Shapefile Writer: Maximum number of open output files reached, caching additional features until end of translation

Hello,I am splitting 49 Polygons from one shapefile to 49 separate shapefiles (see inputFile and fmw attached).In the logfile I get a :Shapefile Writer: Maximum number of open output files reached, caching additional features until end of translationThe translation is successful and neither a warning or an error is outputted (see test-fmw-log.txt attached)All shapefile concerned by the caching are corrupt and I get a:Worker 2876 > Shapefile Reader: File size and filesize record in header mismatch. File claims size of '108' bytes but is '112' on disk. Reading as many records as possible, but file may be corruptI am working with FME(R) 2019.2.0.0 (20191105 - Build 19801 - WIN64)I think, these kind of translations never had problem...Thanks for your support.Florian

Can I read the info behind a lyr-files with FME? I am looking for a method to retrieve the source data of the layer via FME. And at best also the info of the legend itself (such as the font type used in the legend). Thank you very much

FeatureWriter setting all attributes to CHAR 200

Hi,When I first created my workbench, the FeatureWriter seemed to create all my shapefiles properly. Featres were coming from an SDE GeoDB through a FeatureReader, and then after some manipulation, exported though the FeaureWriter with no problems.Now when I go to take an existing feature that is already in the FeatureReader, and export a different shapefile through the existing FeatureWriter, all of the attributes end up being CHAR 200. I'm not sure why this is happening.Here is a screen shot of an existing shapefile in the FeatureWriter, where the attributes are correct. If I take the same source feature, and add it to the FeatureWriter and just give it a new export name, the attributes are all messed up. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks

Aggregator issues with ArcMap but works with FME

Hi all, I have been trying to put together some GIS data we have that was in a list format. When i use FME and check with the inspector this looks fine, data is what i am after. The same when i produce this in QGIS, looks fine. When using arcmap, i seem to see some of the shapes are not getting the same symbology and just displays the outline of the shape. Does anyone know why this might be the case and is there a solution to this issue?

Set ByLayer color (autocad_layer_color) in DWG.

What I want to do is to write a DWG, define the color of the lines ByLayer (autocad_color = 256) and set the Layer Color according to the feature. As the layer names are dynamically formed, I can not work with a template.When reading the forums this seems not to be possible. But when reading the documentation, it looks like it is, as the "Used by Reader or Writer" column says Both.https://docs.safe.com/fme/html/FME_Desktop_Documentation/FME_ReadersWriters/acad/Feature_Representation.htmSo just to be sure, is it possible to get this to work? I could create a template on the fly and use that one if needed. Maybe a template in DXFR12, as that format is open?

ArcGIS Pro SDK and FME SDK

Good Afternoon,Is it possible to utilize FMEObjectsDotNet4 with ArcGIS Pro SDK? I am trying to develop a button using ArcPros SDK, that when a feature is selected in ArcPro and the button is clicked, an FME workbench runs. I currently have the feature selection completed, but when I try to utilize the "GetPublishedParamNames" method, I receive an "System.AccessViolationException: 'Attempted to read or write protected memory" error message.I'm fairly new to SDKs, so I may be utilizing things incorrectly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks!

Hello everybody, We are looking for a solution to update a spatial index in a Esri SDE database after the Geodatabase_SDE writer has finished writing the data. We are going the work with FME Desktop 2020. The only solution we could find is making an python script and use this in the "Shutdown python script" event. Does anybody know an easier solution?Greetings from the Netherlands

XMLTemplater and string manipulations in XQuery ?

Hi list.When setting expressions in XMLTemplater for ROOT and various sub templates, one uses fme functions like "fme:has-attribute" and fme:get-attribute".But is it possible to use string functions as well, e.g. to test the first character in a string retrieved by "fme:get-attribute" ? I can't seem to find any documentation about this with Safe.I've found some string functions documented at Microsoft, e.g. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/xquery/functions-on-string-values-substring?view=sql-server-ver15Here a namespace of "fn" is used, but will that work in FME ?And how do I wrap multiple function within each other ?Is it { f1( f2() ) } or is it { f1( { f2() } ) } ?Any insights will be appriciated.Cheers.

How to make snippets of equal length in two directions?

