I'm trying to duplicate the Asteryx's Unique Tool (http://help.alteryx.com/9.5/index.htm#cshid=Unique... in FME. Using the DuplicateRemover doesn't give me the results that I want.  This is what I need. I have a field that needs to be unique (FiledB) and it's associated with another field (FieldA). A1A 2A3A4B1B3B4B5C5C6What I should be getting for result is: A1, B5 and C6.   The result that I get with the RemoveDuplicate by selecting only the FieldB as the unique, or both fileds, doesn't give me this.Any suggestions?

Hi,I can't find fanout in FME 2015.I have to create different shpfiles based on a attribute and write them to a zip file with the name of that attribute.

I'm using FME Desktop 2014 sp2. I want to reproject the X,Y coordinates of a point feature type (mapinfo, in NAD83) into the appropriate NAD83 MTM projection. I have an attribute named "ZONE_MTM" (string) that gives me the MTM zone a need to reproject in. However, when I use the "AttributeReprojector" transformer and, inside it, use a conditional value, I systematically get an "invalid test expression"! I have tried forcing a "string" or a "number" comparison (instead of the "automatic" comparison). I have also tried using "begins with" but I still get the error. Hi everyone, I use the PythonCaller Transformer to validate data and want to write the errors to the log file. I already read the Article Logging with Python scripts and tried the example, but its not working. logger = fmeobjects.FMELogFile()logger.logMessageString("...")doesn't do anything ... I also tried def processFeature(feature):    logger = open(FME_LogFileName,'a') logger.write("test" +  "\n")but its quite the same. Does someone know how to log via pythoncaller in FME Desktop 2015?thanks,Mel

Would be grateful for some advice on this. FME is refusing to load any data from this WFS service. I can see the set of layers (get capabilities) from the service when I try to add the reader but when I select the data layer I need and hit ok the log is giving me the error below.This WFS service loads vectors just fine into Qgis but not FME. Good Day FME'ers,I have recently upgraded to FME 2016 and I have been testing all our production workspaces to make sure they run correctly. Some of our workspace write data out to CartoDB and they have all no started producing errors. I'm not sure if it's a bug in FME or an issue with CartoDB. I could delete and recreate the tables in CartoDB but I would lose the styling.Any thoughts?Thanks,David McDermott

Hi all,I created a little test in order to compare the performance of python and FME.  For this test I created a CSV-file containing information of 1 000 000 people (ID, SEX). The goal was to count the number of men and women in this list. I created a very basic Workspace with a reader, StatisticsCalculator and Logger in order to answer this question. The Workbench completes in 45 seconds.When I do the same using only pythoncode, the result is print in 2 seconds.Why is there such a big time difference between those two?I know that the startup time of FME has to be taken into account (less than 3 seconds) and the reader converts the input to the FFS-format which will take some time. But I am sure that when I would change the pythoncode so that the features are written to an SQLite database, it wouldn't take 45 seconds to complete.Can someone clarify this for me?Thanks!  (the CSV contains only 500 000 in stead of 1 000 000 features since the file was too big)

I have to transform various datasets in gml-files which have to have a certain structure (>xsd-schema-file). The gml-files get imported into a subsequent application which checks the structure and throws an error if something is missing.In my original data though, not all the featureclasses exist in all the datasets, and in the gml-files that are written, those featureclasses are not contained and I get errors afterwards.I would like FME to write all the featureclasses to the gml that are defined in the schemafile, so that if there is no data for a featureclass, the tags for this featureclass are written into the gml-File, but without data between them.There's a parameter for the GML-writer "Write all featureclasses", but the tags are still not written for missing featureclasses.(In the docs it says concerning this parameter: Every GML writer DEF line is translated to the output GML application schema document as an XML Schema element declaration and a corresponding

Since I upgrade to FME 2016, I have the following error when trying to use a PythonCaller in a workspace that is in a folder with accent such : /Testé/ Error adding `H:\\FME\\Decoupage_Secteur\\Testé\\' to the python pathPython failed to initializeIf I remove the accent in the folder name, the workspace run without error.FME should try to write the path like this: H:/FME/Decoupage_Secteur/Testé/ to avoid errorIs it normal or a bug? In previous version of FME there was no such error.

