I found some documentation for import psycopg2 but when I try to include this in a startup python script on FME workbench 2014 sp2 it says that there is no module named psycopg2.  I am trying to read/write to a postgres db, more specifically i want to set a value based on a previous feature.  I believe that you cannot iterate features in a python caller.

Hi All, i'm trying to export smallworld data to ESRI geo database, smallworld is having "Plyconic" projection system . But when i'm addin the smallworld reader in FME work bench, FME is not showing the source projection system, it showing projection system as "Unknown". How to get the projection system. I am trying to update some old workbenches we have.  Looking at our shapefile writers, we would like to use the 'spatial index' functionality that is available in FME 2013.  I am looking for an efficient way of adding a new shapefile writer and then coping over the attributes and other properties from the old shapefile writer.    Is there a non-manual way of doing this?   Thank you for your time,   Julia

According to the docs when using FMEServerWorkspaceRunner you can specify the value of published parameters to be a value from attributes of the feature that triggered the job:  "Any published parameters associated with the server workspace must be given values. These values can be taken from attributes of the feature that triggered the job to be submitted, or can be typed in (in which case they will be the same for each job that is sent via the transformer)."  But I can't seem to find how this is actually done in Workbench. The wizard page lists my published parameters but does not have the usual drop-down arrow to allow me to specify the feature attribute to assign as the value. I also tried setting the value using the macro @Value(attribute_name) but all that did was pass through the string. So is this an error in the docs or am I missing something obvious?  FME Desktop 2013 and FME Server 2013

Hi,  I have a reader (esri shape) where the feature type is named 'test'. This has 2 attributes: 'price', 'quantity'. How would you use the python caller to create a create a new attribute 'SalesRevenue' which contained price multiplied by quantity for each feature in test?  I know you can do the same thing using the ExpressionEvaluator but I want to know how this can be done in the python caller. 

Hello, How to determine if input dataset choesn by user has geometry or not. I want to process spatial data by extracting co-ordinates but there could be non-spatial data as well. So I need to to develop two branches one for spatial data and other for non-spatial data?  how to go about it?

Does anyone have a workflow for projecting data to a local coordinate system with an arbitrary origin?  The CommonLocalReprojectors has the origin centered on the bounding box of the features.

I play around with FME Cloud. The workspace works. I would like to start this workspace with an example from the playground: http://playground.fmeserver.com/code-samples/general/populate-forms-dynamically  But I have the following problem: CORS http://playground.fmeserver.com/getting-started/cross-domain-requests  1. Can I upload my .html pages somewher to FME Cloud and access to avoid CORS(If I understand it correct)? or 2. Can I change the settings to allow CORS with the FME Cloud?  Thanks  

Hello,  I am trying to change the output location of annotation in MicroStation (DGN) format. My understanding is that it is the igds_insertion_x and igds_insertion_y attribute values that determine where annotation is placed in DGN (please correct me if I'm wrong here).  Within FME, I am able to update the igds_insertion_x and igds_insertion_y attribute values using either the AttributeCreator or the PythonCaller. I have verified successful update using an inspector. However, when I use the Bentley MicroStation Design (V7) writer to produce DGN output, the original igds_insertion attributes have reappeared and the annotation is in its original location.  How can I write the updated igds_insertion attributes to my output DGN file?  I'm using FME Desktop 2014.  Thanks in advance,  Tom

Hi,  I want to convert 3D Openflight Files which have textures in two different folders : one folder contain the roof's textures and another folder contains texture of walls.  When i convert my openflight files into OBJ or 3DS, i can't save the texture of roof and wall because FME Reader Openflight don't take the two folders on the Texture directories setting.  Anyone have an idea?  Thanks for help.

Using generate workspace in FME Desktop. Using Oracle/SDE as reader source, and file geodatabase as writer target.  I want to copy feature datasets and features from sde to file geodatabase.  Because some feature classes have multipolygon and polygon features , a geometry filter is automatically put in and splits to 2 newly named feature classes. Even if template is used it does this.   Is there anyway to turn this automatic geometry filter off, so the copy happens just like ArcCatalog, 1 for 1?

I am new to this software and it looks promising.  I've transformed a DWG file to SHP format but I don't know where the resulting shape files(s) are. .

So I have a dataset of points that is coming from an ESRI Geodatabase, the other is a list of "inoperable" valves in an Excel spreadsheet.  I would like to match an attribute from the ESRI dataset, "Valve_ID1," with an attribute from the Excel spreadsheet, "Valve_ID2."  For the matching records I'd like to output only 1 feature each (ignore the Excel spreadsheet due to no geometry, not all valves will have a match).  Both matched and unmatched data will need a new attribute called "Condition."  The matched records will be populated with "Inoperable" and the unmatched should just have a blank record.  The unmatched records from the Excel spreadsheet should be thrown out all together if possible.    I currently am using the "Matcher" transformer but the output contains the Excel records that are not matched as well as no matched records even thought I know there are at least 7.

How do I convert an FME date field (%Y%j) to a number so that I can complete arithmetic comparisons?

