How can I configure FME Server 2013 to use Exchange Server for notifications?  FME Server 2010 supported this and I can't seem to find any documentation on how to do so in FME Server 2013.

Hi all,   I have some question concerning SDE 2 CAD (dwg) translation. I work with DWGStyler transformers. So far it works, but if I open the DWG file the hachure-layer lies over the polyline- and text-layers. Is there a possibility to manage/determine the draworder of the layers? Can I adjust sth. in the DWGStyler or in the advanced parameters?   I would appreciate some tips and help =) Thanks a lot.   Heike

FME'rs, I'm doing some geometry checks on an ESRI file geodatabase.  The workspace worked fine until I got to a particularly large dataset.  Now it runs for a long while and then quits with a popup window saying fme.exe has stopped.  I don't know if the subject line, which comes from the log file has anything to do with it but I wondered if anyone might be able to explain what it means. Thanks, Alan

I am trying to publish a workbench to FME server that contains a esri shape reader with a merged feature type.    My input shapes files do not have standard names.  In addition, there could be just one or several input shape files.  When running the workbench from Desktop, the Feature Types to read parameter will allow me to select all the shapefiles listed in my target directory.  However, when I publish the fme server, there doesn't seem to be anyway to populate this parameter and as a result all my input shapes are ignored.  Is there anyway I can force the workbench to always read all possible input shapefiles?

Hi there,  I am trying to convert DXF to TAB, with dxf layer names converted to attributes of the single  MapInfo table. In another words, I need MapInfo table with attributes telling me what layer each feature belongs to.  What are my possible solutions?  Thanks N

Dear community I'm trying to build a workflow that convert an autocad dxf to a geotiff, 1 dxf, 1 tiff, I don't want the dxf (dataset) to be splitted into layers (data type). I was able to create it and it works except for the output tiff name, that I want to be the same as dxf name in input. The workspace is this: http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/7752/fmedxftotiff.png The dxf reader has a fme_basename that is the name, without extension, of the input dxf. This parameter goes trough each transformer but, when it comes to the imagerasterizer it changes. Imagerasterizer exposes its own fme_basename, that is equal to the imagerasterizer name (i.e imagerasterizer). How can I tell the tiff writer to use the fme_basename coming from the reader (i.e. dxf name) to save the tif?  Am I clear? Thank you Pietro

Hello, From what I am able to tell, FME is a very powerful spatial data extraction tool.  But I have some specific use cases I am trying to decide if FME is a software that can be of use to me for extracting features out of Lidar data. A perfect example of my needs would be to use FME on lidar data taken of, say, along a  street where we need to extract the edge of curb lines.   Another example would be to detect changes over time, say i have a lidar dataset of a hillside taken in at two different times throughout the year.  Would one be able to use FME to detect changes over time between the two datasets? Any help would be greatly appreciated on the matter! Thank you all for reading my post. 

Hello!  I have to add texture from a single .bmp file for more objects( roof buildings grouped by a common code) The target format is Openflight (.flt). I'm blocked in this procedure, please help me!!! For other details see the previous post named "add texture to polygons" In other words i can obtain for each object one texture file and i need a single texture file for a group of objects.  Thanks!

Hi.  I am using a SpatialFilter transformer to join two Oracle tables, and routing the result set to an Inspector and to a KML Writer.  The Inspector is correctly showing all wanted attributes from both tables (I am using AttributeKeepers to filter to only wanted attributes).  The KML Writer, however, is only showing the attributes for the parent table.  In the KML Writer, under Dynamic Properties, I am selecting both source schemas, so I'm unsure why the Writer is only showing the attributes from the parent schema.  Is there a way I can make the KML Writer show the attributes from both schemas (preferably without using an external .csv as I don't know whether I will have access to external files within a production mode).   Thanks very much.  JR

