Google has announced that the Google Fusion Tables SQL API is being deprecated and replaced by the Google Fusion Tables API v1.0. This will occur on or around 14 January 2013. Hi All, I have some problems when I try to convert OSM file to ArcGIS FileGeoDB. These problems are mainly due to invalid or duplicate field name in the OSM file. When I convert the same OSM file to Shape File everything is fine. So my question is when Shape File export can find and remove that kind of errors why FileGeoDB (API /Arc Object) export cannot find and fix that kind of errors in the field name? Can someone explain me a way to automatically find/fix these problems, rather than run the workbench until it fails and then fix them manually? Is there something available in FME like ValidateFieldName in ArcGIS? I am using FME 2012 64bit on Windowx 7 64bit.

Is XMLUpdater the best transformer to edit multiple waypoints in a .GPX file. I need to change hundreds of unique waypoint names in a .GPX file to a few names based on a alpha character in the those original way point names. For example: <name>002C34</name> needs to become <name>C</name> or <name>003B33</name> become <name>B</name>

I have a large NITF image (grey scale, with palette). In the course of a number of transofmrations (reprojection, etc.) it gets converted to an RGBA (the palette is resolved). Now I want to save it as a PNG. I do not need all the RGB bands. I see that PNGRASTER has a grey scale, and also a pallette option. Is there a transform to shrink the RGBA to a Grey Scale plus Alpha PNG image (and pallette might also be nice). The goal is to get the disk size smaller. Just compressing at level 6 is resulting in a 400% explosion from the original NITF.

I want to be able to see my Oracle columns in Workbench. When I connect a shape reader to a transformer, I can see the source columns. But I can't see the Oracle columns the same way. I could use the Attribute Connections window, but I'd like to use the visual tools.

We are currently onsite doing a translation. Smallworld 4.2 (with 422 translators) with FME SERVER 2012 The translation uses FME.exe and it works with FME Desktop 2012, we tested the same with FME SERVER 2011. But this doesnt work with FME Server 2012. Is there some special setup? we didnt find any sworldswaf*.dll in FME Server directory. we renamed the Fmf file. This is urgent.

Hello. I have several hundred .xyz files that I want to translate to las/laz files. Using a reader-writer (Point Cloud XYZ- LAS) does the job: Inputs are something like 100903_120345.xyz, 100903_120736.xyz but the output files have names like POINTCLOUDXYZ.las, POINTCLOUDXYZ_1.las and so on What I would like to happen is for the output files to inherit the base name of the input so that the outputs would be named 100903_120345.las, 100903_120736.las etc. I'm very new to FME so apoligies for this simple question. Does anyone know the correct way to ensure a shapefile is always created with its accompanying .prj file during the ESRI Shape writer process? For the type of translations I'm doing, I'd ideally like to have FME output the same projection file as the input for shape-to-shape conversion, i.e. create .prj files dynamically based on the input files, not from a hard-coded script parameter. I searched for but couldn't find any documentation about how/if a .prj file is created when writing to Shape. From mapping file translations, sometimes this projection file is created alongside the core shapefile components and sometimes not. Next week I am going to test a hunch that setting the COORDINATE_SYSTEM directive (or equivalent workbench parameter) for the writer allows FME to output a .prj file, while having it not set results in no projection file.

Hi, I'm having trouble to read data from a dxf file. This file has been built with autocad map 2012. It has one table associated to one layer feature types. It does'nt seem to be simple xdata because I can't read it by just using an "attribute exposer". I also tried to add my source data as "Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D Object Data" but I stil can't read it. Hi, I have - 16 dwg that are our original workfiles without xdata - a DXF file which is the result of a FME treatment and which contains xdata I created ID for several layers and I need to retreive this IDs so when we will update our workfiles, and I will pass them into my treatment to make a new DXF file, my IDs for existing features won't change. I have to retreive the xdata "ACCESS1_ID" from the DXF to put it, as XDATA in my orginal files (DWG). I have a way to merge correctly the DXF with the original files thanks to a block attribute I have kept as a xdata in the DXF. But I don't manage to obtain a file which would be exactly the same as my workfiles (DWG) with adding xdata in it. Thank you for your help. Charlotte

How can I publish a feature class in an ESRI file geodatabase as a source parameter rather than just the file geodatabase to use as an AOI? I am using FME to create contours from DTED using an existing AOI as my CLIP. However the exisiting AOI will not always come from the same feature class or even database. So I need the user to be able to select both the source database and/or feature class within it.