Hi,  I have an attribute that I would like to update in my oracle sde table (polylines) with data from an mdb table (points).  I have tried using SQL Executor to do so, but it seems to only read data and not actually update anything.  Here is the SQL statement I am currently using:  update SPATIAL.WTRSERVICECONNECTIONS set lot_link = '@Value(LOT_LINK)' where facilityid = '@Value(FACILITYID)'  Essentially, I would like to update the lot_link attribute in my WTRSERVICECONNECTIONS sde table (polylines) with the LOT_LINK data from my mdb table (points) where they share the same FACILITYID.  Even though the mdb contains data for points and the sde is for polylines, is it still possible to update the attribute (lot_link) in the sde based on matching ID? If it is, is there something that I'm missing in my SQL statement, or should I be using a different transformer for this task?  

I am having a bit of a frustrating experience with the CenterlineReplacer that I am hoping someone can help with.  Desired Outcome:   Centerline the entire length of the polygon "tiles." The length is a user-parameter and will determin the length of the line. By having the centerline "clipped" inside the polygon I am losing the correct length.  Background:  I have a number of 'tiles' (ie polygons) that I want to essentially spit in half and keep the centerline. Sounds like a job for the CenterlineReplacer.  However, whenever I run the transformer I get 3 undesirable results. First, it does not split the entire lengh. It essentially starts partway down the middle. Second, one of the centerlines always "snaps" to the corner of one polygon.  Third, the line directions vary. I would like all line directions in the same orientation. Note, I have a process that fixes this but it's more of a hack. Here is a screenshot of the undesireable output

Hi all, I have a field with the numberic part of an address. I would like to replace the last 2 digits with XX and combine it with the beginning part. I have gotten as far as using the SubstringExtractor to extract the last 2 characters, but how can I combine it with the first part?  Examples I have: 123 12345  Need it to be: 1XX 123XX  What does the transformer do with the part of the string that doesn't get extracted???  Thanks!   

I want to merge two features with FeatureMerger (Attributes only). The requestor is an Oracle spatial featuretype, the supplier an Oracle non-spatial featuretype. Although the geometry passes through a GeometryValidator, it is not written (Oracle Spatial writer). I get: Bad geometry detected in the following feature; Geometry could not be encoded for Oracle. If the requestor and the supplier-feature are both Oracle-spatial, it works just fine. As a workaround I tried to use a GeometryExtractor before and a GeometryReplacer after the FeatureMerger (http://fmepedia.safe.com/AnswersQuestionDetail?id=906a0000000cu9WAAQ) but I get the same error.  (I'm using FME Desktop 2013) Any suggestions? Our organization is exploring the use of FME cloud to push data out to Google Maps Engine(GME).  We currently have 2 FME Desktop 2014 licenses which we use to load data into GME.  We run change detection to incrementally update features in GME from our on site SQL Server 2012 database.  This is crucial as we have to pay for storage with GME and need to minimize update size to reduce costs.  I would like to publish our workspaces to FME Cloud but am trying to figure out the workflow for such a thing before investing in it.  Would our data need to be published as a shared resource in FME Cloud everytime we'd like the workspaces to run?  Is it possible to direct those workspaces to our database without punching a hole in the firewall?  Or is there a way to run change detection locally and then upload the new data to FME Cloud and have workspaces run only when things have been added, updated and/or deleted?

Hello everybody!  This is the first time I'm working with the FME workbench and I need your help with following situation:  I have a lot of points which I already sorted (Sorter) and than connected (PointConnector). Now every line only has all the attributes of the first listed point, but I need to keep those informations to stay.  I had the idea, that it might be possible to connect only 2 points to a line, than the next 2 points and so on, which will lead to the same line as multiple objects, which can than carry the informations without problem. Might that be a good idea? If yes, can somebody help me with how I can accomplish that?   Only for those who need more information on what I'm doing to imagine: I have CSV files with spatial and other information of about one billion points. Hi all,  I am working on group project and we are using model builder in Arc GIS.  So we drag 10 tools into a model that have definitly been definded specific destination and have changed them over and over again only to have them return to the original destination.   They are being saved and cataloge is definitly open during operations at all times.  Any Ideas.  Thanks  Pat

Hi,  I'm trying to edit the locations of coordinates within an ESRI shapefile using a Python script in FME. The script appears to be working fine: the problem is that I don't know how to write the changes that the script is making to a new shapefile. In other words, my input and output shapefiles look identical, which is not what I want.   This is what I have done so far in FME:  - read an ESRI shapefile - extracted x,y coordinates from the shapefile using the CoordinateExtractor - updated these coordinates using a script within the PythonCaller - written a new shapefile  The Python script appears to be working properly when I check using the inspector and the Python print function (i.e. _x and _y are being updated using the setAttribute method). However, my output still looks identical to my input. How can I get the updated coordinate locations to be written to my output shapefile?  Briefly, what is stumping me is how to write a shapefile/ESRI GDB/microstation DGN containing c
