I need to take hundreds of thousands of connected 3D faces in DWG files and write them to separate IFC files, where each IFC file contains a single surface made up of the multiple 3D faces in each DWG.I have a working solution to accomplish this without merging the surfaces but it is very resource heavy and creates large IFC files, about 10x as large as the DWGs. Using SurfaceModeller accomplishes what I want, however the resulting TINsurface is extrapolated along the entire circumference of the combined features which creates geometry that doesn’t exist in my source data. How can I merge the surfaces without changing them?My workspace: 

Hi there!I get tons of these messages from some workspaces created with FME 2020 (in Norway) and now  migrated to FME 2024: The Startup Python Script changed the current FME process locale from 'Norwegian Bokmål_Norway.utf8' to 'C' and FME has restored it back to 'Norwegian Bokmål_Norway.utf8'. It is undefined behavior to change locale and doing so may cause unexpected errors. Hi everyone,I have a geometry problem in FME and I’m not sure about the best workflow.In the image below, the red point belongs to a feature that is connected to a black point (the black point is the reference).What I need to do is: Take the line highlighted in green. Starting from the black point, find a position 10 cm along the line. Move (or recreate) the red point exactly at that location — meaning: the new point must lie on the line, and must be 10 cm away from the black point. I know the relationship between the red point and the black point from an ID attribute, but my problem is:How do I calculate this “point on line at 10 cm distance” inside FME?  

With the new spatial definition option in the FeatureWriter, it appears that Attribute Definition cannot be reverted to Automatic after first setting the Spatial Definition? In my case the format is set to PostGIS. Is this expected behavior? Am currently running FME Form 2025.1.1.0, Build 25623.

Hi Folks,For reading and writing ArcGIS Online feature services we are transitioning to the newer Esri ArcGIS Feature Service format in FME Flow 2024.2 from the soon to be deprecated Esri ArcGIS Online (AGOL) Feature Service (at least according to this article)My problem is that now the reader seems to read dates as Epoch time in milliseconds! Obviously this can be worked around but it is quite painful to fix up the many workspaces we have which used the older reader and read dates as YYYYMMDD etc. especially when writing back to AGOL where the dates have to be back in  YYYYMMDD.Any thoughts?  

I have a field with city names and state names in this format:Oklahoma City OKOakland CADallas TXForth Worth TXAugusta ME  I want to do the following:Extract the City name into one field and the state abbreviation into another field. The only consistent pattern in the data is the state abbreviation always comes after the last space in the string. I think I need to create a RegEx expression to do be able to do this. Can someone help me with how do this? 

Hello everyone,I am trying to create a FME Flow workspace which can be triggered via webhook and want to pass the result back to the initiating application for the user to download. The plan is more or less like this: In a webmap application, the user can create a bounding box. In the background the FME Flow workspace is triggered which then sends some HTTP-Requests to an OGC API, gets an xml response and parses that response into a more user friendly GeoPackage. That GeoPackage is then provided to the user via download.  Now that process already works partway. I managed to trigger the workspace via webhook and create the GeoPackage according to the parameters provided in the webhook message/body but I am struggling on how to now pass on the created file to the user/back to the webmap.The data is created within the shared_resources folders where I can access it but I cant seem to find any way akin to the data download or data streaming options that would work using webhooks. Any help? 

I use several XMLXQueryExtractors in my workspace, each with queries similar to the example below. Sometimes a query returns no results, which causes the transformer to generate a warning. This leads to a lot of unnecessary log entries and clutters the log.I’ve tried checking whether the query returns a result before processing it, but the check still sometimes evaluates to “no result.”Does anyone know how to prevent these warnings? I'm attempting to use PointCloudSurfaceBuilder in FME 2024 to build surfaces from a classified LAS point cloud (3D, ~3.6 million points, CSRS.UTM-11N), as part of a workflow to generate pit-free canopy height model (CHM) slices.My goal is to use the Search Radius parameter to control triangle edge length and prevent long connections across canopy gaps. However, I’m consistently running into the following issues:  Surface output is sparse or almost empty, even when using the full unfiltered point cloud (no slicing or thinning). Changing Search Radius from 0.45 to 1.5 to 10 meters does not resolve the issue — only a few tiny triangles are ever generated. Processing time exceeds 30 minutes per tile. SurfaceModeller OR RasterDEMGenerator works quickly and gives a full raster, but lacks control over triangle size (i.e., cannot limit interpolation distance). I’m working with FME Flow 2025 and I’ve built a Flow App that allows users to run a workspace by clicking a “Run” button.My concern is about system overload: if a user (maliciously or accidentally) clicks the “Run” button hundreds or thousands of times, this could flood the job queue and potentially saturate the single engine I have available.I’ve looked into Job Queues and Job Routing Rules, but they only let me set priorities and routing conditions (repository). I understand that jobs can be routed to different engines using queues, but that’s not my goal. My goal is to limit the number of jobs submitted by users, not to distribute them across multiple engines.What I’m trying to achieve is: Prevent users from creating an infinite queue of jobs. Ideally, enforce a limit per user (e.g., max 5 jobs active or queued). Any ideas?

