We have hundreds of mappings we execute via command line.  We have implemented standards regarding the use of source, destination, and logging user parms.We started our 2024 migration and found a bug while trying to pass in our --LOG_FILE parm from the cmnd line (fme ...fmw --LOG_FILE xxx).The workspace will not execute and throws this error:ERROR : Unable to open log file `X:\...\FME\X_\...\Log\mapping_name.log'ERROR : The preceding error has occurred during FME logfile setupFor some reason, in 2024 it is always prefixing the log location with the location of the fme workspace.The only workaround I found to get the log file to write in our desired location was to eliminate the --LOG_FILE parm and use LOG_FILENAME instead.I have opened a ticket with Safe and have not heard anything back.  Having to modify hundreds of workspace executions is a show stopper. 

Hey all, In my previous post It was suggested to use TempPathnameCreator to download these files and once processed, the location and file will be deleted, saving disk space. However, I am unable to view any data in the FeatureReader. In this instance, my FeatureReader has 905 records under the <Generic> Port, but when I view it via Feature Caching, it says “No Schema” for the attribute name and all the values are empty. However, If i click the Columns and hit “select all” it seems that I can actually see the tables, but I can’t seem to access the data with an attribute remover or the likes. Do I need to expose some attribute within the Generic Port <Attributes to Expose>?Any help will be appreciated! Thank you!

Hello,I have an excel files with values in it. I read the excel file, want to use the value from column E (value is 45), use it in a math formular and calculate a new value. At the end the result should be written in to a Feature class in a FGDB. The transformer I want to use is expression value. But the calculation doesn’t work. Has anyone an idea? Thank you!Teresa  

Hello, I have 4 excel documents hosted on SharePoint, I am using a FeatureReader taking in a temp download path.  As can be seen the 4 items are being opened successfully in the featurereader, but the data is not grouped in any meaningful way for me to extract and sort out the various excel documents data (which is varying formatting, some have multiple tabs with differing data/headers between them, as you can see there are 14 schemas (total tabs within excel docs), and 1546 generic bits of data (total rows))I’ve read that I can re-group the datasets by using fme_basename but I cannot work out how to expose this, I’ve found the post below, which offers suggestions of how to expose that data. But the solution it offers is not applicable, I am using version  Does anyone know how I can expose the fme_basename?ORIs there a better way to do this?     

Hi! I have a new question today. I want to create centerlines on highways. Now, long lines, without intersections, work fine. However, i get wrong results when fme encounters a intersection, like in the pictures below. I expected this and tried to solve it, but it only became worse.  Does anyone know a right way to do it? Thanks in advance!    

I have got some beautiful Excel templates containing tables (not normal ranges). It's quite easy to write to a named range within Excel but I haven't figured out how to write to a Table. Does anyone know how to do so?

Hi,I have a parameter that I have set in an FME Server/Flow app that is conditional on another parameter. I.e. The first is set by the user in an app. If there is a certain value, then it would require you two set a secondary variable.I used to have this set as a simple ‘dropdown’ choice, which then would require a simple text input (if needed). I tried to change the original parameter to a ‘choice list’ instead, to make it easier to follow, but this is causing me issues.When I preview how this looks in FME Form it works exactly how I want to. Though when I try to on Flow it doesn’t show/require the secondary parameter. Is this a bug? Or something I can fix? I am constrained to version 2023.2.1.0 (23774) for at least the foreseeable futureAny advice would be appreciated, I can’t seem to get it to work no matter what I try

I have an excel file that has a list of addresses, and their associated license number.I want to join this to a geodatabase file to output any parcels that have any of the addresses in the excel file.  I can’t seem to make that work.  Can anybody point me in the right direction?  I’ve tried FeatureJoiner and FeatureMerger and can’t seem to get any output without failure.

I’m using the Data Interoperability extension in ArcGIS Pro.  I can’t seem to get a excel reader to add in.  I’ll set the parameters, it’s not open anywhere else, it’s not password protected or anything like that, and it’s on my local system.   When I click ok to add it, fme acts like it’s trying to add it, but then just sits there and spins until it eventually times out.   What am I doing wrong?  I haven’t used FME in about 7 years or so, but I used it extensively prior to that and never had this sort of issue.