I'm using the IterativeSnipper transformer to segment ~1000 polylines to cut each to a maximum of 5 miles however if there is a northbound polyline I want to ensure the southbound polyline is also snipped at the same location. The southbound for example is exactly overlayed across the northbound. Is there a way I can do this where if two segments fall within a 2 meter buffer they will both be snipped at the same location? Alternatively from my research I hear it is possible to do what I desire by snipping one direction, pulling the start and end gps values and then do an anchored snap method? to make sure the opposite direction is snipped at the same location? I dont know exactly how to set this up though.

Dissolve multiple 3D surfaces to get lowest elevation

Hi!I have a task for an aviation project where there are multiple 3D surfaces of runway approaches (from DWG). I need to take the multiple surfaces and create a single composite "blanket" object taking all of the lowest elevation information. This is because the client would like to know how high an obstruction can be before it intersects with any of the approach boundaries. I've seen SurfaceDissolver & SurfaceFootprintReplacer, but I'm not the best at FME so I'm unsure of a good workflow.Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

Find neighbour with different attribute value

Hi community, I'm trying to find a neighbour for some polygons, then I'm dissolving the base with its candidate. Until here, everything works fine, I get the candidate and dissolve them, but I'm facing the issue that those polygons are multiparts and sometimes Neighbour Finder finds as candidate another multipart of the same father and when I dissolve them the multipart stills as it was before because for some cases the transformer finds the neighbour in a shared coordinate and that candidate has the same value in attribute X. I considered to filter previously all features named as "A" for the example below, but "A" could be a valid candidate for other multiparts with another value different to "A", so I think that is not an option. Reading/Writing in a GDB

Hi,i'm trying to read features from a GDB and to import them into another GDB. The two GDB are basically the same thing just that in the start GDB some features are defined as "Double" while in target GDB they are defined as "Float".When i inspect the data from the reader in Data inspector i can see that some features look f.e. like 2603368.3700000001 instead of 2603368.37 (they all have maximum 2 decimals) and when I write them in the target GDB the decimals are completly gone. I tried to round them with "AttributeRounder" before write them and to change the "User Attribute Type" in the writer but it didnt help. Can anyone see what I am doing wrong?Thank you very much

Generalize with barrier feature

Is there any transformer that would allow me to generalise a linear feature but use an area polygon as a barrier so that the line does not cross the barrier when it's generalised ? For example a linear road network and polygon road network . I want to generalise the road lines but keep them inside the road polygons . ?

MySQL database connection error

I'm trying to connect to a local instance of MySQL 8.0 using FME Desktop 2018. When I test the database connection I get the following error:Opening MYSQL_DB reader for dataset 'test1'Error connecting to MYSQL database('127.0.0.1','test1'): 'Can't initialize character set unknown (path: compiled_in)'I can successfully: 1. Connect to a remote MySQL database in FME Desktop.2. Connect to my local test1 table in QGIS (using the same credentials).3. Connect to my local test1 table using MySQL Workbench.Googling seems to suggest the error is related to the database or table collation, but I've confirmed that the collation settings are the same for my local database and remote database. Besides even if they were different, why can I connect using QGIS.Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Assign closest category number to a value

Hello, I have three records: 1.07, 2.34 and 4.81 and I have 5 different categories:categoryvalueA0.65B2.55C3.85D4.75E7.95 I want to assign a category to each of my three records. The category assigned should be the one with the value closest to the record.For record 1.07 it should be category A, for 2.34 it should be B and for 4.81 it should be D. How can the assignment be done automatically? What transformer to use? thx.

DWG to GLTF (or any 3d with instancing, object names, materials etc). Beginner question

Hi, this is a beginner question. I couldn't find relevant tutorials for converting 3d formats including some basic information and hierarchy. For example:* Object names* Instancing* Materials* Textures.* Metadata* Transforms or scene hierarchyIdeally I would be converting 3d objects inside DWG files into GLTF that I could then import into a game engine. Possibly any example would get me past my mental block though, and could be generalised to other formats?

Use Aggregator in a loop with Reader

I am looking for a type of loop or other solution where I can update my input data and perform an analysis. The output will effect the input data and so on. A kind of loop. Is that possible to create in FME? My workbench until now is attached to this post.Currently I am working with a large tabel.
