Search for partial match of names in two different datasets

Hello,I would like to use FME to search for partial name matches (essentially a fuzzy string comparison) between two columns in different datasets.The challenge I'm facing is that it’s not a straightforward ID-based comparison. I want to pick a name from a row in one dataset and search for the closest match in a column of names in another dataset.Does anyone know a way to achieve this in FME, perhaps without relying on IDs?Thank you!

Sharepoint Online Connector - running from Flow does not read the current data?

Hi there, I have a workbench published to FME Flow. In the workbench I have a SharepointOnlineConnector which reads in an Excel Sharepoint spreadsheet, and downloads it to my shared data source in Flow server. The workbench runs successfully and the output (a table in ArcGIS Online) says it has updated, however the values are all old data. When I run the workbench manually from Form, the SharepointOnlineConnector reads the current data in the Excel. Any pointers on how to get Flow to read the current Excel Sharepoint?

FME 2024.1 SharePoint Reader

I have a workspace created in 2023.2 that reads an Excel workbook from a SharePoint library. It is working perfectly.I have upgraded to 2024.1 and the reader no longer works as expected. If I use the 2024 Data Inspector I can connect to the workbook and see the data. The FeatureReader obtains the schema and the number of records in each sheet and gives a “Translation was SUCCESSFUL” in the log. The issue happens after that - I get some sort of (possibly) Python related error. Log file of messages after the successful log entry is attached.I have tried changing the Python version but it didn’t make any difference. Has anyone had the same issue or any ideas what I could try to get it working again.

Module 'realdwg/REALDWG' is unavailable for use with this FME edition (FME Flow 2024.2)

After upgrading FME Flow to 2024.2 some of our workspaces fail with the following error:WARN |Library 'F:\FMEFlow\Server\fme\plugins/realdwg/REALDWG.dll' was found but could not be loaded. Dyanmic ESRI File Geodatabase Writer: Drop and Create not working

I am writing to a file gdb, I will need to run my workbench to update this file gdb each month. The schema of my incoming tables may change so I have used a schema scanner with a dynamic writer.I want to use drop and create for table handling but it is not behaving as expected. Instead of dropping the existing feature class it just appends the entries to the existing table.I am not sure why this is happening. Of note, my feature classes are also within feature datasets. See attached screenshot of writer settings.

I'm unable to see/select GoogleBigQuery as Reader in FME

I’m new to FME tool and I wanted to pull data from Google BigQuery tables and convert into GeoDatabase and shapefile. I'm using FME Workbench version 2024.1.1 and I'm experiencing an issue with using Google BigQuery as a reader. But I’ve installed Google BigQuery as a transformer and attempted to pull data, but no data is being retrieved. I’ve also authenticated using a service account key file, but the data still isn’t showing up.

Easy upload of named connections from Desktop to ServerArchived

Named connections (database and web) get uploaded to FME Server along with the workspace but I have a lot of named connections that I've defined on Desktop that are not actively used in a workspace (ie. different versions of connections for DEV, TEST, QA, PROD) and there's no easy way to get them all up onto FME Server.I would like a mechanism to allow me to sync named connections between Desktop and Server without needing to publish a workspace.

Download Database Connection Settings from ServerIn Development

When publishing a workspace to Server, you have the option of pushing up your database connections. My idea is to be able to download these to be added to your Workbench database connections. This could be helpful to editors who do not have the connections settings, and would also help rebuild your desktop environment (i.e. if you have a new computer or your system crashes.)I suppose this could be a security issue, but my assumption is that if I gave you sufficient privileges to download/publish then you should also be granted access to the db connections. It may also help that the password characters are not displayed on the connection properties dialogs. I also assume these are not stored in plain text.

Sharing/Using FME Web/Database Connections from FME ServerArchived

It would be nice to have the ability to utilize connections that are on FME Server within your FME Desktop workflows. This would be nice as it makes managing connections for FME Server Admins/Publishers easier. It also feeds into the mentality of create once, allow users access. It also would provide security by allowing users to utilize it in their workflows without having to provide credentials to access it.Currently if someone creates a named connection in their workspace (that is different from the one up on Server, even with the same user) and uploads it, it will still need to be authorized (ie. ArcGIS Online User).

ArcGIS Online Feature Service Writer: Error 405

Hi there, I keep getting this error message: ArcGIS Online Feature Service Writer: Encountered an unexpected error. The error code from the server was '405' and the message was: 'This SqlTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable.'. Details: 'Unable to apply edits. Please check your parameters.' Any ideas? It’s attempting a truncate. I have purged temporary files and tried to replace all the connections and make a copy of the workbench but still no dice. Thanks,Joe

Reading/Executing Microsoft Access Queries

Hello! I'm working with one of our legacy systems built in Microsoft Access, and I need to extract data from a query. So far, the only method I’ve found involves using the system caller and command prompt. Are there any alternative ways to achieve this?I've tried using the system caller, but I’m encountering security issues with the runtime version. It appears that I need to set the location as trusted, but I can't do that with the runtime alone. We're aiming to avoid installing the full version of Access, so we're limited to using just the runtime.

Drone image footprint calculation

Hi, We would like to be able to calculate the real world footprint of drone images to result as a trapezoid polygon. This should be possible with only the exifdata that we get from the custom transformer "exifReader" as far as I can tell. I found a python version here, but it requires additional installation of vector3d from the python script. Anyone got a solution to calculate drone image footprints?https://gist.github.com/luipir/dc33864b53cf6634f9cdd2bce712d3d9 The custom transformer FootprintCreator promises something similar but requires a CSV-file from the camera. Anyone got a suggestion/solution? It would be a neat transformer that I think a lot of people would benefit from. We have a couple of different DJI drones.

Warning reading Snowflake Spatial Data

When using a FeatureReader transformer to read Snowflake spatial data, the following warning is posted into the log.Snowflake Spatial Reader: Skipping data in column '.GEOG' due to error (JDBC Type = VARCHAR, Vendor Type Name = GEOGRAPHY, Error: class java.lang.String cannot be cast to class [B (java.lang.String and [B are in module java.base of loader 'bootstrap'))The process does complete normally, but the geometry is not read automatically. Has anyone else encountered a problem like this? I’m using FME Form 2024.0.1.0, Build 24202.

replace substrings based on a lookup table

I am trying to find a functionality within FME that allows me to replace substrings based on a lookup table. Since I have several hundred mappings, chaining string replacers together isn’t really an option.Basically something like an AttributeValueMapper that looks at substrings instead of the whole value only or a string replacer that accepts multiple string/replacement inputs.Is there such a transformer or any workaround to do this?Thank you!

Different NetCDF raster with FME than with QGIS or ArcGIS-Pro
