An automation reads a message from a JMS queue and should trigger a workspace, the message content is passed as an automation parameter. This message is valid json, however we’ve had some cases where the message is something along the lines of{ "ID": "1234", "Notes": "Careless typing} includes a right hand curly brace"}This is valid json but the job fails with a status of FME_FAILURE and a statusMessage of  "extra characters after close-brace". How should the message be passed to the workspace if json like the above example leads to failure to submit?

Hello, I’m struggling with the logic/approach on this one. I have a spreadsheet of fuel filters. So in the spreadsheet, it looks kind of like this: Unit#/Fuel 1/Fuel2/Air 1/Air212/abc123/abc223/airf123/airf12413/abc123/abc212/airf123/airf124 I want to create output data that looks something like this: Unit/Filter Class/Filter Number12/Fuel Filter/abc12312/Fuel Filter/abc22312/Air Filter/airf12313/Fuel Filter/abc12313/Fuel Filter/abc212 Hopefully this makes sense.Any thoughts on an approach, or some transformers I should work with? Cheers!​​​​​

This question came up at my office today.   Can I have two FME Flow engines at different versions installed on the same Windows Server?  I’m guessing that the answer is no but I wanted to get official verification on that.

Hi,I have two Oracle tables: POINTS_TABLE and LINES_TABLE. I’m trying to export both tables to DGN.  I’m using “Bentley MicroStation Desing (V8)” writer. In writer parameters, I filled out “Cell library file”, and now I’m trying to do something to fill “CellName”. How should I do it, to have different “CellName” value for POINTS_TABLE and for LINES_TABLE in my output dgn file?

I am struggling to save text as a hyperlink in Excel. I tried using this formula:=HYPERLINK("http://www.1spatial.com/fme","http://www.1spatial.com/fme")However, the outcome in Excel didn’t work as expected.  Does anyone have any idea why it behaves this way?

Using an Esri ArcGIS Portal Feature Service Reader to read attachments, RasterReplacer fails on the attachment blob with INVALID_FEATURE_CANNOT_READ_BLOB. Enable Attachments='Y' on the reader, the arcgisonline_attachment{} list is exposed, and arcgisonline_attachment{}.data contains data. I am able to manually download jpg attachments from Portal successfully. I've tried all the image formats in RasterReplacer against the jpg in Portal. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! FME 2019.2.1.0, Portal 10.6.1

Hello,I am working on converting point cloud data from the E57 format to the LAS format. However, I’ve encountered an issue with the intensity component.In the original E57 file, the intensity values range between 0 and 1. After the conversion, the intensity values in the LAS file become a constant integer with five digits.I would appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how to retain the original intensity format during the conversion process.

Overwritting .shp files gives mixed results so my workaround is to delete the .shp file(s) first and then create the new version.  But I can not figure out how to do that --I read somewhere that writers have a ‘delete’ setting for the ‘fme_db_operation’ parameter but I can not locate that anywhere.  Can anybody tell me if FME has the ability to delete the .shp files in a folder?  Thanks!  Lewis

Hello, I have a pdf report that I need to parse out. I can read it and create a line by line list. It has a line with employee code/name, then subsequent lines with codes and their values associated to the employee. Here is a sample of the report and then what it looks like when it is read in. I can get it split nicely into rows/columns/attributes no problem. My issue is that I dont know how to break it up in each employees portion and add the employee number to each row.There would be a few hundred employees. So in the end I want to be able to spit out a table that has the columns:Employee num, Code, Description, units, extensions,etc I am very new to FME and just struggling to get it figured out. I dont know if I should be using some kind of loop, python code, aggreator etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!  

Hi all, I’d like to classify polygons by shape, these might include: pie shaped, L shaped, T shaped.I was originally thinking that I’d have to convert them to raster and use some sort of supervised classification. Another method might be to convert them to centerlines and compare their linework: a T shape polygon would have 1 or 2 lines at the top, meeting at 90degrees to another line point downwards

I need to update an ArcGIS Online feature service using something other than 'OBJECTID' field. In previous versions, I was able to set the "Update Key Field" in the 'Properties' dialog box of the AGOL Writer. In 2017.1 that option is gone. I can't find any documentation or examples on how to set the Update Key Field to something else.Any suggestions?

