How to automate parcel numbering

Kindly i need your help , i have a tool in map info that make auto numbering sequentially by clicking in feature  when i press on the feature the value in the record will increase or decrease by a value which i decide, i have to do it manually.  Is it FME capable to do same thing like mapinfo but in automated process. Any advice.   Thank You

Nested Custom Transformers

Kia-ora all, I am trying to use FME to implement a pseudo regression analysis. I have a workbench that performs a core process that comes up with 1 output value to tell me how well various parameters are corellated to a known result. This depends on a bunch of parameters (8 in all), and I need to run through testing each possible combination of parameters (256), turning them on and off, to find the best combination. Now I can create this scenario quite well with nested custom transformers, with each one just setting a parameter to 0 moving to the next nest level, then setting to 1 etc. Last level of nests is the bit where the core processing actually happens. This effectively loops through all 256 possibiities, without technically looping in FME. But I am discovering that this is probably not the most efficient way to do it, as each extra nest adds a load of time to actually working in workbench, as presumably it always has to think of how anything I do affects any nests undern

Deleting records prior to data load

Hello guys:  I am looking for a way to delete several records from some tables that are "children" of a spatial feature class (SDE), prior to this layer to be refreshed.  The layer in question has two "child" tables, so the truncate option on FME does not work, as Oracle return an error regarding foreign key and child records found.  What I am looking for is for a little process that performs deletions in those two tables prior for the data to be loaded in the spatial layer.  I have been using a SQL Executor and linking the data to be loaded to the "Initiator" parameter of the SQLExecutor. Obviously, in this case the SQLExecutor is called as many times as the number of records that exist in the data source used to refresh the spatial layer, colliding and returning an exception that the "object is locked" (because is trying to delete the table every single time a feature is read).  If I leave the SQL Executor as a "standalone" transforme

Workbench fails to run on Linux Server

Hi, I adopted the example of a Catalog and Repository from: http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/Samples_and_Demos/Integration-example-for-OGC-CSW-Data-Catalog-And-Repository-with-FME-Server to build a workbench that reads in files, guesses the format, gets, the bounds and dataset names and writes this metadata to an XML-Template and copies the original files to a definied directory. Works fine on my Computer and on our (windows-based) test server but fails to run on the Linux based Server of our partners.  In order to identify the error, I have created a workbench that just copies the files. This runs well on the Linux server - so it isn't a permission problem. But as soon as I add the XML-templater the workbench will stop with an error on the Linux-based FME Server. Here is what the log says:   2013-03-09 22:48:52|   0.7|  0.0|INFORM|FME API version of module 'XMLTemplaterFactory' matches current internal version (3.7 20121025) 2013-03-09 22:48:52|   0.7|  0.0|WARN  |XMLTemplater(XMLTem

CityGML v2.0.0 writer

Hi, another CityGML question! is there a possibility to write CityGML 2.0.0 already? I'm trying to model the buildings at LoD0, as lod0FootPrint, but this citygml_lod_name is not valid! "The 'lod20FootPrint' citygml_lod_name trait is invalid for 'Building' features, the geometry will be ignored, valid values are {lod1MultiSurface, lod1Solid, lod1TerrainIntersection, lod2MultiCurve, lod2MultiSurface, lod2Solid, lod2TerrainIntersection, lod3MultiCurve, lod3MultiSurface, lod3Solid, lod3TerrainIntersection, lod4MultiCurve, lod4MultiSurface, lod4Solid, lod4TerrainIntersection}." Can I add this possibility manually, or should I wait for a new (updated) cityGMLwriter? (next question I will ask, will be concerning the modelling of tunnels and bridges ;))  with kind regards, Ine De Cubber

Tagging all features with an attribute

Hi,  Me again. I want to use the date and time the workspace is run as the output file name.  At the moment, I am using a creator, timestamper and featuremerger to add the datetime attribute, then using fanout dataset on the datetime.  This seems a bit of a clumsy way of doing it, as the featuremerger is slow when processing lots of features.  Can anyone think of a better way? Really I want to tag all features with the same value. I could do this by creating a published parameter, but cant think how to populate it with date/time.  Thanks,  Owen

Most used transformer?

