I have a hiperlinked text in an Excel spreadsheet, and I want to load this spreadsheet into an Oracle table but the hiperlinks saved in the table, not the text in the Excel cell. Can I do this in FME? I am using FME 2013.
Is it possible to automatically name the output writer based on parts of the folder name the reader/TAB came from AND the name of the reader itself? For example, This is the folder where the reader/TAB came from: "KNKA208 CMA 028A Indianapolis" And the readers/TAB name is "Authorized CGSA" and I want the output to be named: "A-KNKA208-028-Indianapolis-Authorized CGSA" Thanks! Joseph
Hi, In a mapping file while importing data to smallworld we have exposed format attribute "fme_basefilename". Using this name only we have to set the current world. Know please let me know how to get handle on this exposed format attribute so that i can set the current world.
Hi, I am trying to combine 2077 Raster images into one big one. I chose TIFF as the output file format which threw this error. (SYSTEM: Desktop FME 2013 on Win7 4gb Ram) "TIFF writer: The resulting file is too big (approximately 207.87 GB). This format cannot support a file size over 4.00 GB. Consider tiling the raster to reduce the output file size" Nice error message, but what is my alternative? Should I use the BigTIFF format? Thanks, Rob
I was wondering what the intention of this Reader is. It seems to only read the data in from the underlying FeatureClass. A layer file contains a lot of important information used for the display of the data in ArcMap. This includes visible fields, field aliases, defintion queries and scale ranges (to name a few). I am wondering why the reader does not expose these properties of the layer file. We are using 2013 SP4.
Is there any FAST way to write TEXT-features to ArcSDE, either via the ArcSDE (SDE) or Geodatabase (GEODATABASE_SDE) writer. I see the tip is: Avoid annotations Avoid or minimize the number of annotation features, because writing to these is slow. It has been improved when writing annotations with no user-defined fields. However how to save text-features withouth this approach? Have looked through this already: http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/FAQ/Improving-Performance-when-working-with-Geodatabases The number of text-features to insert is around 2 000 000.
Hi, I'm using an ESRI Filegeodatabase writer with a dynamic feature type to copy feature classes from one file geodatabase to another (with some processing on the way). I'm finding that some of the longer feature class names are being truncated when they are written to the new geodatabase. Everything else is working fine, the geodataset names are ok. I've tried specifying an attribute with the feature class name too, but it still truncates the name. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks!
I am converting Oracle Point feature to Oracle Text feature for GeoMedia (6001). 1. I have Reader with fme_text_size, fme_text_string and oracle_orientation. 2. Next AttributeCreator Attribute Name Value geomedia_rotation oracle_orientation geomedia_type fm()_text geomedia_justification 1 3. LabelPointReplacer for Text Label 4. Writer I connect geomedia_rotation to fme_rotation, geomedia_type to fme_type, geomedia_justification to geomedia_justification. The output table's geometry has (3001,,(,,),(1,0,6000,4,1,1,7,1,0,,,, insteat of (3001,,(,,),(1,0,6001,4,1,1,7,1,0,,,, It should be 6001 for GeoMedia Text feature. Can someone please show the answer?
Is is possible to expose a jpeg attribute on a dynamic writer? I have a workbench that extracts the GPS coordinates from jpeg exif data (taken with a GPS camera) and plots the positions as a points feature class. I need certain attributes exposed, e.g. exif_gps_latittude. Can the set the dynamic writer to expose them? Also, liking the new forum!
