LengthToPointCalculator in 3D issue

Hi,I am trying to use the LengthToPointCalculator in 3D mode however whenever I run my workflow I get the following warning message: WARN |@Length -- Cannot calculate length to a point in 3D. Continuing using 2DThe line geometry is definitely 3D as I can see the elevations for each vertex in the Inspector. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, do they have a solution?I am using FME Desktop 2019.1Thanks,

Mass convert autocad splines to polylines

We are converting 100s of DGNs to DWGs. All of our complex shapes (that have an arc as a component of that shape) in DGN are being converted to splines in DWG. We want to drop all splines to polylines, while still maintaining the arc information. Is there a way in FME to do that?

Set schema of three different output files based on three external files

Hi guys,I have three Excel files which need to be converted into a Esri file gdb as three tables.As a schema for each of these tables I want to use three other tables which are stored in a gdb. I imported the last mentioned tables as readers and tried to implement their schemas in the writer of the first three tables using 'Schema definition'.However, I got an error when running the translationI am doing something wrong?

Using fanout to export to excel tabs

Hello, I want to create an excel file for each customer, within each file, you can find information regarding this customer. I use therefore the fanout option in the writer. However, I have two tabs that I want to change in Excel, so I tried using 2 writers (one for each tabs), with the same name output name on the same location but fme does not seem to be able to see that these tabs need to be merged in 1 file (th name I put in the fanout). This results in 2 files in the output, and because they have the same name, one file is not exported as Excel. Is there a possibility in fme to export two multiple tabs, when using fanout?

Fanout Feature Classes to existing GDB using FC name

I'm have a workspace whereby I get constantly new and updated data from the client. Based on what the data is I'd like it to fan out to it's correct GDB. The GDB's from the client come with all the data in one.E.g. ENV_BadgersENV_GCNsHIS_MonumentsPRP_LandAcessThese need to be moved into their corresponding GDB'sE.g.REF_ENVREF_HISREF_PRPMy current Method is just to move them based on GDB, and I also use the Insert, Create If Needed function, then the Insert, Truncate Existing. I've found if I used Drop and Create the workbench will break if there is new data (nothing to 'Drop'), same stands for Truncate Existing. So two problems:Fanout data into existing GDB based on name Import new and updated data without having to run twice for Create and Truncate.

spatial selection of polygons, which are touched by another polygon?

Hello,I'm trying to select the polygons that are cut by another polygon (Boundary Box) (polygons that are completely inside or completely outside the Boundary Box polygon are of interest to me). My attempts with the SpatialFilter and SpatialRelator ("Requestor Touches Supplier") all failed. Are there any other possibilities? I have a shapefile as source data and the boundary box polygons are created from LAS files using BoundsExtractor and BoundingBoxAccumulator. Thanks a lot in advance

How should I set up the FME DataSource parameters in Python?

I have successfully created an FME Workspace Runner Python script that will launch Workbench (Desktop) and start an FME conversion process. This is an effort on my part to eventually sell the idea of purchasing FME Server. Everything works quite well, with exception to one small glitch. I cannot seem to get the script to automatically retrieve the appropriate files (based on date as per below) to include in the process. Currently, before I run the Workspace Runner I need to first (manually) include all of the files that I would like FME to convert in an FME Reader, but I would like this step to run entirely from the Python script.I think I know where the problem is (see below in blue), but I don't know how to remedy the parameters (if it's even possible).The data in question is referred to as NMEA data (National Marine Electronics Association) and is basically Ship born GPS data that is standard in most GPS units today. Hello, While configuring a license from the command line, I found this article.Only, I couldn't get it to work.The problem is, that you have to use fmelicensingassistant_cmd.exe in all cases. (Not just fmelicensingassistant)Could you please update your documentation accordingly?And maybe explain that you can retreive the license type bij running the --query command line. Clip polygons outside shape boundary

Hello, I am trying to clip polygons which are outside of a shape boundary. Basically as attached image, I'd like to clip/ erase all yellow selected polygons. The first step is working to clip ortho photo and generate polygon terrain from boundaries. But the "left" over polygons in between (with no ortho photo) are the ones which would need to be erased.I've tried deaggregator to get all polygons from the generated terrain and feed into the clippee. The Clipper is the shape polygons from first image. No success so far.I appreciate any ideas.Thanks!

line combiner ,how can i get old line id for each line that i combined it ,new line id for long line

i used line combiner to join more than segment line and lines intersects with another lineseach line has around seven segment line so i used line combiner to join more than segments of line and also join the next line that intersects.so i have now long line and it is working so nicely but i have still question if i need also to export the id of each line that intersects with next line to make long line .so if 5 lines intersectes in nodes so i need id for each line that intersected with neighbour line.so as example for 5 lines connected i need five lines id plus the whole new id for the long line that contains 5 old id line.really i learned alot from FME Community and from membersThanks alot