Hello everyone, Im new to FME and the number of transformer is huge.  I would like to know if theres a list of most used transformers around, so I can start learning them first.  I did the workbook example and was able to learn how to use several transformer.  I will have to deal with spatial data alot.  Thanks

Published parameter choices

Hello,  Is it possible to only prompt for a published parameter choice depending on the input of another?  An example would be, only ask for an input parameter if a particular format was chosen.  Owen

Copy attributevalue

I have 2 shapefiles (points). How can i copy the attributevalue from shape 1 to shape 2 if the points have the same geometry. Example if point A from shape 1 and point B from shape 2 have the same X,Y and i want to copy an attributevalue from point B point A

Importing data from fme to smallworld

Hi, I am importing the shapefile from fme to smallworld,  In my shape file i have 169 records but only 10 records are importing. In this process i am getting the error  ::  Error :Primitive a polygon.all_intersections failed status 1376267(0,21,11) Too many intersections  How can i resolve this problem please help me and suggest me the solution as early as possible. Thanks in advance.

Extruding a Circle

I need to extrude a cicle feature to a given depth but the extrude transformer does not appear to work on an ellipse feature. Is there another way to tackle extruding this feature using FME?

Nested folders and fanout with KML

Hi !  Is there a way I can get my fanout result nested in a subdirectory in a KML/KMZ file ? Should be quite simple, but I just can't make it work.  I have a MapInfo table with schools which I would like to separate in type of schools and by region. Type of schools, language and regions are held in columns in the MI table.  Here is a sample of what I'm trying to achieve :  Schools (document name) - Elementary (1st order subdirectory) - English (2nd order subdir) - Region 1 (3nd order subdir - that's where my fanout should be) - Region 2 - ... - French (2nd order subdir)  - Region 1 (3nd order subdir - that's where my fanout should be) - Region 2 - ...  Secondary - English (2nd order subdir) - Region 1 (3nd order subdir - that's where my fanout should be) - Region 2 - ... - French (2nd order subdir) - Region 1 (3nd order subdir - that's where my fanout should be)  - Region 2  - ... Global Temporary Table that Contains ST_GEOMETRY

Good evening.  I have created the below global temporary table on our development schema, and within the FME workbench, I am trying to create an ARCSde reader that will use this table.     CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE myglobal(   IGEOM              ST_GEOMETRY,   HU100                   NUMBER,   POP100                  NUMBER,   POPPEP                  NUMBER ) ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS;  When I attempt to create the reader, I receive the below error message:   An error occurred while attempting to open the table, feature class or relationship class 'myglobal'. The error number from ArcObjects is: '-2147155648'. The error message from ArcObjects is: {Abstract Data Types not supported [myglobal][STATE_ID = 24]}    I tried creating the table with the ST_GEOMETRY column and then creating a reader to access the table within the FME workbench and there were no issues.  Is there something special I need to do to work with ST_GEOMETRY?  I'm encountering a lot of issues us

Change "My documents\\FME" default path directory folder (move to other location)

Hello and sorry if the question has already been asked and resolved, I may not have find the right keywords to find it...    Due to quota on the users's folders "My Documents" (because network stored), we need to change the default path "FME" when installing FME DESKTOP 2013, in order to avoid creating the empty folders which will fill themselves later : - %UserProfile%\\documents\\FME\\CoordinateSyste... - %UserProfile%\\documents\\FME\\Csmap Tansform.... - %UserProfile%\\documents\\FME\\Formats - %UserProfile%\\documents\\FME\\Templates - %UserProfile%\\documents\\FME\\Themes - %UserProfile%\\documents\\FME\\Transform...       I found tips - to change the temp folder (%FME_TMP%), - to change the workspace folder (%FME_MF_DIR%, and options) - to add some ressource folders (%FME_SHARED_RESOURCE_DIR%)    but nothing to change the location of the default main folder "FME"...    Do you think that possible ?    thank you in adv

FME 32-bit vs 64-bit

Hi, I'm doing some test between FME 32-bit on a 32-bit machine and FME 64-bit on a 64-bit machine. Do you know if there is difference between transformer from 32-bit to 64-bit? or transformer are all the same between 32 and 64? Thanks!

