A simple authorisation

Hi all, It's been few days I am being introduced to FME, just a question which might sound naive. What is the simplest way to implement Authorisation in FME server. Suppose I have N # of workbenches awaiting an invokation from N no of external systems(both web and non-web) .

Writing polygon features to PostGIS curvepolygon table?

Using FME Desktop 2013 Build 13262 on a Win 7 Pro 64 Bit environment, I obtain polygon as well as curvepolygon objects from within one and the same INTERLIS table as source. xfmap help

hi all,  I need to use the XMLFeatureMapper in a script, and I want to exclude nodes that contain a specific selfclosed tag.  if the xmls is <feature> <ID>1</ID> </feature> <feature> <ID>2</ID> <at1 name="a"/> </feature> <feature> <ID>3</ID> </feature>  I want to read in only feature 1 and 3, excluding all features with tag <at1 />.  I'm really not familiar with xfmap, but managed to get the following to read in all features:   <xfMap> <feature-map> <mapping match=feature">     <feature-type> <literal expr="feature"/> </feature-type>              <attributes> <attribute>                     <name>  <literal expr="ID"/> </name> <value> <extract expr="./ID"/>  </value> </attribute> <attribute>                     <name>  &

WebMapTiler and ESRI's Mosaic Datasets

Can you use the WebMapTiler transformer with Mosaic Datasets as the input?  I want to create map tiles that I can use for a Google maps mash up. I have about 200 scanned mapsheets from the 1920's that I have loaded into a mosaic dataset with modified footprints to clip the maps. Building a single mosaic of all the sheets would be much too large to process.  If the transformer won't work, any suggestions on which one might be better?  -Colin

Hello experts,  I'm struggling with attributes in XML files. Any ideas on how to get a hold of them would be highly appreciated. Adding to a Writer Dynamic Schema from input transformers

Hi FMErs,  I have a workbench that is reading in three shp files, one containing points, another lines and another polygons.  I am using the Dynamic Scheme for the Writer to generate the correct Writer geometry.    Within the workbench, I am using the GeometryFilter to split out the datasets and then using different transformers to generate stats for each type of geometry, e.g. for the points I'm extracting the x,y,z, for the lines, the length and for the polygons the area.  Because I'm using the dynamic schema, these fields are not auto-generated on the writer.    Is there a way to dynamically create these field from the last transformer (prior to the writer) for each geometry?  Thanks very much.

Attribute Renamer

I am very new to FME so apologies in advance.  I am trying to rename attributes in a MapInfo file with the rename attribute transformer in FME. While it seems show the changes when inspected in the Universal Viewer I cannot see the changes when I open the browser in MapInfo. Any ideas?

Loading AutoCAD .DWG in FME Viewer 2012 SP4 Issue

All,  I currently have FME Viewer 2012 SP4 and am trying to load an AutoCAD .dwg file supplied to me by an end user.  However, I am getting an error in the log as followed:  "FME API version of module 'REALDWG' matches current internal version (3.7 20111219) AutoCAD Reader: Unknown or unsupported version of AutoCAD file 'AC1027'. Most recent supported version is 'AC1024', which is also known as 'Release2010'"  Does upgrading to FME 2013 fix this, or is it a known issue being worked through?  Thanks for any help in advance!

Error converting string value to integer/float value

Hello,  We have created a custom transformer that performs a pair association to base input points, within a distance tolerance specified in a published parameter. It's not too complex - makes use of attribute exposer, reprojectors, concatenators and neighbour (pair) finders.  The output pair names are published parameters that are the datatype of the base points, concatenated with "1" and "2". eg OBS_CODE1 OBS_CODE2 When we run the workspace, as it processes the base features it seems to want to convert one of the string values into a float/integer. The value it is trying to convert (CONTENTID) is Data Type 'char'. There is no need to convert the value because they are all alphanumeric values. I have a feeling that the problem lies in the concatenating of the CONTENTID to create the output pair names, but I'm not sure.  Any ideas why it is attempting this unnecesssary conversion?  This workspace is processing ~50 000 features and the logger throws u

SDE 2 CAD (DWG): DWG-layer draworder

Hi all,   I have some question concerning SDE 2 CAD (dwg) translation. I work with DWGStyler transformers. So far it works, but if I open the DWG file the hachure-layer lies over the polyline- and text-layers. Is there a possibility to manage/determine the draworder of the layers? Can I adjust sth. in the DWGStyler or in the advanced parameters?   I would appreciate some tips and help =) Thanks a lot.   Heike

Insufficient memory available

Hi,  I am having problem with running fme workbench, actually, it terminates when using Clipper. Here is a part from log:   Finished clipping 117400 / 4960440 clippees against all clippers Finished clipping 120800 / 4960440 clippees against all clippers Performing low-level intersection at phase #1... 100% done Insufficient memory available -- error code was 2 - please read the FME Help section 'Adjusting Memory Resources' for workarounds. Out of memory.  Program terminating.  Please read the FME Help section 'Adjusting Memory Resources' for workarounds.   I read about adjusting memory and it is recommended to try use 3GB Switch, and there is a note: "Note: The /3GB switch is not required for all, or even most, users of FME. The /3GB switch will only benefit those who require translations that will not currently run with 2GB of addressable memory."  The OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise,4GB RAM,64bit.  I thought a little bit about doing some c

