Hi,I have an Excel reader and one column of the Excel files contains merged cells.For an unknown reason, the option "expand merged cells" doesn't work well for some merged cells.For some merged cells, I got all values in the expanded cells and for some others, I got only 2 values for 5 cells that were merged (for example).(I tried to convert the Excel file in XLSX, XLS,.... the problem persists) So, I try to find a solution to fill empty values with previous values from the same column (attribute).I searched with the NullAttributeReplacer transformer or with a NullAttributeMapper but I don't find how to map to the previous value with this way... One other difficulty is that it must work in "cascade": for example the empty value from row 3 must get the value from row 2 and then the empty value from row 4 must get the value from row 3, and so on... Thanks for any help.Christian

I'm having trouble locating a clear answer because of some of the upgrades to the tools that have occured in the 2017 version. PointConnector was superceded by LineBuilder, which works well when I have multiple features with the same value in one field, but sequential values in another field.What I can't figure out is how to create lines from points by specifying certain fields to connect. For example, I have around 30,000 point features in two different point layers (60k total), which need to be connected based on shared values in a shared field.I know I can combine these as Suppliers in the FeatureMerger, join them with a requester, and build lines from points, but the tool seems ambiguous on exactly how this works. In other words, I don't know how the tool knows how I want to build lines.The concept of what I need to do is as follows:VertexCreator A --> Points A (created from A field) --> VertexCreator B --> Points B (created from B field) --> ---> Connect

Hello,I am reading my oracle non spatial database with an SQL query containing couple of dates. When inputting the dates directly in the query, there is no problem and it runs smoothly.I would like to make user parameters from these dates. So I have created published user parameters choosing 'date' as type.I then try to use the parameter in my SQL query (where clause) but I get a type error over and over. I have tried couple of different notations but it doesn't seem to work... This works (without parameters)  AUTO_START_DATE <= TO_DATE('15/12/2019', 'DD/MM/YYYY')Then I tried several variation to use :  $(START_DATE)but I can't seem to find the right syntax. Thank you

Hello,I have data set that I need to join attributes from csv file. I am joining with ID that is combination of letters and number e.g. tk14b.Problem is with letters because i have mix of upper and lower case but tk14b is, for me, same as Tk14B and every other possible mix.Is it possible to set FeatureJoiner to be case insensitive? Or, is there any other way to join my data set with attributes from CSV file? Thank you in advance.

I'm building quite a lot of flows where the amount of input features should always be the same as the amount of output features. During the processing of the data a lot of transformers merge, delete, split, and aggregate the data but in the end it should always result in the same amount of features as i started. I now use an UniqueValueLogger to list all the ID's in between and then compare it and at the end i do a manual check to see if the correct amount of features are written to the writer. But i was wondering if this could be tested with the tester and if it does not match can stop the translation raising an error that the input data is not correctly formatted.

My name is Pelwinderpal Singh and I am currently working for AGI. We currently support the cesium 3d tiles format here in FME. Would appreciate if I could get some help on this issue I am experiencing. Thanks. I opened an esri shapefile using the shapefile reader. I then used attribute creator to create an attribute with a value. I then converted it back to a shapefile using the ESRI writer. When i open the new shapefile, the attribute is still not shown. I tried adding in an extruder after the attribute was created. I extruded vertically and for direction, I put attribute name that I created. I then converted to a shapefile using writer. When i inspected the new shapefile, i could see that the extrusion worked. This means that the attribute was created. My only concern here is how to get the created attribute to be shown?

Hi!I'm in a university environment and we've installed FME in two computer labs. Since there are many computers that needs to be licensed through the licensing assistant (we're using floating licenses) I wonder if there is a way to do this process on several computers simultaneously instead of doing it one by one.Thanks in advance!/Henrik

I am a first time FME user. I want to analyse the closest LiDAR points that are to my point data (pit). I tried using NeighborFinder but I guess it does not like LiDAR data and produces a empty .shp file or .gdb file. I want my .shp or .gdb with the nearest 5 LiDAR points that are averaged to produce a z value for my point vector data (pit data). It will be very kind if someone could help me with what code I would need to produce the required result? PS: plz disregard the aerial image in the background.

