I've had great and amazing success translating objects into the model space of an Autocad drawing but I've been asked to also setup the paper space. Does FME support creating new paper spaces and inserting the viewports?I have information for where the viewports should point to in model space and the paper space can be easily defined with a block and standard page size so I don't have to get FME to generate any layout information, just insert the relevent objects into the file.

I want to find a way to pull out the first 13 characters in each list element until the list ends (identified by ItemsInList attribute). I currently have this:@Left(@Value(_list_UAIDs{@Value(ItemsInList)}),13)However this only returns the last entry. I want it to return every instance within the list.I wasn't sure if it was that simple of if I could create a looper to resolve this?

Hi there, I am using AGOL writer to insert the data into a feature layer. I noticed that whenever I ran the transformation, it insert the data into a feature layer. I wanted to set AGOL writer in such a way that when I run the transformation, it deletes the existing data and insert the new one. Could anyone guide how to do that? Please note that the data on FME transformation does not have OBJECT_ID attribute.

Hi,    We are writing to a new geodatabase with FME 2013. This geodatabase has already a schema without any records.    Geodatabase Error (-2147220987): The user does not have permission to execute the operation. FileGDB Writer: A feature could not be written.   Has anyone experienced this error before.  It is strange, we are able to write some features but some other give this error.    Thanks,    Jo

Hi,  I have one excel file containing following columns: - feature_type --> defines output file - attribute_name --> defines the attribute name - attribute_data_type --> defines the attribute data type - geometry_type --> defines the output geometry type - order --> defines the attribute order  I now want to create a set of output files based on the feature_type. If the field geometry_type is filled, a shapefile should be created. In all other cases a dbf table. Attributes should be created based on the fields attribute_name and attribute_data_type.  Aim is to have all work done in the input excel file and minimum of manipulations in the workspace. I only want to create empty files that will be filled later by an operator manually.  Any ideas on this? Rob 

I am trying to create a point feature class within a polygon feature where the two line features intersect/touch (photo below)The to and from in each polyline is inconsistent    In some cases, the two lines do not intersect, but will touch if the line is extended (below)  

Hello,I have recently upgraded from version 2016 to newest version 2019. I noticed some strange behavior of 'Save data as' functionality in Data inspector in new version.When I want to make some quick 'one time' procedure to check something and don't want to lose to much time for polishing, I usually just add Inspector and later if needed export the results from inspector to excel... For example, I have 2 txt files, one containing data: 1 2 3 5 7 (each in its own row), and the other containing data 1 3 7 8 9 (again each in its own row). Hi AllI am working on an electric network as input where line segments sometimes join. The end vertices lie on top of each other. I have used the Snapper and LineCombiner to combine lines where only two lines meet. The LineCombiner transformer can however not combine lines where more than two lines meet.It does not really matter what two lines are combined, although it would make sense to join the longest segments. The line segments all have the same attribute values (ie the same voltage and reticulation name). The reason for wanting this is to make the output dataset as small as possible, as there is so much unnecessary duplication with the attributes for small pieces of line being exactly the same.Is there a way to combine two lines where more than two meets?Hope someone can help.

Hi there, Need a suggestion from FME's experts. I have FME transformation that calculates two fields based on the data coming from different sources. Now, I want to use the calculated field along with some other fields from the data and perform normalization on it. I have already written a script in Python (separately) which performs normalization. The Python scripts contains while loop and comparison operators. Is there any way of calling the external Python script from FME? What do you suggest

Hi all,I am specifying the AutoCAD Layer color by a given attribute 'Category' which is being filtered using 'AttributeFilter' transformer and redirected to each DWG Writer to specify the AutoCAD Layer Name and color. All the below DWG Writers are a single DWG Output File. For some reason, when no features are written to some of the above DWG Writer, I still have that AutoCAD Layer Name written as below, even though no features have been past through the attribute filter so I am not even sure why that Layer 1, Layer 100000, etc. is being set.Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks,Ana

I'm attempting to update a ArcGIS Portal feature service using the ArcGIS Portal Feature Service in Dynamic mode and after the workbench finishes the original features remain unchanged. Hallo everyone,to help my coworkers update some eodatabase, I created a FMW workflow that translates the data from an excel file and that automatically updates the datas in the geodatabase. So far all good, the workspace does his job.In the workspace I had to define two readers, reading basically the same file (excel spreadsheet) to get first some attributes in the "header part" and the rest of the attributes in the "body part". There is only one writer to the geodatabase.Now, I don't have much experience in programming but I'd like to write an small programm (C++? Python?) that allows my coworkers (who dont use FME at all) to select the Source excel file that will udate the attributes in the geodatabase (possibly using a file browser) and the directly run the fme workspace i created. So they'll only need to open the program, browse to the excel file and the fmw workspace will read it and use it to update the geodatabase.Could you please point me in the

Hi there,I have two tables that I want to merge using feature joiner. I am doing a left join. I want all the rows of the left table to come in the output table. When I ran the program, most of the rows from the left table, however, I found that about 100 records went into the rejected output field. When I investigated I found that the column I used from the left table to join has null values and that goes into the rejected output field. Could anyone guide me on how could I make sure that all records from left table come to the output table? 

Hello guys , iam tired from tryng doing that and i could not get the result that i want .i have many lines and some blocks in the map ,and i want to find neighbour step by step and give each line that i can find new id as temporarly id .when the line touch the block so another lines touched the same block give them new id .so how can i do that tried alot by line divider and neighbout finder but i did not success or by 2 coordinate extractor(tart point and end point ),2 vertex creator also then neighbour finder but i i did not success ,please could u guide me what should ,i need to find the neighbour give new id for the neighbour that u find then continue fom next neighbout to find the next and so on but sometimes map has blocks not only lines.Thanks in aadvance for helping

I was wondering of it is possible to do the same action with fme desktop 2015? In fme desktop 2015 the "attributemanager" is not available, so i as wondering which transformers to use in fme desktop 2015 to make the same actions as with the "attributemanager" in the article!I hope anyone can help me!Peter

Hi, I'm understanding slowly how to use XQuery but I have come across yet another stumbling block. I have an XMLUpdater and I want to replace the contents of the following path with some code:XML Path://group[@id=fme:get-attribute("CODE") @category=fme:get-attribute("CATEGORY")]I'm pretty sure that the above code is not the correct syntax for referencing two variables at once but I can't find any information on how to do this. Hello, I am in dire need of help, as I have been trying to parse an XML file for the last 5 hours. I have looked at the XML tutorial, in addition to many other posts on this forum, but I cannot figure this out. Can anyone help me?  I am interested in getting a Feature for each Task, with all its subelements as attributes.The XML file and fmw workbench are attached. Thank you, and have a great weekend! Edit: You might have to change the path to the XML file in the reader.