How to convert/transform a ArcGIS 10.0 Geodatabase (*.adf) Esri ArcGIS Binary Grid to a SHAPE File including feature types? 1. I open an ArcGIS 10.0 Geodatabase (*.adf) Esri ArcGIS Binary Grid (AIG). 2. With Inspector I can analyse the Grids. It says: Raster Point Info: Cell Value (INT16): 653 Row and Column: 3028, 7828 Ground Location: 675689.057708 3. What I need is the Cell Value as a feature type for a Shape-File. Does anybody know how to do that? What I want is the SHAPE with POLYGON-Grids with the Cell Value (INT16): 653 as a feature type. Is that so difficult? Many thanks for any hint!!! Best wishes, Timo
Hello, Sorry about the long subject. I have an issue where SOME workbenches published to FME Server, the data is being written to the ...FMEServer\\Server\\repository directory instead of a file server (via UNC path). Sometimes when go to run the workbench via the fmejobsubmitter web page, the parameters only have the last folder name not the UNC prefix I.E. the path should be \\\\fileserver\\folder1\\folder name2\\folder3\\data.csv on the web page it is folder3\\data.csv. I enter the full path with the quotes and run the job. The data ends up in repository\\folder3. After the job has completed, I look at the log file and it has the correct and complete destination path. Any solutions other than upgrading to 2013? Cheers,
Hello I create a Tiff/GeoTiff in FME and then visualize it ArcMap. I build pyramids and use "bilinear resampling" in ArcMap and I get a quite bad display quality. If I read the same image into irfanview and save it (with nothing changed) and then use this Tiff in ArcMap the display quality is much better (smooth lines, better text readability,...). A colleague, which is quite an expert in raster, analysed both files and couldn't tell any difference except for the internal block size used. Is there any idea what is hitting me here ? What does FME bad with the raster so that ArcMap cannot display it with good quality ? This behaviour seems to be independent of the resolution. Thanks for any helpful idea Michael
Good morning. My name is Ramón Castro, from the University of Vigo and I am a new user of FME sowtware too. I am looking for the way to transform a .dxf to CityGML. I am not sure about what transformers I have to use. Anyone could help me?? thnak you very much
I'm reading a file which is delimited by a space using the csv reader, some of the fields are enclosed in quotes (although this doesn't appear to be related to what type of data they contain). If i read the file with the parameter strip quotes from fields set to no and then rewrite the file with quote output values set to no i get an error that a string value could not be converted to a float. Any ideas on how to read this file and write it out again in the same format?
Hi, is there a way to create use workbench to analyze and list the readers and writters from other work spaces? Thanks for the help. I hope all is well Merry Christmas to all
I made an affine transformation on my dwg file . in fme Data Inspector 2013 the transformed result is good .but When I opened the resulting dwg file in AutoCAD 2008, I found the text position remained unchanged , only others like point ,line ect is at the correct location. why ? Can any one help me ? thanks in advance.
Hello, I've connected my FMEserver with one active directory. I can connect to my FMEserver and I can navigate between the differents menus except the security menu where i have an error : javax.servlet.ServletException: javax.servlet.ServletException: COM.safe.fmeserver.api.FMEServerException: Could not read FME Server response message. I have an Oracle table with two geometry fields, POLYGON_GEOMETRY and CENTROID_GEOMETRY. I want to copy the table to a new Oracle Spatial database but I have to specify one or the other geometry column names in the reader. How can I copy both geometry fields to the new table? Thanks
Is there a simple way to add cross hatching to an output TIF file? Looking to see where it can be styled in advance of the Writer Output... something similar to a MapInfo Styler, etc, would be good but can't seem to find an equivalent. Thanks!
How would I execute a workbench from a Silverlight Viewer on the ArcGIS Server side? I want to have a button that pops up a form with a few user parameters. Then those parameters are passed to FME desktop or Server. (Either one). Then the server executes the process with the parameters. If someone could explain how to do that it would be awesome! Thank you so much!
All, I've got a sql view that joins SQL 2 tables together, one of which contains geometry for address points. I want to take that view and write it to an SDE feature class using FME. The problem is, when I choose SQL Server Spatial as the reader format, the shape (geometry) column isn't recognized. When I chose SQL Server Non-Spatial, the shape column is recognized, but the output SDE feature class doesn't have a recognized spatial reference, and the points don't display at all on the map (ArcMap). Is there any advice for trying to accomplish this? Using SQL for geometry joins, spatial functions, etc. is what we're planning on doing for generating data for SDE feature classes... Many thanks! -m
I have a set of CSV files and for each of them I would just like to read in the first line of the file. Is there an easy way to do that? I know I could read them in and use a counter and a tester to throw away all but the first line - but that would still mean that the whole of the file was read first - these are large files so I would prefer not to do that. cheers IanM
Hi all. I'm trying to run example from FME Server Playground (http://fmeserver.com/userweb/sharper/playground/index.html) called "Stream KML to ArcGis map" on my own FME Server(trial). I've download REST-kmlstreaming.fmw and Transit.sdf. I also publis REST-kmlstreaming.fmw to my server. When i'm trying to run example with my URL (http://<my server>:<port>/fmedatastreaming/test/REST-kmlstreaming.fmw) i recieve this error: dojo.io.script.jsonp_dojoIoScript2._jsonpCallback({"error":{"code":400,"message":"File not found. Wrong url or out of memory.","details":[]}}); But if i run Data Streaming Service from server i recieve correct kml file. FME Server 2013 SP3 Any suggestions what i'm doing wrong?
