Clip and dissolve.....best way

Hi all.I Need some help. I have two ESRI shapes, the yellow one and a pink one.Both have a column named ID with the values shown below. The red label is for the pink areas and the black label belongs to the yellow areas.The yellow areas can completly be overlapped by each other. (area 800 is under area 700)I want all to be "clipped" and joined between the pink and the yellow based on the ID column. I need the result as shown in the second image, the blue hatched resulting areas in a shape file.Any ideas?

Hello,anyone knows how to read STEP files which contain 3D objests? It seems that Parasolid platform is much overlooked in FME. I am not particularly fond of Parasolid, however it is quite a widespread industry standard.Any comments are welcome.

DWG reader: Not all layers read as Feature Types

I am running into something while trying to read a DWG file and handle the data based on layers. I set up the reader with 'Group Entities By Layer Name' and most layers are being sent to my writer as Feature Types, with one exception: There is one Feature Type that seems to contain data from several layers, as in this example:The Feature Type is A208, while the autocad_layer is A234. Both A208 and A234 are available as Feature Types from the reader, but the A234 reader contains no data. The data on layer A234 (and other layers) can be exported from A208. I found a workaround on this by exposing autocad_layer in A208 and take it from there, but in a different setting I may have missed it. Is there something special with these layers that make them come "grouped" up like this, and how can I determine if my DWG files have things like this? I'm a GIS person, not a CAD person, and Autocad is a bit alien to me...

Could not open File Geodatabase table `Delta_Block_Polygon'

I keep getting an error trying to write to a specific table, getting an ESRI gdb error message (http://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000004275).It claims that the table name has a leading underscore.I placed a StringReplacer (Image 1)I keep getting the same error listed in the ESRI blog above????Geodatabase Error (-2147467259): General function failure.Could not open File Geodatabase table `Delta_Block_Polygon'A fatal error has occurred. Extract gml:name from CRS definition

Good morning!I have a process that needs to get the definition for several CRS. To do that, it uses a HTTPRequest:http://www.opengis.net/def/crs/EPSG/0/4258http://www.opengis.net/def/crs/EPSG/0/3042From the response I get, I have to take only the first <gml:name> element:<gml:name>ETRS89</gml:name><gml:name>ETRS89 / UTM zone 30N (N-E)</gml:name>I wanted to use XQuery, but it requires the declaration of the namespace. Reading multi-patch geometry from File GeoDatabase

Hi, I am trying to read a multipatch geometry from ESRI File Geodatabase and getting the following error:FME API version of module 'FILEGDB' matches current internal version (3.8 20170315) FileGDB Reader: Feature class '*****' has shape type 'esriGeometryMultiPatch' which is unknown to FME. Skipping feature class (I am using OSX version of FME Desktop 2017.1, build 17539). I was wondering if it's supported on Windows with FGDB (ArcObject based format). Is MultiPatch Geometry reading supported by FME using Shapefiles?I appreciate any advice on this (puzzling for me) question.Kind regards,Alexander

Unexpected Input.

Hello,I implemented a workflow that read a shp file, does some basic elaboration and writes the result in an Oracle table.I call the input file using a variable.Now, if I modify the input (more record but with the same structure), I receive this message in a window in FME Desktop:"Unexpected Input: During translation, some feature were read that did not match a reader feature type in the workspace. This can happen if the reader dataset if changed, or a reader feature type removed or renamed."If I execute the same workflow in FME Server, I don't receive any error message, but zero feature are written in oracle.Any idea about this strange behaviour? What can I do to better investigate?Thanks.

Filter geometry by layer names in FeatureReader with dynamically defined AutoCAD file as the dataset

With FeatureReader, if an AutoCAD file is dynamically assigned as the Dataset via attribute, how can we filter geometries on certain layers by the layer names? Here is the image of the transformer's property definition showing the specific ports manually entered which was later ignored.

How to convert a timestamp?

I 'am reading a Json file that contains a timestamp. I need to convert this to a date so that I can aggregate other data on Year, Month.I've tried using an attributemananger (@value/86400)+25569+(-5/24) and DatConverter to convert the timestamp but this didn't gave me any results.Therefore my question how to do this?

How to coerce attribute type for JSONTemplater?

In a JSONTemplater I am using fme:get-attribute to insert the value of an attribute created in the workspace with an AttributeCreator. The attribute is a represents a status code, so it should be interpreted as an integer, however the JSONTemplater always interprets it as a string, despite all my attempts at forcing it to integer. Using @int(fme:get-attribute("_statuscode")) results in a TCL error (apparently the @int function is being evaluated before the fme:get-attribute function). Also tried using an ExpressionEvaluator with @int(1.0) but this is still interpreted as a string. Any ideas? Thanks!

