How to extract attribute to file name?

Hi! I am fairly new to FME. I am trying to develop a tool which creates a bounding box around features in the database. I've managed to create the bounding box as well as all my features into a .CSV file. What I want to do is make the writer use the coordinates found by the bounding box when saving the file name for each file. I have tried using @Value(<attr name>) however this just tells me my schema isn't set. I have also tried using a fan out feature on the writer, doing this allows me to save the file with the coordinates, however this then just leaves me with a blank file whereas I need a table with all the features and their added bits with it. Any help or advice on where to look would be appreciated!

Attributes with Parenthesis Not Read Correctly?

I have an attribute creator running to replace missing values with "NA" in a dataset. I noticed however that if the attribute had parenthesis (e.g. "Actual Values (oct-dec)") would replace every value with "NA" regardless of whether it was missing. Removing the "(oct-dec)" from the attribute name, however, returned the desired result. Can anyone else confirm this or had this experience?

Changing the header name of table based on cell location

Hi,I am looking to rename a cell in an excel spreadsheet reader using the cell's location (e.g. E1) rather than the default option in AttributeRenamer of choosing a header (e.g. RATECAT, SERVICEADDRESS, ect.). I currently receive the dataset with the headers, like what is shown in the image provided, with one of the headers being the date. Every month this header changes... Is there a way for me to rename the cell in location E1 rather than renaming based on the field "2015/10"? Thank you in advance!

LAS to Custom Text Format

i have an LAS file and want to export a custom text file with X Y Z R G B Classification. how would i do this the writer for txt only exports XYZ values and i can't seem to find a way to get this information out of my point cloud.

Will FME ever support complex appearances (when translating 3D formats)?

Lots of 3D formats support complex appearances (materials) that not only have a main texture, but also contain a bump map, alpha map etc. Until now, I have only been working with singular textures, but in the near future I might need to deal with complex appearances too. According to the documentation, an appearance can only reference 1 texture. However, in the FME Objects Python API, I did notice that the FMEAppearance class contains a getMapperReference(mapperType) method, which seems to be exactly the thing I need. Unfortunately, when I try it out with a PythonCaller, it tells me that it doesn't take arguments (so no mapperType) and if I call it without parameters it just crashes or stops the translation without a failure message. So I guess this hasn't been implemented yet... :( Are there any plans to support multiple texture maps soon? I guess it would also mean that all the 3D format readers need to be enhanced so that they actually translate this information correctly...

Finding lines within polygons

Hi. I have a geodatabase with lots of overlapping polygons and line features. Each polygon has two line features which lie totally within it but also parts of other lines. How can I select only the lines which are totally contained within each polygon? I've tried the LineOnAreaOverlayer but this chops up the lines into smaller segments based on the overlapping polygons which is not what I'm looking for.

Moving middle of text to a coordinate

I have a database with fields for x-coordinate, y-coordiane and a textstring. Now ik have to create a Microstation dgn-file with the middle of the text on the xy-coordinate.I'm using FME Desktop 2015.0 In the workbench I start with a VertexCreator. Then I use LabelPointReplacer to place the text at the coordinate, but the coordinate is at the bottomleft corner of the text. When I set igds_oiginal_justification to 7 (centre-centre for Microstation), the coordinate moves to the middle of the text. So the text is not on the correct coordinate.How can I move the middle of the text to the coordinate?

Custom python dll not working in FME

Hi all,I am trying to use the module matplotlib inside FME itself so I can create histograms and store them on my hard drive. I installed matplotlib in my standard Python 2.7 - 64 bit interpreter (the one that is used when you type 'python' in the command prompt) and I use this interpreter in pycharm (C:\\Python27\\python.exe) where everything works smoothly.Now I would like to use this interpreter inside FME but I cannot get it working. I checked the internet thoroughly and tried already a lot. I didn't try to install matplotlib in the FME python interpreter since I use different versions of FME.I tried using the following dlls:C:\\Windows\\system32\\python27.dll (but this is 32-bit so it shouldn't work I guess...)C:\\Windows\\SysWOW64\\python27.dll (but this generates an error)In order to try to fix the first error, I checked if the correct paths are added to the environment variables (C:\\Python27;C:\\Python27\\Lib) which is the case.I do not understand the second er

Decomposing attribute table.

Hello. I have shapefiles as the source of my data. I have no knowledge of what the attributes in the shapefile are going to be. What I need to do is to create an object (table row) , where for each object(row) I will have only one property and it's value (basically the oposite process of aggregator).for example - the original (incoming) data are:id1, property1_value, property2_value, property3_valueid2, property1_value, property2_value, property3_valueWhat I am trying to get: id1, property1_name, property1_valueid1, property2_name, property2_valueid1, property3_name, property3_valueid2, property1_name, property1_valueid2, property2_name, property2_valueid2, property3_name, property3_valueAny help would be really appreciated. Logic of Converting Vector data to Raster by NumericRasterizier?

