Hi Everyone,today I upgraded from FME Flow 2023.1.1.1 to 2024.2 (Express install) all went well and I do have a working environment. But I noticed something. Before the upgrade I made a screenshot of the license information and it said I had Additional Capabilities: After the upgrade (I installed a new fmelic file I received by mail from codes@safe.com ) these are missing: So, does anyone know how to fix this? If these capabilities are called upon in workbenches will they break? 

Hi all, I've got some confusing to clear, and hope to find an answer here. I have 2, completely the same datasets, uploaded to ArcGIS Online. Now, i want to update them. To test it, i took 2 completely identical layers, read them from AGOL and now, it shows differences. Can someone explain me what the problem is? If i only check on attributes, then there is nothing wrong, but if i also check on geometry, there is somewhere a change, and the Changedetector gives updates as output, but it should be unchanged. All the data is 2D, there is no 3D. In the update detection key attributes, i selected all the attributes, but left GlobalID and OBJECTID out of it. same for check attributes. Even more confusing, if i do the same process in a new workbench, with the same sources etc, i get different results. Sometimes it igeve met 900 updated, and somethimes 1322Thanks in advance!

Hi I am doing migration testing from 2023.1.2 and 2024.0.3. It seems to completely fails on 2024.1.I have tested it on 2023.1.2 and 2024.0.3, worked perfect - no issues.It fails on FME Flow and FME Form on the server - but works OK on my local PCon the server - oldeb 2019, clr 2019, are installed, as with .net 4.7, 4.8 andIt is just a simple sql server spatial reader - and a bit of reprojection - it fails on reading the reading the dataCheersRudy

So, our organisation has a maintenance management system for our roads, which now for some reason, no longer works with geometry which has duplicate nodes within the same polyline. I’ve been able to narrow this down to two cases where our road polylines layer violates this rule:Some roads have duplicate consecutive nodes due to mapping mistakes, which I’ve fixed with GeometryValidator. Some roads (such as roundabouts and parking area outlines) have the same start and end node. This is where I’m getting stuck.The potential solution that I’m looking for is something that can determine the polylines with the same start and end point with a small tolerance (0.1m would do the trick) as I could only get GeometryValidator to work as expected with this tolerance, then offset the end node by a small figure (perhaps 0.5m) back toward the penultimate node. This way, the polyline still keeps enough of the line to be usable, but will work with the management system. But, I’m happy to note any other

I am trying to read an ALKIS data file coming as XML file. I have two files, the first one come with version 6.0 and FME opens this file without any problem (xmlns="http://www.adv-online.de/namespaces/adv/gid/6.0"). Hello FME Community,We are currently using the following software versions:FME Desktop: 2021.1.0.0 (20210630 - Build 21607 - WIN64, Python 3.6-3.9) FME Server: 2021.1 (Build 21607 - win64, Python 3.6-3.9) ArcGIS Enterprise: 10.9.1 (Python 3.7.11/2.7.18) ArcGIS Pro: 2.7 (Python 3.7.9)And we did not encounter any compatibility issues with our current setup regarding Python versions (as expected).Now, we have a scheduled plan to upgrade our ArcGIS software to ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3 and ArcGIS Pro 3.1 this year, followed by an upgrade to our FME software next year.Since ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3 uses Python 3.11 and ArcGIS Pro 3.1 uses Python 3.9.16, could anyone please share if you have noticed any concerns or compatibility issues when using FME Desktop and Server 2021.1 with ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3 and ArcGIS Pro 3.1? Do we need to upgrade FME  before ArcGIS, from a technical performance and issues standpoint (please disregard tech support concerns for the purpose of this post)?

I have a harddrive full of data I need to turn into a good database, essentially.I'm starting with converting any shapefiles into feature classes. I know how to convert one shapefile into a feature class, but I'm struggling with multiples that live in multiple areas/folders.I've got two workspaces setup so far.One is a read/write on ALL information in the hardrive. It writes a CSV so I can see what data exists. You can see the PATH in the photo below to see the data this reads.The second is where my reader is set to read all .shp using the following to work through all "\\**\\*.shp" however this obviously does not read the underlying datasets that work together with a ShP to create it (.dbf .prj etc)The write is a Feature dataset and the second is just a GDB set to fanout. None seem to really do the job. Some export just a table, some just two feature classes.I'm not sure if there is more I need to do within the workspace to process Shapefiles. I can't see

I want to be able to use the feature reader transformer for scene layer packages (to combine multiple files) but the format doesn't seem to be supported at the moment. I'm having a hard time determining which version of OGCGEOPACKAGE that FME produces ? It's not in the writer doc, so I'm asking here.And subsequently, what version of SQLite is produced? (newest is 3.39.4 from Sep 29 this year)As far as I can gather, the versions has been fixed since 2020.0? Is this true?In the "gpkg_extensions" table I found a reference to "spec120", which may (or may not) indicate, that the Geopackage version is 1.2.0, a fairly old version (newest is 1.3.1).And the real question is what extensions are the SQLite database born with? Clearly not "foreign _keys".Can one update some template database if one needs a newer version/more extensions?Cheers.

Is there anyone that have tried this approach (only 1 review right now)? And what are the estimated costs for the Azure infrastructure per month for this setup? I understand the costs are higher for more usage etc. However ther have to be a minimum estimated  cost for a “normal” system somehow.   