3D Polygon to Pointcloud

Hi,After spending some times on creating a pointcloud from a 3D Polygon, I realized that the PointcloudCombiner does not correctly interpolate on a 3D Polygon. So the workaround is to create a pointcloud with PointcloudCombiner (Points elevation are WRONG) > Pointcloudcoercer (to multipoint) > SurfaceDraper (Drape multipoints on 3D Polygon).I think that the pointcloudCombiner should handle the conversion or at least write it in the helpsheet.ThanksFlorian

error handling in FME Server

Hi :) I have a question - how do you handle errors of workspaces on FME Server (connected to data, or workspace errors not with FME Server)? My question is connected with the fact that none of the final users of scripts published on FME Server are familiar with FME, and that FME Server logfiles aren't that legible, so I would like to write my own error messages that are simple and easy to understand for final users. The perfect solution would be that author of script would be able to write conditional error messages - If this goes wrong send that to user. Is it possible? Do you know how to achieve something like this (or something similar) ?

Merge attributes from mulitple features onto new object

I am using SpatialRelator to merge attributes from intersecting features B, C, D etc onto feature A. The number of supliers varies from 1 and upwards 4-5. My problem is that the transformer only seems to read the first intersecting suplier that enters, and then moves on. Any ideas on how to solve this and merge the attributes from all incoming features?

Raster DEM from pointcloud - raster origin

Hello,I have one point cloud tile with extents, for example, of min (0,0) and max (1000, 1000).I want to make a DEM from this point cloud, which seems pretty straightforward, but it isn't.If I want a raster with a 1x1 cell size, the RasterDEMGenerator makes a DEM that has 1001x1001 pixels and extent min (-0.5,-0.5) max (1000.5,1000.5). The main problem is, that the values of the bounding pixels are not ok, as half of the pixel surface does not have corresponding points.Is it anyhow possible to define that I simply want a DEM between 0,0 and 1000, 1000 (original point cloud extent) with cell size 1x1?From my point of view, it just doesn't make sense to implement a "point cloud to DEM" solution that always takes half of a pixel size larger extent than the original point cloud extent, which is, of course, empty (without points). I know how it works; the algorithm places the center of the left lowest DEM cell to the point of min extent of the input point cloud, and this

How to expose FME Feature Attributes with the SQLExecutor?

Hello, I'm having troubles with exposing FME Feature Attributes with the SQLExecutor. I use the SQL Executor with this statement:And therefore I entered these attributes to be exposed: I would like to add the FME Feature Attribute ‘SAMPLE_NR’. - How do I need to add the attribute to the SQL statement? - And what should I put as ‘Attribute to Expose’? I tried this:With the term SAMPLE_NR or '' or as Attribute to Expose. But each time I get the value <missing> in the SAMPLE_NR column. Thanks in advance for any help.

Rounding Coords on a Point Cloud

Hello, I am attempting to round the xy coords of a point cloud. I am using a PointCloudExpressionEvaluator. This is the expression - @round(@Component(x)) But it is throwing the following error; PointCloudExpressionEvaluator (PointCloudEvaluationFactory): Failed to parse the EXPRESSION_LIST clause. The provided value was '@round(@Component(x))'. Please ensure that your syntax is correct Round does not appear in the PointCloudExpressionEvaluator in the Math Funtions list, does this mean it is not available? Ben

Create roadmarkings from line

In *.dwg I've got some roadmarkings which I would like to export to fbx. In *.dwg that's a linetype.The roadmarkings are default polylines, How can I get the same view from a dwg in a fbx?Could I for example divide the line into pieces (3m roadmarking, 9m empty, 3m roadmarking etc), and...I would like to have them in 3D Thanks!

How to find the top of each bump in a DEM or DSM

(FME 2019.2.1.0, WIN64)Hi,I have a raster DSM of max tree heights (max elevation heights over eucalypt forest). I would like to place a point on the top of each tree (max z value). The trees are not pointed like pine trees but have rounded tops.I have attempted to use RasterSegmenter (water shed) with limited success, by using RankCalculator with group on each water shed polygon, and then filtering with rank =1 (1 being the highest ranked pixel in each group). But this relies on the water shed being applied correctly.I have converted the raster to a point cloud using GeometryCoercer, I can see in a 3D point cloud viewer the tree tops, but I do not know how to go about finding the max z value for each clump of points that represent a tree.Is it possible to do something like this?Ben

Data shattering leading to error running translation

Hi all,I'm a newcomer to FME from the geospatial side of things and have inherited a somewhat large model of complex geometric operations (clips, intersects, bounding boxes etc...). On trying to run the model (with data and a workbench that has, supposedly, succeeded in 2018) I always encounter this "data shattering" warning leading to a fatal error.Hit data-shattering case as 55 new nodes were created after phase 7, compared to 2 nodes created after phase 1To resolve the above issue, try setting a tolerance if your transformer has a Tolerance parameterError running translationI believe I've narrowed the problem down to a NeighborFinder operator, and have attached screenshots of the processes leading into it, as well as its parameters. From this prior answer, and linked blog post, it seems that "data shattering" relates to problems of over accuracy, so to speak (?).
