Hi Trying to convert some DGN multi-part text nodes into ESRI geodatabase annotation using FME2012 Build 12258 Currently I have the setting Advanced>Split multi test set to No and the file is going through a Geometry Filter - String Concatenator- TextAdder sequence. But, I get the error : "Invalid geometry type received for an annotation feature. Please split multi-part annotations using the SPLIT_MULTI_PART_ANNOS keyword on the reader to 'yes', or switch to classic geometry mode before attempting to write them to a Geodatabase" How do I solve this to enable a multi-part annotation to be written to the geodatabase, and then also set the leading/line separation, please? Hi I'm having an issue using a User Paramater inside the END SQL with the Oracle Writer. I can use it in the WHERE clause on the Reader no problem but using the same format on the END SQL is causing me some problem. I'm sure it is something simple that I've missed! Reader WHERE: USERUPDATED = '$(P_USERNAME)' Writer END SQL: DELETE FROM DB_UPDATED WHERE USERUPDATED = '$(P_USERNAME)' It literally tries to find the string $(P_USERNAME) Here is the contrived example (yes I would normally do this in SQL!): http://db.tt/kWQgcu3j

Hello, I am very interested in upgrading my development and production web servers to FME 2013 due to an issue I am having when trying to convert AutoCAD .DWG files into Adobe Geospatial Files. The error I received from the FME 2012 SP4 log when using Universal Viewer is as followed: AutoCAD Reader: Unknown or unsupported version of AutoCAD file 'AC1027'. Most recent supported version is 'AC1024', which is also known as 'Release2010' I am assuming that the .DWG was created with a version of AutoCAD that FME 2012 SP4 can not handle; however, I am hoping FME 2013 can. The big thing is that I am hoping to not have a production server outage. If someone can help me out, I'd appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

Hello all, I am confronted with a task in which i have 100's of LAS files in which i need to find minimum distances from part of the data to another. For example, in one LAS file i have trees, structures, powerlines water pipes etc (standard urban environment) is there a way i can find out the minimum distance between say the powerline and the nearest tree? OR adversely have a limit to say no trees within 5m of powerline and 10m water pipes and have FME spit out the a result set of trees/structures too close to the powerlines/water pipes etc? any help would be appreciated. cheers

I am trying to use wildcards/regular expressions to identify multiple FFS files to read through one FFS reader in the FME workbench. If I use something like "C:\\SomeDir\\*83.ffs", the FFS reader reads all files that end in 83.ffs in the SomeDir directory. I can even use "C:\\SomeDir\\*8[345].ffs" to read all files that end in 83.ffs, 84.ffs, or 85.ffs. Now I want to read all files that end in 11.ffs or 83.ffs. When I try "C:\\SomeDir\\*(11|83).ffs", I get an error message "Invalid FFS dataset directory 'C:\\SomeDir\\*(11|83).ffs'". I have also tried a comma, semi-colon, or space separated list of filenames to no avail. Is this possible or do I need to create two FFS readers? Any suggestions would be appreciated! I'm using FME Desktop 2013 SP1. Steve

Hello, I have serveral different directories within one directory that have TAB files (of point, line, and polygon geometry type) that I would like to merge and convert to SHP by there unique name. For example: \\\\one\\test.TAB \\\\one\\test2.TAB \\\\one\\test3.TAB \\\\two\\test.TAB \\\\two\\test2.TAB \\\\two\\test3.TAB What I want is for the output directory is, all the same name files to be merged and converfted to ESRI SHP, e.g. \\\\export\\test.SHP \\\\export\\test2.SHP \\\\export\\test3.SHP I defined my TAB reader to the TAB directory/sub directory as Single Merged Feature Type. For my SHP writer I defined my output directory, however I'm not sure where to go from here since it is asking for a particular geometry type and the input TAB files are of different geometry type being point, line, and polygon. I guessing there is some automated way of using one reader and one writer instead of creating seperate readers and writers for each unique input dataset? Thank you

I am using ArcSDEQuerier with only an attribute query to fetch geometry for features. The where clause uses an attribute value populated by an earlier SQLCreator transformer: "POLYGON_NUMBER = @Value(POLYGON_NUMBER)". I have noticed that the query running in Oracle uses a hard-coded value rather than a bind variable. This adversely affects performance. Is there any reason why the ArcSDEQuerier does not use bind variables? Also is there way to alter the SDE connection CURSOR_SHARING session parameter before running the translation so that I can force the use of bind variables? I am using FME 2012 desktop, the Oracle version is 10g and ArcSDE version is 9.3.

Hi, does anyone know if the MODULE_PATH parameter has any impact for java plugins? You'll need a db file with 3 entries in /pluginsinfo: PLUGIN_NAME|MODULE_PATH|MODULE_TYPE For all java examples the MODULE_PATH is not set and tests with different setting show no effect at all. FME seems simply to add all jar files in /plugins to classpath. The reason why i am asking: We have a plugin which requires a lot of 3rd party jar files. If we put all files just into /plugins it just works fine. But we would like to put all our files in a subdirectory, e.g. /plugins/myFac/*.jar so we do not clutter the directory. But this seems not to work, even i we manipulate the system wide CLASSPATH before starting FME. Any suggestions/hints?

Hi, I work on a workbench which transform shapefile to CityGml. This step is ok. After, I would like to publish it to FME Server and add to a schedule with a recurrence to 5 sec for example. The second step to publish the workbench to FME Server is ok but the schedule every 5 sec is not ok, I obtain a error message "no log files exists" and the sechule fails. I discover the log files seems to be check in this path C:\\Program Files\\FMEServer\\DefaultResults while FME Server searchs it in this path C:\\Program Files\\FMEServer\\Logs\\scheduler\\tasks. I believe the solution is to change the default recording path of the log file but I didn't find where I can change it. Could you help me ? Thank you in advance. Aglae.

