Never update data from writer after fault condition?

Hello all,I have the experience is that a FME workbench will never update or truncate the data of a writer after that a fault condition has raised in a FME workbench.I would like to know if this is the way an FME workbench works to be sure that our data will never be changed after a fault condition in a FME workbench.Could you inform us if my experience is correct? Thank you for your answer.

can you control which fme version to run wokspacerunner with?

So i have 2 different fmws to run. One I need to run with FME 2016 32bit. The other needs to run on FME 2016 64bit. I'd like to create one parrent fmw that will run these two fmws with each separate workspace runner in series. Can I do that? Or should i use SystemCaller and send a proper command for each workspace.

Help with understanding difference between missing and empty

Hello,I'm reading a shapefile created by ArcGis and I noticed something strange (or not?).In ArcGis, if I create a new attribute (for example text attribute) but don't enter any value, when I read it with FME, such field is interpreted as empty field in visual preview table of the reader (there is nothing in that field). But if I enter some value in ArcGis, store it, than delete this value and store it again, than when I read it with FME it is interpreted as <missing>. Why? Why not empty again? Is this correct interpretation by the FME?From help:Empty – The attribute exists and has an empty string as its value.Null – The attribute exists and has a value of null.Missing (Selected Attributes Only) – The attribute does not exist.

Using system caller to change a folder name

I'm trying to change the name of a folder when running a workspace. I would like it to update the folder name from [job name_YYYYMMDD] to put in the date of when the workspace is run. I tried using system caller however it doesn't seem to work: below is a screenshot of my command line:I know @DateTimeNow() doesn't have the date format I'm looking for, does anybody know how I can update that as well?

Block List from DWG Template

Is there a way to get a list of the blocks contained in an AutoCAD DWG Template?I can see in the DWGStyler that FME is able to read the list of blocks from the template, so was wanting to see if that same list can be extracted in other ways?

With the latest upgrade to the AttributeExposer I'm no longer able to retrieve the fme_basename, which I need for further processing. Does anyone have a work-around for this?

postgres writer inserts 0 instead of actual value

I got a workspace that I run and as an output it creates one row with statistics.If I run the workspace the output is correct both with inspector and the row written to postgres.If I use another workspace with a workspace runner to run the workspace for multiple areas, one of my column values is 0 in every row.Any thoughts?

My coordinate system names are corrupted and causing problems

I am unable to write features to a feature class, because FME doesn't recognize the coordinate system. This data is a feature class from a FIleGDB, in LL-WGS84. I didn't originally set the coordinate system, and it seem to read and position the features appropriately, but inspecting the features coming out of the reader, coordinate system is defined like this, with extra characters. When I try to write the features to a new feature class, this message comes up. Feature Caching is ONThe workspace may run slower because features are being recorded on all output ports.Coordinate system named _LL-WGS84_0 does not exist. The workbench appears to run successfully, but the feature class does not open and if I view written data in FME, the map opens up somewhere in Asia. I had added a custom transformer a couple of weeks ago, so I thought that might be causing the issue. I removed it from the documents folder and restarted FME, but it didn't seem to fix the problem. Hi guys, I'm trying to add a named constraint primary key into a large number of SQL Server tables joined in one reader with this code in the 'SQL to Run after Write' part: FME_SQL_DELIMITER ;ALTER TABLE @Value(fme_basename)ADD CONSTRAINT PK_@Value(fme_basename) PRIMARY KEY (id1)But I got this error:Microsoft SQL Server Spatial Writer: Query failed, possibly due to a malformed statement. Query Text `ALTER TABLE @Value(fme_basename)ADD CONSTRAINT PK_@Value(fme_basename) PRIMARY KEY (Id1)'. Provider error `(-2147217900) Incorrect syntax near '@Value'.' How to retrieve several different terminator codes in Windows terminal ?

Hello everyone.I am currently working on FME scripts with different fatal cases. So in one FME script, for each fatal case, there is a terminator (sometimes I have like 3 terminators in the same script). Those terminators all have a different termination message.All of my FME command lines are gathered in a batch file, and I also extract the error level (%errorlevel%).I initially thought that when running the batch file, I would be able to extract the different error codes that I set up in the terminators. Instead, I only get code 0 (success) or code -1 (failure).Is it possible to extract the codes I defined from FME Workbench ?I have seen several solutions like sending the code into an email, or using python, but I have to use a batch file to run all my FME command lines. Therefore, I am looking for a solution that would allow me to get the error code after the FME script terminated, in the batch file. DWG to gdb projection problem

