Points on Area Overlay: count points on multipart features

Hi guys,I am trying to use point overlay to get a point count over polygons, but everytime the Point Area Overlay transformer seems explode the multi-parts polygons. Is there anyway i can avoid this?Thanks!

landxml to polygon with attributes

I am trying to convert Microstation V8 geometry files to feature classes using Data Interoperability in ArcGIS 10.3. My current workflow begins with the export to LandXML files from Microstation. This gives me a file of closed geometries that are read as polylines - but the LandXML file only shows one record for each geometry. [Think a multi-sided closed figure that has one record with all of the attributes such as name but is recognized by ArcGIS as a single multi-segment polyline.] I need to be able to read this geometry as polygons and keep the attribute information. AreaBuilder eliminates the attributes and I don't think that is what is necessary since the figures are closed (within a tolerance factor). Any suggestions?

Minecraft to IFC (Revit)

Hello to All!I am new to FME and I am lost, I hope you could help me. My goal is to convert a Minecraft World to the IFC file format. The Minecraft World is very small, it is a void and has only one object. The object can be divided in 3 elements by material. I want to generate one output file with each element as an object in IFC. I also want to transfer the materials, if this is possible.As far as I understand, FME can read the Minecraft World only as a Point Cloud. I couldn't find a way to use the geometry or somehow recreate it for the IFC writer. Sequence of points along line

Hello all, I have a question for which I feel like the answer should be simple. But for some reason I cannot find anything in Knowledge Center or think of a way to do it. I have a network of lines with points all along them. The points are not necessarily at the start or end of a line but along them. I need to sequence the points starting from the start of a line segment to the end (it doesn't matter which direction). The first point along the start of a line should be flagged as point 1, the next as point 2 and so on. If a line branches off, the first point on that line will be point 1 again and so on. In the above example, we can also start from point 4 and go downwards in a sequence. Any help will be much appreciated. ThanksEdit: I am using 2016.0 fme desktop

Download ArcGIS Online Feature Service to File Geodatabase Fails

I have an ARCGISONLINEFEATURES reader that correctly reads in the features from my feature service hosted on ArcGIS Online. I can successfully write the feature service to an Esri Shapefile, but I cannot write it to an Esri File Geodatabase. I get the generic error "Error running translation" and Windows returns and error message saying "FME EXE has stopped working" (though FME workbench still remains open). I have tried changing several of the writer's parameters to try and get the download working, including overwriting the database, dropping the table, specifying the exact schema, and setting the attribution definition to automatic. None of these changes have worked. I also tried downloading the File Geodatabase from ArcGIS Online directly and then having the writer simply truncate the table of the identical geodatabase I downloaded, and it still throws an error. I was able to get the workflow to process all the way through a few times, but it was never succ

Esri vs. MapInfo area discrepancy

Good afternoon, I'm working on a project where I am doing an area analysis for a set of polygons. The area is calculated in hectares in MapInfo and converted to a shapefile in FME; however, when the area is recalculated in ArcMap, the results are different at a consistent rate of 1.0039 (i.e. MapInfo: 34.6516368 ha; ArcMap 34.7855988 ha). The projection & coordinate system remain unchanged during the conversion so the area should remain the same. The same discrepancy occurs when an Esri shapefile is converted to MapInfo and calculated. Would you be able to provide insight as to the discrepancy?Thanks!

Mapping multiple features with a single one, in INSPIRE compliant GML

Hi, I am in the process of tranforming an access file to a GML file. In the FME workspace i use a database joiner transformer, so as to join two tables in the MS Access. These two tables have a One-to-many relationship and i select the option to create a new feature for each much. The target attribute in the GML writer has the following format: groupedInstallation{}.xlink_href. When i try to much the produced attribute (after the join) with this one, the matching is not possible. When i define the target attribute as follows: groupedInstallation{0}.xlink_href (with a 0 between the brackets) the matching in the GML is achieved only for one record of the attribute of the reader. Why does the Anchorsnapper not snap to all anchor points?