Does anyone know what is the logic when I transfer the vector data to raster data through Numeric rasterizier? For example the original attribute value for the polygon inside one cell is 100 (accounts for 10%) and other polygon is 10(accounts for 90%). What is the value of new rasterizied cell?

multiple delimiter in AttributeSplitter

Good day FME'ers,I have a field containing string values which I would like to split on multiple characters. Each string contains one of more of "and", "&" and "," e.g. WORKSHOP AND PREMISES or SHOP, OFFICE AND PREMISES. Is there a way to specify multiple characters in the delimiter or string row? The option for conditional values would be ideal here.Thanks

How to use PythonEmailer with office 365

I am trying to send an email using the PythonEmailer.This works fine if I use the smtp.gmail.com server.But I can not get it to work with the smtp.office365.com server TLS and port 587).Has anybody got that working.Any help is appreciated.This is the error message I am getting:Python Exception <SMTPException>: SMTP AUTH extension not supported by server.Error encountered while calling function `email'f_8(PythonFactory): PythonFactory failed to process feature

Hi, I am reading 2 ASCI files convert these to rasters and clip each to a polygon feature class, then generate points using RasterCellCoercer so that I end up with a point feature class with DTM and DSM height values for each point. This process is taking far too long. See attached workbench.Any suggestion how the performance can be improved?

Dissolver Transformer not removing many Interior Lines

Hi,I'm using the Dissolver Transformer in FME Desktop 2014. I inputted a shapefile containing 34,000 polygons, expecting that I would see around 15,000 Interior Lines removed, however, only 23 were removed. Although I've specified that I need the Dissolver to group the inputs, there are plenty of adjacent polygons within each group that I would have expected the Dissolver to merge. I tried applying Coordinate Rounding to my input layer, but this didn't make any difference to the Dissolver output. The Dissolver Transformer had originally looked as though it was working with my input layer, as I've run it twice already to reduce the number of polygons from 115,000 to 75,000, then from 75,000 to 34,000. However, the third iteration seems not to have worked. I'd appreciate any advice on what it might be that I'm doing wrong, and how I can try to fix it? In 2016 How can I rename individual elements of a list?

I often use the AttributeSplitter or other transformers to parse data and rename the resulting list elements as regular attributes. In FME 2015, an AttributeRenamer could point to a specific list element (ie _list{1}) to rename it, this is no longer the case in FME2016.  Example _list{0}: 45 _list{1}: 30 _list{2}: 31  would be renamed to Degrees: 45 Minutes: 30 Seconds: 31

Dates stored as strings, need to find and convert to date format.

Hi all,I've been given a bunch of GDBs where in a few cases the date field is held as a string. I need to loop over the columns and look over the columns to see if they contain the word DT or DATE and if so, format that date into an Oracle Readable date, also automatically updating the writer to match the date type.Does anyone have any ideas how i can do this. So far i've got the regex. .*[D][A][T][E].* .*[D][T].* and am thinking of using some sort of tester to test whether the column contains this in its name. If so i need to pass it to a DateFormatter merge back in with the rest of the dataset and pass to a writer which has automatically been configured to detect the change in datatype. This needs to be reasonably generic and work when looped over multiple GDBs, I'm running FME desktop 2014Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

buffering road center line issues.

I am working on a project where I am trying to take a road center-line file and create the actual road size with it. So what i am doing is taking the center-line and buffering it to account for curb to curb size of the road. The plan is to buffer different amounts based on number of lanes and type of road. example, a four lane freeway is much larger than a standard city street. So i buffer it larger. Right now I am running the roads file through a re-projector to get center-lines in state plane of location I need in US ft. That way the geographic buffer set to ft can buffer it correctly. centerline.shp file to re-projector to attribute filter (based on # of lanes and road type) to geographic bufferafter the buffer it looks like circle with tons of squares slightly rotated. Before the buffer it looks like a road way. How do I make it look like a buffered roadway with slightly larger poly-lines or polygons for the streets instead of a circle with squares that looks nothing lik

Set up competing labels using MapTextLabeller

Hi,I'm evaluating MapTextLabeller in FME 2016 Desktop and have encountered an issue. The context is municipal land parcel mapping.So far, I have labeled parcels of land using MapTextLabeller (currently in FME Generic target format). Now I want to label blocks, which are groups of parcels of land. I need the labels generated for the parcels of land to be competitors to the labels generated for the blocks. In other words, the parcel labels should be generated first, and then the block labels should be placed around them.I am currently taking the labels generated for the parcels and feeding them into a second MapTextLabeller transformer for the blocks and setting the parcel labels as obstacles. However, the block labels still often overlap the parcel labels.Any help would be much appreciated.Thanks,Tom

AddCodedValueToDomain - Possible with FME?

I've been asked to see if its possible to maintain values in a coded domain on an ESRI Geodatabase. I would need to insert, update, and delete code/description combination records in the domain. I've found this article: https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/886/working-wi...but it's referring to updating a table that uses a domain, not the actual domain.I know FME can call a python script like this from within FME...arcpy.AddCodedValueToDomain_management(in_workspace="H:/MyDocs/geodbs/inspections/Inspections.gdb",domain_name="Structure_No",code="ABC-123",code_description="STRUCTURE 123")But can FME do it directly?Thanks, Sarah
