Set up BSD on Bit.ly so we can shorten links like this https://docs.safe.com/fme/html/FME_Desktop_Documentation/FME_Workbench/Workbench/custom_transformers_multiple_copies.htm using fme.ly :) https://support.bitly.com/hc/en-us/sections/206657428-Branded-Short-Domain-BSD-
Hi,Running a workspace with full inspection is a great tool, but it comes with a heavy price. If - which is often the case - a huge dataset is among the inputs, the "inspection cache" is swamped with unnecessary data. This makes inspection of even minute datasets generated later in the workflow a tedious and slow task.Would it not be possible to somehow index the cached inspection datasets, so retrieval becomes as fast as the individual dataset size determines, i.e. very fast for small amounts ?The performance is currently just as bad in the 2017 beta as in 2016 release.CheersLars I.
Hi,sometimes it is helpful to know the drawing order of AutoCAD features to make some kind of sorting, espacially when trying to rasterize AutoCAD-data. In AutoCAD the drawing order can be changed and the information is saved in AcDbSortentsTable.Maybe you can create format-attributes for AutoCAD- Reader and Writer to access that information. Thanks,Thomas
I'm missing: Filenames cannot be assigned to the start parameters by Drag & drop.
This would remove all the extra data (in default locations) that get created by the software. On Windows there are lots of places where FME seems to store files, and manually finding these is time consuming.
While working on a workbench to create a valid INSPIRE Protected Sites GML, I noticed that in FME 2017 two parameters of the INSPIRE GML Writer are not described in the Help: - Target xsi:schemaLocation URL- Output encoding To create a valid INSPIRE PS GML, it seemed to be necessary to include "xsi:schemaLocation=http://inspire.ec.europa.eu/schemas/ps/4.0 http://inspire.ec.europa.eu/schemas/ps/4.0/ProtectedSites.xsd http://www.opengis.net/gml/3.2 http://schemas.opengis.net/gml/3.2.1/gml.xsd" within the gml:FeatureCollection tag. This was not added automatically by FME, even if the parameter 'Suppress xsi:schemaLocation Attribute' was set to 'No'. It would be neat if FME would include it though. But we can include it ourselves by defining it with the parameter 'Target xsi:schemaLocation URL'. Unfortunately, this is not described in the Help (see for example https://docs.safe.com/fme/html/FME_Desktop_Documentation/FME_ReadersWriters/inspire/INSPIRE_GML_writer.htm). Also the parameter 'Output encoding' is not described. I would like to see these parameters to be described in the Help.
TAR.GZ (full of texts/ XML / XBRL):Using a CSV reader, no attributes are available to tell me which file each line was read from (e.g. fme_dataset, fme_basename, fme_featuretype, etc. are not coming out useful).I have over 7k of these tar.gz files (nearly 1.5TB) and would prefer not to unzip them (blows up to ~9TB) just to be able to wildcard the reader appropriately / know which file each line is coming from.
Versioning on the Readers and Writers - similar to Version on the Transformers. To know when to delete and add a new reader. Or notify when a reader/writer from an older workspace needs to be deleted because of changes in the format.
The current search functionality allows you to search for questions by a specific author, I'd like that expanded so that you could search for answers by a specific author.
Since FME 2017 Autodesk A360 is supported by FME in readers and a transformer (A360Connector).But another similar product (A360 Drive) is not supported.Could reading and writing to Autodesk A360 Drive be added to the existing A360 support?
Similar to the redirect writers to Inspector, it would be nice to have a workbench setting to deactivate all the terminators in a workspace.
Simple Idea: Badge for all those (or those few) that presented at the FME UC...
A customer noticed that LineBuilder (used to be called PointConnector) only works well if connecting points with different x y coordinates. when z coordinate is in the mix, sometimes we are not able to produce the result user expect, in a true 3D sense. e.g. if connecting multiple points, where start and end point has the same x y coordinates, but different z, the output will be a polygon. also, if we are grouping by an attribute, and in each group, all the points has the same x y, but different z, the output will be points. Would be nice, if 3D lines can be built in both these scenarios. @pat_uow
When resampling a terrain model some applications will need to keep the maximum value from the corresponding cells in the input raster rather than an interpolated value. One application example being terrain avoidance in aviation. I cannot figure out how to do this with an own workspace that is fast and simple so I would like to see it implemented in the rasterresampler transformer.
I noticed at the Christchurch NZ world tour event yesterday that there is concern over hidden connections - wondering if they could show a popup when you hover over them advertising which transformer they go to/come from, and maybe even an option to zoom to it. I know there are tunnels that do this, but thought I'd suggest in case it has not been already!A good use for these can be hiding connections that cross bookmarks (getting in the way of other transformers etc.), to clean up those bookmarks. Also, can you un-hide at one click?
When I update columns with the Oracle Non-Spatial writer on a Oracle table which contains a Geometry column that geometry is altert. The column is not listed in the 'User attributes' tab of the writer (Geometry never appears there) and on the 'Format Parameters'-tab there are no references to geometry. Despite of using the non-spatial writer it still writes or removes the geometry.I am aware of the Oracle Spatial Writer option 'Update Spatial Colum(s)' to prevent so. Advice: do not alter spatial column with the Oracle Non-Spatial writer
