The end product is intended for viewing only so ancillary staff can see and drill down to certain engineering levels without having to download or know how to use engineering software like Bentley or CAD.  I have an FME pipeline built already so am going back thru and optimizing. looking for others who maybe have completed a similar workflow to compare notes with. What worked \\ what hasn't etc.  Some notes - Client does not have ItemTypes set up so am not working with much attribute info. I am expanding cells to extract constituent geometry. Interested also in methods to handle 3d Geometry.  We are also interested in utilizing FME Server to potentially automate as new files are added to a directory. Please feel free to direct message.

Hello, I want to rotate my point cloud using 3drotate along the Z Axis. The thing is the rotation is made around the origin 0,0,0. So i extracted the centerpoint of my point cloud to use it as an Origin but I don't know what to put in Direction to still rotate it around Z axis Thank you

Hi, I have 2 data sets (shape-files). A point dataset with 3d-points or at least points where the elevation is stored in an attribute field (different data quality) and a polyline dataset with 2d-lines whose vertices are identical to the points from the point dataset. Is there a way to assign the elevations from the point datasets to the line vertices and then create 3d polylines from them? Thanks for your help

I have a very simple workspace that just tests whether a string has a “.” Or a “:’ in it and if it does then these characters are deleted. I am using the Testfilter to test for the characters, and then a stringreplacer to delete them and then I must make sure the string is all caps. Is there a way to do these three operations by using the String Functions in the Testfilter? I haven’t been able to figure out how the string functions work. Also, will using the string functions speed up the translation? I have 47 million records to test and right now it takes 4 hours to run. I am using FME2018. I have included the workspace and source CSV file. Thanks.

I am converting ESRI gdb tables to Josn format(text_line), but unfortunately few of attribute values are given extra/unnecessary precision?data from tables : "aos" : 105.20 ,"aos" : 293.22 output generated : "aos" : 105.20999999999999, "aos" : 293.22000000000003To avoid this I have used attribute rounder , but no use, client required only 2 digits after (it should be float) . could some one help to resolve this issue on this.I have used the below transformers gdb readerattribute manager and attribute rounderJosn templaterText file writer (text_line)Thanks in advanceChandra Sekhar Guda  

I have 200 files. Their names have spaces. I want to replace these spaces in each file name with a dash. What is the best way to do this. I know I start with the pathnames reader. But, what is the next transformer(s) I need to add?

Hi, I need some help setting a basic test with the tester transformer. I'm trying to fail rows from a feature if they match any values in a csv file I've added as a reader. I'm having some issues getting things configured correctly. So something like NOT @Value(field) Contains <Right value>. But I can't seem to connect the right value. Connecting the csv as an input isn't what I want, but I cant figure out the syntax to use in conjunction with '$(SourceDataset_CSV2)'. Sorry for this basic question but I couldn't figure this out looking at the documentation. Hello, I wanted to continue my course when I realised that instead of eight completed modules there is only three. Howewer in the list of completed modules there is the correct number. It seems that there is no cenection between modules and the whole course. When I click to continue course it shows up an empty incomplete module next to the completed one.

I have a column that contains a lot of special characters. By using transformer 'StringReplacer', I can replace i.e. an '#' by an ' '; How can I replace a list of special characters of 10 or more characters. Do I need to use 10 StringReplacers?

Dear fellas,  Someone created an FME-workbench for me to input a DWG with lines, and output an DWG with all hatches.  However, when looking in the hatch properties in the generated DWG, this hasn't got an area. BUT, when I click once on a grabpoint, deselect, and select the hatch again, it DOES give me an area. Autocad tellls me the problem is within FME and there's no tricks in autocad to avoid this needed click. Because seems like Autocad doesn't realize the hatch exists, untill its clicked once, till then, the area is never calculated.  Any way to solve this problem? cause select something like a thousand hatches, click them, deselect, and select again takes a lot of time. generating all the boundaries at once isn't a solution because there's islands in the hatches.

How to create an exact copy of an column in FME? Which transformer?

I am trying to do vertical transformation using EsriReprojector, I have installed additional grid files from the FME downloads sections and pasted them into the installation folder. But I am not getting the desired result. Height is unaffected. I have read some other questions but not able to understand what should I provide in vertical transformation field. Right now it's set to None.

Here is my scenario: I need to very roughly georeference thousands of scanned air photos that are tracked in a file geodatabase. Oversimplifying things considerably, my fields look like: Filename (which contains location of the raster tif on disk)Center_X (map coordinate)Center_Y Rotation (always zero for my simple exercise)ground_resolution (in map coordinate units) I want to feed each "filename" to the rastergeoreferencer, using Center_X, Center_Y, rotation, and ground resolution. But I'm conceptually stuck... rastergeoreferencer obviously wants input from a raster reader, not a text string with the path to the raster. See the rub? Can somebody give me a push in the right direction? Thanks!!

Hey, so I'm looking at the download page here https://engage.safe.com/support/downloads/#official And I'm seeing tabs with "FME 2022.2" and "FME 2023.0" and "Past Versions". Is it fair to assume that FME 2023 is still in Beta? I think this page is pretty confusing now. I'm pretty sure this used to have a Beta section. Anyone visiting this page who wasn't familiar might just download FME2023 thinking it's ready for production... Checking the FME Cloud console I can see that FME 2023 is still listed as Beta anyone at Safe wanna fix the webpage? @andreaatsafe​ @nampreetatsafe​ @mark2atsafe​  

I have been getting this error a lot: Excel Writer: Failed to open the dataset 'FILEPATH\\FILENAME.xlsx'. Error message was 'No such file or directory.'XLSXW writer: An error has occurred. Check the logfile above for detailsExcel Writer: Dataset 'FILEPATH\\FILENAME.xlsx' contains no data and is therefore not a valid Excel file. No file will be createdXLSXW writer: An error has occurred. Check the logfile above for details It will happen a few times and then the workspace will run as normal. This occurs in any Workspace I use that has an Excel Writer. In the Task Manager, if there was a process I could end, I would do that. It still happens.  Any Ideas?Thanks,-Loren

Is there a method in FME, similar to ArcGIS Pro, for exporting a model to a Python file?

Hi all, we have just updated from FME Desktop 2021 to FME Form 2023.1.1.2. I want to create a mapping file .fme, but the option .fme is missing in the Save As- dropdown menu. Has this option been removed by Safe Software? Or has this functionality been transferred to another menu? Does a workaround exist? Thanks for your help!
