Conversion of a shape to kml file.The issue is to sort by month and not by alphabetic or numeric way

attribute value of a field in a specific order of my attribute I have an issue as I would like to sort my output kml file in a hierarchical way. I have for the moment sort by country (alphabetic, 1order), by year(numeric,2 order) and I would like to sort now by month but not in an alphabetical way, but from jan, feb, mar...... That means in a monthly order. I have got the value in a field of my shapefile, but I do not know how to display it correctly by month.  Does anybody know the way to do it ?  Thanks in advance! Arnaud

shp 2D to create with many folders in source (static is possible?)

My problem is that I have many files to convert with differents attributs and a static shema seems to be not avalaible (lost of attributs). It's very important to me to solve this problem and i work to solve it but with no success.I think it's a hard case. To understand my problem here is the link of my whole MIF data to convert :  https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B90n7rx5ph0ZaXZXZ21RNUh1WkE/edit?usp=sharing   Now how to obtain : R120_1-1_SHP_LAMB93_FR-ED121 with all the SHP 2D in the same folder than source.( I know how to do that but only in dynamic shema)  thank you

LiDAR .las files

Hi  I have just received LiDAR data in .las format. I am using MapInfo but cannot directly open them in this program. I also have access to Engage 3D (but not Pro)  Can someone please help me with advice as to how I go about converting them in FME workbench into a usable format for MapInfo.  Essentially I would like to get contours, point data (x, y, z) as well as being able to create DEMs. Must warn you I don't use FME often - so please dumb down any advice.  Thanks in advance.  Keiryn McCartney GIS Technician - GTCC

MIF TO SHP in 2D

Hello,  I have converted mif to shp and someone quote that it's shape 3D. It's a pity to have z=0 for each point. I look the answers you still gave and try it but no satified results.  So now i want the answer please.  Why the setting i put are not effective?(2d forcer,2D in destination setting..) thanks

JOB ID with FME SERVER

Hi, I use into ws FMEServerLogFileRetriever transformer that need to pass it the value of job id. I passe @Value(_job_id) but don't work!. Is there an issue on FMEServer?  There is another idea to get job id value that i passe to my transfomer? thanks an advance.  Farfar

Decimal Second precision on timestamp to PostGIS

I have a table in PostGIS with a timestamp(4) (with time zone)  data type.    I am trying to insert a value of:  2013-07-06 14:24:50.200  What i get is the following:  2013-07-06 14:24:50+04  The +04 is obviously the timezone, which is fine, however i loose my precision on the seconds.   I have tried most everything and am stumped.  I am currently on still stuck in FME2011.  Thanks in advance for any insight!

Read only one file from a zip

I have a zip file that contains 2 excel files. The names of the files are dynamic (Name Current Date.xlsx), and there is one tab within each spreadsheet. For both spreadsheets, the tab has the same name. When I try to read the zip file, FME is pulling all the records from both spreadsheets, instead of just the first spreadsheet. Since the tabs are the same name, I can't see a place where I can specify which feature to read.  Does anyone have advice on how to only bring in one file from a zip file where the file names within the zip change every day?  Thanks!

LogFile in FME SERVER

Hi, I look for retrieving LogFileName and copy into my folder. example : When i launch a job, i get a log file in : serverjobsubmitter/FME_74061B13_1373896868934_15164.log. i'd like to move it into another folder like "C:/logs" for each traitment. Thanks an advance.  farfar

Problem opening reader for Intergraph GeoMedia Access Warehouse

Hi  We have a GeoMedia Access Warehouse with about 170 tables in it. When we try to add a reader to this warehouse, we got an error-message:  GeoMedia Reader: Reading from GeoMedia Access Warehouse version 5 or better Database error: '[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Too few parameters. FME Server 2012 sp4 upgrade to ArcGIS 10.1 - does not see ESRI libraries

We have upgraded out FME server 2012 sp4 to arcgis 10.1.  For some reason it seems not to be able to see the ESRI Libraries now.  We installed full ArcGIS 10.1.  What can we check to see why it is not finding the libraries ?

