Normally I use FeatureReader to import my datasets. This time I am dealing with a 4.5 GB GML dataset. What are the best settings to improve reading speed for my FeatureReader? Just like a general approach to use, reading GML file is just an example. I also other formats like .gdb, xml, json etc.I try to use the SpatialFilter when possible which makes the reading already more targetted. Hence, its switched this time also using my study area as Initiator.  

I would like to create a Flow app where the user can upload an Excel file for further processing. But I need some help on how to validate it:How do I best make sure that the uploaded file really is an Excel file? How do I validate that the first row contains attribute names and that the first attribute follows a certain name standard (for instance, “Street_Name”)? How do I automatically create attributes for the remainder of the columns? (Some uploaded Excel files might only have “Street_Name”, but other may have columns like “Speed_Limit” or “One_Way” or whatever attribute the user want to keep in the processing.)  

Hi All,I am trying to migrate Dimensions from AutoCAD to ESRI. But while doing so, i get an error "An error occurred while attempting to set the 'DimensionShape' property on the 'IDimensionFeature' interface for the dimension feature class 'PD_ServiceDim100'. The error number from ArcObjects is: '-2147220936'. The error message from ArcObjects is: {The coordinates or measures are out of bounds.}". I have assigned the coordinate system in dwg. I have tried by normally migrating the Dimension as well as re-projecting the same, but am getting the same error. To test, whether the coordinates are correct or not i placed a point feature in the same and was successfully able to migrate (without reprojecting) it to a point feature class in GDB. Not sure, whether any attribute is creating a problem for Dimensions. Any ideas ?

Hi everyone, I'm facing an issue in my workflow: when I process two shapefiles with the same name, the Feature Reader (in Generic mode) interprets them as a single file. This causes an error in my Join. Is there a way to handle this so both shapefiles are read separately?

Hello,I've encountered an issue with how color attributes are read by the different IFC readers.The IFC reader (deprecated) reads a color value as the diffuse color, but the newer IFC_API reader reads the exact same value as the ambient color.Consequently, when using a writer like the CityGML writer, the diffuse color information is missing, which results in incorrect materials being created in the output file.Let me show you with a simple IFC example.When viewed with BIMVision: The color appears correctly as expected. When read with the IFC reader (deprecated):The geometry has the diffuse color, which is correct. When read with the IFC_API reader:The geometry has the ambient color instead of diffuse. What is the recommended way to handle this? Do I need to wait for the next version for a fix?As a temporary workaround, would it be possible to change the ambient color to diffuse color? Is anyone else encountering  vertices that are not displaying when Mark Coordinates is turned on in the Data Inspector? The coordinates are in the feature record, and display when I select them. Currently using FME 2025.1The features I’ve noticed this in have been donuts, and it’s the inner ring that is not appearing.

i’m not even sure how to title this - i have a workspace that looks like this: in general, the process is looking at input user parameters from an upstream workspace via FME server automation, the first step is the SQL executor to see if the current date is a holiday, if so, then that dates gets flagged as “Holiday Exception - YES” otherwise i want it to continue to process to the attribute creater that appends some numbers and makes some features from user parameters there is then a series of filters to route the email different places depending on time,day and holiday status, then ultimately they end up at one of the FME automation writers. the SQL exe looks at a table of holiday dates and then uses a tester to see if the current date matches a holiday: the problem i’m having is that if i use a separate SQL reader to check for the holiday, then when holiday = YES i get 2 features that are processed through the filtering when there should only be one. Hi all,I have two CSV files (A and B) that I've included using CSV readers, and I need to join them using a feature joiner on a specific column. CSV A contains numbers in all rows, whereas CSV B has numerous <Null> cells in the column. When I run the feature joiner it fails. I already tried:Changing both attribute types to number I included attribute managers before each CSV to include letters with the numbers of each CSV file to force matching as textDoes anyone have any suggestions? Many thanks.  

Hi,I’m struggling with reading JSON as a flat table, which I could use in GIS.I have the following JSON: I enabled option “Flatten Nested JSON Values into Attributes” but that produced one row with many columns. In some other post someone proposed a query json["collection"][*], but that also didn’t work.What options should I use to produce a flat table with JSON attributes as column names?