Good morning.    I am trying to join two Oracle tables, TableA and TableB, to output a KML file that contains attributes from both tables.  I am able to do this presently by using a temporary table created within Oracle and then simply reading this table within FME and then using the KML writer to output the KML.  On production, I will not be allowed to use temporary tables, so I will need to handle the join within FME.     In Oracle, my join condition to create the temporary table is very simple: a.state = b.state.  How would I accomplish this join between TableA and TableB and keep the attributes a.col1, a.col2, a.col3, b.col1 in my output KML?  I have tried various methods, but all without success.  I am always only able, when I view the KML, to see attributes a.col1, a.col2, a.col3 or b.col1--never all in the same KML.     Thanks very much.    JR

I have an existing workspace that creates a pdf and inserts a logo by reading a png file and then using a rastergeoreferencer to place that on the page (using page units).    I now want to expand this workspace to create multiple pdfs using the fanout on the dataset. However using the fanout means the raster ends up in a pdf file of it's own due to not having the relevant attribute set. I cannot just set the attribute as it needs to go in each pdf output.    Any bright ideas?

Hi,  got an unexpected problem when re-building my FME 2013 workspace for FME 2012. DWG reader fails in the rebuilt workspace.  FME 2012 Workbench error message: AutoCAD Reader: An error occurred for dataset 'AYAA-GE42C_2 dwg.dwg', in function AutoCAD2004Reader::open: 'Not that kind of class'  FME 2013 reads the file without problem. Help would be highly appreciated  Thanks

Hi Guys,    from a source .dgn file i read postal codes from TAGs into a destination .xls file. I want to fill these postal codes in the .xls file  automatically in a Attribute filter and Attribute Creators should been created where an attribute is create which have this postal code.   so when in the Excel file is an postal code 20000, i want to fil automatically a attribute filter which filter a named cell with 20000 and an attribute creator will be set after the filter where an attribute postal code is filled with 20000.      Can I handle this in one workbench?          Greetz and Cheers  Franco

Dear FME experts,   I’m getting quite desperate about a problem I still can’t solve.   The input format is shape which contains areas.   We use FME desktop (2013 SP1) to correct a great number of these geometries. The workbench contains AreaOnAreaOverlayers / Dissolvers etc. At the end we check the geometries with the GeometryValidator where we test all issues. 4 geometries are repaired.   The output is shape again. Until here everything is fine.   After this we use SPIT to load the shapes in PostGIS. Running isValid in PostGIS returns a lot of errors. Self intersections.   Our workaround is to repair geometry in ArcGIS which solves the self intersections. (a lot of them!)   Then we load the shape again in FME, run the feautures through the GeometryValidator with all checks. 16 geometries are getting repaired.   Now we can successfully load the shapes in PostGIS. Hey all.  I wrote an FME Workbench file that reads data from two ArcSDE Geodatabase layers residing on an Oracle database, does some processing, and then writes the resultant output to a new ArcSDE Geodatabase layer on that Oracle database.  When I run the Workbench file from my PC, it takes about one minute with no issues.  I have published it to our FME Server and when I run the jobs, they never finish.  I even let it run overnight earlier in the week and cancelled it the next morning, as it was still running 15 hours later.  I have tried a number of things to identify where the issue is.  If I disable the final link connecting to the writer transformer, the job completes and takes about 1 minute, just like on my PC.  But the moment I enable the link to that writer, it goes back to never finishing.   I also disabled all of the transformers and just connected the writer directly to one of the readers, and it finishe

