Every exemple of python caller I see would only modify attributes or add new attributes to each input feature. Is it possible to output new features or more features than were received by duplicating some inputs ?

Hi,I am trying to query 40 Oracle Spatial tables within a bounding area using the FeatureReader where each table has multiple geometries but not all geometries have spatial indexes. Unfortunately only the geometries I am going to query have the indexes so I can't use the multiple geometries option. Adding the additional indexes is a lot of work for the complete electric and gas databases.It seems that with the FeatureReader transformer you cannot use Oracle Spatial Object and also specify the geometry column. Is this still correct or have I missed something? I'm using version 2015.0 as our FME Server is 2015.0 but I've also checked in version 2016.I see this post in 2013 but this is a lot of work as I have 40 tables with multiple geometries and I need information such as the oracle_orientation. I think I will have to resort to the WorkspaceRunner and somehow pass the AOI geometry into the second workspace as described here.Thanks,Annette

Hi,How can I best accomplish reading a generic (any) XML file without specifying any initial root tags etc. ?I.e. return the whole XML document as a single fragment.Do I need to create some special XRS or xfMap templates, or can it be accomplished with the simpler Feature Paths ?Cheers

Hi,I'm trying to read a number of MapInfo tab files from a ZIP file, which errs in several mysterious ways.Here's what I try to accomplish:Here's the error in the translation log:Here's some of the content of the ZIP file (using 7z):Firstly, the translation log states that FME uses MITAB although I clearly have chosen MapInfo's own method (unless only MITAB is available nowadays and the original name is now an alias?).Secondly, why doesn't the opening of TAB files in the ZIP err at all ? Is there a limition wrt. the TAB format ?I've just the same notation to extract (large) XML files from a ZIP, which works nicely.Or is it perhaps the cipher-leading folder name ("1082") that is the cause of the error ?Cheers.Lars I.

Greetings!I would like to set an attribute of my feature as the value returned by a pl/pgsql function. Currently, I use the SQLExecutor for every feature. It's much slower than using the pl/pgsql function in the INSERT.The expected result would be that FME produce the following insert statement.INSERT INTO my_table VALUES (17, 'abc', MY_FUNCTION(17));I'm using fme build 16716 with postgreql version 9.5.Kind regards,Jean-Denis

Hi, very new to FME, and I cannot solve how to use this:I have about 100 ESRI shape files, containing map data for different geographica areas. I would need to rearrange the data, so that new files are created, where each new file contains all data with a specific attribute in one of the data columns. For instance, small roads have the attribute 11015 in column "CLASS" in all this input files, and the data for all small roads should from all the files should be exported to a new files 11015-all-areas.shp . What transformer do I use, how and how do I get the new created files to adopt their names from the attributes used? Thanks!!  Benjamin

I uploaded a workspace to a FME Server using the Datadownload service.I call this service and workspace from a custom webpage.All is working as designed, but I would like to skip the download link that is returned by the service.I would like the Datadownload service to start downloading the file as soon as the file is generated.I can't find the right option for this.My URL looks like: http://localohost:8080/fmeserver/fmedatadownload/myrepository/myworkspace.fmw?Can anybody help?

Dear all,I Have a schema mapper transformer that is defined based on an external oracle tableThe external table have a column_name destination_attribute_type where I defined the data type of the file to be translated.Is there any specific reason why "fme_int32" of the oracle table is not converted to "long integer"For the shape files, the field data type of "fme_int32" yields to a data type "double" with length equal to 11.Thanks

Hi I am in the process of creating a bunch of workbenches and would like to use Python scripts to create a custom log file for each workbench, each with specific name and in specified location. I would like to log only specific outputs, e.g. count of features failing geometry validation, Total count written, Total count failed etc..Any suggestion what's the best practice to achieve this. Should I be using startup/shutdown scripts or python caller? I would also like to create the log file with a datestamp.Thanks

I am generating reports using the HTMLReportGenerator and would like to have a hyperlink within the HTML output that links to a pdf, shz, csv..... I can generate the url address as an attribute, however I have not been able to output the HTML with the hyperlink.Anyone been able to do this? Ideas?

Hi, I am trying to run a series of transformations using the FME Rest API. Sometimes it works just fine, however, sometimes I get the message "Authentication failed: Failed to bind to Active Directory". (401). I created a token valid for 10 days and used a HTTPCaller to POST to the URL "http://ourserver:8080/fmerest/v2/notifications/topics/LDR_Trigger/message/raw?token=123456&detail;=low". Sometimes it looks like if I login to the FMEServer UI, it remembers the token and the result is as I expect. Has anyone any experience using FME Server REST service on Active Directory?

