This should be a dead easy translation, but unfortunately I use FME only one or two times a year, and I’ve been too lazy to take enough time to read the documentation and become more proficient.I have several hundred AutoCAD drawing files that I need to extract data from three feature types:linework on layer R-UTIL-CATV-LINESblocks on layer S-UTIL-CATV-SYM: all I want are the insertion points and the block name at each insertion pointblocks on layer S-UTIL-ELEC-SYM: again, just insertion points and the block nameThe target writer type is Esri shapefile. I can get the geometry of the lines and the block insertion points, but I cannot get the block name no matter what permutations of translation parameter that I try. I have looked through the forum postings, but apparently this is one of those FME 001 translation types that is supposed to be self-evident. I have a layer with several polylines that represents a hiking trail in southern Sweden. I need to segment this trail into equal lengths in one direction along the line, either starting from the north or the south. At one point the trail splits in two and one feature ends in the middle of another, otherwise all features are joined on the start and ending vertices of each other. The sum of lengths of the lines is 85 266.31 m.The layer uses projected geographic coordinate system: SWEREF TM 13 30, which I believe is LatLong @david_rI am trying to use the IterativeSnipper to cut the trail into 4000 m segments. First I tried to aggregate the polylines, since I want the lines to go in one direction, or to have one starting and one ending point. The translation failed because of invalid geometry that time. And I couldn't get the LineCombiner to work either @egomm.And when I use only the IterativeSnipper with the below parameters, I get a result of 27 polylines with most of the features (1

Hi!I'm sorry if the question seems trivial, but I didn't found a turnkey solutionI have two grids and a condition that subsequents flow of an algorithm depends on minimum value of mathematical difference between them. If it is larger than a certain value I must wright both of initial grids to defined place, if it's smaller - than do nothing.Of course, there is no problem to use tester to RasterBandMinMaxExtractor. But on the output port I will get a raster with calculated difference but not the initial rasters. I can use result as a clipper for required rasters, but maybe there is more right and elegant way to branch an algorithm?Thank you!

I am building a custom transformer that returns to the user one to many road characteristics. I have a Choice with Alias (Multiple) User Parameter that allows the user to choose 1 to Many road characteristics. My issue is that attributes from characteristics that they did not choose are showing up in the Output.I’ve tried BulkAttributeRemover with Regex. NullAttributeMapper after the custom transformer to remove the ‘missing’ attributes, but it requires the user to select each attribute to remove. I generated a List in the FeatureMerger that I am using to merge the records back together. When the data comes thru the Output the List looks correct, but when I explode the list, the extra attributes show up.I’m sure there is a more elegant way to remove these extra attributes.Thanks.

I have been developing an FME workflow in version 2017 and have since upgraded it to run in version 2018 but am noticing a vastly slower processing speed when running the DatabaseJoiner transformer in the 2018 version. I can literally count each feature as it gets joined. This used to happen in 5 seconds at the slowest in the 2017 version and in fact I can run the DatabaseJoiner in a workflow identical(data and workflow) to the slow 2018 version and it will run super fast. This may be indicative of a bug in this transformer. Can someone help me find out if this is the case? I used to be able to run this workflow in less than 3 hours but in the 2018 version it takes over 9 hours to finish processing.

Hi everyone,I have created a custom transformer to generate points using lat/lng using the following simple script. It works totally fine. However, it loses all of the attributes coming from my input file. Is there a way to retain it dynamically?

Hello all,I am a newbie to FME and have failed at the first hurdle to convert an .XML file to .csv format.I really want this converted but do not have the time to learn how to use FME (wonderful, though it is) to complete the task.Would anyone like to do this as a simple challenge to their skills? The file is of no commercial value but it is about 115MB in size. I would simply like it converted to an .xlsx or .csv file with a flat structure.(I would use somethimg like www.wetransfer.com to send it to you).Any takers?Thanks one and all !! 