SQL Creator and CURSOR_SHARING in Oracle 11g

I am creating features with SQLCreator on Oracle 11g.   I have some complex joins and filters ... and a LOT of them to issue.  So many that Oracle CPU performance goes to hell.   I'm told because it can't do all that hard parsing, because there are no "bind variables"  I am using FME Server 2012.   There are 16 engines, each submit 2 queries per job to get the features it needs to process.  At any given time there are 32 queries executing at once and by the end of an hour 250+ jobs will have to run.   That is over 500 queries needing a hard parse.  With CURSOR_SHARING set to EXACT, the CPU thrashes itself to death.  How can I get SQLCreator to use bind variables?   Or should I use a reader and parameterize all the SQL for the Reader?   Do readers force bind variables?  Brad

Writer Spatialite Generic geometry

Guys,   I try to create a spatialite file with Dynamic porperties. The workbench works well but when I want to add this file in QGIS (connect a spatialite table database), I have the following error message :    "dbname='...sl3' table"..." (GEOMETRY) sql= is an invalide layer and cannot be loaded.   But, if I drag and drop the file in QGIS, it works correctly.     Does anyone kown why ? It's really annoying becose I'd like to keep the same Qgis project working with Postgis (same layout and layers, just the database changes).     It must be a problem with Generic geometry ou Specific geometry    Cheers

Mapinfo Text creation with specialized Font

Hello  I need to use a spezialized Font in order to create text characters which represent symbols with predefined symbolization.  All this because Mapinfo's Font-points are not scaled usefully while zooming, so I will try to use Text instead. I have a specially defined Font and I know the number of each character in the font-table.  My problem now is, that I need to create an attribute with a char-value which I cannot type in through the keyboard, as I only know the number of the font character.  How can I create an attribute with a one character-value whose font-char number (e.g. 45) is in the attribute "symbol_number" ?  I guess Tcl or Python may do the trick, but how ?  Thanks Michael

Direction Change

Hi,  I need to change the direction of linear element any diection into clockwise direction.I used orientor transformer,it change the direction of shape only line,linestrings directions are not chaged. any other option is there to change the directon of linestrings.

How to label Google Earth Polygons with kml

Hello, I am very new to programming and recently downloaded the trial version of this software because I saw this link:  http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/How_To/How-Do-I-Label-Google-Earth-Polygons#heading_toc_j_0  I have no idea how to use this program, and I have quite a short deadline so any help on this matter would be helpful. I have several hundred polygons on Google Earth and they must all be labeled, preferably with a placemark. Can this software do that?  Many thanks in advance.

SDE30: SHP -> SDE Feature Dataset

Hello,  I'm trying to load a SHP file into an existing SDE Feature Dataset (MS SQL).  Using SDE30; however I cant see where you can specify a Feature Dataset? It will happily write to the Root.  I have found similar issues reported: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/fmetalk/STzkdjCzJfo however I'm still stuck.  Any assistance would be greatly apprieciated.  FYI I'm not a big user of FME.  FME Desktop 2012 - MS SQL  Thanks

Oracle Non Spatial Reader to CSV Writer

I'm relatively new to FME, so any help here would be greatly appreciated. I can link to a SQL server to pull specific information from a table. However, I don't have write-access to the server, so I want to save the results of my SQL query in a CSV file. I've tried just doing a Reader of Oracle Non Spatial to a Writer of CSV. It reads the data fine, but nothing actually gets copied into the CSV File; it is just an empty file. I'm obviously missing something here. Can anyone help? Much obliged!

Mapinfo to CAD Translation using FME Workbench

Hi  I am fairly new to FME products. I have received a request to translate all OS Mastermap coverage for Bath area into CAD - normally straightforward - however the client is wanting it broken down firstly into 1 KM tiles and secondly into split CAD layers.  Could somebody tell me if there is a relatively easy way to this using the FME Workbench software, to be able to breakdown single files into multiple small geosquares and layers without too much difficulty?  Thanks  David Haycock Bath and North East Somerset

Issue on reading a CSV file into FME through a startup python script

  The python script is (python 2.7) :  import urllib mysock = urllib.urlopen("........") outcsv = mysock.read() oFile = open("c:\\temp\\example.csv",'wb') oFile.write(outcsv) oFile.close   The problem with this script is that when I run it I do not get the right rows count of the csv file.   To explain the script a bit better, with this startup python script I am calling a csv file in internet. Then I just want the script to save it in my C drive. After that a reader in FME will read to start another process.   For the moment I do it manually (copy and paste my link into a browser, recuperate the csv file and save it to the right place in my C drive) without using this script and I am getting the right numbers of entries.   I do not understand why I am getting different numbers of rows doing it manually and automatically? Does somebody have an idea?   Thanks for your help.

Hi,    I am using a writer to update some non-geometry columns and one geometry. But it is only updating non-geometry columns. I have explicitly set following parameters. Writer Mode: UPDATE Target Geometry Column Name: GEOM fme_where: id  Am i missing anything?  Subrat.
