Hi, I would like to merge several kml into one, but in keeping my hierarchical structure, that means Event Type > Countries > Year > Month > Link      Then I would like to handle it in GoogleEarth but it would be too heavy. Hello All,  How do I input multiple raster files (in multiple directories) using a file-geodatabase or a CSV table?  I have JP2 files in multiple locations. I have the outline geo-databse file that shows the paths & the file name. Using this table, I would like to convert these images to geoTIFF format in bulk.  Any exapmles would eb fine too.  Thanks

Hi,  I am looking for a way to replace some (205 values) attribute values from a polygon feature class containing 45000 values. The new attribut values (the 205) are stored in another (point) feature class and the location is the only conformity. With all the other attributes it is not possible to determine the responding point to the polygon.  Kind Regards,  Markus

Hi,  I am trying to update a geometry of a feature stored in oracle spatial. I've set the writer mode to UPDATE also I've mentioned the key columns (combination of four colums is unque).  The workbench executes without giving any error, the log shows that it has written fatures but the geometry column does not change.  Please suggest if I am missing anything in this.  Regards IMRAN

Essentially what i need to do is for the user to upload a file to FME Sever using a custom web form and then send the upload location of the file to the published paramter of the job containing the workspace I need execute. When i try to run the job it just never seems to ever seems to start executing the workflow.    From what i can tell i am following the correct stepsbut it seems as if the parameter is never getting passed. Also i think part of the issue is, i dont actually need to read the contents of the file. I just need to know its name and location so that i can upload it to the web. I have this process working on the work bench in terms of uploading the file correctly using a published parameter...so it must be something going wrong between the web form, FME Server, and the job. Any help would greatly be appreciated.    Here is what i used as my main reference: 

Hi,  I have an excel file (.xls) containing the following columns: objectid, adresses, x, y  where x= x coordinate and y= y coordinate.  I would to create a new table in Oracle with the following columns: objectid, adresses, geom  where geom is a SDO_GEOMETRY type. The geometry objects are created from the values in the x and y columns from the excel file.  How is it possible to do that with FME?  Thank you,   Fabienne

I am writing to a ArcSDE Geodatabase with many Features. I want to make sure that only the existing features gets written - for instance:  MyRoadsPoint MyHousePoint MyParkArea  So if I create a feature_type called MyParkPoint and try to write this - it will fail because the MyParkPoint does not exist in this database.  Is there a setting on the writer I have not seen?  One solution might be to add the existing allowed FeatureTypes - however the allowed FeatureTypes and the Output database will chang between every run.

I have some shapefiles which FME reads and then writes the data to PostGIS. I have added a Spatialite writer to the workspace as well as I have some users that need file based access to the data.  The data loads into PostGIS fine and I can see the Norwegian characters æ, ø and å fine.  But the data loads into Spatialite with these characters replaced.  The data is writen to PostGIS and spatialite in the same workspace, so it goes through the same transformers etc.  Can anyone suggest how I can fix this?

However I can not see any documentation on it. I "assume" it will only write Valid Features to the database (ie - features that have all Attributes) and that it will FAIL and ROLL BACK once it meets a feature which misses an Attribute in the feature (that is not null)

Perform topology and attribute validations (eg. Hello List  I need to be able to change the setting to create default spatial columns from YES to NO in existing workbenches writing to PostGIS.  From this question (https://safe.secure.force.com/apex/AnswersQuestionDetail?id=906a0000000ciBiAAI) and Mark's answer:  Another setting that may help, when you add a new writer look at the properties dialog and there is a setting called "Create Generic Spatial Columns". As long as that is checked the table should be a generic one and not need a geometry type set.  I have been able to get my (new) workbenches to work the way I want them.  However, I have a number of old workbenches with the option checked.  When I connect my QGIS to PostGIS I see duplicate entries in the layer picker - one for the table with correct geometry and one for the table with unknown geometry

Hello.  I am having some trouble with writing dates from a Mapinfo (MID/MIF) file format to an ssf. I have tried creating a field and then populating it with the specifed date but it does not seem to be writing.  Any ideas of how i can make this work would be much better than having no date, or entering dates for the 2000 points I have.  Cheers, Emma.

