You've been asked to install FME Server. First question you ask yourself, what does the IT department want? Is it an Express Installation or is it Distributed or maybe Customized installation. Do I install an Express first and later reconfigure a distributed database? Do I use an FME Server System Share on the network or locally? What are the advantages? Do I need a new user for the FME Services. The questions go on and the options are many, often leading to more questions. As we have FME server deployed externally, I have to make a trade off to either upgrade or skip a version.Big changes I found were: - GUI (less clicks) - Projects (export/import for better DTAP) - Security (AD)Do I miss any important changes, besides the upgraded FME Desktop functionality? (readers / writers / transformers)With these changes I tend to skip a version as nothing comes for free, please don't be offended dear Safers. I am very happy with the functionality in the 2016.1 package. As a technician I would love to upgrade but you know how it works...

I want to install a newer version of fme but windows 7 does not have fme in it's list of installed programs. I can however run the program from the task bar so it is installed ok. Is there an unistall utility from SAFE? How can I uninstall fme otherwise?
I have a FME Server 2017.0 - Build 17259 - win64 and I was wondering if it's possible to have a 32 bit engine (2016 v1.2.1: we need it because the APIC plugin is not working with 2017 version) working together with a 64 bit engine (installer with the server). If it's possible, how can we manage to license all that?Thanks for your help!

I've configured FME Server for HTTPS/SSL following the documentation. I've successfully imported my certificates, configured the web.xml, server.xml and config.xml and there are no errors in the Tomcat log files after restarting. Whenever I try to go to FME Server home page I get "Error SSL version or cipher mismatch" The ciphers and protocols listed in server.xml do match what my browsers support (Chrome and IE) after testing on https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/viewMyClient.html
How can upgrade the license of 2015 FME Server to FME server 2016. In FME server 2016 there is no licensing assistant to use the license from floating server.
We are running FME Server (2015.1.0.2 - Build 15482 - win32). Engines and licenses seem to work properly, jobs can be started and are processed by FME Server. Since we want to downsize the number of engines used, we try to follow procedure as described under "FME Server Web User Interface > Using the Interface > Configuring the Number of FME Engines to Start" which states: "Change the Engine Count field to the desired number of engines, and click Change Number of Engines"However, when we log in using an account that has superuser privilege, the list of Available Engines is there and shows 2 engines, but there is no "Engine Count" field nor "Change Number of Engines" button. Any ideas how to fix this?
I'm having trouble with the backupconfiguration task, as it doesn't run correctly. I've configured my FME Server for HTTPS and the backupconfiguration log file is still showing the unsecure url. How do i fix this?
Hello,since a few weeks I'm not able anymore to publish workbenches on FME Server.The error message is: Login failed (Proxy Error) - Ensure that proxy configuration is correct, and that the proxy is accessbile. The FME Server URL, Username and Password are definitly correct. Other users can connect to it from other computers. In the past I could up- and download too, but since a few weeks the error message occurs. My computer hasn't changed. I can access the FME Server via Browser with the URL.How can I solve this issue?ThanksLana
We are using FME server 2017.0. I ran the Oracle scripts to create a FMESERVER user and installed the FME objects. After I changed the fmeCommonConfig.txt (see below) and restarted the FME server, I can not login the web UI using my previous logins. I can login admin/admin, but the contents are pretty much blank. I have no option to import the previously exported fsconfig file. I have to restore the original fmeCommonConfig.txt to go back the working FME server. Hello, We have a number of FME Server Subscriptions setup which have just stopped working after a certain period. If you create another subscription with the same details then it works fine. They are all email subscriptions. I've checked the log file and I can't see anything wrong with it... does anyone know what might be causing it or how I can monitor it? Thank you, Peter.
Hello,I am using FME Server 2016.1 and I need to reference a folder named "farms:. I have added that into the config file and it appears in my resources list, no problem. However, the issue I am having is that I cannot run any workspace when I select the file for processing. If the files are put in other resources like data/myfiles, there is no issue. I know that you can route a workspace in a schedule to use a specific engine, and I know that you can append "tm_tag=fast" to the end of a URL to do the same, but how do you specify a tag when the user runs a workspace in the Run dialog page? I can't expect the user to understand that they have to add "tm_tag=fast" to the URL, they just run the workspace.Thanks