I've been struggling with this for quite some time now, but without success...I need to write a pdf-File for each feature of my data, containing only a table with it's attributes (Attribute Name: Attribute Value), no geometry.As suggested here https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/74002/attribute-data-to-pdf.html, I first tried to write excel-Files with this tables, using a featurewriter / fanout (https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/46550/dataset-fanout-for-featurewriter.html)But my problem is, how can I write a table with the names of the attributes on the same lines as their values ? Good morning! My input data is a series of 3D polygons that represent Administrative Units stored in an ESRI Geodatabase.I've been tasked with calculating the area of those polygons. For that i wanted to use the AreaCalculator transformer with Type parameter as "Sloped Area".No problems there. Except the final user of that data wants the area to be calculated using the Simpson's Rule. I had no idea what that was, so I've been looking for info a little bit:https://www.emathzone.com/tutorials/geometry/simpsons-rule.htmlI still don't know how to translate that to FME. Could anyone give me any pointers, please?

Our app, on server 1, calls on a FME fmw file translation, also on server 1, and sends the data back to the user via the app. This was working perfectly up until ? time, I can't be sure exactly when it started as I only got the helpdesk issue routed to me yesterday. I did upgrade our Weblogic server on the same machine (server 1) last weekend but no other changes were made to the Oracle client or Java or anything other than Weblogic specific, but I'm not ruling out that it's not realted.From server1, I can tnsping the database server, withing FME workbence the database connection test successful, running the fmw file from within the workbench connects successfully also, yet via the app I get the infamous ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified.I've played with the tnsnames.ora file modifying various items, setting IP as opposed to machine name, setting service_name as opposed to sid, etc....to no avail. Any ideas?

This is my first question so do tell me if I'm missing anything in the description of the question. I currently have a workspace where part of the functionality includes the merging of 5 columns (two of which are always empty). The data that isn't merged should be preserved for each of the rows that are created or already in existence. Below is an Excel example of what I mean:This is the current situation This is what it needs to become As you can see the data from the first three columns are merged into one but the other three columns (ID, Type and Type 2) remain unchanged and are copied to the new rows. This causes for example the row with ID 500 to split into three rows, all of which contain all attribute information from the original that wasn't merged. I looked for similar questions but the solutions didn't work for me such as the Attribute Exploder, which does not currently have an option to select what you want to explode. The solution given in this question came

Hi,I don't find out how to transpose a part of a simple data table.I read a lot in the documentation and this kb about the AttributePivoter and AttributeTransposer transformers or other tips and tricks (with AttributeExploder and Aggregator) but I don't get to use these solutions with my test case.Here is a (simplified) sample of my input data:And here is what I want as output:As you can see, the switch has to be done between the "type" and "month" attributes but I have to keep the student column.I would really appreciate any help because I'm stuck...Thanks,Christian

 XML fragmenter settings: (identical for v3 and v5). I have trouble getting the v5 of XML fragmenter to work - for some reason, it rejects ANY xml I throw at it. Even examples straight out of www.w3schools.com. The above examle is rejected with XML parser error: unable to open primary document entity '<xml version="1.0" ... The old trusty v3 works fine. In the above example, i used copy-paste from an older workspace I had lying around.Anybody else who has trouble with this?FME(R) 2018.1.0.2 (20180903 - Build 18547 - WIN64) 

I use FME Server 2018. I'd like to send the result of a job to the user that submitted the job. I'd like to retrieve the email from the users list inside fme server because there are synchronized with Active Directory. With the FME_SECURITY_USER I've got the user but there aren't others FME_SERVER variables that contains the email. How I can get this information? Thank you for suggestions.

Hello, I have a street centerline data set which has street width information. I would like to buffer the lines by using GeographicallyBufferer based on the width information (to be more precise sum(div(@Value(SURFACEWID),2),16.4042) is my buffer size). However I can not because the street width attribute has long type. Is there any way to change it so that I could use the value of the attribute and use aritmetics with it. Thanks in advance.

I am trying to simply read a featureservice that I need to make periodic downloads of. This featureservice needs authentication. I can pull a token using part of this example (arcgis-server-feature-service-reader-token-authent) but I cannot seem to figure out how to hold the token as a parameter to feed to "ESRI ArcGIS Server Feature Service" transformer. I have also tried using a FeatureReader (using username/password) but am having issues not seeing the attributes. I do not fully understand using lists (if that is the issue).So, I need some help with either being able to create a token and save as parameter to feed to another transformer or pull attributes from the featureservice using a FeatureReader transformer.If you have any suggestions, I would be very appreciative.

An.Can anyone tell me how to create a measure between such points so that:- the measure for A1 is 0- the measure for A2 is d(A1,A2) i.e. the distance between A1 and A2-the measure for A3 is d(A1,A2) + d(A2,A3)- the measure for A4 is d(A1,A2) + d(A2,A3) + d(A3,A4)and so one?Thanks,
