Hi,  Input data are in fgdb_1. Ouptut data will be in fgdb_2 which is acctually copy of fgdb_1. One of columns (attributes) is Shape_Length with already known values. In my workbench I am doing some string manipulation and populate some another attribute. Output values for this attribute are being populated without any problem as well as others without changes, except Shape_Length attribute which now has value <Null> for all objects. Right before writing output data I inserted Inspector to check If there is still values for Shape_Length, and yes, values are there. But after writing to fgdb they dissappear. Where is a problem, why values for shape_length are lost? Tips? Database overwrite is set to NO, transaction type is transactions, table drop no, table truncate yes, attribute names are the same of course, i don't know..

Hello folks,  I'm sure someone has ran into this issue before, but I can't seem to find any intuitive way of accomplishing this.  I am trying to setup an excel spreadsheet reader with the constraint that my header (column name) data is contained on row 3 and my actual data begins at row 4.  Row's 1&2 contain groupings of the column names (in row 3) and can be disregarded all together.  How can this be done in an FME workbench?  Is it possible out-of-the-box? or is custom coding/scripting required?  Thanks in advance.  Regards, JP

Hi folks,  I've had luck outputting the Mapinfo table from Oracle including the MI_STYLE that picks up the symbology. The issue I'm having is the tables are coming out as a native table rather than linked. I'm using FME 2012 Desktop and I've not found anywhere in the Oracle reader or the MITAB writer where the metadata tags can be exposed.  We parse the U:P to our tables so we can refresh them in Mapinfo when required rather than outputing a new table.  Below is the tab contents that I'm expecting to see. Hi Is there an Autocad equivalent of the Microstation Convert_Dimensions.fmw file ?  I have tried modifying the settings in this file to suit Autocad attributes but can't seem to get it to work.  Can anybody please give me some pointers to modify it properly or provide a link to an already modified version?  Thanks Tim

Hi FME Gods,  I'm new to the FME world, so I'll try to explain my problem as good as I can.  I'm receiving the following error, when running my workspace:  "Geodatabase Error (-2147220655): The table was not found. Could not open File Geodatabase table '\\Skovkort\\Teknisk_anlÅ|g'"  Now I'm Danish, so I use the special characters :æ, ø, å. The character 'Å|' in the end of the error message, is actually the character 'æ' in my ESRI geodatabase, however FME has changed it in the error message. I have not had any problems with my other data, which do not have any special characters in them.  So my question is this:  Do anyone know if FME has problems with reading in databases, which have special characters in their name, and if so, do anyone have a solution?  Looking forward to any replies.:-) 

Hi, How can i set the character set for an Input CAT (txt) file. It seems it is not possible and when writing to a database (UTF-8) the scandic characters get messed up. Shold FME be able to recognize the character set from the file?  

I have one spatial point feature class(X) having 10 records with unique id (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10). I Have one object table(Non-Spatial) (Y) having 25 records with foreign key (1,2,5,6,7,8,3,10,4,5,3,6,7,9,2,1,3,5,10,2,4,5,6,10,8).  So my question is can I create spatial feature class of (Y) which is Non-Spatial, using spatial feature class (X)  by Using any FME transformer.  Now i am having X-feature class with 10 records graphically.  I want to have Y as a spatial feature class with 25 records using X-feature class geometry.  I have Data Interoperabality tool.

Text x - y offset   when I migrate text that uses point to for location to arcgis enterpise geodatabase (annotation)     I notice the text will never be at the same position because annotation has a box and the text is contain in that box.    may I know how do I remove the margin?

How can I read a zipped CSV file from a FTP site, extract it and save it. Nothing I have tried seems to work. Has anyone done it successfully? Would need to do it on the both FME server and desktop. I would be thankful for any input.

i'm stumped...  I have FME Workbench installed on 2 different machines.  On one machine the Oracle readers are enabled and available to be chosen and on machine 2 they are grayed out and disabled.  Yes there is a dot in the Licensed column of the Reader Gallery on both machines, so I believe I am licensed for it.  I have the Oracle client installed on both machines.   Machine 1 is Windows 7 64-bit. Machine 2 is Windows Server 2008 R-2 64-bit.  How do I "enable" the Oracle readers on machine 2?  on Machine 1 the Oracle client was installed first, then FME 2013 SP1.  On Machine 2, the Oracle client was installed after FME 2013 SP1 was already installed.  Does that matter?  Sarah

(working with server and workbench 2011 32-bit)  Hi,  I'm trying to use a published parameter that is a combo of two other private published parameters in fme server.  e.g.  full_path=$(drive)$(path)  where drive="D:/" path="afolder"  i'd expect D:/afolder to be returned from $(full_path) as it is in workbench.  however i get the unresolved string '$(drive)$(path)' instead once i've published the workbench to server.  The full_path parameter is being used as an esri personal gdb dest_dataset parameter.  Can anyone explain why this may be?  Are joined parameters like this supported in FME Server 2011?  I thought they were.   Nick

When adding the Generic Writer into the Workspace I dont seem to be able to select multiple formats to write to. I can only pick one.   FME Desktop 2013 Build 13263  I have public web forms now but whichever format the user picks from the drop down menu it writes to shape. Because I only have Shape writers in the workspace. I recently backed up my running 2012-sp1 machines to a FFS and did a update to 2012-sp4. When I run a workspace to restore my FFS to Repository I can see all my workspaces are back in the appropriate repositories.  But None of them are linked anymore to the Job Submitter service, so its like they don't exist anymore. Is there a option where I can go and re-assign them to the proper service again?  Otherwise I will need to republish all 40+ workspaces and that is just a time killer.  Thanks;  David (DEWright_CA)

