Creating points from lat/long fields

Usually I would use arcmap to displayXY (to draw the points from the lat/long fields) and then publish to AGOL, Can I do this in FME ?

Using Energy ADE in CityGML workspace

My workspace consists of conversion of shapefile -->> CityGML. It works quite fine. Now I decided to include some more properties into my model in form of Energy ADE. I decided to use this: http://www.sig3d.org/citygml/2.0/energy/0.5.0/ . After I have included this into my workspace, nothing has happend. Perhaps the reason is, I am pretty new in using ADE. Can you somebody help me with this issue? How to use custom ADE in CityGML?   Thanks a lot in advance.

Migrating Access Database to Oracle

FME: floating point precision issues (ArcSDE / FGDB)

I am working on a (generic) FME Workbenchthat clips and exports data from ArcSDE database into the File Geodatabase (FGDB) format. The SDE features are clipped using an AOI, that arrives in the workbench in the form of an ESRI JSON parameter. The ESRIJSON string / AOI is converted into a FME geometry using a ‘GeometryReplacer’. So far, so good.  AOI = {"rings" :[[[131064.8258, 451340.5549], [131064.8258,454729.4129], [135194.9964, 454729.4129], [135194.9964, 451340.5549], [131064.8258,451340.5549]]],"spatialReference" :{"wkid" : 28992}}  The first thing I notice is that after interpreting the AOI as a FME geometry some floating point differences occur. Which are not really a reason for concern at this point.:  Figure1 - AOI coordinates after interpreting the geometry.  The next step is to clip features from ArcSDE using the AOI. Save images folder in KMZ output

I am using the KML writer to save output as KMZ by specifying Destination KML Dataset as "myoutput.kmz". This works, but I have an icon referenced in the KML output in the Icon->href tag as: images/D2.png  How can I add the images/D2.png folder and file to the output KMZ?  Thanks

How to break down a JSON message

So i have been going through tutorials and JSON documents on safe.com and I cannot figure out how to bring out the attributes I need from this for my workbench. I am getting this http call in json format and I want to get this down to working with these attributes  action, custom_1, height, class, MATL_TYPE , F_ID, POLETYPE, F_ROUTE, F_O, F_Y, EMINY, EMINX, DATABASE_NAME, DESIGNATION, objectType  I cannot figure out the procedure to be able to pull these attributes out and their values to work with in my workbench. Copying GeoTiff Metadata

I'm new to FME Desktop so this may be a basic usage question. We are using Photoshop to process GeoTIFF files. However, since Photoshop is not aware of the spatial metadata in GeoTIFF files, the files it creates are saved as regular TIF files with no georeferencing. Would it be possible to copy the spatial metadata from the original GeoTIFF and apply it to the TIF that Photoshop creates? Thanks -Mark

After removing arcs: Automatic simplification of the geometry (for PostGIS etc.)

Hi FME community  Spatial objects in FME that include arcs consist of several segments, each belonging to an arc or a subsequent series of straight lines. When you use the transformer ArcStroker to get rid of the arcs, you still have these separate segements (whereby each of them belongs now to a series of straight lines).  When you write these objects (polygons in my case) into PostGIS, they are automatically stored as "CurvePolygon" which cause problems. It needs a lot of transformers to decompose (donut-)polygons into their individual buildings blocks and to rebuild them.  My question therefore is: Is there a transformer or parameter to set so that the required simplification of the object's data structure after removing arcs happens automatically? If not, it would be desirable that Safe Software introduces this Feature in future Versions of FME. I mean are there any reasons to keep the polylines separated by segments after the removal of arcs?  Greetings, Andre

Database Schema to Custom Writer Format - .EV extension

I have a custom format I am trying to write to. It's for consumption into a program called Petrel (used for 3D modelling in the oil and gas industry) and ends with a .ev format. PostgreSQL UNIQUE constraint alternative.

 Having a unique constraint on a table is there a way to avoid FME stoping the bulk copy or insert simply ignoring the duplicate values and keep on with the translation, just reporting the warning ?  Or would be there any other alternative to UNIQUE constraints to avoid duplicates entering database without stopping the translation ?  Cheers

DXF Tagsets to DGN Tagsets

I received dxf coming from Eplan Electrical schema's. Opening the dxf in Microstation shows that Tagsets are available but not working correctly. The batch Conversion tool in Microstation works correct but it is tedious.  With FME level, line, color, text etc mapping are easy, but I can't get the tagsets to behave correctly. The Tags are all in one Tagset instead of linked to their specific Cell.  Ideas/exemples anyone?

