Where can one find the system cleanup log files on FME Flow (2023.2; build 23764)? I’m testing cleaning up a folder under Resources/Temp. I don't see any corresponding logs under Jobs or System Configuration → System Cleanup. Or, is it possible to test a specific cleanup task on FME Flow? I’m currently at the mercy of whenever system cleanup runs, which is vaguely set to once a day at no set time so not ideal for testing.

Hi All, I am trying to configure Portal from FME Forms and having this issue. I followed instructions from this earlier post. Failing to connect to Esri ARCGIS Portal | Community. While testing Web Connection in FME Forms, I get this error. I am not sure what is causing this error? Appreciate any input. Thanks  

HelloI have set up a feature reader, reading a geopackage and have also set up a user parameter requesting the GSS code from the user to find.When i add “gsscode” = $(LOCALAUTHORITY) nothing is exited via the reader, however, if i remove the where clause from the reader and add a tester with gsscode = $(LOCALAUTHORITY) everything works as expected.Please see images below, but any ideas what is wrong.  I dont mind having a tester, but would just like to remove it and use the WHERE Clause..Regards Andy Feature Reader Parameter  Tester 

Hello and happy 2025!Was speculating on feature types selection possibilities when reading as a single merged feature type with a wildcard on flow.My scenario being that a user will drag and drop a DWG to a Flow tool and then that said tool would read it in and then display all the feature types (layers) that said DWG consists of  in a list. Where the user could then check a box in front of each and every layer they need and afterwards select “Run” to start the main tool (which is a conversion into another file format).Thus the tool not converting all features/layers within a file but only a selected few which are selected like one does for example with the “Feature types to read” option in the FeatureReader.Anyone here done this before that wishes to share?

Hi,I think this question has been asked before, but the links in its answer were broken so I’m unsure what the answer was.If anyone is able to put me in the right direction that would be greatBasically I have a complicated workspace doing a few things on large files. In order to make it more efficient I would like to know if there is a reasonably easy way to get a rough indication how long each individual transformer was running in total. Then I can get an idea of where bottle necks are, or things I could improve.Currently I just look through the log to see if something takes a while, but that's tedious. Is there a better way? Is it possible to get some sort of summary how long each transformer takes to run?I do run the workspace on FME server/flow, though I do test it locally as well.Thanks

When reading a file from the web the only options available to configure the client is the Authentication section. In some cases it is needed to tweak some of the client settings in order for requests to properly get though. Sometimes it would be nice to add custom headers or change the SSL settings for example.Of course the workaround is to just stick a HTTPCaller followed by a feature reader, however, this also means that you need to deal with temp files etc etc which just adds complexity to the workspace

Hi all,Currently I have a process that gets an excel file from an open data site, saves it into a Network File share location, and then i read it back into my workbench to continue my ETL process.(Download I am using from open.canada.ca: https://data.ontario.ca/dataset/7a049187-cf29-4ffe-9028-235b95c61fa3/resource/6545c5ec-a5ce-411c-8ad5-d66363da8891/download/private_school_contact_information_eng.xlsx)I would like to stream line the process by avoiding the need to download the file and then reading it into my workbench. I’d rather save it to an attribute and go from there. When I use a BinaryDecoder with default settings, it’s able to read the attributes (see attached image) from the attached HTTPCaller, however, when I run it, It just fails with this huge hexadecimal error log. FYI, I am running FME Workbench 2022.2, and I shared a portion of my workbench in the attached zip. Anyone have a similar process that can provide some guidance? I have 3 Excel files and each one has multiple sheets [T1(sheet1, sheet2..,etc), T2 (sheet1, Sheet2,..etc), T3(sheet1, sheet2,...etc). The names of the sheets in all files are identical and the name of the fields in each sheet are identical too but fill with different data. I need to join or merge each sheet from one Excel file with the corresponding one from the others based on a common field (ID) and have one excel file. I did different attempts but I did not get the right results. Could you help please.

Hi everyone,I'm trying to replicate the "Explode" functionality of ArcGIS Pro in FME. The Explode tool in ArcGIS Pro breaks multipart geometries into individual single-part features. For example, if I have a multipart polygon, it will split it into multiple single-part polygons, each becoming a separate feature in the output.I've looked into the GeometryPartExtractor, but I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct transformer or how to configure it properly for this task. Is there a specific transformer or method in FME that is directly equivalent to ArcGIS Pro's Explode?Any advice or examples would be greatly appreciated!Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello everyone,I am trying to use the change detector to compare changes from the current input data compared with previous runs to filter out Features that have not changed in order to save some processing time.  In order to do that I create a hash using the CRCCalculator and save that away. With each new run those hashes are compared agains the previously saved hashes. The ChangeDetector gives me pause though.For some tables the ChangeDetector identifies changes where there are none. Whats more is, when I rerun the ChangeDetector, second time around the results are as expected without changing anything in the workspace. Maybe anyone has some insight into what could be going on here?1st time running identifies updated features that arent updated at all2nd time running without changing anything: different (this time correct) results

