Parallel processing in ShortestPathFinder

HiI am having trouble speeding up the ShortestPathFinder. The input is about 7 million from-to-lines and I was hoping to speed up the calculations by setting the "Parallel Processing" to medium on my 8 core system. According to https://docs.safe.com/fme/2019.0/html/FME_Desktop_Documentation/FME_Transformers/parallel_processing/parallel_processing.htm , that shoud render the exact number of cores. Still, I don´t notice any speed improvements and the Windows task manager reports about 6% CPU load. At http://docs.safe.com/fme/2018.1/html/FME_Desktop_Documentation/FME_Transformers_HelpPane/Transformers/shortestpathfinder.htm , it says "If it is enabled, a process will be launched for each group specified by the Group By parameter." However, the most recent documentation, http://docs.safe.com/fme/2019.0/html/FME_Desktop_Documentation/FME_Transformers/Transformers/shortestpathfinder.htm , does not mention parallel processing at all. Am I missing something? How do I enable

ShortestPathFinder gets exponentially slower with number of from-to paths

I am finding that ShortestPathFinder in FME Desktop 2019.1.0 gets exponentially slower as I increase the number of "From-To" lines, whereas I would expect it to get linearly slower (i.e. twice as many From-To lines, twice the time) as each path calculation should be independent. Can someone explain why this would be and how I can avoid it?To give some context, I am running ShortestPathFinder over a (road) network with simple 2-point "From-To" lines whose vertices have already been snapped to the (road) network. There are (up to) 120,000 from-to lines, with a network of 280,000 edges (as output by a LineOnLineOverlayer to split all lines at intersections). For ShortestPathFinder I am using default settings, other than turning off snapping (reducing iterations from 10000 to 1000 made little difference). [Strangely, setting "Re-order From-To Line" to "No" hides all the other optimization settings - a bug?]The final output results are all exactly as I would expect, but it takes about a day

FME floating license issue

Hi, I am new to FME. In this ticket I want to share whatever I know. My company purchased 5 FME floating licenses. At the time of purchase, we shared serial number of the machine. And now license file is on that machine. ( I am calling this machine as a server for license). Inside company all FME users are fetching this license with the help of server IP address (server means machine which serial number was shared with a safe source at the time of purchase). Due to COVID-19, all are working from home. Now server machine is at my place. Now others are trying to access my machine for the FME license purpose, but it is not working. Can you please suggest some solution? Note :- we are using VPN for other application purpose.

I want to create a work flow that will extract specific folders and files from a location and copy them into a new location.

I have a .pdf with a list of files/folders that I want to copy from a disc with a heap of folders. I need the folders that match pdf list on the disc extracted out and put into a new folder. What work flow would I use to do this. I am very new to using fme. I have been playing around with file directory reader and the filenamePartExtractor transformer but have not had any luck. All advice welcome, my Internet search hasn't helped me much.

I'm trying to clip our odd-shaped orthophoto and have the result converted to ECW format. However, I have not been having any success.

I have tried using VectorOnRasterOverlayer, Clipper, RasterBandNodataRemover and RasterClipOverlay...all being fed to an ECW Writer. And even though the results are all different, no method is giving me a clipped (i.e. no black or white boundary) ECW version of our orthophtoto: To me my method appears to be logical, but I'm obviously missing something. RasterInterpretationCoercer parameters: RasterClipOverlay parameters: Clip polygon parameters: ECW Writer parameters: As mentioned, I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong (I'm also definitely not a power FME user), but what I'm trying to do shouldn't be that difficult either. SharePointOnlineConnector Permissions issue

Hi, I have an Excel Spreadsheet which is on SharePoint Online which I would like to read the contents of using FME Desktop. I am already able to use the Microsoft Sharepoint List Reader for reading in the metadata for the particular excel spreadsheet. To do this I created a WebConnection by creating a new connection using the "Microsoft Sharepoint Online (Template) ' and changing the [TENANT] parameter in the 'URL' under the 'Authorization Parameters' settings. I saw that recently Safe released the SharePointOnlineConnector transformer and it sounds like it is just what I need to be able to read the actual contents of the Excel File. However, when I went to look for the site which contains the Excel Spreadsheet, it wasn't in the list of 'Sites' under 'Download Options' in the SharePointOnlineConnector. A lot of other sites from my company were listed so the connection seems to be ok. I am assuming it must be some sort of permissions

Hello FME-specialists, I use FME(R) 2020.0.2.1 (20200511 - Build 20238 - WIN64)I made a succesfull webconnection with SharePoint.I tried to read the database of MSPROJECTS. According the manager of MSPROJECTS my credentials has all the rights needed to access the msproject database (user and password are correct and user has sufficient rights). The HTTPCALLER unfortunately gives errors: 'HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden' from ...' Hi, when using ImageRasterizer transformer, is it possible to fill the empty spaces with color in order to get a continuous, solid look?