We use a lot of point clouds, a few here and there for GIS/Civil application. Our more common usage are using land laser scan in big existing plants (brown field,) place them as reference in our CAD software to do the CAD design of existing structures, equipment, etc. We then redraw what is exiting on top of the point clouds.  We can have hundreds of designers and engineers spending time re-drawing the objects on top of reference point clouds.  If we could recreate surfaces of structures and equipment, to recreate the shape of walls, beams, piping, etc. That could save use an enormous amount of time (and money)  We do have many Point clouds management software and add-ons for CAD, but always look for alternate solutions; does anyone found ways of recreating thos type of shapes efficiently from Point cloud using FME?       

I usually only work with vector data but now have a task to create 3DPDF documents for distributing to a project team.   My issue is this:  how to generate a colorized raster representaion in 3DPDF using the raster contained within an Esri FGDB. I am completely new to this process and can get it to produce a TIN from the raster, but i am unsure of how to colorize the raster and have it represented in a 3D model of the source raster. Any help would be great, thanks!

I'm getting this error below:  MS SQL Server Writer: Failed to parse `Date' from attribute value `05/07/2013' for column `EAST_current'  My source is an Excel file and I'm writing to a regular non-spatial SQL Server 2008 table.  All the columns in the SQL Server table have the datetime data type.  What could be the problem?  Do you see that single tick mark in front of the 05 in the error?  could that be a literal value?  I tried testing for that tick mark character in a Testor using the Match RegEX test using [`] and \\A[`] as the right value, but the row came out of the Failed port.  So I don't think the tick mark is really there.  The source data looks like this when I view it in the Feature Inspector while the translation is running:  5/7/2013  so I use the DateFormatter to conver the month and date to 2 digits with this date format:   %m/%d/%Y  this seems like a simple problem, i just can't see it.  Sarah

Forgive me if this question has been asked before. I don't know how to phrase it in such a way that I can find an easy answer though.  Bascially, I'm developing an fme script to QA incoming topographic data against our business rules and then compare it against our database to determine the change.  What I want to do, is have the database reader only pull feature classes from our database that match the incoming data: eg: only pull the roadsegment feature class from the database if a roadsegment feature class was provided.  If I haven't given enough information or this questions was answered elsewhere please point me in the right direction. Appreciate any help. Hi all,  We work regularly with both Micsotation versin 7 and V8 formats. We are trying to build a workbench that will allow users to select output format using the Generic Writer.  Since the seed file dictates the microstation version output, we need a means of allowing users to select the output seed file (depending on if they request v7 or V8 output).  Is there a means of publishing the Seedfile parameter in a workbench file to allow the end user to select the file? Is there another method of telling FME what version of Microstation to output?  Thanks, Mike

Hi, I'm new to FME. I have an Excel spreadsheet with X/Y co-ordinates that I want to convert to KML for use in Google Maps. I've managed to do the conversion OK and create the KML but Google Maps won't read it. Google Earth will read the KML OK but I need to display it in Google Maps. Any help would be much appreciated.  SeanOB

Hello, I'm new to FME and have a workbench that does a dgn to ArcSDE geodatabase (SQL Server)  feature class conversion of points.  I have the "drop table" set to "yes" which I assume deletes all the features in the SDE geodatabase before writing to it.  To that end, when I run the workbench, I get the error below.  I can see that the geodatabase has locks from ArcGIS Server (we have three instances of ArcGIS Servers running).  I would have to manually stop each ArcGIS Server instance before running the workbench to get it to run correctly.  Is there a better way to run the workbench and update the data?  Unable to drop the table/feature class 'Bollard'. The error number from ArcObjects is: '-2147215875'. The error message from ArcObjects is: {Table is already locked [aoc_gis.GISADMIN.Bollard]} A fatal error has occurred. Hi community,  I have a script which translates database content into an SDF3-file. Writer and Reader are dynamically. The Reader gets its schema from the writer. Now I got the effect that numbers with the value "100" are converted into "1e+031" in the SDF3-file. Within the scipt everything works fine. "100" stays "100". All other numbers, too. They are also correct in the SDF3-file. It just concernes the 100's. I already tried to set the attribute again to the value "100" and add an attribute to the Writer with a type 'decimal', without success.  Can anybody help me?

I have built an FME workbench that translates Ordnance Survey's MasterMap Topographic layer into MapInfo Professional TAB format.  Most features translate fine (once you get passed the line style issue with the MapInfoStyler transformer!) but I am having particular issues with the CartographicText feature type.  The GML format that Ordnance Survey provide their product in contains an attribute to set the anchorPosition of the text but I cannot get this to be recognised by MapInfo Professional at all.  I originally thought that using AttributeCreator to set the mapinfo_text_justification might do it but this just sets the justification within a block of text, not the original anchor position.  I'm pretty new to FME so there might well be something I'm missing but after having tried a number of different transformers I'm getting the feeling that it might be a limitation of MapInfo Professional and not FME.  Does anybody have any bright ideas?

Hi all,  I'm currently working on a project where the customer wants to use an existing configuration xml file, where they can enable / disable custom validations and store some validation properties (such as allowed feature class names).  I'm struggling to find a proper way to do this, can anyone point me in the right direction?
