Hello,I am trying to locate present spikes on a dense lines network using a bufferer I used the spikeromover then connected a bufferer on removed spikes port. However the bufferer seems not able to buffer spikes. The first spike entering the buffer goes to the rejected port. Does anyone knows how to help ? Thank you

I am looking to use FME to load some data from a file geodatabase into an existing ArcSDE geodatabase feature class. I had done this in an older version of Desktop but can't figure out how to point the writer at an existing featureclass.

Hi, I have two password protected workbenches (one to run, that runs another through workspace runner). People can use the Quick Translator to run them. After some development work, the Quick Translator no longer displays logging info (sometimes it does). Instead, It says "Reading file" for the duration, and then either doesn't finish properly (no output file) with window entry of "Translation finished", or finished successfully with the same entry, and sometimes with "Translation Successful", in between (the actual logs are collecting info though). Before the development work, it provided all the usual logging info all the time (except for another time when I had this is issue, but it went away).Hope I'm missing something simple. But is there an explanation for this?Thanks, John

Has anyone ever / Is it possible to do an upgrade from 2017 to 2018 Server but move drives and restore your config in the process.For example 2017 is installed on the C Drive- company policies is to only allow 50gb on the C Drive and no permissions for me as an admin to write on the C Drive. So I can't delete old files make changes etc without bringing in I.T which is very frustrating.Only solution is that we move FME Server to a new drive where we can have as much space as required. So my question is, if I take a backup of 2017 where everything is configured on the CDrive and I install 2018 Server and restore to the EDrive for example will everything work as expected? Or am I expecting too much :)

I have a center line...i want to have buffer polygons 100m each right and left...but they have to be single polygons which every of them is 100m width.....so i need one 100m right, 200m right, and so on but every of them have to be 100m in width....soMultibufferer brings me the right target but the transformer gives me donut geometry with a polygon right one left and a line which connect both of them...so whats the process when i want this.... or is another transformer better?

Hello, I hope someone can help me with my problem. I am fairly new to FME and my first task is to close parcel polygons from .SHP. My approach was to use transformers LineCloser, Matcher and AreaBulder in that order and this works fine if data is good(Picture 1). I will be working with .SHP that are not 100% correct for example not all lines in .SHP will touch in same point (see Picture 2) or they will intersect (Picture 3). And at last my question. Hello,Is it possible to read and unzip .tar files?  I have an interesting project that starts with a .tar file, I need to unzip that to get a .gz file, need to unzip that to get another .tar file, one final unzip to get a folder containing the data I need to edit. So in short the structure: .tar -> unzip -> .gz -> unzip -> .tar -> unzip = folder containing DBF and SHP files I need to edit. Once edits have been made I need to zip everything back up in reverse order.How would I do this? Thanks, all the best, Ed

Good Day FME'ers,I am having trouble writing to SalesForce. I understand the FME writes the features out to temporary CSV file before using the SalesForce Bulk API to load the data. The problem I am having is FME is dropping fields when writing the CSV file. Particularity, FME is dropping an ID field which is required in the SalesForce App. This ID field is Master-Detail data type (1:n parent-child relationship) and it set to read/write.What's frustrating is, if I export the records as a CSV field then upload them manually, it works fine. The log file and help are rather useless too.Thanks,David

If $(FME_MF_DIR) references "C:/project1/overview/tasks", is there a simple way to reference one directory up, ie: "C:/project1/overview" ? The way I am thinking is to process $(FME_MF_DIR) with some string functions, based on occurrences of the slash - is this the best way forward, or is there is more elegant or simple solution?Thanks

I have some addresses that have been parsed fairly well. However I several thousand that have a letter after the house #, my geocoder requires a space here.For example I have 123A Main Street I need 123 A Main StreetSo I was thinking I could use the StringReplacer transformer to search for [0-9][A-Z], but I don't know what to put in the Replacement Text field.

I have a working workspace to update metadata documents based on information from different sources like JSON files, file geodatabases, and so on. Now I've realized that some of these sources may not have values for some of the metadata elements I'm updating.For example, a JSON file may have a key-value pair: "_xmin": ""To avoid updating elements with an empty value I'm using conditional xqueries in my XMLUpdater transformer, but I don't know what I should write in the 'else' statement. If I leave it empty, element values are updated with and empty value and I don't want that.For the above example:{if (not(fme:get-attribute("_minx") eq "")) then (fme:get-attribute("_minx")) else (*keep existing values!*)}

Dear FME community,I have data from several districts. Each district has different data sources. I'd like to use the same workbench for every district. Therefore, I'd like to set up a workbench with multiple (dynamic) readers, where the user would choose the district and the source of the corresponding feature types at the beginning of the translation (feature types to read, when run with prompt is enabled). So far I've only been able to do this if there is only one dynamic reader. Is it possible to use more than one dynamic reader? If not, is there a workaround for non-dynamic readers to be able to let the user choose the corresponding feature type?I appreciate your help,Vincent

Hi,I'm reading an IFC file with an user-defined property set (PSET - Atrributs Mensura). I would like to check the values of those attributes. I don't understand why the DataInspector is able to read them (A_THEMATIQUE, B_TYPE, ...) but I can't reach them in the Workbench...any idea ?I'm using the "Industry Foundation Class STEP Files (IFC)" format with hierarchical data model and read property sets as Features.

The documentation "FMEPlugInSDK_Java.pdf" refers to a script "rename_format_java.py" that presumably renames classes and files so you can build your own custom plugin.Where is this file? It does not appear to be installed (though similar corresponding scripts for C++ and Python plugins are present).

Hi,When using JDBC connections, there is an option to enter in user/pass as parameters, but I am unsure how to format the connection string to leverage these parameters. So far, I can only connect if I embed my user/pass (as plain text) in the JDBC connection string. The company I work for has a floating license server, there are a few of us that have our own licenses. We want to use our own licenses so that others can use the floating ones. How do we stop FME automatically using one of our floating licenses? The only way we've found we can use our own licenses is when all the floating ones are being used.

I'm trying to separate many polygon features (+1mil) by another polygon boundary dataset. I'm using the spatial relator and anything with _related_candidate > 0, are exported to a file with the boundary name. It takes about 32 minutes to run. I would like to use the group by parameter and parallel processing to make this go faster except there's not a common attribute between the datasets. Is this a fruitless endeavor? Should I be happy with 32 minutes? ;)
