12 Days of FME Contest is Live: The Treasure Hunt Begins!

I’m having trouble opening the first FME puzzle dataset, it says it cannot recognize the file header.  I’m on FME 2023. Do we need any specific FME versions for this?

Anyone else having issues with puzzle 1. I have the code decoded but the key word is not being accepted?? Any special tricks?

Hi ​@vancitygis yes, unfortunately the FFS files were made using FME 2024.0 so you would need to upgrade. I have converted that specific file to GeoJSON so you should be able to use this in any version of FME (attached) hopefully that helps!!

Thank you but as the puzzle 1 of line 2 is also using a FFS file so it’ll be difficult. As I’l in a big company I don’t have the leisure to upgrade myself. This is the end of this Treasure Hunt for me :(

And as Safe has drastically changed it’s licence program for hobbyist since 2023 I can’t even use a FME at home for this. It’s a pity.

When I place my guess it says Guess Submitted (coords) and Guess Count Updated but it doesn’t submit the guess and my count is still the same, when I check User Dashboard it says Guesses Made: 0 and it’s the same if i guess random.

I am so stuck on the codes puzzle 3 finding the custom transformer name 😂 any hints/tips?

I did mine in all lower case, unsure if it makes a difference!

​@earlw No special tricks necessary and it’s not case sensitive.

I managed to find the log of your submissions on FME Flow and the simple solution is that your answer is incorrect!

My apologies for the FFS version problem. I guess I had a brain fade and didn’t consider how it would cause problems for users with older FME versions. I’ll put some updated versions (maybe older FFS, maybe a different format) as soon as I can.

Hi all (particularly ​@vancitygis and ​@jedi121 ) - I’ve updated the puzzles that use FFS data with alternative options to use a 2023.0.0.3 version of the data. I think that’s about as old as I can go.

fyi - the main version is FME 2025.0, not 2024 as mentioned earlier.

Hi, i found one of the codes for extra guesses. WHen i used it it mentioned the extra guess, but i don't see it updated on my Guesses page (still says 12). Did i do something wrong?

Where did you paste the code to redeem it please?

Unsure if my guesses are counting or not. Guess count never updates, even with the codes for extra guesses it doesn’t update :(

Same here - I’ve made 4 guesses so far (and they show on my map), but the statistics below the map still say that I’ve used 0 guesses and have 12 remaining (and the extra guess you got for redeeming the code after the webinar doesn’t seem to have registered either).

For the instructions of Row 2 FME Puzzle 5, is this saying the centre of rotation is relative to the individual section or the overall image?

I checked, and your guesses are being included. So far you have made 11 guesses and have 3 remaining. 

Is the User Dashboard still giving an incorrect number of guesses? 

If you paste this URL into a browser, does it return the correct number?

Other users - you can test the URL by inserting your user ID instead of 5037 - it will be the last 4 or 5 digits on your profile page URL.

If it works, perhaps on the User Dashboard page you can open the developer tools and see if an error occurs? On Chrome I can press F12 to open that window. 

In fact, the job logs on FME Flow report no errors, so I think it must be a web problem somewhere.

You seem to have the same problem as ​@kateaew - your guesses have been correctly submitted, but the display isn’t updating with the correct information. I have no idea why.

No, I don’t see anything wrong. You have made 0 guesses so far, and have 14 remaining (so the codes obviously worked). It must be a problem with the User Dashboard page.

You could try the direct URL (as I mentioned to ​@jonas_nelson and ​@kateaew in previous messages. But I just thought maybe it’s the map and the stats workspaces getting tangled up in each other. If you visit this page:

Does that give you the correct statistics? Other people feel free to try this, too. It’s just the basic stats with no map. If that works I’ll permanently separate the two components into different pages.

I also updated the Guesses Remaining workspace. 

If it couldn’t find a result, it used to show 12 as the default because it assumed you hadn’t signed up yet. Now it posts a text message for a couple of different scenarios. 

It really shouldn’t be this, because I can see records for each of you in the “users” table, but we’ll see.

Aha! I think I spotted the problem. Can you try the page again, please? It should all work correctly now.

​@mark2atsafe Yes, it seems to work now. I see 14 guesses. Time to start redeeming those other codes I found!
