Hi David,    Thanks for ur reply , i need to match Attributes in both readers i have only one common field Source_ID  with that i have used feature merger as well as spatial filter but i was unable to get the result, for eg i have around 30000 data in old reader & 17000 in new so i need to figure out the Added New Features , Modify Changed features & Retain old features .  thanks Nish

How to split polygons by polylines mantaining polygons attributes?

Hello I'm trying to convert dxf files to postgis tables. In my dxf files polygons are stored into layers, they are lines but I can correctly convert them to polygons. There are many polygons (lines) layers distinguishing different kind of building (ex civil, industry, ecc). Each polygon is the area of adiacent/touching structures. These touching stuctures (let's say an industry shed and industry attached buildings) can have different height (different roofs). Each "roof sector" is set by a division polyline, there is a dxf polyline layer which contains all division polylines. So each of my polygon must be split in different polygons by division polylines, mantaining the code of the polygon splitted.. I'm getting crazy with this. Can anyone suggest me a way to solve it? Note new ShortestPathFinder may erase coordinate system

Hi,    This is not a question but an information. FME2013 ShortestPathFinder has become quite easier-to-use than the previous version. But features from PATH port lost coordinate system in my environment - FME2013 Build 13261 WIN32 and Windows Xp SP3 32-bit. Test definition not working since Version 2013

  I have the above test defined within a test filter used in a custom transformer. It used to work as long as I used FME 2012 Server. Best Postgis version for Fme 2013 sp1

Does anyone know the latest, most stable postgre postgis version tested with fme server 2013 sp1 for windows 32 bit?  Or even just a recommendation?   I suspect it is postgre 9.1 with postgre 2.0.x on stackbulder  but i wanted to confirm as we are configuring a new dev server.    Thanks, Reed

Problem when reprojecting Circular Polygons from UTM83-11 to LL83 (Polygon geomtery is flattened)

Hello FMEers,  I have run into a problem when trying to translate and reproject a file based circular buffer polygon feature class from UTM83-11 to LL83.  Background - i have a workbench that takes project based circular buffer polygon feature class and translates it (ie. changes some attributes, add's some attribute values based on user paramaters) and then reprojects the polygon to LL83 to push into a central TQA geodatabase.  Problem - Once the reprojection is finished the circular polygons appear to be flattened into and oval shape. Is there a way to correct this so that the polygons maintain there geometric shape? Or is there no way around this when projecting to a geographic coordinate system. It is important for the polygon to maintain its shape because it is a buffer.  Thanks Evan

Default insertion scale units [ACAD]

Is there anyway to set the default insertion for autocad writes? Its falls under the advanced parameters that you can only set after adding the writer, not on the add writer dialogue where you can 'save to my defaults'.

Writing to KML with ExtendedData

Hi,  I am new to FME, and am in the process of creating a workbench (in FME Desktop 2013) that joins an ArcSDE Feature Class to an Oracle Table, and writes the output to KML.  I was fairly successful, but am having difficulties in writing arbitary/additional XML data using <ExtendedData>.  See this link for info about KML Extended Data (scroll to the bottom for the arbitary XML part) https://developers.google.com/kml/documentation/extendeddata   I would like to include the following in the KML:  ExtendedData using xmlns:pdif="http://www....." pdif:Agency pdif.Status pdif.StartDate pdif.EndDate Values for these fields will come from the joined data.  I am not sure how to do this, and would appreciate any help/input.  The ExtendedData required are in addition to some other fields such as Name, Description, Geometry, etc.  Thanks for your time and consideration.  Regards,  Sendhil

FME Server public URL ?

After much confusion we have a public 2013 fme server!:  https://fmeserver.ncd.noaa.gov/fmeserver/login/end  It looks like in 2013 version the admin interface and the public interface have been combined? Wha's the public url for workbench so users dont have to login?

Add sequence number to unknown count attribute split list

I have a DBF file that has a list of ID's, seperated by a comma, in a single field.  I also have a field that gives me a count of the number of IDs.  I need to add an attribute that gives each exploded InterimID (see example below) their sequence in the list.  I can split that list, explode it to get each ID and I thought about using an AttributeValueMapper with the _List(0) number, but how do I add a value as a sequence attribute to each exploded ID when the count could be anything?  Am I on the wrongtrack?  Example: Line_ID     StartID     InterimID             NoInterimID     EndID 1234          789          234,543,756               3                 8976   Is this a clear enough example?

NullAttributeRemover out-of-memory errors

Greetings,  I’ve been trying to use the NullAttributeRemover transformer (from the FME Store) to loop through a dataset with a large number of both fields and records.  It relies on Python to do the heavy lifting and gives me a Python out-of-memory error after processing about 120,000 records, less than 10% of what I need to process.  I tried to throw in some garbage collection and deleting variables and lists but to no avail.  Thanks in advance, Alan

When is Python Script parameter executed?

I have a reader, a tester and an attributefilewriter. I have defined a python script private parameter to connect to a database and perform a set of db transactions. The python script is reading all the feature types from the reader and performing some operation. I can see that the python script is executed at the end of the translation after the attributefilewriter writes the data. Is this the normal behavior? When is the python script executed? Is it before or after the translation I have checked that the python script parameter is executed only once and it is not being executed for each incoming feature. Also please clarify if this is the case.