 Hello Forum, I’ve set up a simple workspace to convert a csv with eastings and northings (EPSG:27700) to a csv with long lat (EPSG:4326). This is working OK. The workspace is something I’m going to use quite often, so I’m keen to automate it as much as possible. Is it possible to automatically make the ‘CSV File Name’ value in in the FeatureWriter (Parameters tab) the same as the input csv name. For example, if my input csv is called ‘Properties030225.csv’, then when this reaches the FeatureWriter the default ‘CSV File Name’ value in in the FeatureWriter (Parameters tab) is ‘Reprojected’. Instead, I would want that default csv file name to be the name of the input .csv. In this case, Properties030225.csv. Yes, of course, I could type in Properties030225.csv in, but I don’t want to do that every time. Instead, I want it to automatically pick up on the input file name. How can I do this? Thanks,Stuart

Hi there,I recently installed ArcPro 3.2 on my machine with the data interoperability extension. Looking under the hood, the data interoperability extension uses this FME version, FME(R) 2022.2.1.0 (20221202 - Build 22776 - WIN64). When I use the WorkspaceRunner transformer to run a simple workspace (read a text file and view in inspector), the transformer fails to read the published parameter, is says "Specified workspace has no parameters or could not be read". I am using a WorkspaceRunner so that I can run multiple times the same FME workbench on different DNG separately. Just to be clear I will call the WorkspaceRunner to the workbench that runs the “child” workbench, and i will just call Workbench to the child workbench. I was all working fine the first times and now I find that some User Parameter (in my case “DNG”) I was “sending” from the WorkspaceRunner to the Workbench is not working anymore (I didn’t change the parameter in the WorkspaceRunner but maybe i used it in more places inside my Workbench). When I run it directly inside my Workbench it makes no problem. HiQuick question before I fall back on trial and error, because my dataset is quite big, but does anyone know if changing the partitioning attribute order on a partitioned parquet writer determines the partition folder hierarchy?  The doc says its the schema order which determines the partition hierarchy, I’m hoping to override the reader’s attribute order.  I’m hoping manually editing the writer attribute order will determine partition hierarchy.  Thanks.

Hi All, I am trying to gather information on upgradeable transformers and see that current version is available as part of fmw file extension. I want to know where does it get the information on latest version, Is this information saved somewhere. In this example, AttributeManager is currently at ver 2 but latest version is ver 4. I am not sure where this version information stored. Thanks   

I am using FME Form 2021. I have been running two workspaces for about a year now. These upload spreadsheets to an SFTP site. Every once in a while, I get this error message: The FTPCaller Error Message from the Rejected Port:Error in the SSH layer This error prevents the spreadsheets from being uploaded to the SFTP site. Usually, the error seems to go away after a few days with nothing done on my end, and then the workspaces run normally. There does not seem to be a pattern of when the error is received. I checked the Log Files, and they show nothing unusual. I checked with our IT Network Admins, and they say nothing is blocking files from being uploaded to the SFTP Site.  Here is a screenshot of the parameters in the FTPCaller Transformer I use:  Questions:What is the cause of this error?Could the error be on the side of the folks who manage the SFTP site? Hi, our ArcMap license will expired tomrrow and will not renew after it expired. Also, I have Arcgis pro installed on my machine and the license is valid (will not expire).Currently all of my script setting is set AUTO under the “Esri ArcGIS Compatibility” . Will the AUTO setting  pick to ArcGIS Pro license, after ArcMap license is expired? or do i have to manually set to ArcGIS Pro in each FMW script individually?“FME Workspace, go to Navigator --> Workspace Parameter --> Translation --> Esri ArcGIS Compatibility   --> AUTO”thanks,Wilson

Ultimate Goal: to use FME to test if there are ESRI annotations that fall on top of each other.  Issue being experienced: When the ESRI annotation is displayed in FME Inspector, the annotation has been shifted.  My theory is the “shift” is something to do with the annotation is left justified in ArcGIS Pro and its placement of the annotation is based on a point in the bottom left corner.  In FME the annotation point seems to be placed along the bottom centre.  Question: Is there a way to have FME place the ESRI Annotation based on the same placement point?ORHow can we shift the annotation when being viewed in FME so that it is placed half of the width of the annotations to the left along the annotation axes?   ArcGIS Pro: 3.2.3ArcGIS SDE: SQL 2022FME Form: FME(R) 2024.1.3.0 (20240927 - Build 24627 - WIN64)FME Annotation Reader Format: Esri Geodatabase (ArcSDE Geodb) See attached imagery for example of annotation shift.  

I’m converting 135 Revit models to GIS but the coordinate system is not setting (location is Philidelphia but data is appearing in Ohio).  I’ve tried setting the coordinate system (NAD 83, Pennsylvania state plane south, US foot) in the writer and using CoordinateSystemSetter.  Individual models appear properly in ArcGIS Pro.  I’m really baffled by this one; probably something simple I’m missing.

I have a closed polygon dataset that I need to add angle labels to the internal angle.I just wanted to see if anyone has done a similar thing or has some advice on the best way.I am using the “VertexAngleCalculator” transformer which gives me the results for the actual angles but need to figure out the before and after lines to the calculate the position and angle of the label so it is just offset from the vertex and angled midway between the before and after lines towards the interior of the polygon. 

We are trying to update our on-prem FLOW (from version 2023.2) and I have successfully created the backup but am unable to determine the location of where the file was saved to.  The FLOW interface does not provide any clues as it does not indicate the target directoy (please see attached screen grab).  And doing a seach on my C and D drives with keyword ‘.fsconfig’ yelds no results. Where does the backup file get saved to?  Thanks!