Optimum settings for MS SQL Spatial Database writer.

Our workflows creates a MS SQL Spatial database. However we are getting a significant amount of Linestring type entities when we open the same database in Postgis. What are the optimum defaults in the sql spatial writer which could avoid the problem. Are there any other steps we could add to our shape file preparation workflow which could also assist with the issue?

FME Server SMTP Publisher (winmail.dat)

Hello,  I am running FME Cloud and have been receiving a "winmail.dat" file in the email attachments and my feature reader that recognizes the attachments from the publisher is having difficulties with it. I read recently that Server has developed the ability to handle these files and extract the info from them, but I have yet to discover how.   Any help is much appreciated.

ArcSDE30 Writer GlobalID specified in mapping file but not defined in existing table

For some reason my FME translation is not recognizing the GlobalID column in my target feature class. I can see the GlobalID column in ArcCatalog and the DBA sees it on the table in SQL Server Studio also. Any suggestions about what could be wrong or missing?  2015-11-02 15:14:15| 12.9| 0.0|ERROR |Column 'GlobalID' of type 'guid' specified in mapping file but not defined in existing table 'DBO.T_TRANSMISSIONSTRUCTURE'   I'm using FME 2015.1.1.0 build 15515 64-bit. This is a new version for me and I was using FME 2013 SP1 previously.

Revit to DGN: Tags Writing not working

Hello all,  I'm having an issue with writing tags to a DGN file. I have a Revit file which I've converted to the Revit FME format and am writing straight to DGN. When I write it without tags it works, however when I switch on tags and map across the attributes, I get a series of warning messages:  WARN |DESIGN WRITER: Tag writing is currently not supported for the associated element  WARN |DESIGN WRITER: Could not find the tag value. This may result into creating an empty tag. Make sure the feature has the attribute 'Analytical Properties.Absorptan' set with an appropriate value  It repeats this for several of the attributes, then:  Further instances of this message will be suppressed  Then the log hangs (like it's processing). I left the workspace open overnight, it didn't complete.   Thanks in advance for any help. Amit

KML styler for 75K points?

I am trying to style the KML to handle 75K points.  Yes, that is a lot. But let's see if I can do this before I start using FME to subsample. I would love to see it all overlaid on a google earth map.  I figured out how to hide the Label, and make the icon smaller, but I really want this to be just a one or four pixel icon for each point, and any other  tips you can give me to make Google Earth render faster.

Automatic Language Change while Writing

Hi,  I have a shapefile and I am writing the output according to the according to the attributr name of the input shapefile. The input shapefile has korean language. Now, if I export the according to the attribute, language is not getting exported correctly by FME. How can we resolve this issue !!

Write to ArcGIS Online Hosted Table

Hi There,  I'm throwing this out there in desperation. I'm trying to find a way to keep a hosted table updated within ArcGIS Online. Unfortunately, I've found that it is not possible to write data to a table service in the same way we can write to a feature service using FME. Has anyone devised a way to write rows to a table that is hosted in ArcGIS Online (or some other service)?  I suspect it will have to be done using JSON and the REST API but being a bit of a novice in this area of the cloud I'm seeking some pointers.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  Warren

Oracle Spatial to SHAPE

Hello,  I have a workbench which reads featureclasses from parameters i.e. Oracle tables. I linked this parameter to "Feature Types To Read". Oracle Sptial Reader is used to read these feature classes and write it out to SHAPE. This works fine. Just want to know is there any other efficient way to achieve this. As I don't know how many tables I may need to pass in parameter.  Cheers, John

expand and contract rows and sum total at the bottom in excel

I am using statistics calculator to fill in the total number of features from a datasource.  I want to expand and contract that list in excel dependent on non zero.I also want a grand total at the bottom to be just below the last row. Do I need to get the max number of possible rows to use in a parameter? Do I need to create a parameter to count those rows and make that parameter the location +1 of my grand total?
