Installing on Ubuntu 24.10

Hi there, I am a new user so this may be a newbie error. I have just tried to install FME on my Ubuntu Workstation. It is running the latest version, 24.10.  The latest version that FME lists has isfme-form-2024_2024.1.3.24627~ubuntu.22.04_amd64.debso I downloaded that.  It fails to install with a long list of failed dependencies. Is this install going to be possible?  TIA.Kerry

Generate measures on polylines with no measures attached in either coordinates or attribute table.

I tried generating measures on street segments but the measuregenerator is not calculating it right. It starts every segment  from 0 instead of calculating from the end log. Any ideas how to resolve or calculate measures on segments with no measures? Thanks in advance!

How to convert 3D Room / Model to 2D in FME

Hello I need help to get it right , i would like to convert 3D Room model into 2D (like how it looks from top).  I am using 2D Forcer and outputting IFC , i could see the output in FME Inspector but, when i open the same file in Navisworks etc. it does not get opened...not sure what is wrong.

Integration of QGIS Model (py) in FME

I created models in QGIS Desktop. These models repair geometries of lines and polygons. Now I want to reduce the working steps, so that the data gets directly repaired in FME. Does anyone has experience in that?

Destination Feature Type Routing Correlator

Hi,When running a workspace with cache mode activated i can see in the Translation log that fme form writes ffs, and writes and index and so starts it with a process i am not familiar with: “Destination Feature Type Routing Correlator” and it takes so long to go through.What is this process about? is it possible to avoid?Thanks in advance!

FME Hub user kailinatsafe just uploaded a new transformer to the FME Hub.This transformer creates a halo around an image – a gradual blend into the surrounding user-selected color, to create smooth effects and transitions from imagery to a background. To generate the halo, the transformer creates concentric buffers around the image area. Each buffer receives the same RGB value. Once buffers are rasterized, the transformer copies color values to the alpha band where they will represent the amount of transparency rather than colors. The higher the value, the more transparent a pixel will be moving outward of the project area. Created in FME Form 2024.1 build 24612. Requires MultiBufferer to be installed. iOS18 and HEIC files - are they supported in any version of FME?

It seems that in the iOS18 update Apple made changes to the HEIC file container that means the FME Feature Reader using HEIF (High Efficiency Image File Format) now fails to read the HEIC files.We are currently using FME 2022.2.Is there a later update that will support iOS18 images? Is there an alternative way to read in these images successfully?

Column names to several different rows

Hey! I’m trying to do something that in my mind is very tricky, mainly because I don’t know how to do this. I have a table with bird “routes”. For some reason, each bird species is in a separate column, with a value for the number of individuals in that column. It can look something like this:  In row 2, at one given location, 1 “Stare” and 1 “Grönfink” have been spotted. There are around 190 columns, making this table a bit odd to work with. To work with this data in a different project, I would like the table structured differently. What i would like as an output is a seperate row for each observation, with number of individuals as a seperate column. So, in this case, row 2 would be 2 rows, one for the “Stare”-observation and one for the “Grönfink”-observation. Basically, turning the column names into attribute values.  Does anyone on this forum have any experience from this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Cheers!/Alex

SQL Server failing in SQL Executor in FME Form

Hi, I have a SQL Executor calling a stored procedure.  I am running FME Form FME(R) 2023.2.1.0 (20240104 - Build 23774 - WIN64) and am getting this issue:Microsoft SQL Server Non-Spatial Reader: Failed to connect using Microsoft OLE DB Driver 19 for SQL Server. Provider error '(-2146824582) Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.'The transformer is not failing, but its not producing a result either. Not sure how to move forward with this one. Any thoughts?Thanks

Directory and File Pathnames - Path Filter now case sensitive?

In 2024.1 it appears that a Directory and File Pathnames reader with a Path Filter set to *.tab only reads tab files with a lowercase extension.In 2021.2 both .tab and .TAB files are readA MapInfo TAB file reader pointing at a folder path such as "E:\Mapinfo\**\*.tab" still reads both .TAB and .tab filesIs this expected behaviour?

Can I display features on the map based AOI selector in an FME server app?