Hi All, While importing ESRI SDE (SDE3) Annotation feature to AutoCAD drawing with object data. We are getting Annotation features as polygons.  Cloud you please provide suitable solution, so we can export attribute data of SDE to AutoCAD annotations as TEXT/MTEXT instead of polygons.   regards Govardhan

This is a simple question but it's Monday morning so would appreciate help.  I have a list of features, and one attrbute is between 6-8 characters long.  I want to rename the attribute with the first 6 characters of their existing attribute (so drop the last two characters where they occur), and remove any features whose attributes are duplicateed due to the new name.  eg.  i want to make;  AB1234AB to AB1234 and only leave 1 record of AB1234 in my output.  i'm trying in BulkAttributeRenamer but think i may be over complicating it  cheers  

Hello,  I am going to be upgrading to FME 2013 today, and after doing so, I was wondering if anyone could lend a hand in telling me if FME can provide what I'm looking to do.  1. We stored all data in a MapInfo .TAB file (flat files) for each customer 2. Customers will give us new data on a weekly basis; however, the data being given includes everything from the first submission, and then perhaps some additions that are legitmate.  In doing step 2, the customer is actually creating duplicate objects stacked on top of the first upload.  My question is can FME run a process to find and eliminate all those duplicate objects so that only one remains (since the others are useless).  Thanks for any insight in advance. Nick

Trying to write 3D solids to Sketchup. I have managed to do it with buildings - however I struggle on writing a surface to Sketchup.  I get the INFORM:SketchUp Writer: SketchUp face creation failed. Attempt to wrap face in SketchUp Group.  Anyone know how to prevent this and successfully create a terrain model to use in Sketchup?

Hy,  I have a point cloud. I want to have a regular grid. But I don't want to create points where I have no points. So Is it possible to create a rasterDEM with points clouds without interpolation?  thanks in  advance nicolas

I have a custom FME toolset that a client would like to run in ArcGIS. If they were to have the FME Data Interoperability extension purchased/enabled is there a way to upload/convert/run a full-suite FME workbench in the ArcGIS/FME Data Interoperability Extension?     If so, how would I proceed? I work in both FME and ArcGIS but have not worked with both in this way before. Any help with this would be appreciated.        Matthew Brucker

Hello,  maybe my question has an simple answer, but I can't find a way to solve this problem. Is there any possibility to read out the data types of an input-file?  For example: A shape-file with three attributes: Name --> char, Adress --> char, Number --> int. I need the data types (char, char, int) in a FME-List or something like that. Finally I want to write them in a simple Excel-Sheet.  I'm using FME 2011.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks, Hans000

Morning All  i currently need to extract OS data by polygon extents from a fgdb. Setting the polygon is not a problem, and clipping the data to this polygon works. The problem is that there are 6 readers, each reading in different OS features e.g. Area, Line, Boundary etc. The line readers reads in 64000000 features which crashes my FME and also takes an age.  I know what i'm doing works as i can extract from the smaller feature readers, but is there a different transformer i should be using rather than clipper? or before the clipper to avoid reading all the data into the workspace? The reading of all the data seems to be the problem as it's reading in over 100,000,000 OS features.  any help of guidance is greatly appreciated.  Chris

I am using the dwg writer to create blocks based on xls input file. Everything is working fine except that I that I am unable to set the block names in the output. All block names appear as autocad_block_name : test_ACAD_1_FMEBLOCKn where n is 1 to as many blocks created.  How can I enforce the block to be named one of my input field (blockname) ?  Thanks

Hi, I'm tryng to do some fancy colour manipulation when using the Excel writer. I'm already using a template XLS to define the basic structure of my output worksheet and that's working fine.  I'm also defining custom cell (column) formatting on the feature type user attribute definitions, which allows me to specify custom number/date/text format strings and a custom font colour. That's working fine.  What I would like to do is set a custom background colour for a particular row.  I know that FME is capable of setting the background colour because if I choose the "Simple" Format Type for the attribute column properties I can specify the font / font color / fill color for a column and it works. However, if I choose the "Custom" Format Type then I have to enter in an Excel compliant format string which onlly offers font colour and not fill colour.  I've tried setting the fme_fill_col

Hi,  Is there a setting somewhere that dictates the maximum file size that can be uploaded by the file upload service on FME server 2013?  We are finding that anything larger than 27mb will cause an error, even though we have changed the tomcat configuration to allow a maximum file size of 100mb to be posted.  Thanks, Andy
