Is there a way to pass geojson simply as string parameter in the Rest API and not as file or URL?

I am developing a leaflet-based web app. I would like to pass the geojson drawn by a user in leaflet through the FME rest API to my workspace in FME server. The workspace contains a geojson reader, topologycalculator and geojson writer. But so far, the geojson reader accepts only a file or URL. Is it possible to send it along with URL as a parameter without the need to create a file. Something likeURL Example :http://desktop-f25rpfv:8080/fmerest/v3/transformations/submit/GeneralizationPredict/networkcalculator.fmw?data = {geojson object}

Is it possible to look for layer names in a DWG based on a wildcard search?

Hey folks, I am brand new to FME script writing. I have for example, a DWG with sewer, water and electrical lines. The layer names are usually all the same except with unique numbers. eg. HET-32434-WATor HET-23422-WAT-SERor HET-232345-ELECetc I am trying to output each of the categories into their own shape files so I can simply point my script to a dwg and run it. I have no problem doing this manually by adding the DWG into my workspace where it asks me what layers to load into the workspace and I can point those to an attribute creator and output a shapefile. That works fine, I am just trying to figure out how I can have it look in a DWG drawing I specify for the layer names like %WAT% to output all my waterlines into a shapefile. Hopefully I made sense here. Thanks

Is this possible to extract the content of a zip file and explore / sort it's content using FME ?

Hello, To automate some of my tasks using FME, I'm currently trying to make FME download some .7z files and extract their content (composed of subfolders, txt files, pdf and shp). I managed to make FME download the archive and store it into a temporary folder just as I wanted but know I want to make FME extract the content of the archive so I can then sort it's content (I want to go inside the subfolders and only extract shp files, then work on them). I've already tried to use some transformers like "ZipExtractor" or "Unzipper" but they don't seem to make what I'd like... If someone know a way to extract and sort zipfile's content using FME please help me ! Regards,Andy METAYER

Why am I missing one record from the output of a Dynamic Shapefile Writer?

I have the need to utilise a dynamic writer for coordinate conversion of a user uploaded file.The schema will be unknown therefore the need to be dynamic.I am using FME (20201027 - Build 20787)I have used a writer transformer and have set the schema to Dynamic and the schema is set as "Schema From Schema Feature". I am wondering if this has an impact on the first feature being used to dimension the dataset and is not written to the table. However this would be unusual because I have used these writer transformers before with more success. The noted difference I can surmise would be that the schema and features have been split up after the reader and I have used the schema to determine the coordinate system of the incoming dataset features to check that it conforms to the eventual conversion, then the features and schema are brought back together using a Joiner transformer.This works for other formats (CSV and TAB) with which I have used the same logical design.The cached rec

How to convert esri shapefile to multipatch

Is there a possibility to convert an esri shapefile (geometry: polygon) to esri shapefile (geometry: multipatch) ?If I try this directly Reader Esri shapefile --> Write Esri shapefile (geometry: Multipatch) I have no geometry only the attributes. Does anyone know how to convert to multipatch?

I'm trying to connect to a non Amazon hosted S3 Service. Is that possible using the S3Downloader Transformer

Thinking other cloud providers provide S3 compatible storage. In this specific case we have an on prem S3 Storage device. I'd like to be able to pull the data from a bucket on that device. With most other tools I can override the hosts that the s3 protocol is trying to connect to. It doesn't look like that's the case for the fme s3 downloader, or am I missing something.

How can i automate the deletion of a folder???

I have a workspace which goes off to the www to download a file for processing further along the workbench. Once the task has completed how can i automate deleting all contents of the specified folder. I am aware of directory watch to do something when a folder is modified or deleted, but i just want to delete the contents.....

Decode JSON-response to Excel

I have a lot of JSON-responses that wraps an base64-encoded excelfile (response.json). If I extract the data-part and try to decode it using BinaryDecoder (base64 to hex I guess). And then decode to ASCII, I get only a few chars that makes no sense. If I use an online-service (https://www.base64decode.org/) and add the data-part of the JSON-file (JSON response -.....) I get a perfect excel-file. I can't seem to figure out the part that the online-service performs and the part I can't make FME do. Any help is appreciated.

Clip pointcloud when reading

Does anyone know if it is possible to clip a point cloud to a boundary when reading into a workspace? Often I have the need to only work with part of a point cloud file and my full files are frequently up to 10GB (in las format), though usually smaller. I'm also reading up to 100 similarly sized files at once Basically, I would like to read only the section of a point cloud that's in a boundary to save on time/computing power/memory/etc. If this isn't possible would I be able to thin instead when I read to load less data? I'd like to avoid having to use an external program to clip/thin first if at all possible. I already do this

I am using WFS reader. As data is fairly large and our firewall breaks the download process , I am trying to setup WFS Output Format as SHAPE-ZIP. But I can't work out how to get the zipped shapefile into the next step.

I have tried to add feature reader after the WFS reader, it did not work. I then tried to use python caller to unzip the shapefile first. But it looks like the zipped shapefile gets deleted after wfs reader finishes. Has anyone successfully used SHAPE-ZIP as WFS reader output format? how do you get that data into the next step?

How can I "fan out" unknown attributes in a workflow?

Let's say I have data with an attribute "A" which is an integer. I want to process all incoming features with the same attribute the same way (example: check for overlapping geometries within that group of features). But I do not know beforehand what that number will be. How do I do that in FME? Looking for something like AttributeFilter, but with unknown attributes.I suspect the "group-by" option can do this for some tools, but I'm not sure how to apply it for this problem.

Why is there no FME desktop 2021 training available online?

Hello everyone,I am probably posting in the wrong forum section. If that is the case, I am sorry for that. I was wondering one thing. Normally, there is a FME Desktop training available for every year on the following link: https://www.safe.com/training/recorded/. But for some reason there is no FME desktop 2021 available on this link. Is this only for 2021 the case or does it mean that FME desktop trainings will not be made available anymore online from now on?

Variable parameters for each monthly automation run

I am trying to set up an FME Server Automation, which runs a model every first day of the month. I bump into 2 issues: 1) To set up the schedule trigger, i can not choose "every first day of the month". Apperently the monthly option only lets you choose a montly run from the day it is today (in this case every first monday of the month). How to go about? 2) I want to let the input parameters change for each monthly run. In this case the model does a calculation from a start date until an end date, and the start date needs to be the first day of the previous month and the end date the first day of the month it runs. How can I make these input parameters a variable? All suggestions welcome!

Reccomended approach to create points from XY coords a variety of projections

I have a set of tabluar data with attributes (X, Y, EPSG). Where the ESPG can be any valid coordinate system. My goal is to create a set of points in a common coordinate system. I understand I could use a TestFilter for each EPSG I'm expecting then create points, but the workbench will fail if the data contains an EPSG code I didn't expect. What is the best approach to create points in a single coordinate system without hard-coding the workbench for a set of expected coordinate systems? Thanks