Hello everyone,I want to draw a polygon that crosses the 180th meridian and obtain this geometry (created manually, splitting the feature into two separate polygons): Instead I obtain this: I don't understand why the geometry won't generate properly. FME creates the polygon with the greatest distance between points instead of the shortest. I have to do this for many polygons and also lines, with much more complex boundaries, so I can't do this manually like this one.  Any idea on how I can achieve this?Here is the workspace I used to generate these geometries: Thank you very much

Hi allI have the edges of a road and want to be able to measure the distance between the two edges perpendicular to the left hand edge at a distance every 10 metres.Any suggestions on how to complete this as I can not get my head around it.Thanks in advance.

I am using Sampler to grab fisrt 1000 records but it reads all 2 million records that I am dealing with before grabbing first 1000 values. How do I avaoid it? Thanks.

Hi,this time I need to rotate a svg-symbol based on an attributive value. I have set the parameters asfollows:The parameters in the screenshots for rotation (e.g. 30 degree) and the optional coordinates of the rotation point are hard coded. In the real application they will be filled based on attributes.Well I get this error:Invalid Mapnik style configuration. The error was: Failed to parse transform: 'transform="rotate(30,427000,5670000)"I have tried different Syntax, without success. Do you have any ideas? Maybe the integrated mapnik engine does not support rotation?

Hi,I'm continiously acquiring tasks for internal FME execution that previously was done by a mix of command lines and t-sql. One of the tasks involved was dispersing points with identical coordinates to unique positions in the vicinity. This task is currently kept in a stored procedure.I would like to also transfer this functionality to FME proper.Before I venture into recoding the stored procedure into a custom transformer, I'd like to hear, if anyone has encountered a similar problem, and has found a good solution ?Cheers.

I have a simple translation setup in FME to check if certain points are within a proper postcode polygon.The guidelines I am checking against is that there should be one point per postcode and if the postcode of the point is "12555" then it should be in the "12555" polygon. Easy enough to check. However, the problem I'm running into is there are PO boxes which have a postcode but do not have a polygon to go with it. I need to somehow filter out the points that do not have a matching polygon and then send the rest on to the PointOnAreaOverlayer and the tester.I originally thought this would be possible with a TestFilter or Matcher but I'm not having any luck getting the result I need.Anyone know what I need to use for this?Thanks.

When reading very large amount of spatial data from a Database within the FeatureReader, the process could take a very long time. Is it possible to pause the reading, while reading within some time intervals?In fact, I have a database locked at night for updating daily changes and I would like to pause the FeatureReader (if currently running) during the night and resume the next morning.In advance thanks.

Hi there, I am trying to digest multiple CSV files from within a certain directory. To do this, I have created a CSV Reader that has a Source CSV folder with the parameter: _"<my file path>\\*.csv"_. I need to remove the processed file from this directory after processing which I would do via python shutdown script by getting the filename that has to be removed (actually - it would be moved into a directory). In the past when I only processed one file, I was able to grab the file location directly from the reader, which is of course now the <filepath>*.csv . I have used an Attribute-Exposer to get the filename- but I haven't figured out how to use it in my shutdown script? Am I missing something obvious here? Is there a way to either: - set a Python variable with the filename (I would be surprised) or - set a publish parameter at run-time? Thanks in advance!

Hi,  I've just run into a curious problem with a conditional expression in the AttributeManager.?  I'm comnparing two dates in the "FME Date" format (%Y%m%d), setting an "expired" value to either "true" or "false" based on the conditional expression: @Value(dt1) > @Value(dt2)  But it seems like the expression is always satisfied, so my output is always "true", regardless of the values involved (and some should definitely yield "false").  As a workaround I added a Tester transformer, with the exact same expression, and that worked as expected.  Has anyone else run into this, or have any insight into why the conditional value errs ?  Cheers

In a previous question I asked how to translate a custom line style from one Microstation file to another and the answer was add the lines with the custom styles to the seed file save it delete the lines and don't compress. It worked brilliantly. Now I need to translate from Smallworld into Microstation and have a chain that I am translating from Smallworld use a custom line style in Microstation. I tried using the same seed file as before and the same methodology or at least as close as I could when creating the fmw file and it did not work. I guess the question is, can I create a line in Microstation using a custom line style from a Smallworld chain object? and if so how?Any help would be appretiatedThanksRobyn

Hi.I have these polygons:I want to clip the big one with the small one and keep the rest. They are in different layers.I use the Clipper transformer:- Clipper: layer with the small polygon (DGN) - Clipee: layer with the big polygon (DGN)The result should be in the Outside port, but it is in the Inside one. Why is that? I have cut thousands of polygons this way and this is the first time somathing like this has happened.  I can't use the Inside port, beacuse I would get a lot of data I don't want.Thanks for any help provided!FME Desktop 2016.