I am pushing data that I have cast as a double number to the JSONTemplater - it goes in as 0.09 once it comes out it gets longer becoming: "prod_index" : 0.09000000000000001This seems like a floating point rounding number issue. Can anyone suggest a way around this.Many Thanks,Oliver 

Hi,I am reading SHP files and writing them out into a file geodatabase, using Dynamic Schema Definition.All the features are being dropped. It seems that one SHP attribute "FAST_TRACK" (Small Integer - 0 for all features) is being read by FME as Boolean value (string: false): WARN |FileGDB Writer: The `Fast_Track' attribute could not be written. The containing feature has been dropped2019-03-19 09:58:31| 1.3| 0.0|WARN |Attribute(string) : `Fast_Track' has value `false' Can you please advise how to force FME not to read the zero value as false? Thanks, Monika

I'm looking to do something that I'm not sure is totally possible, but I'm trying. My goal is to copy a seed MDB file for each unique input attribute value, and rename to that value. I could have upwards of 200 unique names, and there will be one feature enter the PythonCaller per unique attribute. This is where my lackluster Python skills have taken me. The exception I'm getting is 'global name library is not defined'.I have a feeling that even if this did process through as it is, I would only get one mdb copy with the first feature to pass through.

Hello Everyone, I am looking to convert 2D Lines to 3D Features. I am not looking though to add Height value, what I want to do is take a line and based on an attribute value (diameter: 250mm for example) create a 3D cylindrical version of it. Then I will add elevation values using the 3D Forcer, that I am aware of. I have taken a look at 3D Forcer/Interpolator, SurfaceDraper, etc. but I do not believe they do the trick. Could you please point me to a direction? Thank you for your time. Kind regards, George Floros

I am creating some anonymized data for testing purposes and need to create a fake Land Registry Title Number (found in the UK). These are references such as CU556644 or LAN33445. I can generate the random numbers for it but I need to generate random letters in either combination of 2 or 3 letters or both. Has anyone come across a way of doing this?Thanks 

Hello,We are trying to update/insert/delete records within a Enterprise Asset Management system using the software's web service endpoints. We take information from our CAD/GIS environment and need to feed it into the EAM environment using these web services. I understand the records need to be appropriately formatted but I am confused on how to actually "write" these records out the EAM software's endpoints. I have done some web searching with little luck. I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction on how to get a solution like this off the ground.

I am trying to leverage a Choice with Alias (multiple) User Parameter in a custom transformer. When I add the custom transformer to a new/blank workbench and connect it to an data input (CSV), all the attributes also show up for the user to choose from. Am I missing a setting/toggle somewhere? Parameter Setup: What's showing up when custom transformer is added to an empty/new workbench and connected to a CSV input: Why are these attributes from the input showing up in Choice parameter? Hi,Is there a more efficient way of loading a large CityGML dataset, approx. 15GB unzipped (http://www.3dcitydb.net/3dcitydb/fileadmin/mydata/Cesium_NYC_Demo/CityGML/NYC_Buildings_CityGML_20150907.zip) apart from using the standard reader.I was thinking of using this approach (experimental?) but tests using a smaller dataset did not yield any advantage compared to the standard reader.Thanks

Something I encountered recently: When I send multiple features into a FeatureReader, I only get one SchemaFeature. I expected one SchemaFeature per initiator feature.As I needed a SchemaFeature per Initiator, I merged them using a FeatureMerger after the FeatureReader. But I keep wondering if this is how it is supposed to work?Thanks!

When the FeatureReader outputs a SchemaFeature, the attribute handling differs from Features. For example, I use the Prefix Initiatior option a lot, but it does not work for SchemaFeatures.Is this how it should work? Thanks.

Some of my workspaces contain multiple checks before any data is processed and are hooked up to some Terminator transformers. Is there a way to show the custom error message, that is included in the Terminator, in the web gui instead of the default translation failed message?  Although the terminator message is in the log file, I would prefer the message be shown to the end user instead of having to access the log file.  FME Server 2018.1

Hi,I know that FME has WebMapTiler as one of transformer utilities and it's good for creating image tiles in 2d web map applications.However, as 3d web gis is evolving and as there is more possibilities to build nice 3d web gis applications using libraries like CesiumJS and similair, i wonder if there is any plan in near future to enable tiling of 3d datasets using FME. For example, that you have 3d mesh and you want to create quantized-mesh tiles using some FME Transformer ?  I know it's probably not so easy to implement at the moment but I would like to know if it's something that is on TODO list or not?  Thank you and kind regardsIvan

I'm looking at 2019 beta. Is there a way that an S3 block can be seamless when writing to a ESRI file geodatabase, or are multiple steps involved that require creating the FGDB and then zipping it up for transfer. I'm not seeing a way using the S3 connector. Obviously I would rather the most seamless and simplest method...more like a virtual file/folder location parameter using the saved web connection and credentials.
