To that extent is it possible to automate deployment with ansible or chef. So far barely a mention about it on the internet. What does Safe Software recommend?

A question coming from an organisation with many machines installed with FME servers (40+). Next to the installation we also require a lot of time in configuration for the FME server deployments. We would like to automate deployment and configuration in the near future. We have found Ansible and Chef and also Kubernetes. With kubernetes we have succesfully deployed FME server on premise. The only major issue is the esri dependency of Arcpy scripts and SDE databases. Therefore we are looking for Ansible as a serious candidate for automation. We would like to automate as much as possible, not only because it saves times, but also to make sure all the machines are perfectly similarily deployed. Any tips or recommendations from other users/Safe software? Thanks in advance.

General way of working with a FME Server deployment on Docker

I'm very new to the concept of deploying things within a Docker environment. As far as I know, FME Server works perfectly fine with this but what about the interaction with FME Server after it´s up and running. Are you as a workspace author just uploading your workspaces like you do on a normal FME Server on a regular Windows plattform? Same with FME Projects? My second question is if there is a way to use Docker and Jenkins to install FME Projects instead of the normal way through FME Server Gui import/export. RegardsStefan

We have just upgraded to build 22789 and the install of fme desktop to one of the machines seemed to succeed but when I try and launch desktop it crashes

Use of fmeobjects (python)

I have a workflow which calls Workspaces from a python script (Python 3.7.2 running in Spyder). Because of an issue/bug I encountered, I was advised to install the newest version of FME and see if the problem persists. Now I cannot get my scripts to work again. This works:sys.path.append("C:\\Program Files\\FME\\fmeobjects\\python37") import fmeobjects (...) runner = fmeobjects.FMEWorkspaceRunner()  (...)runner.runWithParameters(ws, parameters) (...) This doesn't:sys.path.append("C:\\Program Files\\FME2022_2_3\\fmeobjects\\python37") import fmeobjects (...) runner = fmeobjects.FMEWorkspaceRunner()  (...)runner.runWithParameters(ws, parameters) All I did was change the path from the old installation to the new one.It fails, saying the module is not found  File "c:/data/data.py", line 24, in <module>   import fmeobjects ImportError: DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found. It seems it actually finds "fmeobjects", but something else is missing. I suspect some underl

How to change host for FME Server

Info:We 2 server for FME Server and web application:-- FME Server has been installed in server with IP B ( xx.xx.xx.123). port 8080- Web Application installed in IP A ( xx.xx.xx.456). port 80The web apps has domain name https://urdomain.comThen, we use proxy so that FME server URL become https://urdomain.com/fmeserver. Problem:During installation, hostname being input as sysadmin with port 8080. After run Workspace, the output can be downloaded via URL shown in figure below.However, remote user cannot access it as it supposely to use http://urdomain.com/fmedatadownload/results/XXXX.zip What have been done:My teammate then change service host from http://sysadmin:8080 to https://urdomain.com/fmeserver which then cause the workspace cannot be run. It cannot be Run as it produce error 404.

Where are the user prefrences stored?

I was wondering where I can derive the path name where the user preferences are stored (such as color background white or black for example). I was looking at tools> fme options > default paths, but it seems it's not there. Where can I find it?

FME Server deployment in AKS - Flux won’t deploy it as the naming of the Helm chart isn’t in line with Helm best practices

No FME Server Database after 2022.2 in place upgrade on Ubuntu 20.04.5 with existing PostGreSQL 15.2 installation.

SetupPostGreSQL.log has the following error returned for each command:...Permission denied for schema Public. This is the same setup which has been in use for Server 2021 Thank you in advance!Brek

3-tier installation network port

Hi eveyrone,I'm trying to setup a 3-tier installation and I can't find the required network ports used by each component. I have a communication error between the engines and the core.  Error communicating with FME Server host xxxxx-fme-engine. FME Desktop Install on Ubuntu 20.04 Failed

did you ever lose deported engines from core server ?