Parameter-based reader format for FME Sever

Hi FMErs.    I have workbench on FME sever where I want to have either dwg or shp as the input file.  I have set up a paramer called clipper_reader_formats which is choice based (with alias).  In the configuration I have imported the two formats and then linked this parameter to the Reader Input Formats.  In FME server I now have options visible that let me select the appropriate reader.  However, I am having trouble with the actual Source dataset field:  If I have it as: \\\\glofme02\\data\\Tasks\\Clip_By_Polygons\\Reader\\Clippers\\*.* it doesn't work  It does work if I put in: \\\\glofme02\\data\\Tasks\\Clip_By_Polygons\\Reader\\Clippers\\*.shp but this only works for shp files obviously.  I'd like the workbench to pick up the relevant files, but only for the formats specified or selected.  I'm not sure what I need to put in this field.  Thanks.

multi-part annotation DGN to ESRI geodatabase

Hi  Trying to convert some DGN multi-part text nodes into ESRI geodatabase annotation using FME2012  Build 12258  Currently I have the setting Advanced>Split multi test  set to No and the file is going through a Geometry Filter - String Concatenator- TextAdder sequence.  But, I get the error : "Invalid geometry type received for an annotation feature. Please split multi-part annotations using the SPLIT_MULTI_PART_ANNOS keyword on the reader to 'yes', or switch to classic geometry mode before attempting to write them to a Geodatabase"  How do I solve this to enable a multi-part annotation to be written to the geodatabase, and then also set the leading/line separation, please?  Thanks Tim

Returning duplicates

Any simple ways of using FME to return all duplicates? The duplicate remover passes the 1st instance of a duplicate to the unique port but I would like a list of all records where the attribute isn't unique in the table.

Converting x,y points in Oracle nonspatial

I have a non-spatial Oracle table that has points with x,y coordinates. Some of the points are in NAD83 UTM11F, while others are in NAD83 State Plane Nevada East Foot. I want to keep the State Plane x,y but also convert those same points to x,y in NAD83 UTM11F and add to my existing non-spatial Oracle table. Can this be done successfully with FME?

Raster size

Hi, I have a problem with outputed raster size and i am trying to find best solution for it on behalf of quality and size. I tried to play with compression, but it does not help as expected (it helps but I need less size of file). Of course, played also with interpolation methods at the same time. I found transformer RasterResampler, but do not understand how it differs from compression using featureType parameters. Is that the same thing actually? Kind regards,

Monitoring progress of a Spawned FME command Line workspace

I am spawning the execution of an FME workspace from (running FME.exe from .NET System.Diagnositcs.START() ) works fine and I can catch the errors and the completion.  Now the issue is that this is acutally a long running job (I am using WebMapTiler to create about 5K - 25K PNG map tiles). It can take up to 10 minutes to run.  I would like to provide status messages to the spawning .NET program (let's caller it spawner.exe) and the workspace that it spawns MakeTiles.fmw. I am using FME Desktop 2013 (Budget will not handle FME server, since we would need hundreds of engines. Besides it is overkill for what the sponsor wants).  I want messages of the format: "Created 456 of 5,674 tiles" "Estimated completion in 5.32 minutes"  I can think of three methods, but I need more information on how to do this (or which one is the best).  1. Polling the log file I can have spawner.exe do a 2-5 (sec.) repeating read/parse of the FME log file. I see the log does provide a har

Problem with aggragation of features at the same position

Hi folks,   I’m trying to store in a geodatabase all points from a layer that shares the exact same location. Does upgrading from FME SP4 to FME 2013 require a reboot?

Hello,    I am very interested in upgrading my development  and production web servers to FME 2013 due to an issue I am having when trying to convert AutoCAD .DWG files into Adobe Geospatial Files.     The error I received from the FME 2012 SP4 log when using Universal Viewer is as followed: AutoCAD Reader: Unknown or unsupported version of AutoCAD file 'AC1027'. Most recent supported version is 'AC1024', which is also known as 'Release2010'    I am assuming that the .DWG was created with a version of AutoCAD that FME 2012 SP4 can not handle; however, I am hoping FME 2013 can.  The big thing is that I am hoping to not have a production server outage.    If someone can help me out, I'd appreciate it!  Thanks in advance!

Creating Geometry corresponding input database (schema)

Hi Community!  I hope someone could help me or give me a hint.  I have a script which transforms a database (ORACLE8I) to SDF3 (FDO). It is a simple script since the input data is configured as "Single Merged Feature Type" and the output data as "Dynamic Schema" (so the properties are dynamic corresponding to the incoming features). The result is a "copy" of the database in an SDF3, each table of the database is one Feature Type within the SDF3.  My wish is to have the empty tables of the database, too. I already know that it won't be possible to have empty Feature Types / Tables in the SDF3. So, I would like to create some dummy features, for each database-table one dummy feature. So that there is at least one feature for every table. Is there a way to solve that issue?  I need the SDF3 for a WebGIS. The stylization should be fix. The SDF3 is then updated weekly. It could happen that a table will be filled. To avoid checking it I would like to have at

Inconsistent results when batch running

We have an FME workbench with over 50 transformers that does a CAD to GIS ETL of rooms/polygons.  When I run each CAD file individually, I get the correct results but when I do a batch run (using the "prompt and run" method) with either an entire folder or adding files individually, I get varying results. For example, I have 5 CAD files for a building in one folder (one file for each floor in the building).  When I run the files individually, I get 1242 polygons which is the correct number.  When I do a batch run as described above, I get varying number of polygons.  The number varies each time it is run so if I batch run ten times, I get ten different number of polygons (i've gotten 1078, 1140, 1025, 1149, etc.).  Any input on what could be causing this/how to fix it?  Thank you
