FME Desktop 2020: How to display the result of workbench (graphic and table) stored in esri file geodatabase in the “visual preview”? I couldn’t figure out how to display the result of workbench (map and table) stored in esri file geodatabase in the “visual preview”. This is already doable for tools.

I have an automation where dates are created in workspace 1 and passed to workspace 2. I already had published parameters formatted as dates in workspace 2. However, I can't see an option to use the dates from workspace 1 as keys, I only get a calendar selection. It works fine with strings, is there a way to do it with parameters which are dates?

Hello, I am struggling with reading Excel files into my workbench.  I built my workbench based on an Excel file with this format. When adding the reader I set the 'field names row' at 3, so the names in row 3 are used as column headers in FME.  I want to use my workbench for other files as well. These files have the same format. Only the information from row 4 will be different. So I created two user parameters witin my workbench:- Input File- Output Directory If I open my workbench and run the translation I can fill in the user parameters: When I choose the original file which I used to create the workbench, all goes well. But when I choose another file, I only get missing values:I even made a copy of the original file, so it is exactly the same document with only a different file name. But even then I get missing values.  Can anyone explain to me what I need to change in my settings to overcome this?Has the red indication in the User Parameters window something to do with it?

I'm running into issues with ageing workbenches that are running as workspaces on FME Server. Most of these I did not build, many I've never published, some I've had to republish to make minor configuration changes. But I've not made any effort of somehow bringing them all up to the same "standard". Currently, I'm also still on server/Desktop 2018.I'm familiar with the ability to upgrade readers/writers in place when upgrades are available. But is there any guidance for keeping a clean house with regard to your portfolio of workspaces? I'd like to avoid having various workspaces of different vintage, i.e. created in different versions of FME. But I'm reluctant to just update every reader/writer and republish out of fear I will break too many things.Any guidance, or list of caveats for said approach would be helpful. - THANKS.

I'm trying to extract attributes from the attached json string using a jsonextractor. I thought the jsonquery field would be json["datetime"] but nothing is being returned. Any help is gratefully received. ThanksN  

Hi, I'm using a JSON reader to grab data from an API. It's reading the attributes, but the datetime is formatted like so: 1587896100000 Firstly, what is the format of this? Is it JSON specific? And how can I convert to this to a SQL datetime,. which is where the output is going to be stored? ThanksN

I have multiple shapefiles (total size is 8.4 GB). Those need to be zipped. When using FME's ZipArchiver, compressed file size is 4.43 GB. But when using third party app – 7zip, the result file is ~11% smaller (3.94 GB). My guess woul be that ZipArchiver uses different libararies for compression. Maybe it is possible to use 7zip libraries in ZipArchiver, when compressing files?LZMA compression won't work in this case, because I need to be able to extract archives with built-in Windows extractor.

I have added a user parameter type "Choice with Alias (Multiple)" to my workspace that I ultimately want to be used for exporting selected GIS layer within an area, out to a CAD file. I was able to create the parameter and when I trigger the workspace, it asks me what layers I want to export, which is all great; however, any time I select more than one layer, and try to run the workspace, I get an error as follows:An error occurred while attempting to open the table, feature class or relationship class 'GIS_SDE.RoadArt GIS_SDE.RoadCol GIS_SDE.RoadHwy GIS_SDE.RoadOthr'. The error number from ArcObjects is: '-2147216057'. The error message from ArcObjects is: {Invalid parameter value passed to function}It appears that it's attempting to push all selected layers in as one value/layer. Do I need to somehow add commas somewhere so that I treats each item selected as separate? This seemed to have worked fine in desktop 2019, but I noticed that it broke last week

I was attempting to read a input data list, which along with the dataset path, has some formatted instructions for translation. One of these instructions is the reprojection of attribute values in two columns. I am reading the instructions for the attribute reprojections for the dataset from a value such as this:  I was then reading values into fields, so that I could use them in the csmapattributereprojector as follows:  At this point, FieldNameX has the value of 'Easting', and FieldNameY has the value of 'Northing'. (Just at present, I have hardcoded the source and destination coordiante systems, not attempting to read them from the input, but just choosing them in the input dialog of the csmapattributereprojector).I am using a dynamic schema, so at this point the attribute{1}.name has value of 'Easting' and attribute{2}.name has value of 'Northing'.  My problem is that the csmapattributereprojector does not seem to be reprojecting the values. I have two datasets with 30 columns and after running the changedetector to compare 20 of these columns it states 0 are unchanged, how can I figure out which of these columns is the cause for the datasets not being the same? Would I use featuremerger or is there a simpler solution? to compare the columns to see whats different based on 1 shared unchanged column.