BADNEWS: No object was stored in Object Stash

FME'rs, I'm doing some geometry checks on an ESRI file geodatabase.  The workspace worked fine until I got to a particularly large dataset.  Now it runs for a long while and then quits with a popup window saying fme.exe has stopped.  I don't know if the subject line, which comes from the log file has anything to do with it but I wondered if anyone might be able to explain what it means. Thanks, Alan

Tester no longer works

I have set up a custom transformer that uses a lot of Tester and AttributeCreator transfromers to update a schema. When I use the custom transformer on a single feature class everthing works fine. The tester is testing for a specific attribute.  My problem comes when I want to reuse the custom transformer on a similar feature class. I duplicate the transformer and connect it. FME automatically created published parameters, and my testers are now linked to the parameter that it created. I have verified that I am linking the parameter with my source attribute.  None of the testers now work, and my features now fall through my sequence without getting caught.  Do I have to do anything special to get it work properly?

Transformer parameter

I'm trying to assign a Destination Coordinate System parameter of an AttributeReprojector the value of  a Coordinate system based on a filtered condition of the features that will pass through this transformer.  The filtered condition is the output of this point feature dataset is created from two reprojector transformers based on their location. Their location was determined by the use of a spatialfilter with two features representing SP East and SP West of the state of Georgia. This set of points intersect the boundary of SP East and SP West. The business rule is whichever State plane zone polygon has more points contained, the attributereprojector will use that zone as the destination coordinate system.  I'm facing a wall right now.  I'm trying to find a way how to compare the count from each reprojector using counters. Is there a way I can assign the results of these two counters into a variable and then based on a decision, merge these two outputs into the input of the

[Workbench_2012] Create a generic conversion tool

Hi there,  I regularly have to make data conversion from MapInfo .tab format to Esri .shp, from a lot of different sources and attributes formatting. So now, instead of always opening FME and make my conversion, i would prefer a generic tool I could call directly from ArcCatalog. I started to create a new workbench and saved it as a .fme. I created/modified my published parameters, but i still have a problem : how to automatically transfer data attributes from .tab to .shp, as it is done when i make a conversion using the Quick Translator ?  Does my explanation make sense to you ? Thanks a lot?

Tester on a filename_part

This one has me stumped so I'm hoping there is an easy answer.  I have:- (1) 1x index Shapefile containing tiles representing geoTiff images with attribute LOCATION = "myTile1.tif", LOCATION = "myTile2.tif" etc. (2) 1x of the mentioned geoTiff image files  In my workflow, I have a simple "FilenamePartExtractor" to get the geoTiff filename e.g. _filename_part = "myTile2.tif" (2) + the Index Shapefile (1) both feeding into a "Tester".  In the Tester I have Left Value = "LOCATION", Operator = "=", Right Value = "_filename_part"  When I run it, nothing passes the Tester. If I subs for the actual value i.e. Right Value = "myTile2.tif" the correct feature is matched and passed on.  Eventually, I want to use this workspace in a batch process to recursing through all the geoTiff files in a folder so I don't want "hard-code" the value as described. Is there anything I am doing wrong/mis-u

Using Feature Types to Read with FME Server

I am trying to publish a workbench to FME server that contains a esri shape reader with a merged feature type.    My input shapes files do not have standard names.  In addition, there could be just one or several input shape files.  When running the workbench from Desktop, the Feature Types to read parameter will allow me to select all the shapefiles listed in my target directory.  However, when I publish the fme server, there doesn't seem to be anyway to populate this parameter and as a result all my input shapes are ignored.  Is there anyway I can force the workbench to always read all possible input shapefiles?

Autocad to geotiff - how to make input/output file names equal (except extension)?

Dear community I'm trying to build a workflow that convert an autocad dxf to a geotiff, 1 dxf, 1 tiff, I don't want the dxf (dataset) to be splitted into layers (data type). I was able to create it and it works except for the output tiff name, that I want to be the same as dxf name in input. The workspace is this: http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/7752/fmedxftotiff.png The dxf reader has a fme_basename that is the name, without extension, of the input dxf. This parameter goes trough each transformer but, when it comes to the imagerasterizer it changes. Imagerasterizer exposes its own fme_basename, that is equal to the imagerasterizer name (i.e imagerasterizer). How can I tell the tiff writer to use the fme_basename coming from the reader (i.e. dxf name) to save the tif?  Am I clear? Thank you Pietro

I use the DuplicateRemover one after another can sove it?But I want use a Loop then there's somthing wrong . the Loop features can't be check by the DuplicateRemover ,they all transom output from the duplicate cort?           Any one can tell me something about this

Adding textures to polygons

I have to make 3D models to be opened in Presagis(Openflight format with .flt extension) and i'm requested to diminuate the dimension of the textures files by creating a single texture file for a group of polygons (the polygons are in fact the roofs of the buildings). Since now i've succeded in creating a single texture file for each roof polygon, but as i said i'm requested to use one texture only for each 3D model. I've tried to group the polygons by a field that is common for a number of buildings and apply a single image for the entire group. Clipping the image for the respective group was easy, but i can't apply that image to the roofs polygon. The main problem is that the geometry of shape containing the group of buildings is not recognized by the ApperanceAdder transformer. If anybody had this problem please help me solve it. I can't find neither the types of geometry that can be inputed via SURFACE port in ApparenceAdder transformer, because i could try