Setting up writer by default adds attribute: fme: fill-opacity="0.1" to each feature. Is there a simple way to add  fill-opacity="0.1"to each feature instead ?  UPDATE: As per a comment by @chrisatsafe, I am interested in setting style per feature in this scenario to obtain this transparency effect you see below. The thing is, 'fill-opacity' has to be set to the same value 0.1 for all features within dataset.  Thank you,Aleksei

I want to transform a geotiff to an ecw while removing the nodata. The geotiff has just one band (band 0: Gray8). I do not have a clipper, so I think cannot use option 2 or 3 mentioned here, but only the first: use a rasterbandnodatasetter.So I used a rasterbandnodatasetter to set 0 as nodata, but when writing to the ECW this is not retained and still a black border is shown around the georeferenced image.What should I do to remove it definitely?

I have a point dataset representing the locations of streetlights. I want to replace each point with a small line drawing that symbolizes a streetlight. This symbol is stored as a set of line geometries and can stay line geometry.I suspect I may not be using the correct approach, but here’s what I’ve tried so far:I used a GeometryExtractor to extract the line geometry of the symbol, and a GeometryReplacer to apply that geometry to each point. This almost works — however, instead of placing the symbol at the location of each point, the points are being moved to the location of the symbol. As a result, I end up with over 4000 symbols stacked on top of each other at the original symbol location.I’ve included an image of my workspace to illustrate the issue. 

I have a building footprint layer that I am using an oriented bounding box transformer (blue line) and trying to keep the result as close as possible to the original polygon (black line) but for some reason the bounding box is getting squeezed out of shape.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the bounding box is not aligning better?I am using it to try and automate the georeferencing of a CAD drawing and using the AffineWarper with lines that come from the corners of the bounding box. I am using the long side angle in the bounding box to rotate the CAD drawing, which in this example is still correct but the length of the long side is incorrect which puts out the affine points and scale calculation.  This is a case where the footprint is a basic rectangle but there are many cases where the footprint is an irregular shape.      

 I have an Excel spreadsheet that serves as a data dictionary. After reading a shapefile in FME Workbench, is it possible to use this spreadsheet to dynamically define the data type of each field in the shapefile?

Hello everybody,I hope this is a the right place for a FME Realize question as this is about mobile apps (or is there a Realize subforum I missed?) otherwise please don’t hesitate to move this thread. I am just starting out with FME Realize and I noticed some weird behaviour and was wondering if this is only because of GPS position fluctuations or because of something else.I placed spheres at these two points:When I place one via rotating/moving and lock the model the other one is quite a bit offset. I doubt it is because of my data, as it is measured by a trusted surveyor.  Correctly placed sphere and line.When I now walk over to the point where the other sphere is located it looks like this:Green circle showing where it should be, red where it isWeirdly when I now go back to the first sphere it is also offset:  I tried it with several coordinate systems and which anchor/georef.anchor on and off, but it is never correct. I'm new to FME and I have an issue with published parameters in a CustomTransformer.I created a CustomTransformer name "TeamsConnector" which need to use the published parameters "Message" in a pythoncaller:   Now in my main flow I use twice my custom transformer with different published parameters value. "Message 1" as a value for the first use of my transformer:    "Message 2" as a value for the second use of my transformer:  My issue is when I run the flow instead of having "Message 1" and "Message 2" as expected, I have twice "Message 1": 

Hi,I’m having a issue making a TIN properly in FME. Basically FME is interpolating points/vertexes that don’t actually exist in the original data. What I want to do is make a TIN that considers only the vertexes of the features I give to it (point/lines and breaklines). I do not want FME to make up data that does not exist.Does anyone know a way that I can do this?For example in this example this is one break line. It should only have two TIN vertices (the ends). No triangles should be created from any interpolated points However, when I look at the TIN for the same spot it has created 6 vertices I am using FME workbench/form 2023. I’ve been trying different settings for the SurfaceModeller and the TIN generator