Orient and angle ellipse feature in 3D space

I am trying to create ellipse features that are perpendicular to our drill hole trace (line feature). I have the centroid x, y, and z coordinates, the azimuth and dip data for each ellipse.  I've only gotten to the point of creating the ellipsoid at the correct location but cannot seem to orient or rotate them accordingly.  Does anyone have any advice?  Thanks in advance.

ArcSDE Reader, Published Parameters and the WHERE Clause

Good afternoon.   I need to pass in as a published parameter the WHERE clause to the ArcSDE Geodatabase reader.  I have created a published parameter named SQL and when creating the ArcSDE Geodatabase reader I attempt to use the parameter in this manner:  WHERE Clause: $(SQL)  However, attempting to do so causes the below error: Undefined macro `SQL' dereferenced in file `C:\\DOCUME~1\\rolan002\\LOCALS~1\\Temp\\FME_1362421243497_6256' Program Terminating Is it possible in FME to use a published parameter with the ArcSDE Geodatabase reader?  Also, is it possible to pass in the SELECT and FROM clauses to the reader, too?  (I would need to do this because my statements are coming from a web page and are highly dynamic; if I can't do this, I could live with just passing in the WHERE clause and having a slew of workspaces to handle the possible user inputs from the form).  Thanks much.  Joe

Replacing point-features with an Autodesk 3DS-file

Hello again,  anyone know a quick solution for displaying an Autodesk 3DS-model of a tree for each point in an ESRI-point-shape? I will eventually merge it with a DEM an Orthophoto and 3D-buildings and write a 3d-PDF.  Thanks for your considerations Patrick

Rotator Unexpected Results

I have created a workspace that reads a georeferenced autocad drawing and writes to sql server.  As part of my workspace I include a Rotator that alters the orientation of all drawing features for page layout purposes.  The resulting coordinates are not important as long as they fall within the coordinate system and therefore remain valid for Geoserver's gridset.  I chose the center of the drawing as the X,Y axis around which to perform the rotation.  When I view the result of the workspace, I have to zoom way, way in in order to find the rotated drawing features. Why is the rotator changing the drawing scale?

Read coordinates from Microstation V8 file

I have a set of microsation v8 files.  The files have a coordinate system attached to them.  When I use FME to read in and output file to a different format (such as shape files), the readouts now show that everything has been shrunk to within fractions of a seconds of the origins of the file, instead of being in their true geographic location.  Is there anyway to get FME to correctly read the coordinates so my output data is in the correct location?

Writing decent SOSI-files, with polygins?

I have a set of roads, where I have made the areas for road cover, and coded it with road-spesific metadata.  So far so good - I can deal with manipulation.  But I cannot properly write it without getting a metric ton of duplicate lines.  I have run the data trough a topologybuilder before exportting, but to no avail.   I used a different SOSI writer before (and guess I am forced to learn some of this stuff all over again) but want to cut some corners by asking: Does anyone have experience in writing to a SOSI-file that include polygons/areas?

Iterating a workspace over feature types

I have recently had occasion to need to iterate my workspaces; that is, to run them multiple times on varying inputs.  When I need to do this on a group of files, I can pretty easily write a shell script to launch the workspace with a different input and output dataset for each of the input files.  However, I am now trying to extend this method to iterate over the feature types (in this case, Microstation .dgn levels) within a single file.  I can't seem to figure out a way to implement this, though.  I need to publish a parameter that controls which level is processed.  However, I can't seem to do that.  I can't create a reader for a single feature type and publish the parameter that picks which one (it is greyed out), and I can't read the whole file and filter it, because I can't seem to link the actual filter variables to a published parameter.  There is probably a way to do this, probably not even using shell scripts, but I can't figure out what it is.  Any i