How to remove extra coordinates?

Hi! I have one problem with coordinates of my objects. For example, I created a simple cube in Revit and exported to IFC file. After that I opened file in FME Data Inspector and I have 24 vertices or coordinates instead of 8 which I think I should have. So they are tripled. Therefore, when I calculate volume it is three times bigger. On the other hand, area calculator works fine. Is there any possibility to remove coordinates and leave only one for each vertex or maybe something else is a problem?

Results shown to the Data Inspector, but not written out?

I have a very simple workspace which is basically 3 steps: readers, UpdateDetector, writers. It is intended to compare changes between two ArcGIS feature classes, which represent data from different years.The UpdateDetector has 4 output ports: updated, inserted, unchanged, deleted. The outputs from the unchanged and added ports seem to be more or less what I'd expect. However, the outputs from the inserted and deleted ports are not being written out to the final feature class - although the post-run numbers show that features were routed through these ports. When I preview the output in the DataInpspector, all the features from all 4 output ports are there. I thought I may be able to workaround the non-writing by doing a 'Save As' on the data in the DataInpspector, but when I try this I get a 'fatal error' with the following message: "In order to update/delete a feature in the table/feature class 'Inspector_UPDATE_area', the FME feature must have the

Hi Everybody,I am using FME 2016.1.3.1In date time format I used* Source Date Format = "Unknown - Automatic Detection"* Destination Date Format = "FME Date/Time (%Y%m%d%H%M%S)"Then if the input is "2017-09-13T16:30:01" it will output "20170913173001".Attached is the FME workspace I used for testing. FeatureReader from Oracle to FeatureWriter, all attributes end up being 200 char

Hi!I am trying to download a set of data from my Oracle database. I have created a simple workspace with a Creator, a FeatureReader and a FeatureWriter - connected in that order.I the reader I connect to my database and select a table. The writer I configure to export to an ESRI Shape file completing only the dataset and the shapefile name.When I look at the "User attributes" pane in the writer all my attributes from the Oracle database are listed but as CHAR 200 (and they are not all of them supposed to be CHAR):Why can't the reader and the writer work out the correct attribute configuration?

How to compare attribute of previous feature and detect change

Hello, I have a sequence of points along a line. I have to detect change in an attribute (called "framing") of a point from its previous point. The points are sequential. Sequences are stored as an attribute too "sequence". I imagine I can use an AttributeCreator to create a new attribute called "change" and make the value conditional. Problem is, I am not good at RegEx or conditional statements to know what would be useful. I need to compare the "framing" attribute with only the previous point within the sequence. Not the one ahead. I have been trying to follow the example in the thread below but no luck. https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/33705/compare-attributes-from-two-features.html Eg, if there is a way to compute something along these lines: IF point.framing = point(sequence-1).framingThen, Change = No. Any help will be appreciated.PS: Working with FME 2016.0

How do you get expressions to evaluate and return a result in Attribute Manager?

I'm trying to create an attribute ("incorporated") whose value is 0 or 1, depending on the value of another attribute ("Code"). I'm trying to do this in Attribute Manager. But I can't seem to get it to evaluate. I've tried many different permutations of the expression. The attempt shown in the attachment uses Python syntax highlighting which I would assume means it would be interpreted as Python code. Anyway, it doesn't work, as you can see in the breakpoint data.

Can I pause or cancel a WorkspaceRunner from FMEObjects

I have some very long running Workspaces being run from C++ using FMEObjects. Is there anyway that I can allow the user to pause or stop them from code, perhaps when I receive log messages from them? If not, can I request that there is some mechanism added to the interface so I can. Currently on 2013SP2, moving to 2017.1 shortly.Chris

Linked Transformer loses attribute values on FME Server

Hi All, I am using a linked Transformer, creating an attribute, let's say Z. Attributes X and Y already exist on the object. On FME Desktop, the three attribute values X, Y, Z are passed by the Linked Custom TransformerOn FME Server, where the same version of the Linked Transformer is installed (double checked), the X and Y attributes are lost. Attribute Z, created by the Linked Transformer is the only remaining attributeIf I Embed the Linked Transformer and republish to FME Server, the X, Y Z values are all retained.Does anyone have an idea why this happens?best regards, Jelle