I'm successfully using the ImageRasterizer transformer to create images of extracted parts of a 3D model. The result is a png with a "wired optic" (see attachment). Is it possible to fill the empty spaces with color in order to get a continuous, solid colored surface? Without having any empty spaces like I'm achieving now? View e57 point cloud in potree

I have a large e57 point cloud and I hope to view it in the Potree viewer.After transforming e57 format into the LAS format, the Potree converters (I tried potree 1.7, 2.0 and entwine) all crashed on the LAS file from FME, without much useful error reported. I was using all default options in FME (one reader to read in e57, on LAS writer to write the file), no parameter adjusted. Is there no support for Arcade expressions in FME?

Is there currently any way to get FME to work with ESRI enterprise geodatabase objects that have Arcade expressions? We'd really like to customize our feature popups and Arcade is the only language to code them in in ArcPro. But if we do that, it appears we can no longer use FME to translate data into the features. setting Kafka offset commit count

I am using Kafka connector in Batch mode to read and process 10000 messages in a given batch execution. I want to make sure Kafka connector commits offset for 10000 messages. In case of any failure in the job, and If I restart the job (Using EARLIER option), I want Kafka connector to read messages from next offset of last successful batch run. Please advise.

Is there a way to limit the directory monitoring automation to fire when the files i am interested in changes?

I am monitoring several directories that have multiple files in them. Whenever any file changes my automation runs. Example Directory contains the files that make up a shape file. The automation will fire for every file in the directory that changes.(5)

Returning the SDE featureclass name from a layerfile

I have a folder containing a number of esri lyr files which are used to render data in ArcMap, I would like to return the name of the Esri Featureclass from the lyr file, I have attempted to do this by using both the Esri ArcGIS Layer reader and the Schema Reader and attempted to expose the ARCGIS_LAYER_DATASET using the "AttributeExposer" but it only returns <missing> .Any assistance with this is greatly appreciated. Passing dwg-files with workspacerunner

Hi, I've created a workspace that reads multiple dwg-files, goes through some cookie cutting and outputs the results to a pdf. The cookie cutter is dependant on a variable. I've managed to setup a second workspace that runs the above for each feature in a dataset. It all works. The problem is that the dwg-files are beeing read every time which takes some time. So my question is, is there a way to read the dwg-files in the second workspace and just pass them through the workspacerunner? Tried for some time now and can't figure it out. Thankful for any advice!

Adding multiple tabular data to single geometry in shape file

I have two sets of input data.World graphic data in polygonWorld tabular data in CSV I want to add multiple tabular data in country wise graphical polygon data by putting a join on country name. The desired output will be each single polygon with multiple attribute data from CSV. I have used "Feature_Merger" & "Feature_Joiner" but the output is not as per expectations. The feature merger adds all the attributes in a list file which I am finding it difficult to write in shapefile as attribute data. The feature joiner just add polygon data to all the CSV records. Please suggest if someone has done anything in such condition. Thanks in advance.

Text Editor display issue - Characters disappearing when selecting text

Recently text selection in the Text Editor is highlighting characters in a bizarre manner. This happens when I am on a laptop that has multiple monitors attached.It selects text fine if I am using FME on my laptop screen but when FME is being used on one of the larger monitors, characters disappear whilst highlighting several characters. Whereas when I select it on laptop screen it looks like this. How it should be. It also opens up like this without selecting anything

Too many recursive macro substitutions

I've got a big workspace (running on desktop 2019.1.1.0) that uses a few embedded custom transformers to perform some fairly complex calcs. I actually call one custom transformer a lot of times. This worked OK when I had about 75 of the transformers in the workspace, but now that I have about 90 it is returning the error "Too many recursive macro substitutions..."I think there is probably a way I can use looping to physically reduce the number of transformers in the workspace, but this will be a very big effort and I'm not sure there is any guarantee it will actually fix the problem.Has anyone seen this before and know what the issue is?I have found a couple of unanswered questions about this when searching in the previous questions. thanksKeith