We currently run all our FME jobs as an AD service account.  Unless a workspace uses SQL Authentication for DB access, all DB access occurs as this service account.  This has turned into a security concern and I’m sure others have dealt with this.  Which of the following is the best solution or what have I missed?It sounds like the new FME licensing allows unlimited engines.  Could we create a new engine for each workspace and run it as the service account with DB access, and access to network shares?  Kindly point me to steps to do this.Group Managed Service Accounts - can a FME workspace run as a gMSA? Use SQL Authentication instead of Windows Authentication for DB access.  I understand FME encrypts passwords but we’d still use the FME service account to access a ton of resources.How do others handle FME jobs and access to resources?

I’m using an IMAP email trigger for an automation where I’m using the content of the email in a workbench with the goal of delivering a JSON payload to Cityworks to automatically create a new Work Order.I’ve set up a User Parameter in the workbench to receive data from the the email. When I use the “Event as JSON” option for the parameter in FME Flow, the message body is being delivered to the workbench as HTML. This crashes the JSON being delivered. Everything up to the body is fine, but the message body doesn’t make it over, and everything that follows the body is also lost.I’ve been able to get the message content into a workbench by using the individual headings such as “Email Body”, “Email Subject”,  “Sent from Address” headings in Flow as the parameters to pass, but doing it this way does not allow you to use the JSON transformers in the workbench.Essentially what I am needing to do is receive JSON formatted data in a workbench from the IMAP email trigger, create attributes from

Hi! I have tried searching for an answer to this problem with no luck, so i thought i’d try making my first post in this forum!I am working with a polygon layer containing cities. I want to dissolve all overlappning cities by removing common boundaries and thus create fewer but bigger areas. The issue i have is that i want to sort this dissolving/mergeing by the population-attributute of the cities. In some cases there are  20+  polygons dissolved into one, and i want to make sure that the output polygon inherits the attribute information from the city with the largest population. I’ve tried using list-arrays of both population and city-names on the dissolved areas with little success, so i am very unsure of how to proceed.  Does anyone have any tips how to solve this?Many thanks!//Andréa  

I have MSSQL ESRI Entrerprise Geodatabases that are non-versioned but have archiving enabled. As far as I have figured out, there are no ESRI tools that easily copy data with the full archive of the feature class.If it was versioned I could use the ESRI tools for replication…What is the current best methods for an operation like this?

Hi, is it possible to upload a file to the FME Flow shared resource folder through the Flow REST API? I tried to setup a POST request for fmerest/v3/resources/connections/<resource>/filesys/<path> but get a 415 Unsupported Media Type Response. I used the following parameters in Postman:In this example I want to upload the text file “test.txt” to the shared resource folder “Test”. Is there a problem with the request, or is this the wrong approach for uploading a file via the REST API? The goal would be to provide a means for external applications to upload files that are then processed by FME Flow. Thank you for your help!

We have enabled Version Control to an external repository on FME Flow. Are there any best practices for managing Workbenches in development in FME Form?   My current thought, which I haven't spent much time developing, is to recommend that once a Workbench is uploaded to Flow, the desktop version is archived and any future work on the Workbench must be done by Downloading from Flow and Republishing. Basically, to insist that all work must be done from Workbenches from Flow.  The downside I can see from this is that there is no way to force developers to follow that. Any suggestions?

I have set up an automation process that retrieves information from an API to generate a report. However, this task has become complicated because an essential piece of information we need to include in the report is located in a different API, which requires an ID to access the relevant data.I am considering generating the report first, which will consist of the necessary IDs. Then, I plan to make a second API call to retrieve the information from the second API, one ID at a time. I have successfully completed the first part, but I am now stuck on the second part and unsure whether this can be achieved using FME or if a Python script is the only solution.

Hi,  I am using the Change Detector transformer and had planned on using the Match all Except Selected Attributes parameter for the Attribute Matching Strategy since my list of excluded fields is shorter than the list of included fields.  I'm wondering if this parameter is working as it should?  Everything appears to have changed when I used this parameter (which is not correct).  However, when I reverse it and use the Match Selected Attributes (and select all the appropriate fields), it works as expected.  I can use the transformer the way that I have it working but I was wondering if I am missing something?  Thanks, fiona  P.S. I'm using FME 2013 Build 13264 WIN 32 with SDE 10.1 data (from SQL Server).
