Hi,  I'm migrating data into a file geodatabase in which I currently have one feature class that is in my standard format. I want the data im mnigrating to this geodatabase to be stored in a number of feature classes with identical schema. Is there a way to either copy the feature class and change its name and contants each time, or copy its schema?  Thanks,  Chris

Hello I have converted a shp file to dxf.  However, the dxf is natively a 3D polyline and i need it to simply be a polyline.  Is there a way of changing the writer to be a polyline?  I dont know of the difference apart from the 3D line may have a z value(?)  Many thanks Ben

Hi,  I'm trying do a simple task involving moving some data from one geodatabase to another, matching up the attributes that I want to keep. Ive selected a file geodatabase as the "writer" but I cannot find a way to specify the feature class that I want to add too so that FME can populate the fields. How can I input into a specific featureclass, rather than create one.  Thanks,  Chris

Hi All,  I have a similar problem to one that was asked here at the end of last year...  I have the need to get FME to truncate all of the writers in a workbench regardless of the number of features being written to them.  Setting the properties of each Feature Type works perfectly except if there are NO features being passed to the writer...  I also have users out there with MXDs which reference all 18 of these SDE feature classes, so deleting them before (or as) the workbench starts is not an option - it has to be a truncate.  I have a Python guru looking at it at the moment, but it would be nice if someone on here has had a similar experience and can offer an alternate solution to cutting code.

I am importing Smallworld data and outputting DWG files. The strange issue I am running into is that the road name text for horizontal roads displays at a larger text height that the road name text for roads running North and South. All of the road labeling text is on the same layer as well. If there is other information you need me to provide please let me know. I am very new to FME.  Thanks Adam

When creating a new file geodatabase feature class from an existing schema, native fields such as SHAPE_Length are appended to the end of the table, ie the last column.  Since it is possible to add new fields in arc, but not reorder them permanently, I am struggling to work out how to replicate a schema exactly where these fields are not at the end.  Any ideas?

Hi! I have a problem with a transformation from an ArcSDE-database to a SQLite-database. When I go from the ArcSDE-database to shapefiles it is about 10 times faster compared  to if I go to the SQLite-database.  I have WRITER MODE: INSERT and I want to overwrite the database.   I am using FME2013 Esri edition.

Hi All,   I created a Workbench reading a set of DGN Files, set with a publisehd parameter. The parameter was created by right-clicking on the input field for the DGN files. For some reason, it has no type, and I can't pick another one. So far, so good.  I try to run this Workbench within a WorkspaceRunner, where I concatenate the filepaths, separated by a comma: D:\\MyDocuments\\National_Map\\Data\\LIM\\lim.dgn,D:\\MyDocuments\\National_Map\\Data\\LIM\\extra_dgn\\5_industrie.dgn  The WorkspaceRunner returns following error:    IGDS Reader could not open file D:\\MyDocuments\\National_Map\\Data\\LIM\\lim.dgn,D:\\MyDocuments\\National_Map\\Data\\LIM\\extra_dgn\\5_industrie.dgn for input Program Terminating   Translation FAILED.   However, when I copy-paste the string with the paths to the respective Workbench, it runs smoothly. So, the paths are correct, but I have the impression that the comma is not applied as separator when it is received from the WorkspaceRunner.    A

Hi All, I have hit a wall, I cannot get FME to save the input's filename as the output’s filename. Input is: 291000-6996000_1m_DEM.xyz output is Raster feature class inside a ESRI geodatabase. I’m trying to get output’s Raster feature class name same as the input (note output filename can’t start with a number). I can change the original .xyz filenames to add a c in front, for example (if required). Also this all needs to go into 1 geodatabase as I have hundreds of large .xyz files. I managed to get the batch to work but it saved multiple geodatabases with the inputs name and with 1 raster inside each, all with the same name. In the workbench all I have is Reader, RasterDEMGenerator, Writer [GEODATABASE_FILE_RASTER_DATASET]  Cheers

The excel sheet  has the address  with the St Num and Street Name are in 2 seperate colums.   How do I translate this in fme to kml

Hi All,  I have an ESRI SDE and a Geodatabase with polygons points and tables. Adding a reader with Merge Feature Type ticked seems to only allow "geodb_polygon" geometries. Seemingly no chance to add points or tables. Can I have multi Allowed Geometries and a Merged feature Type?

