Today I noticed something about reading the same geodatabase feature class twice, using multiple feature types within the same reader. FME doesn't do this.I had one single merged feature type set up, to process all data within the geodatabase. This was the only reader in the workspace. At some point I needed one specific feature class from the geodatabase for a specific function, so I used the "Import feature type" function to do it. From there on, that feature class would no longer be output through the single merged reader, but only through the separate one. Suddenly my workspace was no longer outputting all data from my geodatabase, since the separate feature class was discarded halfway through the workspace. However, there was nothing that indicated that this was going on - looking at the properties of my single merged feature type, it still claimed to read all feature classes. When I try and run the install msi file to upgrade my existing FME Server to 2016.1, I get this error:'the system cannot open the device or file specified' I have downloaded the install file again but get the same error. I am trying to install on a Windows Server 2008 machine.Any Ideas?

Hi,There seems to be a bug in the FMEServerEmailGenerator transformer. I had some issues in FME 2015 and hoped it would be fixed in the newer realeses in 2016.However when I recently updated to the present realese (2016 b16492) the problem still remains.When attatching a file, or several, the JSON messege that builds from the transforemer add the attatchmet twice in the text_line_data output. Therefore the Email won't be sent to the receiver.I have used a workaround with StringReplacers to get rid off one of the attatchments and made it work like it should. The problem is that I have to customize it every time I want to use a different massage or attribute to post. So it would be great to have this bug fixed in a new patch in the future. So as the title says I have an ID field that goes from 1 to 6 and it repeats for the next set of Attributes, I wanted to use this to create an Aggregate field. to bring each set of attributes under their correct fields.

Dear FME community,I have a comma separeted file (CSV) which contains coordinates of polygons. They are in the form:4606782.08077,5649438.11392,4607573.11623,5649937.715264607494.19448,5649114.04178,4608310.37980,5649629.527244625760.04745,5648557.21385,4626429.36498,5648979.94071 They are in the German coordinate system EPSG:31468 and should be transformed to EPSG:25833. How can I easliy reproject these values and write them out as a new CSV file? Do I have to build polygons first, transform them and then extract the geometry again, or is there a more easy way to do it?Kind regardsThomas

Hello all,This question has been asked before, but despite an example found here i still can't manage to get the description-attribute from the following kml-file: . Somehow FME sees the values for the kml_description (and kml_description_raw_text and kml_description_text) attribute as missing. I know for sure there is a description as i see it when opening the kml-file in Notepad++. What i do see, when sending the data to an inspector is three attributes:- kml_description_b (with Value Onderwerp:)- kml_description_b{1} (with Value Status:)- kml_description_b{2} (with Value Nummer:)So the field name has become a value and the original value is lost.I hope someone can help me with this. I've also been trying this with the Esri ArcGIS tool 'KML to layer'. Hi, I have some large 1 bit single band tiffs and I want trim the empty white space from each edge of the image.Maybe 25 pixels from the 1st black pixel found on each border if possible.I think I need to determine the 1st black pixel from the border on each side then use this info to create a polygon to clip the image.I just have no idea how to work out the area I want to clip within the workbench, not much of a raster expert.

Hi,I'm new to FME and this should be an easy thing to do. I'm trying to work out the distance of buildings and waterbodies from a structure foundation using the neighbour finder and exporting to Excel. I've been able to work out the distances but I end up with the building distance and waterbody distance on 2 separate rows with 2 identical foundation references as shown below.I want to be able to combine the 2 distances (Building and Waterbody) onto single line with a single foundation reference like below. How can this be done?

Hi all,I'm trying to translate an Access select query to a FME script. I have two Excel files in Access: one that contains data (LINC_RawData) and a comparison file (Linc_Recoding_Scheme)Below select Access query shows records that have a value in the "Category" field and that do not have a value in the "UID" filed.How can I translate this to FME? Basically, all data should flow through to a writer except when it matches above query, I'd like it to appear in a separate output (or list / filter)Thanks,Ed

Writing spatial index on File geodatabase with a specific grid size

I have a script with one database (PostGIS, Oracle or SQL Server) reader and with a PythonCaller which depends on the order of the features. I run my script with FME 2016 and noticed that the order of features is different.So i wonder if something change deliberately or the order depend on something that FME can't control ? I didn't see a related subject in the changelog of the 2016 release.