I have two point featureclasses and want to snap the points from Point_01 to Point_02. Both Featureclasses have 261 points, but after the translation, there is always only 245 snapped points and 16 which are untouched. I have tried many tolerances and snap-to-Vertex as well as snap-to-endpoints, but something is stopping the 16 points from snapping to the next point.If anyone can shed some light I would be most grateful

Keeping raster attributes when writing out rasters

Hi,I have an FME2017 desktop workbench where I am writing out to rasters. I don't mind which raster format I write out to (eg. GeoTiff, Esri Ascii Grid,) as long as the raster is readable in ESRI ArcGIS software. I am currently writing out to GeoTiff successfully and the three bands (R, G, B) are displaying correctly in ArcGIS. The raster only has 10 distinct combination of bands and I would like to create a new band that is based on the combination of the RGB bands and give each cell in the raster a value for this new band.I would then like to output this new band with the Raster and make the raster displayable by this band in ArcGIS.Does anyone know how to do this?Thank you in advance

Is there a way to convert a KMZ file that contains a description field to tab format, where the description field becomes a field in the tab file? I have tested readers and writers for KMZ to KML and kml to tab and Vertex creator (it would be good to have the lat/long fields listed too) and none of this quite works.

Hi, all: I have a huge MS SQL Server Non-spatial database,each record has a "datetime" time stamp. Now I'm using "SQLCreator" to read the data. In the SQL Statement, I wrote: SELECT * FROM mytable WHERE ID='1007' AND YEAR(datetime)=2015 AND MONTH(datetime)=1 But I cannot get the data and FME say: MS SQL Server Reader: Query failed, possibly due to a malformed statement. Provider error `(-2147217871) Query timeout expired' Does anyone know the reason? Thanks in advance, Ariel

Adding transformers from FME store fails

Dear FME community, when I try to connect to the FME store, it always fails to load the transformers. I can see what transformers are available, but there is no way to add them. I get's the following message for example (see also the attachment): "Could not download 'PythonEmailer'- A problem was encountered while trying to download from FME store." In the network settings menue I have set the option to "Use system proxy setting" and I also have writing permissions in my FME installation folder. Is there anything what I can do to load the transformers from store? Kind regards Thomas

My firewall is blocking FME Hub content when I am using FME Workbench. What can I do?

My company uses a firewall and I cannot download content from FME Hub when I am using FME Workbench! Seperate a single field values into two xml elements??

Hello Everyone, I have a field which contains table and column name together for Foreignkey using (,) and (#) seperators. I have created also List on this field already, now i am not understanding how I can make another list for getting those values. I have two sets of tables in an excel sheet. I want to pick each element from one column of one of the tables and try to find a match in another column of the other table. As soon as I find a match, I want to merge the corresponding rows. I was trying to use FeatureMerger but wasn't able to perform the task. Could you please help me out? Thank you

finding duplicates then selecting one based on a value in another attribute

I have 3 attributes that could potentially have duplicates. A, B, C. After finding the duplicates, I have to make a decision on which ones to keep based on attribute D. The scenario is as followed: if A,B,C are the same, take the record where D is not null. If D is null for both records, take any one. If D both have values, take both unless the value in D is the same then take just one. Help!

FME server 2016 vs 2017

As we have FME server deployed externally, I have to make a trade off to either upgrade or skip a version.Big changes I found were: - GUI (less clicks) - Projects (export/import for better DTAP) - Security (AD)Do I miss any important changes, besides the upgraded FME Desktop functionality? (readers / writers / transformers)With these changes I tend to skip a version as nothing comes for free, please don't be offended dear Safers. I am very happy with the functionality in the 2016.1 package. As a technician I would love to upgrade but you know how it works...

Can you do an UPDATE fme_db_operation using a field of type GUID as the Update Key?

I am trying to use a GUID field to update records in an ArcSDE Writer. It seems to work perfectly when using an integer field for the Update Key, but when I use a field with type=guid the update does not go through.

I can draw lines on a raster and then save as a jpg. Why can't I put text on the raster and convert to jpg too?

I wish to add text record of attributes to jpgs. I am creating a workspace runner to do this. However, I cannot get the text to be applied to the raster. I can see that the text is created in Inspector, but Vector on Raster overlayer does not write the text to the new raster. (See workspace)I tried mapnikrasterizer with even less success; I couldn't get any product from the jpg writer.This seems like it should be a simple fix.Your help is much appreciated,William

opening an old workspace saved in a version of FME prior to 2012

Hi, I received an old workspace which was created with FME 2008. I receive a warning message box stating that "Missing attribute reference detected in pre-2012 workspace". Is there an easy workaround to use it on 2017.1?1. I have opened the file in FME 2010 then saved it, a few issues where resolved but not all.2. I was thinking of opening the workspaces in each version of FME from 2009 to 2012, not sure if this would make sense. In my point of view I would ask the creator of the workspace to re-design it as many new/existing transformers can do the job much better now than before. Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks. Lyes