To automated the running of my workspaces I have installed the FME Server. Basicly the purpose of the jobs is migrate smallworld to a newer smallworld version. However every time running through the FME Server, the message bellow appears:  Failure  This FME edition does not recognize the `SPATIALBIZ' reader. Please ensure that the current platform supports this reader, the reader name is spelled correctly, and that you have installed all required plug-ins   I can't understand why once my FME Desktop is licensed for SBS plugin correctely and ran the workspace manually with out any problem.  There is some thing to do on FME Server directory? (As test, based on this articlehttp://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/How_To/Installing-a-SpatialBiz-Smallworld-reader-writer-floating-license, I have copied the sbs.lic file and pasted into C:\\apps\\FMEServer\\Server\\fme\\licenses directory, however the error persists).  Could some one help me?

I would like the FME server to send me back a URL. I am trying to setup data sharing with a webmap, the system is processing features and reading coordinates but at the end a URL is not sent back. Any ideas or help would be useful.

Hi, I'm wondering how you "ESRI folks" represent an FME list attribute when you write to ESRI Geodatabase (preferably using the API without checking out an ArcObjects license) ? Also, same question goes for the SHAPE format?

I'm running a Shape2Shape translation on FME Desktop win64 2013 sp3, and one of the three output datasets the options for "Inspect" and "Open Containing Folder" are greyed out.  I can open the datasets in Inspect outside FME with no problems and the other two datasets I built in the workspace are accessibe.   It doesn't really affect my process but I am just curious to see if anyone know why this might happen.  

I have a source file with 800 000+ features all of which have unique ID’s. I have a list of 600 features that I need to isolate from my Source. Because it is so many features I was wondering what the steps would be and what transformer to use if I simply want to copy the 600 feature’s IDs to a text file/ different source file, and have a relevant transformer look at the values in the text file and extract the correct features from my Source.  Thanks in advance!

I am trying to create a batch file to run some workspace where migrate data from smallworld to a newer one version. Anyone knows how do I set the reader and the writer and parameters like server, service and alternative? Note: I am using the plugin SBS for this migration.  Thanks in Advance

Getting a slight projection shift when performing this conversion operation. Just a straight reformatting conversion, and is not displaying correctly in PLSCAD...  ECW in... 2208900.00 16581180.00  JP2 out... 2208900.13 16581179.86  Thoughts? RL

Reader is Autocad and writer is FGDB. What I am trying to do is extract separate attributes from one layer name. For example Layer name is 4_SDR_21_WATERMAIM and need the 4_ in "size" field SDR_21 in "material" field and WATERMAIN in "main_type" field? Can someone please point me in the right direction for the best way to accomplish this? Thank you

I am looking into using FME Server 2013's scheduling capabilities to run workspaces on a schedule. These workspaces have many published parameters that must be specified. Is it possible to use the built-in web interface to schedule jobs and specify the parameters these jobs should run with? I am not seeing anything like that in the UI or documentation.

I have a dataset of polylines from an ArcGIS database with a 2D geometry and the z-values for the startingpoints and endpoints stored in its attributefile as Z-Start and Z-End. I need to assign those values to the z-value of the first and last points in the polyline in order to export the dataset as a 3D dwg-file.  There is nothing in the datasets attributes that indicates wich is the beginning or the end of the polyline but looking at the datasets geometry for each polyline in the Data Inspector shows that the order of the including points follows the drawingorder in ArcGIS  I cannot find a way that could count the number of points in the geometry of the polyline or a way to assign the z-values.  Is this doable?  

Is it possible to use https with FME server?

I am using the veronoi cell generator to take azimuth data and create sector maps with the output being a shapefile. I right clicked on the writer for the shapefile and selected copy attributes from feature type and chose the input csv file as the feature to copy the attributes from. None of the attributes end up in the shapefile and at this point I am unsure of how to proceed. Any help is appreciated.

All,  I just flpped open the back-end of SDE 10.1 through SQL server and to my surprise the geometry of the SDE feature classes was being read as if it were native SQL spatial data...  Is this a supported feature?  Thanks!  -m
