It would be of great use, if the settings for feature caching and appending logs are available as workspace settings too.It would necessitate a "tri-state" setting, and have the workbench setting overrule any unset setting in the workspace (which probably should be the default). It might even be good to add them to the Workbench prompt dialog, so the settings are up front.
I've been meaning to post this for a long time, because it's a frustrating issue but by nature of where it appears it's usually just when I'm getting into something so I've never prioritised posting this. The 'generate workspace' dialog has a memory within the same session of the last workplace that you built. This IS very handy when you make a mistake adding readers and writers as you can go back and make the small change to a parameter without completely updating the whole dialog box. But, if you start a new workspace and have to update each parameter and perhaps are not thinking about reprojection for example, you might accidentally end up filling in a projection if you reprojected in the previous process!Simple fix, please just provide us with a 'clear all' button on this dialog!
At the moment in the Workbench settings under Tools > FME Options it IS possible to reset the settings on one page, for example on the 'Translation' tab. But if you want to reset all settings back to factory default you have to do every page, one at a time. Please can we have a 'Reset All' button that will clear back all system settings. Or force you to a selection dialog box where you can tick off which settings to revert. This would be especially useful for test deployments, training machines and debugging. It is the opposite of being able to export all settings and share them with a colleague or another machine, but no less important than @takashi's suggestion here https://knowledge.safe.com/content/idea/84078/backuprestore-fme-options-configuration.html .
When using Feature Caching, currently "Run to this" will load all Feature Types of the Reader, which is very time consuming on large datasets. It would be much nicer if it only imported the Feature Type from the Reader that the current "Run to this" is actually in need of.
In case the SQL statement in a SQL Executor transformer returns more than one record, it would be very beneficial to have an option to add those records as a list to the original feature. At this moment the feature is causing an error and will be rejected.
I would like to publish my Esri MXD file to PMF (Published Map Files) using FME.Currently, I use the Publisher extension in ArcGIS and have to publish the MXD manually but I would like to automate this with FME.
Hello,I cant find a way, how to get inverted selection in FME Data Inspector. Is there any button for that? If not, I think that its worth for adding button info Data Inspector.ThanksLubo
***Note from Migration:*** Original Title was: Version Control: Allow other files in Repositories to be versioned (e.g. Source Data, Custom Transformers) Version Control is a great new feature that will allow users of FME Server to better track when FME Workspaces are uploaded to FME Server. This idea is to extend functionality to cover items that are published with the workspace, such as Custom Transformers, and Source Data. (In other words, other data that also exists in the same Repository as the Workspace.)
FME has recently integrated property sets support.Would be nice if values from properties that can be chosen from a drop down list were supported too.
ArchiCAD is a widely used BIM software mostly for architects and FM specialists. http://www.graphisoft.com/archicad/ A cleint expressed the wish to have an ArchiCAD Reader / Writer in FME, mostly to exchange data from and to AutoCAD.
We have LTO-tapes, Diskettes, CDs, DVDs. But would it not be great with a Spatial Archive format? Quite similar to FFS - however with more "unlimited availability" in the future? This was the "Archive" in SAIF in the early days also.Should this be a new format for archive? FFS-Archive ? That is meant to be just packaged away, but be able to read also in the year 2100This post got me thinking about this: https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/104218/ffs-files-versioning-and-compatability.html
Hi, I have a simple idea / request: if you search in text (CTRL+F in the different text editors, in the python caller window, ...) you can now choose between "Previous", "Next" and "Close". Universal, functional and simple! However, sometimes I would also like to know how often the searched string appears in the text: would it be possible to add an extra "Count" button to indicate the number of occurences of the searched string? My workarounds now are:Use replace instead of Find, which then gives the number of occurences:Afterwards I have to think about undoing or canceling of course...Or copy the entire text in Notepad++ and use the functionality that I would like to also have in FME:Would be nice and handy sometimes!
Option to have a version control of automations in FME Server
Please add support for writing external OVR Pyramid in GeoTIFF writer.See https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/81850/write-a-ovr-pyramid-file-with-geotiff.html@joshuadamron this is for you.
Hi,I have noticed if you have editable layer and many peoples are working(and you have enabled edits tracking) then ArcGIS online puts username value in Editors Column .Problem -As a admin if you update data in that layer it will update username with your admin account (or account you are currently using) and it will remove existing username (in some cases people want to retain those values specially if data editing is outsourced to different company for billing purpose). So before editing admin need to disable Edit tracking manually in ArcGIS online. There are some other workarounds also to switch off and on (In my case I have used http caller and python). But it will we great if it includes in standard transformers , it will help to build clean workflow as well as easy to automate. Thanks & regardsManoj
During a FME Advanced training a student asked how he could use the Sampler transformer to get a randomize sample of 10% of the features. As the sampler rate in the transformer doesn't support to be set by an attribute this is a hard task.So this request is both for:1. Make the sampler rate to be set by an attribute2. Support a percentage as sampler rate
