Trying to compare two columns that have strings concatenated by ' | ' and look like this: COL Aabc | def | ghi COL Babc | xyz Desired result:COL C that contains the matching part of both strings. In this case result should be: abc COL D containing the count of matched parts of the string. In this case, result should be: 1 Would appreciate your response. 

I used NTLM authentication in FME Desktop back in 2018/2019 with no problem. Hi, I have a dataset with a class called drains, I no longer want drains to appear in the dataset and would like to merge/dissolve these on their nearest neighbour. When I do this at the moment, many dissolve and the neighbours attributions wins out, but in some cases (it appears to be when the drain is the bigger feature) the drains attribution remains. Is it possible to dissolve all drains into their neighbour and always have the neighbours attribution remaining?Thanks for any help. B

Given a workspace that uses FeatureReader, with a Geodatabase feature class as the "initiator", does anyone have a suggestion for how to process one Geodatabase feature (from the initiator) at a time? I have a large geographic area currently as the initiator and the model goes on to process millions and millions of features from dozens of feature classes (via FeatureReader), and is a slug! I am hoping that by clipping the data that represents my initiator in the above description, and finding a way to make workbench process only one feature at a time from a single geodatabase feature class, it can process the data in more timely manner. I have looked in to Workspace Runner but I can find any material on how to use it to process features from within the same feature class.  Thank you

I'm facing a strange issue reading a DGN file with FME 2018.1. If I open it with the Data Inspector, I see a weird aggregate whose origin I do not understand: If I open the file with a DGN viewer or AutoCAD, I dont't see anything wrong:I use the default parameters of the DGN (v7) Reader. I have tried to change some of them to see what happens, but so far no luck.Does anyone know why FME builds such a weird a geometry? Is there any workaround? I have tested the same DGN with the last version of FME and everything looks fine, but right now the client doesn't want to upgrade from the 2018 version.Obviously, something has improved over the last couple of years to let FME read this DGN properly. I have been reading the "Change Logs", but I can't find the improvement that could have allowed the reader to form the proper geometry.  It would be a great help if someone could lead me to the improvement of the reader. Hi, I have a dataset that as part of a cleanup I am generalising. It is a vector dataset derived from aerial photography, therefore it has a slightly pixelated look. The point of the generalising is to remove this look and 'smooth' the output. The problem is that at times the output becomes too generalised. See below where relatively straight lines become quite pronounced. In this instance, I do not want the lines to change much. But for example below these particular parameters do a great job. Here, with the same parameters as above it has done a great job of removing the pixelated look.Is there any way to limit the generalisation of the 90 degree angles and allowing the smoothing to take place in other areas?I think it might be unlikely there is a solution, it may just be a limitation of the generaliser transformer. I have tried all the different smoothing parameters/algorithms and this seems to be the best. I'm currently using the NURBfit (Smooth) with a degree of basis

Hello, I have a text format attribute (lenght : 5 characters (for exple : FEFER, FOUSER,...)) as primary key and I want to change it in integer attribute format. Do you know about methods to do it ? I've tried ASCII conversion but it gives results more than the integer limit.For exemple : I thought I could change each letter by the number (A->1, B->2, ...). How can I do it ? Thank you for your help.

I would like to filter my dataset based on addresses that don't match. The Tester is not giving the expected output. Please see the screenshots below: The first screenshot (Tester1) is of Tester Parameters box where I have set the addresses of the joined dataset to not equal each other. The second screenshot (Tester2) shows the transformer output and as you can see the addresses are the same. Thank you for your help!  

Hi all,I have some open data from the UK Ordnance Survey of place names.There is a CSV file for each OS grid tile containing XY coordinates and the name and details of the location. However these files do not contain field headers. The field headers are supplied in a separate CSV. I would like to create geometry files from the CSVs but don't know how to apply the field names from one CSV to others so my outputs can have the correct fields names.Is this something FME can do? Once the field names are in place then I can use a VertexCreator and assign X/Y to the correct fields Attached is some sample data.Thanks in advance

However, I could not figure out which parameters to use in the transformer. I am using Microsoft Access database in Hexagon Geospatials GeoMedia Professional. I am trying to read the features and inspect the geometries. I can read the features but FME does not seem to handle the geometry? FME show the geometry field with binary data, but it does not render the geometry. I have never used MS Access to read geometry data before. Any ideas of what is going wrong or how I can solve it?

Hello,I have a shp layer of lines for which I need to calculate the length of each line then round it to suppress the decimals. I use the lenghtcalculator to get the lenght of each line but for some lines I get results such as 7.566995918750763e-10 or 1.7276990785794134e-9With these results, I get 0 after the attributerounder. I even tried a stringformatter to reduce the amount of decimals but theses objets also turn into 0.Is there a way to avoid getting so much precision when calculating the lenght ? Or another way to calculate the lenght (I get the same result with an attribute creator and length() ) ? Many thanks in adance!Ann

Hi, I think, there's a bug in FME 2020.1. It's not possible to get an UTF-8 encoded result if I use the XSLTProcessor with UTF-8 encoded xml-doc as attribute and UTF-8 encoded embedded xslt-stylesheet attribute.The XSLT-definition has also "<xsl:output method="xml" encoding="UTF-8" indent="yes" version="2.0" />" included.  Best regards, Matthias

I like to test out new beta functionality and would like to have a better idea about when the next official major release would be available. I end up telling colleagues about this new functionality and when they ask when it will be available, I would like to give them a good estimate of when that would be out.  I wasn't sure Safe was shooting for a certain month for each major release version, or they just happen whenever they are ready. For example, I'm looking at the new dynamic FME Server App Gallery updates that are to be release with 2020.2 and would like to know when that might be available to download for the official release.