Im frequently receiving this warning that forces me to delete postgres or postgis readers and add the readers again. There are cases that forces me to always keep the workspace open otherwise i will need to re-ad readers and set again exposed params. Anyone else noticing similar thing with PG readers ? Hi!We are using FME Server 2015.1.1 and are now facing a problem with the keywords {workspace} and {repository}, in our case these both keywords are missing in our Job submitter success email. Other keywords like {jobsuccess_topic}, {timeStarted} or {timeFinished} are working fine...any ideas?Thomas

Hi Guys,another question for an issue i never did in FME.... with which transformer i can do such operations before writing excel ? (screenshot substract) 

We have to run various workbenches (and other scripts) automatically and repeatedly with different timeperiods in between, so I wrote some python scripts to run them. In those scripts I check the returncode of FME and if it's <> 0 (Translation was successful) then my scripts throw an error.But obviously FME sometimes returns 0 (Translation was successful), even though there is an ERROR in the Logfile and the translation was NOT successful.How come? I would really appreciate all your suggestions/answers.Background:Currently, I'm trying to modify an existing workbench. This workbench grabs data from an Oracle database. The data goes through a series of transformers: Joiner -> AttributeClassifier -> 2DPointAdder -> ListExploder -> FeatureMerger (where another Oracle table is merged) -> ListExploder_2 -> FeatureMerger_2 (where a new CVS file, with 277K rows, is merged) -> ListExploder_3 -> AttributeFilter -> MapInfo TAB file.Current Situation:The above seems to be running okay for a small subset of data (1000 rows from Oracle).There is another CSV file (60+ rows of lookup data) that I would need to merge into the existing workbench. (Creating another table in the Oracle database might be a better solution for this lookup table. But

Referencing these articles:Harvesting and Writing ISO 19115 XML MetadataFME and MetadataI am attempting to do the following: Generate the Data Dictionaries for the spatial features, the feature attribute domains, stand-alone object tables, with an auto-generated Table of Contents for same etc. for my PRODUCTION SDE dataspace---as HTML. in FME Desktop as a workbench.I can do this using the -XRay Tool extension for ArcCatalog; However, when I want to add some html code to some of the table features (tooltips with links), there is no facility for it.I was hoping to accomplish this in FME Desktop.

Why does TextPropertyExtractor expose no Attributes?

Hi! I am fairly new to FME. I am trying to develop a tool which creates a bounding box around features in the database. I've managed to create the bounding box as well as all my features into a .CSV file. What I want to do is make the writer use the coordinates found by the bounding box when saving the file name for each file. I have tried using @Value(<attr name>) however this just tells me my schema isn't set. I have also tried using a fan out feature on the writer, doing this allows me to save the file with the coordinates, however this then just leaves me with a blank file whereas I need a table with all the features and their added bits with it. Any help or advice on where to look would be appreciated!

I have an attribute creator running to replace missing values with "NA" in a dataset. I noticed however that if the attribute had parenthesis (e.g. "Actual Values (oct-dec)") would replace every value with "NA" regardless of whether it was missing. Removing the "(oct-dec)" from the attribute name, however, returned the desired result. Can anyone else confirm this or had this experience?

Hi,I am looking to rename a cell in an excel spreadsheet reader using the cell's location (e.g. E1) rather than the default option in AttributeRenamer of choosing a header (e.g. RATECAT, SERVICEADDRESS, ect.). I currently receive the dataset with the headers, like what is shown in the image provided, with one of the headers being the date. Every month this header changes... Is there a way for me to rename the cell in location E1 rather than renaming based on the field "2015/10"? Thank you in advance!

i have an LAS file and want to export a custom text file with X Y Z R G B Classification. how would i do this the writer for txt only exports XYZ values and i can't seem to find a way to get this information out of my point cloud.

I have a workspace with several SQLCreators. How can I control the order in which they trigger?

Lots of 3D formats support complex appearances (materials) that not only have a main texture, but also contain a bump map, alpha map etc. Until now, I have only been working with singular textures, but in the near future I might need to deal with complex appearances too. According to the documentation, an appearance can only reference 1 texture. However, in the FME Objects Python API, I did notice that the FMEAppearance class contains a getMapperReference(mapperType) method, which seems to be exactly the thing I need. Unfortunately, when I try it out with a PythonCaller, it tells me that it doesn't take arguments (so no mapperType) and if I call it without parameters it just crashes or stops the translation without a failure message. So I guess this hasn't been implemented yet... :( Are there any plans to support multiple texture maps soon? I guess it would also mean that all the 3D format readers need to be enhanced so that they actually translate this information correctly...
