I need to create heat maps on an hourly basis using FME. Is there a third party service I can call from FME or a technique that works well?

Now that FME supports 'R' (RCaller) you might try some of the R tools for creating heatmaps, i.e.:

The answers already given cover the creation of heatmaps. But maybe you are also wondering how to create them on an hourly basis?

For FME Desktop you can make use of the Task Scheduler in windows or a Cronjob in Linux to start the created workspace.

Btw. If you should just visualise your (point)data. You also might want to take a look at QGIS where you can chose the 'heatmap' option to style your data.