I want to create an inner tiled GeoTiff with internal Overlays for use with GeoServer. I know FME can do the inner tiling, but can it do the internal overlays too and if so, how? Thanks

Hello If I run a workspace on FME Server through an FME-Engine, and - if this workspace writes some output, - and the output is specified without a path e.g. write DXF to "test" ... --> then the output is written to the FME-Server Repository directory, which is NOT where I prefer to get the result. Is there a way to specify the working dir for the engine at runtime, like with a parameter ? I found FME_WORKING_DIR in the engine configuration, but it seems to be static. Hi, I have problem with the joiner-transformer. When joining tables from an Oracle database all unicode characters are not handled correct. Ex æøåÆØÅ. But if I create another reader-import-type with the same table it handles the unicode characters correct. Is there a setting on the joiner-transformer that i have missed? Or is it a bug? (I'm using fme 2012SP4 right now but the problem was also present the previous version I used. I think it was v2010.) /Tim

Hi, I have runned into some strange behaviour with FME Desktop and ArcGIS. My ArcGIS licences are 1 ArcInfo, 15 ArcEditor and 15 ArcView hosted on a license server. Under Citrix I set the variable ESRI_SOFTWARE_CLASS=Viewer as a default environment variable. This works fine, and for example a "double-click" on a MXD icon will launch ArcView. Given this as the default behaviour I provide users with separate startup icons for ArcEditor and ArcInfo (ESRI_SOFTWARE_CLASS=Editor or Professional respectively). But, when I launch FME and start an ETL-workflow which requires an ArcGIS license, then FME try to launch ArcInfo. Seems like ESRI_SOFTWARE_CLASS=Viewer (i.e ArcView) is not honoured by FME. The same seems to be the case for local installs. FME honours license settings from the ArcGIS Administrator and not what i set by ESRI_SOFTWARE_CLASS. Anyone knows a way to force a specific ArcGIS licensetype to be used by FME? best Pål Herman Oslo, Norway

Thre should be a simple solution for what I am trying to do, but for some reason I can't think of it. I have two polyline feature classes. Feature Class 'A' is made up of segments of the Feature Class 'B'. However, not all segments of a line from 'B' exist in 'A'. Some segments are missing. What I need to do is compare the two to find out what is missing in 'A'. Basically just looking for a "subtract" feature for lines. I know how to do this for polygons, but not for lines. Any ideas would be much appreciated! I feel like it is really simple and I'm just overlooking the easy solution!

Hi! Has anyone ever had the need to specify which sqlnet.ora file FME uses? Unfortunately, I need to use 2 different ones to access various Oracle databases and FME does not like the one I use mainly. I have tried hacking about with both version to merge them but then I have FME not working or TOAD not working, or in some cases neither! Any suggestions would be great as I am fed up having to keep swapping over :(

Can I have 32bit and 64bit versions of FME Desktop on the same machine. I need to use some of the datatypes for some projects, but need >4GB memory space for tothers. Thanks H

Has anyone tried to clip an ECW using a shapefile? For some reason the clipper does not respond to the ecw format the same as it does for others. Having the ouput routed to the viewer shows a clipped image. However, when you open the output file again in either the view or in another program the file is back to its original shape. If i do the same process in arcCatalog, (extract by mask) it works, but it is very slow and requires a few other processes to extract the data afterwards to make it usable.

I'm trying with the workbench to create a new file. I want to read a .xyz file. And want to write to a other file (shp, dwg or oracle spatial etc.) and use it in a GIS system. There are many points (to many) i want to display those points on a distance of 100meters and only inside our city borders.