I have published a workspace to FME Flow. When I run it in FME Flow, I get this error in the log file:  Path Reader: Error opening the PATH Reader on folder '\\\\myservername\\T_DFshared\\FME Workflow\\All Reports to Folder5'. Could not find folder.​I checked and the server where the folder resides can communicate with the server that FME Flow is installed on.  The folder does indeed exist and has the files used in the workspace in it.  The workspace published from FME Form starts with a Directory and Pathnames Reader and runs with no errors in FME Form. ​Could this error be caused by the spaces in the folder names in the UNC path shown above or could something else be causing this error?

Using the same polygon the Generalizer (Douglas, tolerance=0) returns different results depending on the orientation of the polygon.Any explanation?

Hello FME’ers.We recently upgraded our FME Flow and FME Form instances from 2023.1 to 2024.1 (Build 24622). FME Flow is installed as an express installation on single Windows Server 2016 and is configured to use HTTPS and Azure AD. FME Form is also installed on the server and my laptop. When testing the connection from Form to Flow on my laptop everything was fine. I way able to connect and upload/download workbenches. However, I am unable to do the same on the server itself. When connecting as Admin, I get:Login failed (Connection Error) - Unable to connect to FME Flow.When trying to connect was my user I get:Connection Storage: Request to update access token failed. (HTTP Error 'HTTP/1.1 400')I then went to refresh the Azure AD connection and got the following error:Server's certificate does not match the URL.Client does not have access to any certificates from the following issuers:Go Daddy Secure Certificate Authority - G2Go Daddy Root Certificate Authority - G2I am able to get to

It appears the LabelPointReplacer removes the z-value from 3D point features and replaces it with NaN. I’m using FME Form 2024.0.3.0 as our IT-department isn’t fast enough with the updates 😑. Does anyone know if this is fixed in a newer version? Now I 3D-force it with the old z-value.

I installed FME Flow 2024 and configured it to have Version Control on (without the GitHub option). I published a workspace from FME Form. Then, in FME Form, I altered the workspace (added a transformer) and re-published it, replacing the first version.However, when I click History, I get zero results, both at the top-Workspaces level and at the repository level.Anyone have insight to add to this?

I am having a simple workspace; just a reader and writer (see screenshot below).The FeatureReader reads from a Microsoft SQL Server Non-Spatial and the FeatureWriter writes to Microsoft SQL Server Non-Spatial. The datamodel in both databases is the same and in the target database the table already exists.When writing it to the database there are warnings about the field type. For example (see also screenshot below)Microsoft SQL Server Non-Spatial Writer: Attribute `.....' of feature type `.....' has specified type `varchar(1)', but existing database table field has type `varchar(2)'. Information may be lost during conversionIt seems to double all the varchars; and also getting messages about bigint vs numeric. The data is correctly written in target but I want to get rid of all the warnings. I have tried various thing with reading the schema from both the source and the target table. Also tried with 'normal' readers and writers. Hi all, I am experiencing an issue with writing dynamically to SDE for large datasets (i’m unsure of the exact number, but above ~5000 features seems to cause a fail).  My flow reads in a dataset name from an SQL table, matches it to a dataset that has been downloaded as part of a previous flow, checks if it has been updated and if so drops and recreates the Feature Class using a name given in the SQL tables.When running the flow in batch using a Workspace Runner, ~half of my datasets ran successfully, and ~half failed to be updated in the SDE. I have looked into this is some depth and the only pattern I can see is the datasets that are failing are larger. The error message I am getting is below. I have tried using a sampler on the data just before the FeatureWriter and the flow works correctly, which validates my findings. What could be the potential reasoning behind this behaviour? or has anyone else experienced similar? If there are any other suggestions of settings I could change t

We have several FME Server services that runs nightly to update hosted services. This all works well but every month or two the services all fail because they have lost their authentication to AGOL even though there were no account changes. I can re-authenticate the connection and then the services run for a month or two and then they lose their authentication again. Is there a way to set up the authentication so that they do not have to be periodically re-authenticated? Thanks in advance,David

A bit of a subjective question, but what are fast file-based geospatial data formats to read in FME?I have a set of geodatabases (10GB) covering the whole country, and it’s located locally on the C-drive of  the FME Flow server. Users specify a bounding box to extract the data for their area of interest.To make the current setup faster, I have played with indexes and made sure that I’m doing a bounding box intersect on the FeatureReader, etc. But it still takes at least 10-15 minutes to get the output.One other idea that I’m playing with is to use a different format for the source data instead of geodatabase. GeoPackage got a mention somewhere; FlatGeoBuf apparently is fast; and I have heard good stories about GeoParquet. Any other formats I should consider?Has anyone done any comparison on this? Any pitfalls / drawbacks I should be aware of?At the moment I’m looking more at file-based formats, as formats that require additional (database) software would involve IT too much.I will do t

After I finished the installation to 2024.2 (upgrading from 2023.1) I seemed to have the same issue as described in this post: So I followed all the suggestions in the Best answer by laurawatsafe.(I blured out url's and server names in my screenshots for privacy reasons)As described by laurawatsafe I ended up with both localhost and Serverhostname. In the screenshot below you can clearly see that at the moment after I stopped the Engines and was able to remove localhost, there were 0 standard engines assigned to localhost.So at this point I thought my problem was fixed. (I am wondering why this issue is in 2024.2 as it was fixed in 2018/2019. So this bug seems to have reappeared.)But now I have some very strange behavior in the interface:I tried to assign the two engines to my server, but after the delete action of localhost is shows 2/2 engines in use: This gives error: I end up with this:  When I sort on hostname on the Engines tab, there still seems to be a refference to localhost:
