Just using AttributeCreator to set the fme_db_operation value and noticed "put" in the drop down list of possible values along with the usual "insert", "update", and "delete". What does "put" do? Is it specific to certain writers?

Hei,The SQLExecutor transformer uses sets of 10000 records (as postgis reader uses as default). Is there any way to increase it?

Hello,  I have a set of lines, with the attribute 'name' coming from a first dataset and another line with the attribute 'linked_line_name' coming from a second dataset. The second dataset only contains one line. I'd like to select the line from the first dataset where 'name' equals 'linked_line_name'. So far I've tried using the Tester transformer but can't seem to make it work as I would like to.  I created and joined a sample workspace to illustrate my problem a bit more: The first dataset contains 4 lines, the second just 1. I want to select the second line 'def' from the first dataset as its 'name' attribute equals 'linked_line_name' from the second dataset.  I understand why the parameters I've entered for the Tester transformer won't work but I can't figure out a way to achieve what I want. Is there a way to expose the hidden attribute when we use the SQLCreator but the table name is entered as published parameter, ( select * from dbo.[$(table_name)] )the inspector is showing only one column, with no list of all the attributes

 The FME Server Administrator's Guide indicates that configuration files must be modified in order to setup FME Server to receive emails: FME Server Admin Guide: Configuring FME Server to Receive E-mailBecause the file system is not available on FME Cloud, is this necessary? 

If I choose Frankfurt region, does all my data including backups and snapshots remain only in the Amazon Frankfurt availability zone or is there a backup/ mirroring into another zone (Ireland) or Region (US East)?

Hello all,  I am being sent a large number of ESRI file geodatabases.  Within these I need to:  1) check if the individual feature classes contain a specific field (this field, e.g. [Field_x]), should be contained in all feature classes so can be a generic test accross all feature classes). 2) secondly I need to check the fme_data_type, this should always be Integer  I am first trying to test this on one field - however I will have a lot more to test and will need to add and remove more tests over time.  Can anyone help on how to achieve this?  I have loaded the .gdb into FME using the "Schema (Any Format)" translator and I can see the values I need to test agains recorded in the attribute{}.fme_data_type and attribute.{}name attributes - I just can't work out how to test them!  Any help would be very much appreciated.  Regards,  Kevin  P.S. Hi, I found the Q&A; Entry for the "Keep Clipper attributes" concerning raster-data,but I have the same problem with a vectorbased source (dxf):I have a line/point-file (dxf) and and a polygon dataset (shp). I have used the Clipper transformer to clip the dxf, but would also need to keep the attribute ID from the polygon dataset.I have tried "Merge Attributes" on the clipper, but I can't get the Clipper-ID in the output.Any suggestions?

I recently installed the new ArcGis (10.5) on our system. ArcGis is working perfectly well, but since then FME isn't able to execute ArcGis related (GeoDatabase) tasks. The Error call is: Unable to check out an Esri license. Please ensure ArcGIS is correctly licensed and that there are available licenses. Is this a known problem and what can I do to solve it (except for waiting 2 weeks for the new FME release). The only thing I can think of is reinstall the older ArcGis.

I have the following issue:A bridge and the road below, standard 2D lines, both have nodes with identical coordinates - i.e. they share a "node location". When I want to output this dataset to OSM XML, the writer creates a connection in this point, even though they are not connected in realit". I've tried to separate them by Z-coordinate, but that had no effect. Therefore, my guess is that it creates a "node cache" with the coordinates as key, which means they will share a node because they share a coordinate.With this in mind, my solution would be to slightly adjust the position of these internal nodes that overlap. Probably with just a minor change(cm? mm?), the nodes will not be cached to the same location. However, I've got no idea how to A) access all non-start or non-end nodes of a line and subsequently B) slightly and randomly alter their position.

Good morning everyone,I am relatively new user of Fme Server with a background of GIS deployment related to ArcGIS Server. I have one question. Is it possible in Fme Server to stop one published Workspace and restart the workspace.  I have one deployment and our project is going live. During this phase we do not want that two of our services published on Fme Server connect with database. But we cannot stop our Fme Server as there are other workspaces which we cannot stop. So I am looking for start and start servie feature like ArcGIS Server manager. Is it possible with Fme Server 2014 ? Thanks for your helpAyyaz

Hi,A Python based transformer has these three scaffold "defs": __init__(), input() and close()."__init__" is called once when the transformer instance is initialized in the workflow. "input" is called for each feature, and "close" is called after the last feature has been sent (= when the workspace is done, I assume).In case of a workspace crashing, the former two have a well-defined behaviour. But will "close()" be called for each transformer after a crash too ? Or is everything just thrown down the drain ?I'm contemplating whether multiple transformers can share a common resource, but that only works if the resource in question is created/initialized once, and only disposed when all transformers have been closed. I.e. have had their "close()" routine called.Cheers