I'm totally new to FME and straight away having problems with conversion from DWG. The conversion is successful but when i zoomed in to the layer (in Arcgis Pro) the parcel data appears to be located somewhere in the middle of the ocean. The parcel data is in GDM2000 Malaysia RSO projection. I wanted it to be displayed in UTM WGS84 48N along with other GIS layers. I really couldn't find out what I am doing wrong here. Hello everybody, FME Server 2020 establishes a successful connection to the Active Directory. User and password input from AD unsuccessful when SSO is activated. If SSO is deactivated, the login is successful. However, the use of SSO is incorrect. The following entry is in the log:INFORM RequestHandler thread 401831: Accepted new client connection from /127.0.0.1 on port 7071 The service account is configured with SPN on the FQDNThe service account is also used successfully for the Active Directroy connection. extract groups of mtext and then re-assemble into attributes

I have autocad drawings with mtext. however one group of text is not one mtext feature.They also are center justified. so in order for me to get a common x coordinate for all the rows in a group i had to make the reader explode mtext objects.1. now my first difficulty was to get the autocad_alignment_x. After exploding the mtext i now have this value.2. I need to collect only the text that is the same height, font and vicinity of the first text. (there are standard strings that i can use to get the first line).3. iterate through and separate each row of text into a separate attribute. then use the file name to merge that feature with another on the name of the file.no problem right?My idea is to get the x coord of the first text. then find the next text down by subtracting from the y coord. and so on until i have found all 12 pieces of the information. then i will have to send each value out to populate attributes.

Using filecopy to copy a file in a user parameter specified folder

My current workspace has a prompt for the user to specify a folder that will be copied and uploaded to a few different places. One thing I would also like it to do is copy a .kml file inside this folder to another location. Every time the workspace will be run the user will be selecting a different folder but the .kml inside each folder will be going to the same spot as every other .kml. Here is my current filecopy writer where $(job_folder) is the user specified folder. I try to set the source dataset as the user parameter but to only "filter" through any .kml's inside: Is this possible? Thanks!

Use WMS link as shapefile within workbench

Hello,I am struggling with the use of a WMS reader within my workbench. I would like to use the outcome of the WMS reader as a shapefile and use it within a Clipper transfomer. But the outcome of the WMS reader is not (yet) suitable for shapefile purposes, as it is a raster. I tried the transformer RasterToPolygonCoercer, but it results in a lot of polygons instead of only one polygon (matching the national border of the Netherlands). Should I use another transformer? Or is it possible to read the WMS with different settings? For the WMS reader, I use the following URL: https://geodata.nationaalgeoregister.nl/bestuurlijkegrenzen/wms?request=GetCapabilitiesWithin 'Parameters...' I select under 'Layers' the layer 'landsgrens'. This is the layer where I am interested in. FeatureWriter don't update attribute definition in automatic mode

Hello, I think I've found a little bug.Here my version : FME(R) 2019.1.2.0 (20190829 - Build 19630 - WIN64) I'm using a FeatureWriter to write features in a PostgreSQL DB.Here my parameters : In the Attribute tabs, I set the definition to Automatic so the structure is created from datas comming into the FeatureWriter : Now the bug :As I said, I've plugged datas into the FeatureWriter and set the Attribute Definition on Automatic and "voila", my structures are automatically defined.Now, I add an attribute on a feature type that goes into the FeatureWriter (with an AttributeCreator for exemple).The FeatureWriter doesn't add automatically this new Attribute in the definition of the table that is written in the DB.I have to edit the FeatureWriter parameters so the Attribute definition is automatically updated to get the new attribute (in fact I've just had to click on the button to open the dialog box and then click on "OK" to close it) .The attribut

DWG Template Attributes

We have a DWG Template that defines layer names, and a range of attributes like colour, line type, line weight, block names, etc. In the main this template contains no features.I want to use the raw (featureless) attributes in the template to merge with an existing drawing to check if the layer names and associated attributes are matched. Is this possible?I have a table that has been created with the raw attributes and can merge that with the supplied drawing but if the template changes the table also needs to change, so was hoping I could remove the step to create the table and just read the template.

FeatureReaders losing their ports in 2020

I am working on a project for a client where i need to handover workspaces that contain multiple feature readers all with multiple outputs in quite a complex workspace. This is fine as the database location is set in a workspace runner outside of these workspaces. However if the client needs to open the workspace to make any edits, i've found since the 2020 update, if you open a workspace and the FeatureReader cant locate the data source it just drops all output ports into a generic port essentially breaking it. Has anyone else found this or can think of a way to stop this from happening?Additionally since the 2020 update i have found that when you select datasets to read in to a FeatureReader via the 'tick' box selection that it is not keeping the ones already selected and removes them and adds the new selected ones only. My workaround has to actually type the feature type name into the text editor to get it to add an additional feature type.

Copying and renaming a folder to a different location

I'm pulling my hair out trying to get filecopy writer to work. What I want to do is copy a folder (and it's sub-folders) to a new location and to rename the copied folder. I'm using user-parameters to prompt for the new folder name but I can't get the file copy to work properly. I've combed through old forums but haven't found anything helpful. I think I can do the renaming with a system caller but I still cant get the filecopy to work... Any help is much appreciated. I feel like this is fairly straight-forward, I'm still quite new to FME.