I have a workflow that allows the user to select their desired market as an AOI for a server app. See this example for what I'm referring to and how this is deployed. https://engage.safe.com/demos/map-based-data-distribution-fme-server-apps/ The workflow works just fine, but does FME server have the functionality to display features on the map when the user selects the AOI? This would help when defining the area somewhat and give the user more context to what they are selecting.

Writing to existing SQL Server table

Hello. I have a workbench that reads an XML and splits it into attributes with their values (with one spatial attribute). I am trying to write this data to an existing, empty SQL Server table. If I set the writer to create a new table, it runs fine, but I can't seem to get it to populate my existing table. The workspace runs, and passes with warnings, but when I go to my SQL Server table it is still empty. Any ideas?  My writer is configured as follows: Feature operation: Insert Table Handling: Use existing  The translation log claims that all of my features have been written, and the data inspector shows them fine, but it just won't populate my table.  Thanks!

How to instaure a default value to continue the translation

Hi, i’m working on water treatment facilities. I’ve to categorize them in order to write a excel file which lists the existing and some deliverable.  I’ll try to explain the best i can : basically the data are from a gdb,  i’ve a tester to sort depending on categories. Some cat can have missing/null values, i need to “force” those missing values into the translation in ordrer to write the corresponding categories in the excel files.my situation now is that the missing values given they’re not written shift the writting in my writer and then do not correspond with their according row.i’ve 9 differents categories so 9 row but when i’ve just 5 filled categories, i’ve those 5 written but it change the alphabetical order in the written row so the categories dosent match the row. How can i say to the translator “if i’ve no values write the default value “0” else “no action”” Thanks, hope i’ve been clear enough

ArcsGIS Portal Feature Service connection - Proxy issues

Using the Httpcaller i can successfully make a rest api call to retrieve a token for an ArcGIS Portal Featureservice. A proxy server is set up but is not used for this url so the call bypasses the proxy. However, I can only set up and use an ArcGIS Portal Feature Service connection if there is no proxy set up at all. If the proxy is enabled, the connection tries to use the proxy even though the base url is on the exception list.

Dynamically changing URL in reader

Hi,I have an URL that I’d like to read in, but it contains the current date and thus is being updated everyday. How may I change the URL within the reader so that it’s automatically up-to-date?I’ve tried define a user parameter as a URL but I don’t manage to make it dynamic there. I thought I could replace the date e.g. 2024-11-05 with @DateTimeFormat(@DateTimeNow(),%Y-%m-%d) in the Default Value URL but it doesn’t work.Any help appreciated!

FeatureWriter Missing AttributeValue Option for Table Qualifier

When using the FeatureWriter to write to an Esri Geodatabase (ArcSDE Geodb) Feature Class why is there no option to use an Attribute Value for the ‘Feature Class or Table Qualifier’ setting?There’s only the option to use a User Parameter. I am trying to make this dynamic as the Qualifier would change depending on the environment I am trying to write to. The value I want to use is coming from an attribute. The option is available in the ‘Feature Class or Table Name’: Just curious why this format is set up this way in the FeatureWriter. Could this be addressed in future versions please?Version: 2024.1.1.0 (20240729 - Build 24619 - WIN64)

Dynamic update user param

Hi,I want to fill the User Param Choice with data from a table in MS SQL. This works fine with the 'Import->From dataset...' option. but this function only populates data statically. Is there any way to 'hack' this to fetch data dynamically? The idea is that this Workspace should work in a App in FME Flow.

Hel with writing to Excel Template

My organization has a platform that allows users to collect spatial data. We have a forest plot survey that allows users to collect information about forest characteristics. The form is intense, with many nested layers, many-to-one relationships, and repeating sections. I have developed a workbench that reads the JSON from our organization website and ‘unpacks’ it into it’s individual tables, all with id’s to perform the necessary joins down the road. Previously I was just writing all the tables to their own sheet in an excel document, but now my managers are asking me to populate the data into their preferred format, so they have given me an excel table to show what they want the output to look like. It’s not a data friendly format. Essentially, they want all the data to populate onto a single sheet where the sheet has multiple instances of different fields names in the same column. Think like multiple tables stacked on top of each other in one sheet.  My initial idea was to write all