I am reading Microstation V7 DGN files (Framme graphics files) in my workspace. I have noticed that a large percentage of the files are receiving a "Design File Truncated - assuming end-of-file" warning message in the error log. I have looked at one of the design files using Bentleys EDG and there were some bad eleements listed. I repaired the DGN file using EDG and ran the repaired DGN file though my workspace. I'm still receiving the "Design File Truncated - assuming end-of-file" warning message in the error log. What exactly is this message trying to tell me?

Can you use the WebMapTiler transformer with Mosaic Datasets as the input? I want to create map tiles that I can use for a Google maps mash up. I have about 200 scanned mapsheets from the 1920's that I have loaded into a mosaic dataset with modified footprints to clip the maps. Building a single mosaic of all the sheets would be much too large to process. If the transformer won't work, any suggestions on which one might be better? -Colin

How can I configure FME Server 2013 to use Exchange Server for notifications? FME Server 2010 supported this and I can't seem to find any documentation on how to do so in FME Server 2013.

Hi all, I have some question concerning SDE 2 CAD (dwg) translation. I work with DWGStyler transformers. So far it works, but if I open the DWG file the hachure-layer lies over the polyline- and text-layers. Is there a possibility to manage/determine the draworder of the layers? Can I adjust sth. in the DWGStyler or in the advanced parameters? I would appreciate some tips and help =) Thanks a lot. Heike

FME'rs, I'm doing some geometry checks on an ESRI file geodatabase. The workspace worked fine until I got to a particularly large dataset. Now it runs for a long while and then quits with a popup window saying fme.exe has stopped. I don't know if the subject line, which comes from the log file has anything to do with it but I wondered if anyone might be able to explain what it means. Thanks, Alan

I am trying to publish a workbench to FME server that contains a esri shape reader with a merged feature type. My input shapes files do not have standard names. In addition, there could be just one or several input shape files. When running the workbench from Desktop, the Feature Types to read parameter will allow me to select all the shapefiles listed in my target directory. However, when I publish the fme server, there doesn't seem to be anyway to populate this parameter and as a result all my input shapes are ignored. Is there anyway I can force the workbench to always read all possible input shapefiles?

Hi there, I am trying to convert DXF to TAB, with dxf layer names converted to attributes of the single MapInfo table. In another words, I need MapInfo table with attributes telling me what layer each feature belongs to. What are my possible solutions? Thanks N

Dear community I'm trying to build a workflow that convert an autocad dxf to a geotiff, 1 dxf, 1 tiff, I don't want the dxf (dataset) to be splitted into layers (data type). I was able to create it and it works except for the output tiff name, that I want to be the same as dxf name in input. The workspace is this: http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/7752/fmedxftotiff.png The dxf reader has a fme_basename that is the name, without extension, of the input dxf. This parameter goes trough each transformer but, when it comes to the imagerasterizer it changes. Imagerasterizer exposes its own fme_basename, that is equal to the imagerasterizer name (i.e imagerasterizer). How can I tell the tiff writer to use the fme_basename coming from the reader (i.e. dxf name) to save the tif? Am I clear? Thank you Pietro

Hello, From what I am able to tell, FME is a very powerful spatial data extraction tool. But I have some specific use cases I am trying to decide if FME is a software that can be of use to me for extracting features out of Lidar data. A perfect example of my needs would be to use FME on lidar data taken of, say, along a street where we need to extract the edge of curb lines. Another example would be to detect changes over time, say i have a lidar dataset of a hillside taken in at two different times throughout the year. Would one be able to use FME to detect changes over time between the two datasets? Any help would be greatly appreciated on the matter! Thank you all for reading my post.

Hi. I am using a SpatialFilter transformer to join two Oracle tables, and routing the result set to an Inspector and to a KML Writer. The Inspector is correctly showing all wanted attributes from both tables (I am using AttributeKeepers to filter to only wanted attributes). The KML Writer, however, is only showing the attributes for the parent table. In the KML Writer, under Dynamic Properties, I am selecting both source schemas, so I'm unsure why the Writer is only showing the attributes from the parent schema. Is there a way I can make the KML Writer show the attributes from both schemas (preferably without using an external .csv as I don't know whether I will have access to external files within a production mode). Good morning. I am trying to join two Oracle tables, TableA and TableB, to output a KML file that contains attributes from both tables. I am able to do this presently by using a temporary table created within Oracle and then simply reading this table within FME and then using the KML writer to output the KML. On production, I will not be allowed to use temporary tables, so I will need to handle the join within FME. In Oracle, my join condition to create the temporary table is very simple: a.state = b.state. How would I accomplish this join between TableA and TableB and keep the attributes a.col1, a.col2, a.col3, b.col1 in my output KML? I have tried various methods, but all without success. I am always only able, when I view the KML, to see attributes a.col1, a.col2, a.col3 or b.col1--never all in the same KML. Thanks very much. JR

I have an existing workspace that creates a pdf and inserts a logo by reading a png file and then using a rastergeoreferencer to place that on the page (using page units). I now want to expand this workspace to create multiple pdfs using the fanout on the dataset. However using the fanout means the raster ends up in a pdf file of it's own due to not having the relevant attribute set. I cannot just set the attribute as it needs to go in each pdf output. Any bright ideas?

Hi, got an unexpected problem when re-building my FME 2013 workspace for FME 2012. DWG reader fails in the rebuilt workspace. FME 2012 Workbench error message: AutoCAD Reader: An error occurred for dataset 'AYAA-GE42C_2 dwg.dwg', in function AutoCAD2004Reader::open: 'Not that kind of class' FME 2013 reads the file without problem.
