Question

Replacing point-features with an Autodesk 3DS-file

Hello again,

anyone know a quick solution for displaying an Autodesk 3DS-model of a tree for each point in an ESRI-point-shape?

I will eventually merge it with a DEM an Orthophoto and 3D-buildings and write a 3d-PDF.

Thanks for your considerations

I've read that you can have 3D Autodesk 'Blocks' so I think you might want to look at creating a block for your tree and then use FME to set each point to use that block from your template file.

There's a bit more info here:

Hello,

I have the same problem: I would like to assign to my ESRI-point-shape a 3DS symbol according to an attribute value, before representing in a pdf3D. Which transformer would be able to do the job?

Thank you for your help.