Using FME Form 2025.1.1.0, I have some 30.000 features that have an attribute containing a polygon in Well-Known Text form. Hello, I have a polygon dataset and I am trying to find the polygons that are within 200m of another polygon. I am trying to do this using the NeighborFinder in candidate only mode with the “Number of Neighbors to Find” = 1 and “Max Distance” = unset and then using a tester to select the features where _distance is less than 200.  I am getting a lot of features out of the “unmatchedcanidate” port though. I would have though with number of features to find = 1 and an unset max distance all candidates would be matched and given a distance to their nearest neighbor? am I missing something?

In a workspace processing AutoCAD data, I have recently replaced a bunch of transformers with an InlineQuerier, and downstream of it is an AttributeFilter, filtering on the autocad_entity attribute. Because of this, I found that the InlineQuerier is dropping this attribute, regardless of whether it’s exposed when entering.I don’t need the attribute for my queries, so I had not originally added it to query columns, but after some testing, the only way I can get the attribute to persist on the features exiting is to include it in the query columns, specifically include it in my SELECT statement, and also not include fme_feature_content in the SELECT. With a simplified query:Works - autocad_entity is present on outputNot working - autocad_entity missing in outputI found this post  Geometry Replacer - missing attribute after output | Community where the replies note the GeometryReplacer will remove this attribute (among others) to avoid issues downstream - this makes sense, and I’ve found

Reading Utility Network Data in a FeatureReader with an SDE connection with resolve domains and resolve subtypes ticked.Domains can be applied different on each field dependent on subtype, but it looks like only those fields that are set to domains on the Unknown subtype are exposed on the reader. Subtypes that have domain fields applied to other fields, have these attributes resolved but they remain unexposed. Is this a known issue?

Hello FME Community,I’ve encountered an issue in FME Flow and would appreciate your input.We have an automation webhook that receives messages from another system and then triggers a workspace. The source system is a building management system used by our real estate department. It sends a message whenever a new building is added or an existing building is updated, and this works perfectly.However, the problem occurs when a building is deleted. The delete message contains data only in the header and nothing in the body. As a result, FME Flow returns a 400 Bad Request error with the following output: {"message": "JSON Parse Error: Unable to read message body"}.The error goes away if I add {} in the body in Postman and then send the message to Flow.I’ve spoken with the administrator of the building management system about the possibility of including {} in the body, but unfortunately, that’s not an option. Question:Is there a way to configure FME Flow to accept a webhook with an empty bo

so i have this polygon and i can see the min extents and max extents in the record information window. i know that i can get the coordinates and calculate the length and width of the polygons, but i’m interested to know if the min and max entents in the geometry portion of the Record Information can be obtained directly?

Hi, I updated a workspace from FME 2020 to FME 2025, and I have an error in 2025 that I haven’t in 2020, with the same input data.On the Excel writer, I get an error on a specific string regarding the validation as UTF-8.ERROR : XLSXW writer: The encoded string is not a valid UTF-8 string: 'S\x00u\x00r\x00 \x00c\x00h\x00a…….'Any idea why and how I can check the strings before the writer so it doesn’t stop the workspace with an error ?

When upgrading from one version of FME to the next, I can upgrade some upgradeable transformers, and I can also upgrade the readers and writers to the latest version. But what about the readers that are called by the FeatureReader (and writers by FeatureWriter)?We just upgraded from 2024.1 to 2025.1, and I upgraded the FeatureReader transformer reading a geodatabase. Does upgrading the transformer, upgrade the GDB reader functionality? Or does it automatically call the latest GDB reader? Or does it stick with the old?