Hello ! We have 1 core server and 2 engines servers in 3 differents VLANs, all needed ports are open and tested but without an application job, the core server loses the engines independently after 2 hours maximum. We need to suppress the engines in the hosts section and to re-add it to restore the engine. We worked around network questions, we opened all ports for tests, around systems (applicative services still running), we tried to modify the fmeEngineConfig.tx but no way. Could you please help us ? (french systems)Thank you !

Configuring HTTPS using a PFX or P12 Certificate -- localhost insecure

Using the instructions, we were unable to use Chrome create the .cer file. We had to use Internet Explorer. In the Verify HTTPS configuration step, localhost produced an insecure connection although using the hostname produced a secure connection. How can this issue be corrected?

Workspace Reader

I have a couple of reasonably complex workspace that I have used the Worskpace reader to extract some data from. I have attached the image below to show where I am currently at. I have all the data but my question is "WHAT NOW", how do I use this data to it's best, and to explain what is going on in the workspace to the average person so it is understandable, and out put in a user friendly format. I thought someone may have some examples of what they did and how they used their data as documentation. I have watched the Video from tensing which was good but it really doesn't explain the how and final documents very well. Thank You.

Unable to Load All Queues Due to Job Router Connection Issue

I had an issue in on of my lower environments where the FME Server related services (Application Server, Server Core, Server Database, Server Engines) were stopped and switched to Local System Log On keeping the workbench from being able to access the necessary source data directories. I reconfigured the services to log on using the established service account and am now receiving the following error."There was an error submitting the job. COM.safe.fmeserver.api.FMEServerException: Could not load all queues due to connection issue to job router. Please try again."Has anybody experienced this and have a solution?

I can't return fme license to license manager.

Hi, I have tried this method: https://community.safe.com/s/article/cannot-check-out-floating-license-but-have-borroweit didn't work. I have been given 2 accounts by my IT. my normal account, with locked license, I can't return the license because everytime I try to open fme desktop it shuts down itself. licenses are available. But, when I try to open fme desktop with my local admin account it opens just fine. BUT in license manager it shows as I am using 2 licenses?

Hi all, What happens to the client application (server or desktop) if floating licenses are used and the connection to the license server is lost?

I understand that the license server will check the licenses back in if it loses contact with the client, but will the client continue to function with its already checked-out license, or having lost the connection to the license server does it stop working until it has a valid connection to the license server again?

Download sizes of FME ?

As usual, when a new version is released, I download both desktop, server, and engine, just in case.One thing puzzles me though: Why is the engine download so big (3.9g) ?It's 600Mb bigger than the full server (3.3g), and more than 2Gb larger than desktop (1.7g), which I would assume should be very similar in content to engine.What is the extra 2Gb of dead weight in the engine download ?Cheers.

Is it possible to install a package (BIM360connector) to a shared folder instead of the user profile?

I would like to install the transformer AutodeskBIM360DocsConnector o a shared folder instead of an user profiel. That way the transformer can be used by all employees without having to install it in every profile. As we work in Citrix the package is not installed completely and needs to be finished manually for each profile.

Floating license server configuration with CNAME

We want to set up our Flex licensing server using a CNAME instead of a server name. When submitting the license request do we just enter the full CNAME of the machine in the hostid field of the form? e.g. lic.prd.companyname.nl Will this work via the submission form? Thanks,Annette

Is there already a date know for the release of FME 2022.2 ?

We can only do one software upgrade a year because of restrictions from our IT department. Would be good to know if if we can wait for that and benefit from some bug fixes or just have to go with 2022.1

Is it possible to configure that FME destkop closes off his session after a certain duration (x minutes) and the changes are saved?

At the moment we are dealing with not enough licenses, part of the problem is naturally to buy new licenses, however sometimes users have their FME workbench session open for a long time, while they are not doing anything at all in the FME workbench. So I think it would partly solve the problem of not enough licenses, if inactive FMe desktop workbenches are closed down after a certain duration. Is something like that possible to configure for the users of FME desktop. It would be nice, if the changes made are saved automatically and no changes made are lost.
