I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I would approach the below problem.I have a road network where there are short single carriageway centerlines of short distances between dual carriageways. I want to identify where there is a break between dual carriageways that is less than x meters. The image below shows a simple example and it is the geometry highlighted in red which I want to identify.

Since there is actually clear warning that this transformer is intended for experienced users, is there a guide of some kind I could refer to?I did see the help section, but I am looking at some simple how to start ... what are the best ways to set up the transformer, if you have no idea what you are doing etc. Few hints really.I have attached sample of the file.Thank you

I've searched for a solution to this but none of the other posts seem to provide the minor detail I'm missing.My goal: I need to find the distance "as the crow flies" between street intersection points (point geometry features). What I have: Street Intersection points feature set with a unique ID field populated for each point.   What I've done: [1a] NeighborFinder (Street Intersection points as both the Base & Candidate inputs) [1b] Vertex Creator using the Nearest neighbor output ( Mode= Add Point ; _closest_candidate_x & _closest_candidate_y)   [2] LineBuilder (inputs are the original Street Intersection points and the Vertex Creators output points) grouping on the unique ID field. However this process does not output any lines. What am I missing?

Hi.I have a database of roughly a million polygons and I have another dataset of 50 polygons which represent areas of interest. Some of these areas of interest overlap.I would like to select every feature from the large database that overlaps an area of interest polygon and write these to 50 individual datasets. I tried to set up a loop using a spatial filter. Some screenshots are belowOverlapping areas of interestMain workbenchCustom transformerI should let you know I haven't worked with loops before in FME before. I was hoping the first area of interest polygon would enter the filter then the large database would enter the candidate path. It would select the correct polygons. The passed and failed features would enter back through the candidate path and it would perform the same operation on the next filter polygon.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,Matt

I read a shp file, and work with the Extruder transformer , after that write to a geojson file, but geojson's geometry type is "MultiLineString", I want to set the geometry type of "MultiPloygon", how to set?    

The task is to read a postgis table (fully qualified namespace.tablename) from one database and write it to another database into the same namespace and with the same tablename. Table name and namespace are not known beforehand but get submitted in the form namespace.tablename as a parameter at runtimeI have successfully created this JobSubmitter workspace:which, according to this logfile runs successfully.The server workspace postgis2postgis.fmw looks like this:and when run, fails for reasons unknown to me. The server log is this: I cannot figure what I've misconfigured here, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using the FTPCaller to try and delete files on an FTP server. The translation log says "FTP: Deleted file 'ftp://<URL REDACTED>', total time: '0.281 seconds'" but when I refresh the directory in my FTP client, the file is still there.The FTP client shows dfrw permissions for the file and I can delete it in the FTP client.I've tried using upper and lower case versions of the file name with the same result.Any ideas?

Hi,I have been using the sql executor to run a sql server stored procedure which populates a table, I then try to use a feature reader to read from the table that has just been populated. Alas it times out. If I do either of these components separately it works leading me to believe FME is holding the connection open to sql server and creating a lock on the table, so that when the reader tries to read it can't. I am using the SQL Server JDBC Client. I will try with the Native Client but this will mean I can't use it with fme cloud which is what it is intended for. Has anyone else had this issue? Working log and failing log are attached.Many Thanks as always

Hi. I want to know if it's possible to use the 'linejoiner' tool by using an angle tolerance? For example, if I have 2 segments with an 'L' shape, I dont' want them to be joined together because they are 90° difference. But if my segments are less than 45° angle difference between each segment, I want them to be connected. Is there an easy way to do that? Thanks Frank.

According to the documentation: "The AreaOnAreaOverlayer takes in area features. All polygons are considered against each other, and where they overlap, new polygons are created that represent both the overlapping area and the original areas with the overlap removed."All I need are the overlapping areas themselves, not the 'original areas with the overlap removed'.. It seems like this should be a simple check box in the AreaOnAreaOverlayer tool? But I'm using three additional transformers to weed out those 'original areas' (Clipper, and a pair of testers) . Am I missing something (probably something very obvious)?Thank you!

Hello,I have some questions about the AreaGapAndOverlapCleaner transformer.In the documentation, it's written that the ''Tolerance is : The minimum distance between geometries in 2D before they are considered equal"How this distance is calculated between 2 polygones? If set to automatic, what does it mean that ''a tolerance will be estimated based on machine precision at the location of the input geometries."Thank you.

I need to concatonate a user Parameter with a value from each feature that passes thru.But it seems with each feature that passes thru, my parameter is starting fresh with original value.I need something like the "counter" transformer which remembers the count for the life of the workspace.Is there a global variable that I can update and append to and change and it is retained for the life of the workspace without delving into python?Perhaps user Parameters is the wrong vehicle?Thank you

I have a Multipatch that I need to color with the GeometryColorSetter. The MP contains an attribute with RGB (0-1, comma separated). Unfortunately the GeometryColorSetter won't let me pick an attribute for the coloring. Is there a workaround? I tried FeatureColorSetter but it doesn't color the MP. AppearanceStyler also does nothing.

Thanks to ideas from @takashi that I discovered here, I have a ChangeDetector to discover differences in table schemas, which works as expected.For a logical value of 'No Changes' or 'Changed' I want to feed the ChangeDetector output into a tester, but I don't come to grips with the way the Tester works with the fed results:The way it is wired now always leads to 'Failed'

Hi,"Shared FME Folders" is a great way to share setups between 32/64 bit instances, between versions, even between colleagues on a network drive if warranted.It seems that there are much documentation on how to share database connections and coordinate systems using these "shared folders". And I even got the shared "Transformers" working.But how do I add and share a Python based custom format using "shared folders" ? Apparently not by just copying the formats folder into "Formats" !It seems that information about formats need to be stored all over the place, typically under "FME_HOME", which is of course not shared. I've seen format information stored in sub folders "formatsinfo" and "metafile", and the format functions themselves (py/pyc files) need to be in a 3rd place.Are there any comprehensive documentation on how "shared folders" work ? And on whether it can fully accomodate custom forma

Hi there,I've been having some severe difficulties (and google has proven fruitless) in something I'm trying to achieve.So in a nutshell, I have a point layer, and in this point layer, SOME of them are duplicates, geometrically. However, these duplicates can have different attribute values. For example, two points may be geometrically on the exact same location, but they have a field called "color", where one is attributed as "Yellow" and the other "Red". What I need for these cases, is to have the point merged into a singular point, but have the attributes concatenated so that it will end up being one point, saying "Color: Yellow; Red".Aggregator seems to kind of do this, but the problem is that my output needs to be Shape file, which does not support mulitpart geometries, and for the life of me, hours of googling have not given any answers as to an elegant way (at least as far as my competence goes) to "flatten" my aggregated

In 2017, I would use dates like 'today', 'last month', etc in the DateFormater to create dates in FME and other formats. The new DateTimeConverter no longer recognizes natural language dates. Was this an oversight?

We have been running FME Server 2017.1 on Docker for a while, its great! I am trying to build a new FME Server 2018.0 on Docker and everything builds and I can bring up the log in page but after entering my credentials the page just clears out my info and nothing happens, I can hit the healthcheck rest endpoint and it says everything is "OK" but if I try and hit an endpoint that requires credentials I get the error:"message": "Authentication failed: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: column l.last_updated does not exist\\n Position: 16"I see that I am getting an error from the FME DB container log saying: ERROR: column "guiline" of relation "fme_parameter" does not exist at character 117I am using the FME Server 2018.0 as is, the only change is the EXTERNALHOSTNAME variable. Any help would be appreciated.