Hi,  I noticed the following behavior.I created two shapefiles for this test : line.shp and surface.shpBoth contain several feature including one with multiparts (multiline and multisurface). When using CoordinateExtractor with mode Specify Coordinate + index=0, I get in the _x and _y attributes the first point of the first part of line/surface.I assumed I would get the same with @XValue() and @YValue() but it is not the case for the multiparts features.For those I get a point far far away from the feature, with integer values for X and Y. Anybody knows why ? Is it a normal behavior ? Tested on FME 2018.1 and 2019.0, see enclosed test workspace on FME 2019.

Hi everyone! I am new to the FME World and I am testing the following scenario:Take a spreadsheet with lots of fields as input of several tables in a Postgres database. This unload should occur once a day.Has anyone expertise on this?Using FME Workbench 2019.1, my approach is to place the xlsx file as a reader. Then, use an attribute manager to remove certain fields and leave only those that are required for a specific table abc. After, I add an Postgres writer to to receive such information.Is this a good approach? How/where do I drive the "insert" to a specific table? How it the scheduler implemented (if possible)?Thanks a lot!

Hello, new to FME here,I have to convert an RVT file to a point cloud file (x, y, z, r, g, b), but I haven't been able to extract color. I know this should be really simple, but I haven't been able to find much of anything on the RevitNativeReader. I saw a couple posts from 2019 that said the format was still in development, but I figure color has to be available somehow. I've been able to chuck the RVT features into a PointCloudCombiner and extract coordinates, but how would I get the color of each point? Do I need to manually map materials to colors? My output file says everything is black, so something must be going wrong.

Hello, I have a dwg file in Reader with existing layers. I would like to know if you know how to match the Dwg file in Writer again. I use ShemaMapper this to have worked, however in output Writer I always have the same layers. Please help me if you know a solution.

Dear all,I'm hoping some of you in confinement have time to help me out in my battle with a major COVID-19 project involving most of our organisation and representations abroad. This was set to be revolutionary for a world where hundreds of emails and a parallel universe of excel files are as "digital" as many feel at home with. Unfortunately, despite moving heaven and earth in a very short time, it looks like failing at the very last step as the standard reporting tool used in our institution seems to have some kind of bug and can't take the heat. Of course this whole issue surfaced at 4.50pm on a Friday...I know FME Server can do the job, I just don't have all the knowledge (or time to hunt for clues) required. Workspace has just ESRI Geodatabase reader and SHAPE file writer (FME 2019 version) as I'm trying to write to a shapefile.In Shapefile writer, few attribute definition names are being shortened(truncated) but retains the same data type(as reader). Tried to rename those shortened attributes(in writer), but still it reverts to shortened version. Thereby causing difference in schema definition between reader and writer.This is the case for all different types of Attribute Definitions - Automatic, Manual, Copy from Reader..I think I've tried possible workarounds, but still same issue. Any thoughts please? Trying to upload .SHP files into SFTP server using scheduler. I've tried FTPCaller and 'Upload to SFTP server' action (in FME 2019.1 Automation) but it doesn't authenticate and throws this error -Ensure correct host key is listed in the known hosts file In Automation, I've uploaded private key in SSH format to resources folder and passed it to 'Path to Hosts file' parameter. It doesn't get authenticated but was able to connect to SFTP server in WinSCP via private key. Not sure if the private key has to be in SSH format or PuTTY format for FME. Firstly can this be done?Also tried in FTPCaller with 'Upload from an Attribute' transfer type, but not sure of the URL value as it only has hostname and username.Please suggest. Thanks in advance!