Hi,  I'm working with (and constrained to) FME 2011.  I'm using ArcSDE30 writer to load images into an ArcSDE 10.0 raster catalog which we then apply the arcGIS Server 10.1 temporal slider toolbar onto allowing us to animate a set of rainfall radar images.  We're using FME to extract and load the images, which works fine.  My problem is how can I get FME to delete those images that are know longer required?  It appears that the arcsde raster catalog writer doesn't have the usual fme_db_operation capability which I was planning on using to send features to 'insert' or 'delete'. It does have a truncate option, but that doesn't appear to work either.  Any Ideas?  Incidentally, why doesn't the arcsde geodb writer handle rastercats?  maybe it does in 2013? I am trying to open the Manitoba Highway Conditions KML and getting an error:    XML Parser error: 'Error in input dataset:'file:///C:/Users/lawiebe/AppData/Local/Temp/FME_OGCKML_KMZ_1363808830240_7172/Manitoba Highway Conditions.kml' line:1 column:425975 message:invalid byte 'l' at position 2 of a 2-byte sequence'   At that location in the file there is a coordinate:  -96.79388,50.18568,94    the 5 of ,50 is character 425975 in the file...  doe not look like an invalid character, that is why I am wondering if there may be a line length limit?    The KML opens in ArcGIS Desktop, Server and Google Earth.  I have tried FMW Workbench, Universal Viewer, Data Inspector 2011,2012,2013 and all have the issue.    The file can be accessed at:  http://roaddata.gov.mb.ca/map/geart

I'm trying to put rasters into a local raster catalog. The writerer only gives me the option to write to a SDE raster catalog, any way to do this other then calling ArcPy?

Hello  Just as info for those who may run into this.  I had a customer complaint that ArcMap does not recognize the coordinate system from a GeoTiff file I created with FME.  Well after lots of going here and there, trying out new GeoTiff writer options and the like the solution was very simple.  ArcGIS 9.3.1 does not recognize the coordinate system in the GeoTiff ArcGIS 10.0 can read and use it without any problem.  Michael

Hello  Today I want to get rid of some repeated pain in workbench I'm going through, by telling it here.  Thanks to steady development there are always added new options to writers. This by itself is very welcome.  Right now I need to utilize a new option in GeoTiff writer which is labelled: "Write Esri-Compatible Coordinate System" (not documented in FME 2012 SP4 btw)  What I have: I have a workspace which is used as a writer-adapter in the FUSION Data Service application we build on top of FME. Besides other such adapters used for all kinds of different formats, this one is specialized on Raster data handling.  This writer-adapter contains 5 different writers (Tiff,GeoTiff,JPeg,JPEG2000,PNG). All of them are set up in a way so they use the same published parameters for as many settings as possible. I've got a CSV file that came from a flood modellnig package. I want to geocode and map the water levels at each point (calculation cell centroid) at a series of time slots.  My problem is this: the file has 1 row for each time slot and 1 column for each calculation cell centroid (about 500,000 columns in all).  When I created a CSV reader for this file FME 2013 just sat for hour after hour and never got as far as displaying the reader on my workbench. Presumably it couldn't cope with trying to generate the schema/list of attributes.  Any ideas for processing this file? The only thing I can think of is writing a utility to transpose the file first.  Thanks, Ian

Hi, I have a problem running an FME task (fmw) as an FME commandline scheduled task on Windows 2008 R2 (64bit).   Background: 1. FME 32bit installed 2. Oracle Client 32 bit installed 3. Oracle client BIN folder n PATH 4. TNS_ADMIN environmental variable set to point to folder containing tnsnames.ora   The problem: I created a scheduled task that runs fme.exe with my workbench file (fmw) as command line parameter. The task is set to use the SYSTEM account to run the task (this is because we cannot use a local or domain account as out policy doesn't allow password saving).  When running the task in this configuration I get the "Oracle client libraries could not be loaded." error.  When running exactly the same task using my user account it works.   What works: 1. Running FME task via workbench. 2. Running the task via commandline (command prompt). 3. Running the scheduled task under my user account (when logged in). 4. As a sanity check I have

Looks like FMEServer 2013 does a Postgis query by default with the owner "public" before using the login specified in the fmw?? The error raised is causing me problems in my application NOTE: All my data is not in the public schema  Log:  Error executing SQL command ('select * from "public"."hafa_acoa_02_poly" limit 0'): 'ERROR: relation "public.hafa_acoa_02_poly" does not exist  No spatial column was found for 'public.hafa_acoa_02_poly'. This is most likely a PostgreSQL table with no spatial data. No geometry will be read. If spatial data is not present, please try using the PostgreSQL reader instead  PostGIS geometry type unknown or empty ().
