correct.. In Postgis I get the type of geometry (geom (geometry)).. But i want to have it like before geom (point), or geom (Linestring), etc. Is-that possible? Thanks

Hey there. Some weeks ago got an idea to remake my hometown in Minecraft. First I did so by hand, but I quickly figured out that it took too long and it would probably not be so precise. Then I looked around the internet and I found out about .dem and GeoTiff and how to make these into a 8 bit greyscale map, and making this into a Minecraft world. But after a while I figured out that it wasn't precise enough either. Then after some more thinkering I got the idea "What if one could take a GeoTiff or a .dem file and directly make it into a Minecraft world?". I googled about it, and then I found that there were someone who already had the same idea that I had, and made it possible! Now this is where I am stuck. The guide How to make Minecraft worlds uses a .Tiff file, which doesn't seem to work with my .GeoTiff/.dem files. Hi, I want to convert microstation v7 design file to shape file using FME. I have feature in levels, there are two features in level 7 have different styles. I want to extract them in two different shape file. One feature is in lv=7, style=0, wt=1 and color=0 and another feature in lv=7, style=2, weight=2 and color = 1. I want first one with style= 0 to stream_dry and another one style=2 to stream_perennial. Is it possible to convert both to single shape that is stream and they can be differentiate in their attribute of Type=dry/perennial. Please help me. Thanks Sachin

I am attempting to connect to a team site using the SharePoint reader(Microsoft SharePoint List) in FME desktop.2016 from a Win server 2008 using the Python27 library. I enter the team site URL followed by user name and password and select the NTLM connection. On click the button besides 'Lists', FME crashes with no errors or dump file creation. I confirm that my account has the right privileges to access & open the xls file on the teamsite. One thing to note is that I don't have a complete installation of MS Office on the windows server machine. I am not sure if this is related though. Any clue what might be wrong?

Hi, I have many cells features in design file like hut_p, hut_t, hut_op, tank_p, tank_d etc. hut features are in level 1 and tank features in level 3. I want to convert them to shape file in two types of shape: hut and tank. I have done the same but my problem is that I want a field "type" in attribute of hut and in type field value i want value of feature, let me explain ::: for hut_p output for "type" value should be "permanent", for hut_t value should be "temporary". similarly in the case of tank there will be one field in attribute table "type" which will have values : for tank_p value should be "perennial" and for tank_d value should be "dry". Hi, I am trying to solve an issue, where there is a not null column, and the required input is generated by the database. Normally, this would be achieved with something like the similar: INSERT INTO TEST_TABLE(NAME, FUNCTIONAL_ID) VALUES ("STEVE", schemaname.getFucntionalID()); I have achieved this in the workbench using the SQL EXECUTOR by populating a variable and passing that along the workflow, however, this is not efficient when thousands of records are required to be pulled across. Is there some way in FME, to specify this function call, so that it is handled by the database, and FME is not waiting for a response back. Just to give you an idea, a file that previously took about 15-20 seconds, is now taking 12 minutes using SQL Executor. Many Thanks, Steve

In order to keep correct informations about labels in MapInfo WOR files, is it possible to keep blank lines in MapInfo Tab file after tranformation? Hello everyone, I am new to working with Data beyond the basics, and have recently been placed in a position to start learning new ways to simplify workflow, and was pointed to the FME system to see what it can do. What I need is to populate an existing (empty rows) SQL database with data given by a client concerning their property assets in an .xlsx Excel spreadsheet, while being able to query and change the formatting of certain columns during the 'translation' process, instead of manually trying the built in import tool in SQL Server and then using a separate script file to individually query the desired column data. Hello, I have a problem to generate a unique ObjectId in Oracle. This is a Number. I want to copy data from a shape to Oracle. No problem for the data, but Oracle requires a Unique ObjectId. I can generate this once with a Counter, but I want to run the workbench daily with different shapes. So if I use the counter and let it start at 10, the next day it will also start with 10 and then Oracle doesn't accept te data because the ObjectId isn't unique. How can I let FME generate a Unique ObjectID each transformation? Thank you, Marlies

Hello! I use spatialfilter to know if 2 layers match each other. I would like to be informed if they match or not and export the result in a text file such as: "6 entities of layer A doesn't match layer B". I guess it's possible to do this with FME by including a SQL query but I don't know wich transformer or structur I should use? Thanks for helping me Hugo

I have had some great success using the KML "Generate Super Overlays" to create tiles of imagery that can be easily viewed using Google Earth. Now I would like to go the next step and show my DEM information textured with the imagery also in KML using Google Earth. I can certainly generate a KML file with the DEM data textured with the imagery as a 3D model that Google Earth can view. The problem of course is that I need to keep my files small (~1MB) so Google Earth can open them. And my DEM data is just as detailed as my imagery. I figure the solution must be similar to what the "Generate Super Overlays" does now. So the question is: How can I generate tiled 3D models and KMLs at various resolutions that will mimic the behavior and file setup of the "Generate Super Overlays"? What transformers should I be playing with to get this behavior? Thanks for any help you can give.

I'm trying to write a GeoPackage-Layer from a Shape file with linear Features. It' s not possible for me to define the Geometry parameter (it is grayed out), nor the geometries are transferred to the layer. I'm using FME 2016.1 on a Windows 10, 64 Bit-Computer. Any Help are appreciated.

Is there a way to validate the file version aside from parsing the log file? I am trying to validate if the file passed to the reader is the right version. If I pass to the reader a Microstation v7, but it expects v8 the job will fail with a message being written to the log file.

Is there some way to retrieve the URL to the specific list object when reading from Sharepoint Online? I read the list and got the attributes but I need the URL back to the object so I can make an email/slack-message with a hyperlink.

I am writing to FME 2016 and this worked in previous versions but not in 2016 so finding it quite frustrating that this does not work. I keep getting an error Column 'Type' of type 'char(10)' specified in mapping file but not defined in existing table. The type is based on conditional values. I've checked values in data inspector but it keeps falling every time I go to write my data.