Hi all,I’m facing some troubles converting IFC data to Cesium 3D Tiles.Background:I have several IFC files containing mostly 3D objects concerning civil engineering source coordinate system: EPS:2056 different, user-defined PropertySets different IFC versionsGoal:Cesium 3D Tiles with all attributes (PropertySets)What I did so far (transformers in FME):Adding a dynamic reader with autodetecting IFC version Extracting PropertySets from Geometry Doing some cleaning on Geometry, i.e. removing extra Bounding Boxes and adding Vertex Normals Scanning the schema Writing dynamically to Cesium3DTiles FME Version: 2024.2.1.0 (Build 24801)Problems:some features are missingI cannot see why some features/objects are missing. They obiously run through all transformers until the writer. hello there we need to calculate the length of each polygon edge , the polygona could be in irregular shape considering the polygon is 4 edges if we use chopper or Geometrycoercer  transformer we get many edge  we are suppose to get only 4 Thanks

Hello everyoneI am trying to do the following: My workspace writes into a database. I have set a user parameter to give the user an option “delete Database and start a fresh database OR continue adding data onto existing data”. In case of deleting the Database the creation of IDs (which are created in the Process) should start at 1. In case of adding data to the existing database the creation of IDs should continue from whatever the max value already existing in the database is.I believe this should work as follows using a YES/NO User Parameter.Test Filter on that User Parameter:YES → Sampler (create single initiator) → SQL Executor (delete all data with “delete from tables”)NO → Sampler (create single initiator) → Feature Reader on Database → Statistics Calculator (extract max ID) Now in a different path within the workspace I have a Counter which I use to create the IDs. I thought I could simply use a conditional Value set on my YES/NO User Parameter withYES → Start at 1NO → Start at

Happy 2025!I’m processing some OpenStreetMap PBF data and have found a duplicate attribute name, hard to believe but I think an artifact of OSM’s XML ancestry, two attributes differ only in string case, like my_attribute and My_Attibute.  My processing changes all attributes to lowercase so I have two fields my_attribute.  I tried a ListDuplicateRemover on the Schema output of a SchemaScanner but I get an invalid schema definition.  Does anyone with knowledge of FME internals have a tip for dropping one of the duplicate attributes?  Thanks.

I am reviewing some of the Transformers I either rarely use or have never used and came across the Feature Holder. Can someone provide me an example or two of why/when it would be a good idea to use the Feature Holder Transformer?

Hi All,I would require your help dealing with empty values in a columnI have a file with "n" features. In one of the column (Example: Column A) certain values are null/empty. I would like to replace it with non-empty value. Also, Column A has only 2 distinct values - either null or date.Example:Feature     Column A1            Jan 20252            Jan 20253            Jan 20254            null5            null6            null7            Jan 20258            Jan 2025I would like to change Feature 4,5,6 to "Jan 2025" instead of null.In Java world, I would store them in local variable and run column A in loop and replace with value if null.Not sure how to perform similar scenario in FME. Hi all.I'm having a hard time figuring out why lists with one entry, especially if it's read from XML, is mishandled in FME.A list may have any number of entries, and if reading such from XML, they often have any number including zero entries.When flattening the output, cycling thru the list, one normally uses ListExploder. However, if the list in question has one entry, it's auto-exploded, which makes ListExploder reject it. So I have to check the rejected features to see, if the list had been auto-exploded or if it had no entries at all. E.g. two or more transformers instead of just one.Why?Wouldn't it be more logical to _always_ create a list, if there are 1 or more entries ?It works as such in 2021.0Is this behaviour specific to XML (or JSON?) flattening ?Cheers.

Dear community,I want to automatically write all metadata for my geodatabase using FME. So I managed to set this up using XMLUpdater. But I only manage to do this for feature classes. I would also like to write metadata for the feature dataset, and even on the highest level, the geodatabase itself. How can I access the XML for these higher levels of gdb structure?The XML that I find with FME for a feature class only contains metadata for that particular class and not for the higher levels.Thanks in advanceNathan

Hi, We are deploying FME Desktop 2022.2 in our server (it’s a virtual machine).  The security team had done a security scan and expected us to upgrade the FlexNet Publisher to version 11.19.6.0 or later. However, the FlexNet installer downloaded from this link (https://fme.safe.com/downloads/) is Build 11.19.2. And it looks like bonding with FME Desktop so that we cannot upgrade FlexNet Publisher individually. How can I upgrade the version of FlexNet to version 11.19.6.0 or later? Room output from an Architectural Revit model are solids. I need room polygons and I’m not finding a transformer that will do this.  Each floor of the model has a floor elevation value which would be perfect for slicing the room objects.FME version 2024.1
