I am going to use FME to run finalisation on ortophoto projects. Two of the three products require TIFF to be part of final delivery. One require simple uncompressed, non-tiled files. Easy. And fast enough too.

The issue I am facing is that one product require both tiling (this can be set in the GeoTIFF-writer) AND views (aka. internal image pyramid). I had a look at the RasterPyramider-transformer, but external raster pyramid tiles is not at all what I am looking for.

I see in the Knowledge Center that internal image pyramiding was planned by Safe back in 2012, so I suspect I am missing something here. Does anyone have experience in similar issues, and able to give me a hand? If Safe haven't finished their internal pyramiding initiative yet, does anyone have an alternative I can have a go at?

Adding overviews to FME's GeoTIFF output is currently scheduled to be complete for FME 2016.1. However, in the meantime you can add overviews to tiled GeoTIFFs using Intergraph's free ImageStation Raster Utilities, which can be downloaded from http://download.hexagongeospatial.com/downloads/xp...

The Overview Utility will create overviews in GeoTIFF files. These utilities are fairly old, but still useful.

That is the current solution I'm at, thank you. Excited to learn that this is coming in 2016 - will be a welcome improvement (and simplification) to the production line. Thank you again Dave

@DaveAtSafe did this update make it into 2016.1 ?

Thanks

Hello again Dave. I have to bump this post, as I cannot see that this issue was resolved in 2016.1 as promised?