Hi, I'm looking to convert CAD text to a line feature where the geometry represents the centre-line of the text. The basic algorithm is:generate the oriented bounding box of the CAD textgenerate the center line of that bounding box.This is working fine however it looks like FME uses a 'default' font style so when I change the font style in CAD the bounding box does not change. I've tried exposing various autocad properties and changing the style but when I use inspector the text (and resultant bounding box) are always the same. (Changing the size works, just not the style).Is there any way of converting the font style so it is honoured when you open it in Inspector?Or does inspector have a 'default' font it always uses?Thanks.Ash.

I have a number of google geocoder transformers in sequence which amongst other things take in the rejected outputs from the previous geocoder transformer. This works fine apart from the first geocoder in the sequence which doesnt carry a rejected count despite not passing the full input count. Has anyone come across this before? Any help appreciated!

All,I have read and implemented the docker installation of FME server on Docker Engine as published by @GerhardAtSafe. https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/24815/deployment-of-fme-server-using-docker-toolbox.htmlMostly the installation, licensing and engine management runs fine. However, I am having an issue using the job manager to kill jobs. Any time i try to terminate a job I get error communicating with FME server host (hostid). Connection Refused. I have reason to believe this is to do with the fact that the hostname of the engine and the web/core are different (as they are containerised) do kill requests get sent on a different port address? Is this an issue with the docker configuration or has anybody else had the same issue? Appreciate any insights you may have had.RegardsGavin Montgomery

Hi All,I am trying to calculate the next date from a starting date - for example Waste collection. I have a starting date in 2015 and would like to calculate the next pick up. Pickup is every 7 days. In Excel you can using the CEILING function to round up to the next multiple of 7.Is there any way that this function could be implemented in FME?Thanks, Matt

Hello All, I have 2 columns that I need to merge into one. Columns are different attributes of a single feature class. If Address 1 has populated field, then they are accepted. If Address 1 is null, then Address 2 is checked and information from that column will be copied to Address 1. If both columns are populated, Address 1 is accepted. Any ideas of how I would do that? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

New year - new problems.I have an excel file with fieldnames Layer 1, Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 2. My second and third row of data consists of defining parameters per column that I need to decide how to route the actual data. These parameters can vary from sheet to sheet, and I need to handle multiple sheets with the same routine. And then I have my actual data values on row 4 and forth.Example:Layer 1, Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 2Stone, Stone, Clay, ClayTime, Depth, Time, Depth1, 0.5, 0.2, 0.30.4, 5, 0.2, 0.3To be able to handle route the data correctly I need to create attribute names and then have these names apply to the actual data. Any ideas on how to solve this?

I'm reading an FGDB point feature class containing single points but the geometry type has been incorrectly set as "multipoint". I thought I would need to fix this in my Workspace as I'm then sending the data to FeatureMerger to compare (attributes & geometry) against an older version of the data where the geometry type is set correctly as "point".So I used GeometryRefiner which appears to output the "multipoint" features as "point" features.However, FeatureMerger doesn't seem to need this. It produces the same results without using GeometryRefiner as it does with it. Happy days.Maybe Matcher would be less tolerant and GeometryRefiner would be needed there...?

This morning, FME Server started to throw errors writing <NULL> values to numeric values using the ArcGIS Online Writer. Everything was working until Esri upgraded AGOL overnight. We've submitted a ticket to Esri, but wanted to submit a question here as well.The error we're getting is: ArcGIS Online Feature Service Writer: 'addResults' error for a feature in 'AVL DB'. The error code from the server was '1000' and the message was: 'Attribute 'Right Wing Plow State' has an invalid value of ''. I have 2 spatial datasets - FAUNA_MASTER and FAUNA_SAMPLE. Both datasets contain points (many thousand) representing the locations of a variety of animal species (Species A, Species B, Species C, ... Species Z). I want to create an FME script that identifies all records, for each species in FAUNA_SAMPLE that occur within 10 kilometers of all records, for the same corrosponding species in FAUNA_MASTER.The transformers to use I think are straight forward, I use Bufferer to create a 10km buffer around points in FAUNA_MASTER, then use PointOnAreaOverlayer and a Tester transformer to identify which points in FAUNA_SAMPLE points occur within that buffer. What I don't know how to do is iterate or loop the records for each species through those transformers.I'm relatively new to FME. I've tried my best to understand the documentation to create a looping custom transformer and apply it to my situation, but without success. If someone could walk me through it please (with baby step