I am looking to tilise aerial imagery tiles into circa 10 zoom levels to go into a map server. The porcess I have at the moment, outside of FME, is struggling. It is GDAL2tiles using python but it is not multi threading and only using one core. Therefore running for 8 days and only producing one level of zoom from 10. I suspect FME can do it but I am not sure how.

I have been asked by a colleague whether FME is able to read or write to Cadcorp's BDS (Base Dataset) or FDB (Feature Database) file formats.  Initially I thought this would probably be possible as FME can read/write to a large number of formats but upon checking further it doesn't look like this is possible.  There doesn't even appear to be any mention of these formats within the Knowledge Base or Community Answers sections of the websites.  Can anybody shed any light on whether FME can read/write to Cadcorp?  Many thanks

Hellow fellow FME-users,  I'm trying to run FMEFactoryPipeline repeatedly within a PythonCaller.  After some iterations it stops running unexpectedly and FME is only providing me the unhelpful error message: "Error running translation". I think the order of the function I'm calling on the pipeline factory is wrong.This is the order I'm using right now:# initialize pipelinepipeline = fmeobjects.FMEFactoryPipeline()# Add pipeline factory (spatialrelator in my case)pipeline.addFactory()# Push features through the pipelinepipeline.processFeature()# Execute the pipelinepipeline.allDone()Or I'm forgetting to call a certain function on the pipeline object. Hi There,I have quite a simple request, but as an amateur in FME, I just can't seem to figure this out.I have a network of line features overlapping a few sparse polygon features here and there.What I want for an output is a shape all the polygons, each having a count attribute of how many different line segments overlap each individual polygon. I've tried clippers and spatial filters and just about everything else I can think of, but with no success.Thanks in advance for any help,

So we have an issue where the ID is being used also as the Object ID. This of course is a big problem because any database or GIS software will overwrite the ID. So to get around this I want to create an attribute in FME and then fill that with the Object ID values to preserve that number. I can create new attributes with the attribute creator but I can't find any examples or forum topics on how to call out an attribute value to fill it with. I've only seen constants or using this empty column later.

Hello,i have a shapefile containing lines (and data), some of them are viewed as IFMEMultiCurves containing several FMElines. When i get these into autocad, they are inserted as blocks with data. This is not ideal for me, but i could work with this. When i want to convert these back into shape file I not able to recreate the original shapefile. (I Get all of the individual FMElines, so far more objects than the initial shapefile).Is there a way, to keep these Multicurves together when converting back to shapefile?

I am extremely new to FME. In my data-set, I have a column that displays number of seconds . I need this to be in a time format.Example: column data displays 181, I need this to read 0:03:01.Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,  We are currently evaluating FME Desktop in the hopes that we replace MapTiler with FME and write tiles in the same folder and naming structure that is used by MapTiler.  We are attempting to use the WebMapTiler transformer and the raster PNG writer to write a folder and file structure that is compatible with TMS which is used by our tile server. The folder structure needs to be in the format of ../ZoomLevel/X/Y with Y being the actual file name. I've been able to use the dataset fanout to get the files into folders that match the zoom level but can't figure out how to get a second fanout to the X folder. Also, it looks like the file names may not be setup the way we need.  Has anyone done this before?  Thanks, Mark

I am new to FME Server. Hope I can get some help from here. I want to get a list of completed jobs with status and username from our FME Server. I can get jobs with status via a http call - /fmerest/v2/transformations/jobs/completed. But I didn't see the username info exposed through this rest endpoint. I know the postgresql fme_job_history table stores the username info. How can I retrieve it through a http call?Thanks all for your help.

I'm looking to work with some information in Google's Protocol Buffer format, but it appears that FME doesn't naively support it. Short of creating some python/java (and external libraries) to read and convert it to JSON, but I wanted to see if anyone had any experience working with it and FME. I did a quick look around and found this blog post from a few years back describing how they use(d) it for sending messages back and forth in FME Server, but I can't seem to find anything else about it online.Anyone have any experience working with Protocol buffers and/or FME and would have tips on how to best proceed?

Dear FME community,this is probably an easy one but how can I access the total number of coordinates of a line feature? It is displayed in the Inspector, but how can I get the information?I want to extract the coordinate which is in the center of a poly line for further processing.Kind regardsThomas
